When you enter the queue for the Halloween mission, who else is in the queue?
Is it only other folks in the same zone as yourself, or is it drawn from the entire server?
Would you therefore need to be in a higher population zone in order for a team to fill out or could you be in the Shadow Shard and get on a team just as fast? -

Whoa, did you sneak on the set and swipe it???

Poor guy. I will open up an Ouroboros portal for him the next time I run that arc. He can at least visit the Old Neighborhood.
The guy who is REALLY in bad shape is the rep from Kings Row. He is so lost, he never made to YinCon in Faultline. He never even made it out of Kings Row. Has anyone ever seen him? Where are the Lost in Kings Row, anyway? -
What?!? And I MISSED it?!?
It was bad enough to be deleted and I have no idea what it was?!?
And now I suppose that you cannot even intimate what the thread was about, lest you go back to the Punishment Closet.

Quote:Oh, that is a shame that happened that way. He could have gone to a trainer and selected an alternate build, then re-built from the ground up with you helping him.He was playing a Blaster, ended up picking the entire teleport pool, the entire leadership pool, 2 flight powers and was using his nuke as an opener.
Needless to say, after much back and forth on the situation, I was unable to get him to reroll. A few days later, he's on a brand new level 5. Having deleted the Blaster in disgust after being laughed at by every team he joined...
It is also too bad that some folks laughed at him. There is a HUGE learning curve in the game, and a lot you only learn by messing up. It is a tricky situation to try and help someone out by volunteering advice about their six-slotted Brawl and four travel powers... it can easily offend the hearer, no matter how diplomatically it is put, and you can be seen as a Big Buttinski. But out and out ridicule heaped on someone is out of line.
Fortunately, like virtually all of us, he has survived. We all have tales to tell. To paraphrase John Wayne, if I ever meet anyone that has not tried in vain to get on the train while standing at the EXIT, I'll buy him a Daniel Webster Cigar. I certainly don't qualify for my own offer. -

Kids and their styles these days, geez...

Quote:Absolutely. The wolf even looks cool.So even if you don't specifically care about non-combat pets this is a good development for everyone.
I greatly enjoy and use the buff pets, but I don't use the non-combat pets. (Now, give that MecMan some Laser Eyes of Death and I will use it.) But I am very glad for the development and am happy for the non-combat pet lovers nonetheless.
And I agree, it is a good first step in a journey of some distance: today we shoot a chimp into space, tomorrow we land on the moon! Today a non-combat wolf, tomorrow Combat Pet Masterminds!
Hmmmm.... a moon zone with combat pets... -
Quote:It is VERY disheartening. CoH is diffuse enough as it is, with all the different arcs and zones and whatnot, and now you cannot even search First Ward in the hopes of forming a team.Oh, the fact /sea is bugged is really annoying too, and the lack of teams in it is a bit disheartening for such a cool zone and storylines.
If the F2P Hybrid model is going to work, it is ESSENTIAL to make it easy to team. The LFG tab for Death From Below is a big help, but there needs to be a LOT more work done on mechanics like that, especially since Freems cannot send tells, etc. -
Quote:What will happen is that the dog will appear on "America's Got Talent" or some such. The problem is figuring out what's supposed to happen when a four legged dog tries to perform an Eagle's Claw, or eat a doughnut, or draw a set of dual blades, or juggle.
The wolf looks very cool, but I am not big into non-combat pets. Now when in the game Jacob McCandles can say, "Dog!" and the bad guy gets torn up, THEN we have something! -

Ah, good ol' Atta with a team of eight. Yep, that mish took HOURS the first couple of times I did it. I was a rookie Blaster with terrible Endurance problems, teamed with Controllers who, in retrospect, were not very good at Controlling and Tanks that did not tank very well. We got overrun by Trolls continually. Multiple deaths and the random Team Wipe were featured.
Yet also in retrospect, as a result, I prowled the forums and learned about aggro and Blaster tactics, and picked up a little item called the Pull.
I also learned that Blasters RUN, because we can't cover the retreat, we can't save anyone, we can only get steamrolled with everyone else.
Atta inspired me to be a smarter Blaster, but DANG that mission took FOR-EVER. -
Quote:I do, whenever I can, but honestly, today it was scrolling so fast, that when i scrolled up to find the person who had asked a question, by the time I scrolled back down to the bottom, a large amount of text had been enttered, and basically it was impossible to keep abreast of the actual help-requests.
Eco.Quote:Yup. I used to love helping out in the Help channel. Now, I've taken the entire tab off of all my characters' chat windows. It's sad, but that channel's totally worthless now.
Also: it's not just the freebs doing it. Not even close. -
Quote:I affirm these sentiments.Freems need the ability to reply to tells.
Players that send tells need to be informed if someone cannot reply.
That is all.
The Help channel scrolls by like disclaimers in a commercial on many of the servers I play on, since it is the only channel the Freems can use. How anyone can get anything done trying to keep up with that is beyond me. I sure can't. -
Quote:Wouldn't it save a lot of time and effort to simply necro one of the thousands of threads that have covered this exact ground in the exact same terms with the exact legal pronouncements by people claiming to be experts?Quote:Nope, because that would violate the forum rules and the mods would come in and lock the thread.
Of course, that would shorten the new arguments..)
This thread is a virtual word-for-word repeat of every other thread on the matter.
Isn't there also a forum rule against posting the same thing over and over? -
I feel the pain here. Once upon a time, it was possible to hit the Rez, a Breakfree and a Catch a Breath and get out of Dodge, or pop more inspirs and get right back into the fight.
Nowadays, Rez animations for players and for NPCs act quite differently. When Freaks rez, for example, I cannot even TARGET them for a period of time, much less attack them. Meanwhile, it seems that the bad guys have no problem pounding me into a greasy stain before my Breakfree even fires off.
I dunno if that is Lag, as Klaw suggests, or Working As Intended TM or what. I just know that a Combat Rez using Inspirs is not possible for me any longer.
Fortunately, I received the Vet Rez Return to Battle due to my tenure right as CoH Freedom launched, so that is a HUGE help. It was tough sledding prior to that. -
My goodness, that is dedication. Making 1.5 million that way seems like filling a swimming pool with an eyedropper. Yikes.

You know, whenever this topic comes up, the exact same arguments reappear, almost word-for-word. The same pronouncements are made about legal terms and how it is legally impossible for Marvel, NCSoft or anyone else to enforce or otherwise do anything about cloned characters from published sources, so clone away.
The Sixteen Tons are going to get dropped on cloned characters. I will leave to others to litigate what they consider a heinous legal infringement on their liberties.
Wouldn't it save a lot of time and effort to simply necro one of the thousands of threads that have covered this exact ground in the exact same terms with the exact legal pronouncements by people claiming to be experts? -
Quote:I'll spot you that could be a conceivably possible explanation, "in that universe." I am still waiting for the reasonable explanation as to why Lucas, knowing from the git-go that Luke and Leia were siblings, wrote all of that sibling smooching into his scripts.Hehe, I don't think you realize the reason "parsec" is used for "speed" in that universe.
