Train Station Chatter

Okay so, the first thing I did after yesterday's patch installed was run a cape mission. Upon zoning into the train station in IP, I hear this:

[NPC] Hershel: Well look at this... 'The Paragon Transit Authority has recently re-opened their Northern Green Line station.' I wonder why it was closed for so long.
When I read it I thought, did the patch put in a new North IP station?!? But no, it did not.

I'm just wondering, has this particular phrase been heard before? For instance could it be lingering around from when they added the station to Founders Falls? (I think that was the place, I've only been playing since I13.) Because if not, then it sure sounds like an indicator that a new station is being built

It sounds more like Croatoa. I think that's the line they used when that zone went live, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, that chatter dates back to then. There are a few others like it.

And occasionally someone will answer the phone and say, "Who? Ascendant? No, he's not here." That dates WAY back to the great Ascendant phone routines shortly after launch, but it isn't written so as to date itself.

They have just never amended the Croatoa announcement chatter, since the "Northern" line opened in 2005. With the merged train lines, technically the Green and Yellow lines are the same, and just one big route.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Yes, they really have been saying that since Issue 5, when Croatoa came out.

Now, I wasn't here to know firsthand. But, when the game was released wasn't the Yellow Line the only train, and they added the Green Line later?

No, both lines were here, although the green one didn't stop in southern Skyway, nor in Founder Falls, and of course, as said before, inCroatoa which came with issue 5.

My favorite thing in the train stations have been there for a long time. If you stand in front of one of the restroom doors, you can hear the comode flush followed by 'gassy' noises. LOL Sometimes you have to wait till the tram racket stops...you might need to turn up the sound a bit to hear the 'after' flush. Also, if you use super speed and run back and forth in front of the ATM machine, you will see money fly out. I hope the devs never take those out of the game. ( And the bowling alley next to the Atlas Hospital has authentic 'ball knocking down pin' noises too. The ouside cafe in Faultline has the sound of chattering people, music and clinking dishes.) I just wanted to add these things for new folks who didn't know about them.

I've never seen money fall out of the ATMs. Is that like the cows?

As part of the Due South reference to the Mountie in Faultline, you can hear his dog loudly barking inside his trailer. Also, the bathroom dev's dungeon in Grandville is another example of atomic flatulence in game.

Nope, drop [Earthquake] next to the ATM (or a mailbox) andd watch stuff fly. (this is in the main game world, not mayhems.)

Good to know, the particle/item effects are a bit sketchy on my old machine. I guess that's one that I can't see. Cool!

Or find yourself a friendly grav troller and get them to park their Singy on it. Endless hours of amusement.

(Possibly) interesting trivia nugget: Ascendent is one of the very few players, I think only three or four in all, who have made it into the Paragon Wiki due to being recognized in some official capacity within the game itself.

There is an article there containing the full script of his text, and in my humble opinion, it should be required reading for all players.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

That's just his script for Ascendant-Os. His other scripts are posted elsewhere.

Here's a link (from the footer in the wiki) that has the same script, but below it is a second one, a conversation with Ascendant's mom.

Aww, and here I was getting all excited too. Ahh well.

That's kind of like the guy outside the Vanguard building, the one who still says he needs to check your security clearance. I think they're just keeping him on until he retires. You know, like a Walmart greeter.

Big A is a seriously funny guy, and fun to team with too!

Poor Saul though, how could he have named the Big A's base the A-Hole?

There's also more Ascendant stuff on Virtureverse (though it seems their server is having trouble at the moment...)
