  1. Praetorian characters arnt... or wernt being affected by the auto level.

for some very silly reason I didnt /bug it, I sent Zwilly a PM, I don't know why, but hes passed it on anyway. So just be aware of that.
  2. I have a DS/Dark as a Hero

I never wrote her bio, but it was gonna involve early abandonment by a villainous magic using father, his eventual capture and locking up in a maximum security section of the zig. An educational fieldtrip gone bad where she is closer enough to her father for the demon possessing him to jump to her (the blood relation thing making it easier to transfer)

I once had a Thugs/something MM that was suposed to be an undercover longbow agent, that had I kept I would have brought hero side had I known that was gonna happen.

except this is a conversation about what powers require you to be near the ground to activate, not what powers pull you to the ground or the limitations of their implimentation.

nor is it a conversation about what powers you imagine launch you into the air?

Stone Spears from earth assault is a brilliant example of this. a ranged damage power, whos name illicits a very cool looking animation from me, but what I think and what the devs designed are different.

theres one similarity, what they came up with, and what i thought it would be, both involved the ground factoring into the animation, theirs like punching the ground, mine like propel.

However a big difference between how I saw it and they saw it, as that my version would have been able to hit flying targets, and affect them, while the Devs version does not.

it's clearly a design driven choice based on the aesthetics of the animation on why this power cannot be used in the air, nor affect things in the air.

its a very good design driven choice, when basing it purely on the aesthetic, but when basing it on gameplay and functionality and useability, its a very poor choice.

Is there a point in the life of a booster that the sales diminish to a negligible amount? If that's the case, wouldn't it be better to offer an alternate method of unlocking said booster(s) without the need for money?

Doing so would serve many purposes. It would be good advertising. Furthermore, it's new "free" content would help retain subscribers, just like the "free" issues have retained subscribers.

ps: In response to somebody's earlier estimate on active subscribers; It's estimated that CoH has around 120k active subscriptions, possibly more since the last data I saw was pre-GR.

If everyone knew 6 months after something was released as a booster it would be free, or easily unlockable, i think the number of people purchasing would decrease rapidly.

As it stands out of all the boosters, the only one I would have been tmepted to buy to get sooner would be the steampunk one. I'm still waiting for science to go on sale, as all I want from that is size changing... and i'll never buy the party one
  5. from a design point of view, its very flavour filled, its thematic and it makes sense from the powers.

from a design point of view its horribly limiting, any content has to account for this 'feature' but sometimes they don't... look at Hamidon, Greens get deaded when held. but PGT is all but useless, unless you get onto the little invisible platform the mito stands on.

Why my trapper can't put little jetboosters onto his PGT or the acid mortar when I can put some on my boots, I don't know... i'd love to be able to place those in the air where I want them.

    Steam Jump

The jump pack does this too, was very good for a boost pre-Ninja Run.

I think they should have thrown caution to the wind, and had this been fly though
  7. While from a game Lore/RP point of view, I can see why a giant meteor chunk or a giant mechanical machine should take a while to defeat. From a fun over time point of view, I cannot agree with you more.

The worst culprit of this is the computer in the ITF. It should melt in seconds to a fire attack, or be decimated by Demon pets. instead its soo freaking tough that as you're dismantling it slowly it has time to activate some robots nearby.
  8. I have 2 MMs on Freedom.

Both of whom I was going to take blueside once they escape Praetoria, but for fun like this, may have my first perma-rogue character to use.

I'm EU, but on at all sorts of weird and wonderful times, so if you'll have one of my MMs, let me know!

Theres a few seconds, but inteligent use of inpsirations, or now Alpha powers, or even just movement/kiting will mitigate the worst of whats coming in. And you're debuffs of course will still be going.

Get Provoke. Leave your pets in defensive follow and learn to leverage bodyguard mode. Bodyguard mode is what makes MMs awesome. Jump in head first, drop caltrops and acid morars. Spam Provoke. Don't stand next to your pets while you fight, but keep them in supremacy range. This way AoEs won't hit your henchmen. Stack Web Grenades on tough bosses who like to run away. Spam more provoke!

For tough fights, use the goto command to park your bots in one place. Put a triage beacon between them and where you plan to stand so you both get the +regen. They'll be out of your FFG, but they shouldn't even be getting shot at. The damage they take will be from bodyguard mode and heal back quickly. Seekers are not always necessary, but against tougher opponents you'll really notice the -damage.
to echo this... Hover + provoke or Hovoke... is very useful for keeping them insid ethe lovely Supremacy area, and hopefully away from all the big hits.
  12. Did you get the email about the codes being applied to account?

It took about 45 mins before I got that email, before it, no steam or punk... after it, lots of steam, and suitable amounts of punk.
  13. When using the tool, you can pick either Test or Beta.

Also, im not 100% sure that the buff changes will be on beta yet, but good luck!
  14. Enough free or low cost solutions to voice comms exist, and some even provided by the community, that using developer resources on putting something into the game, that, for many reasons, probably few would actually use, I think would be a waste of their resources.
  15. When the Devs made interface powers affect Pets and Rains they inadvertedly made them trigger on rains very very quickly, much quicker than procs.

To solve this they made the interface proc only once every 10 seconds, like it probably should, a bug to this however is that it only goes for one target, they are working on that.

It wasn't the 'rain nukes' that were affected so much, but things like Rain of Fire or even Caltrops became killing machines, which they no longer do.

As far as i'm aware, theres been no change to any actual Rain Powers recently, so I'm guessing this is what you've seen.

Are you trying to acess the Beta Server, or the Test Server.

If Beta is off and thats what you're trying to acess, it may explain you're problems.
  17. So they have a week to fix the character copy tool for EU players, or they are going to notice an amusing lack of participation...
  18. Theres plenty of demon/dark stuff out there to be read.

My build runs at softcap and tanks for the pets when needed, but tbh, they are such a powerhouse that it rarely is, with good pet placement and micro management I can tank AVs quite well, especially with fluffy, he's more key to Demon/Dark going well.

The only downside I find is that it can all go a bit wrong if I get mezd while i'm out of bodyguard mode, but I tend to carry a healthy amount of breakfrees for that.

I think the best thing about my demons/dark is that I'm always looking for a challenge to her power, insted of being aware of what is the most she can take.

    - Ms. Liberty, Marauder (normal version), Silver Mantis, Wretch, Back Alley Brawler all hit 100% resistance to S/L while in Unstoppable, when they also activate Temp Invul or Unyielding.
I think it's less of a case of "not supposed to happen" and more of a case of "not supposed to happen when the players are in a timed situation or the power cycles so fast as to make it difficult for non optimum teams"

If they go up to and above 100% resists for 30 seconds once every 20 minutes, I think it would probably be quite acceptable. If it happens for 2 mins and you only have 20 mins to finish the fight, so you're loosing 20% of you're time, and the Devs are encouraging it to be done when the rest of the time he has silly high resists also, it can be a big roadbump that needs intervention.

I'm afraid it is an unforgivable sin.

It also teaches the greatest Zombie-Apocalypse-Life-Lesson there is... even in a comedy, its OK, and infact necessary to shoot your mom in the head if she gets infected.

We need to be cold, we need to be hard, we need to be tough, and everyone who's assistance I suffer has to be gullable enough for me to command them as I see fit, yet inteligent enough for me to trust.

I'll be on my own please.
  21. Bonus' were changed to add a complimentary type or positional defence value that was half of its normal. So there was more diversity in what people could aim for, as well as seeming to round off a few numbers.

But the names are different a "large" S/L bonus provides also a "medium" Melee bonus (or something akin to that), but it doesn't affect a "Medium" melee bonus which would also give a "Small" smash/lethal bonus. as the names are different, while the values are the same.

In a similar vein, its why you can have 5 luck of the gamblers, and 5 other sources of 7.5% recharge bonus (sniper sets, BasGaze etc)

    Time Travel

I cant recall if Ouro is supposed to be 1 for all dimensions, or if the one we have access to is only for Primal, and there should be a Preatorian one too...

but if its the former, you're gold, if its the latter, just say the menders took you from you're time after you did you're stuff, and dumped you in Praetoria to fight there, a big Half-Life G-Man-esque but still.

You mention personal timelines getting mixed up, well you could always be intended to be put back after whatever you have done in 'modern times', in Doctor Who his companions go all about time, but tend to get dumped back when they started afterwards, maybe loosing a few months.

Or alternatively there could be no intention of you going back. It wouldn't mess up the past as its already happened. If Amelia Earheart turned up tommorow, and said crazy time people took her midflight and dropped her into the toilet of a 747 so she could land the plane safely after the pilot had a heartattack we would have...

    1) An amazing movie idea i'm off to copywrite.
    2) knowledge that she simply vanished without a trace one day surrounded in mystery, and turned up in another, no one would say "but she must go back to finish x" as we know she didnt finish squat.

I find the mitos seem to have a pretty decent chance of dropping shards, I've always tended to get a few from those, I think thats why it seems so good. And its quite saturated with bad guys, especially if you don't skip the skippable mission.
