  1. Thank you. Sometimes, simple and classic is best.
  2. On one specific point:

People played this game just fine with SOs for three years.
I still play it just fine with SOs.
The Devs have said that the game is still balanced around SOs.

Yes, it means you might sometimes get knocked back, and not be able to have some things up permanently. That's how this game works.

You don't even have to get rid of your existing IOs, just make a second (or third) build.

Or transfer her to another server, and make a new one with the new set. DC does it all the time - how does "Shandora of Earth-2" sound?
  4. Which is why I choose not to be silent, even though I doubt it will change anything or convince anyone.

My brother, who applied similar logic to the real world, was never convinced by any sort of moral argument that his behavior was wrong. The only thing that finally got him to modify it was losing his freedom and other privileges (i.e., jail time) - something which directly affected him, the only entity about which he cared.
  5. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Similarly, neglect/lack of immediate response != approval.
  6. If it helps your confidence at all, Paladin, I specifically look for your trials. Your Underground runs are the only ones I've succeeded on.
  7. I, on the other hand, am sincerely sorry for you. Because it sounds like you won't be getting many teams.

I'll be honest - I rarely want to lead because I'm lazy. I want to follow along, and not have to decide what to do next, or choose between what two (or more) people on the team want to do, and so on. But I try to be aware that sometimes it comes down to a choice between forming my own team or logging off (and yes, I often pick the latter). That's just the reality.
  8. The DCAU succeeded precisely because it was less subject to the demands of marketing (it had its crossovers, but not every summer) and the whims of too many cooks than the monthly comics ever can be. And even it wasn't completely immune - consider "the Bat Embargo", which kept certain characters (for which other producers might, at some point, have plans) out of later series, and the contradictions and conflicting views that started to creep in later (e.g., the fate(s) of Victor Fries).

An Adaption Distillation can be excellent, but it must stand on its own if it is to remain so. If you tried to make, say, "The New Frontier" the basis for a new continuity, eventually it would be just as ugly and messed-up as the last one. And that's why Crises don't really work - at least not as a permanent fix. (Mostly they're just an excuse for someone else to be able to make their idea The Definitive Story.)
  9. Your question has still not been answered by someone in a position to do so officially. Assuming for the moment that it was sincere, and not rhetorical or disingenuous, I advise you to wait for an official ruling before you proceed.
  10. I found the Celestial Rifle last night while messing around with a new costume for my AR/Dev. It's a deceptively simple-looking slab of gun, tapered a little toward the top and slanted toward the front, with a glowing stripe down the side and more glowing ornaments in the stock, including (if I recall correctly) a dot or small circle down by the trigger; is that what you're looking for?

    EDIT: Picture link
  11. First Ward likes to throw lots of weak enemies at you, who can be taken out with just one or two attacks, but who then release conventionally-tough minions and lieutenants. Presumably foes could be made without the second part...

    Time Overpowered

My Grav/Time doesn't feel overpowered. But maybe that's because I'm still not very good at controllers, or because Gravity is just that bad (before level 32, anyway).
  14. For people who were taught to use proper capitalization, punctuation, etc., it actually takes more time and concentration to deliberately break those rules (for purposes of humor, making an example in an argument, or both). My typing speed is normally in the neighborhood of 80-85 wpm, with few or no errors (due in large part to long practice, both professionally and in my hobbies); when I have to attempt "chatspeak", I drop down to literal hunt-and-peck speeds.

Thus I am frequently dismayed when I encounter people for whom the default is not good spelling, etc., and who seem to believe (or at least argue) that extra effort and attention to the form of their expression is only required or worth expending for "special occasions" - like wearing your best clothes only for church or a job interview.

Considering the increasing degree to which the internet is life, the old excuse that "its just the net, it dont matter how i type" is less and less valid, IMO. The manner in which one spends the most time communicating and expressing themselves becomes their default, through practice and habit. And if that manner happens to be sub-literate... well, good luck at that job interview.

Even if it meant stopping the furies would be harder, even if she was treating him like crap. And I didn't like having no option. Not one little bit. First enslaving her and then not going back for her was deeply disturbing. I appreciate you were doubtless *trying* to provoke an emotional response. Well, you got one. And not one I enjoyed.
Seconded. This part of the zone arc had a bad case of "But Thou Must". We're not even allowed to try anything else.
  17. Nobody here can answer your question. PM a redname.
  18. I'd already been playing for years before ED or IOs came along. Several of my characters are still using pure-SO builds, just because I never bothered to work up an IO build for them and go through the rigamarole with the market (another late addition) to craft and slot 'em. Many of the characters who do have IOs (generics and regular sets only, no purples and of course no PvP) still have their old SO builds preserved in slot 2 for nostalgia's sake.

I live with knockback. I live with not having perma-whatever. I have fun.
  19. I submit that if male characters really were as sexualized as the female ones in this game and/or genre...

The camera would be locked, by default, on their perfect cheeks. An alternate setting would move it to focus on the (bare) chest and/or back.
There would be a separate hair slider, with one extreme being bald or buzz-cut and the other end being "down to his ***."
    Crotch bulges for everyone.
Half the animations would involve stretching or bending over.

    How's that for a start?
  20. All of which annoys both the people who don't want to read any of that text, and those who desperately do.
  21. Dr. Forsythe would finally bring about a transhumanist utopia, in which immortal uploaded minds are free from all the needs and flaws of the flesh, the waste of war and prejudice, etc etc...

But, like Moses not being allowed to enter the Promised Land, he would be denied entry (or deny it to himself) because of all the crimes he's committed and lives he's sacrificed to make that dream a reality.
  22. No, I don't think you're getting it. When you're not on a team, and you open the 'Team' window, you get the option to mark yourself as looking for a team and add a few notes as to exactly what you're looking for. If you feel like being a bit more proactive, there's a button you can push to find teammates - that'll show you everyone (up to 50) in a zone, or just those looking for a Task Force, or to run missions, or...

    ... or maybe I'm wrong, and no one actually uses the mechanism coded into the game for finding teams anymore. -_-;;
  23. Around here, we have the "Looking For Team" window instead. Perhaps new players should be instructed in its use?
  24. Make the other half of the powerset actually worth taking? What madness is this?
  25. There's a component of the cone-attack FX that sounds, to my ear, just like a goat's bleat. (GOAT LASER)
