Quote:Lisa gives Doughboy a hug.The enhancements on the market are BETTER than what you can earn in the game. It's frustrating that players cannot earn the same level of power in the game.
In the past, I bought a few of the sets market previously released just because they're better than other versions, but I won't make that mistake again. It seems to have encouraged the company to sell items that are even more powerful.
Between this and the gambling packs, I'm pretty disillusioned with CoH right now.
I agree about the potential problems with the, how did you put it, Gambling Packs." But I am happy that some of the better sets are in the store. The prices for LOTG recharge, and the Holy Healing Trio, in WW are truly obscene.
If the prices in WW were not as high as they are, I would be concerned about selling them in the Paragon Market too, but, because they are the price they are in WW, this is the only way I can get a goodly amount without doing a million months worth of Tips and SSAs.
And respecs, respecs are on sale. Happy, happy, happy.
Lisa trudges out of this thread muttering about the shocking sticker prices in the WW. -
Quote:Did they actually log the toon in after they brought it back? The rename token shows up upon log in. There is nothing to say it worked at the character screen.I heard someone tried this recently and it was nerfed their toon arrived on the new server they had the name already taken on, with a 1 thrown onto the end and no free rename. So they had to move it back to the original server with the 2nd transfer AND buy a real rename token just to get the original back or select the new one
. That's just stupid. If people are willing to burn transfers they don't want so they can use it as a rename instead then stop throwing the stupid transfers at us and give us real rename tokens.

Hello all.
I am not sure thius is the right forum to be in..maybe I should contact support, but I hate to do that until I have done all I can do on my end to solve this problem...
I have one toon, my Street Justice/Willpower who has started spitting back my ingame email. I will send inspirations to myself to use while in a mission, and, as soon as I poke send, I will get a message saying I "claimed X from email" and it will pop back up in my Inspiration tray.
Yesterday It was doing it only sometimes, but today, so far at least, I can't send inspirations at all...nor can I send enhancements or recipes.
Any ideas I could try, or does it sound like something got corrupted and I need to send an email to support?
Thanks a million in advance.

I was getting ready to close down and start getting ready for bed, I work the overnights during the Christmas season, when I decided to take a look at the forums.
What I saw made me let out a very loud "OMG, OMG, OMG"
Respecs on sale, Kin Combats on sale, LOTG sets on sale....I, I don't know how much to thank you all who had fingers in this pie.
Lisa-Very happy camper. -

What would I buy if it was on the market?
Hmm...first on my wishlist would be inexpensive respecs. I love fiddling with my builds. I know I should go to the test server, but sometimes that just does not happen. I would probably buy a lot of these. Someone suggested a respec where you can just move slots around...I would be using these too
Second is a transporter or gizmo that would take me from the hospital to the exact place where I died..or if I was a teamer, back to my team..it could target the team leader as the drop off point.
Third would be a power that would take me back to the contact..which would help out on those really crazy fed ex missions where you do not have their cell phone number.
Fourth I would also like to buy some extra slots in my build so I could slot out the last power on a level 50 build. On a level 50 respec I used to find myself taking Fly or SJ last, as it does not take extra slots. However, with the advent of Spring Attack, I take SJ early and the end of a level 50 respec is now a lesson in frustration. I am always tempted now to take two travel powers on my Spring Attack toons....and I can see the day looming when I do just that.
And such is my wishlist

Quote:It would be washed away anyway by the tears caused by the solo "grind"
Big Wide Grin. No tears here. I don't mind grind at all. As long as the materials drop faster than shards, I will be happy. My 50s are not getting shards at all, at 2/2-2/4, so I am predisposed to be a happy camper
And, if I do fall flat on my face as far as incarnating myself goes, well, we will have new content for 50s
Street Sweeping PI at level 50 is sort of boring
Dark Astoria, hmmm,
Lisa wanders out of thread wondering which of her 50s is best suited to the job of fighting the Banished Pants. -
Quote:THe caltropes are still bad then? I ask because I did tips to try out a new build I came up with on my Dark/Regen scrapper and to my astonishment she runs through the Caltrops as if they are not there...on the Sister Jocasta mission, I zoomed about the room gathering up as large a bunch of Knives as I could...never slowed down. The biggest PITA mobs for that scrapper are Knives of Artemis thanks to those damned caltrops.... I'm coming to kill you... eventually... seconds .
And Knives of Artemis themselves were not inflicting much damage to my scrapper either.
When I completed the mission I was ready to go to the RWZ, and seek out more
Think I was only on 2/2 difficulty, no incarnate stuffs, though...not 4/8.
Hmm..not sure I have enough accuracy to do 4/8...it would be something like wiff, wiff, wiff, wiff, Oh pancake, wiff, wiff, wiff, Oh turkey feathers, wiff, wiff, Lisa storms off to the nearest inspiration seller to buy yellows.
Anyways, I am headed out to the game.

Until I read this thread, I was honestly hoping for a fair shake.
Something not as fast as teaming, but faster than what we have now..something structured, like the tip missions we now do.
But reading what everyone has to say...I am now doubtful of us getting anything good.
Which is ok as I have lots of alts, and lots of ideas for even more alts
As long as they supply us with new content we can solo, I am content.
Lisa-Wistful for could have been -
Victory crashed too.
I was doing a respec on my SS/Fire and rebelling about having to take the likes of Weave, and Soul.
I was about to do something different, like replace Soul with Earth or maybe Ice, when I got disconnected
Powers above must be tellin' me something.

I don't think the problem is with the pets we currently have, I think the Devs are looking into the future and saving us from ourselves.
I went to Freedom this afternoon, and saw three or four dogs frisking about Atlas square.
Imagine a team of 8 in a cave mission which each of those 8 have a pet dog and three other pets out..and don't forget the Masterminds and their regular pets.
I can see lag happening, and I can see people tripping over all the pets.
500 points is a lot of points, but, if they had made a realistic looking cat, I would have handed over my 500 points kitten quick.
Lisa. -
You name your kitten, who is always in the middle of trouble, Nemesis.
She is a cat now, and is still a trouble magnet

Quote:Truth this. The only thing this "fixes" is that your casual mace/fire broot can't get fast tickets anymore. The hardcore farmers that charge 40mil a run with 5 purples sets and vengence will just get more business.
Devs, not all of us players who have a /fire toon and enjoy the ambush farms are "farmers who charge 40 million a run with five purple sets and vengence"
I just like to earn enough tickets to get orange salvage...and it was very theraputic to beat up on waves of bad guys.
Now that you have nerfed my way of gaining orange salvage, how in the blue blazes can I get some to drop in regular gameplay???
When it comes to orange salvage after level 30 or so, the real number thingy hates all my toons guts. I get it very rarely.

Quote:/this.There has been a lot of downtime, BUT I am not complaining. There is SO MUCH new content I can barely keep up. I will take the downtime to keep the game new and fresh.
LOVING IT!
I may not be happy when I want to play and can't because of downtime, but, the new stuff added makes up for that.
Balance in everything.
Hmm..can you imagine how boring a perfect world would be????
If it were not for the bad times, we would never be able to savor, or even recognize, the good times in our lives...
So, downtimes are good for our souls

Quote:Smart *** comments are the reason I don't post very often. Let me explain a couple of things, I'm a 60 year old retired man so the opinions of people I think of as children don't really matter a lot to me.
I've been here as long as any of you whether I've been posting or not and my opinions and concerns are as valid as anyone here's. If you wish to impress someone with your wit go play with your peers and go mock someone else kid. Oh yeah, save the get off my lawn comments too.
This game is basically my hobby and it upsets me when I can't play. I'm well aware of the maintenence schedule and all of the stated caveats about downtime. It doesn't lessen the impact it has on me and if I wish to vent about it I will.
Err...I refuse to tell my age because I don't look like, or feel my age, but I am old enough that there is no way you can consider me a child.
Just because we are , gulp, "old" farts does not mean we no longer have to be polite. We can be more open with what we say as we have been there, done that, but, these youngsters probably know far more than us in certain things...I think it might have been our generation that was terrified to turn on one of those new fangled computers for fear it would explode or something silly like that
Anyways, telling people you don't care about their opinions seems...like something Lord Recluse would do
It is a perfectly fine thing to vent though. Cole knows I am not happy with the downtime either...but I cooked a wonderful breakfast, washed a ton of mismatched socks, and am now sitting at the computer about to read up on the Incarnate system since it seems we are finally to get a solo path
Hugs.

Lisa bounces back into thread....hello all. Instead of starting a new thread I am going to add to this one.
Irish Fury, I like your build and it is something to work towards, all those Kin Combats will take some time.
In the meantime though, I came up with what I call a Glorified SO build, IE, I went to the Paragon Market and took advantage of the Mako's bite sale...well, first of all I thought about what I wanted to do with my Fire/Fire.
Soloing GMs, and AVs, and Pylons, are definately not on my list of things I want to do with her, and I do solo, and I am a firm believer in using inspirations.
I also love using Ouroboris and redoing missions I have had fun with.
Long story short, I respeced into this build of mine and dashed out to do the "Who Will Die 3."
"Hmmm", thought I 'lots of bad guys in this one"
I completed it, and only after I finished, did it dawn on my to check my difficulty level.
I ran it on 0/8, and died three times, only three times, I could have died a lot more but I ran away like a little girl a couple of times
So, I think I am very happy with this build.
And now I come to you all with a question.
What is the best difficulty to farm for Shards/Purples????
Or do people farm for shards anymore?
I am so out of touch with the incarnate thing....ParagonWiki here I commmmeeeee

Quote:Not sure either.I don't know why folks are disagreeing with what I said, and then repeating it slightly differently.
I'm going to assume perhaps people are getting hung up on the word "claim"? "Claim" is being used very specifically here: after you buy it from the Paragon Market, you can claim that purchase exactly once: I was trying to make clear that you can't buy them and have some sort of per-character font of Touch of Death enhancements. You can buy a set and claim it from the Market with one character, and then it's claimed and you have enhancements.
Once you claim them, you can mail them to other characters on the same account. That includes the examples of unslotting them and moving them to someone else later. I'm not sure what I said in my original response that made folks think I was excluding that possibility.
You can indeed email these store bought IOs to your alts. When you add one as an attachment, the email system automatically types in your global email address..which I think is a nice touch.

Quote:Lisa looks shamefaced. I know, I know. I know I am accusing all of the story arc writers with getting the Fire Farms nerfed, and I know that is not good of me, but I enjoyed the freedom of being able to buy orange salvage with tickets, and as a happy bonus it did not take long to earn the required amount of tickets.Lisa, I like your posts, but I find this one baffling. The reason Fire Farms got whacked with the nerf bat wasn't because the story-focused AE users complained, it was because the rewards they offered were out of line with the effort involved in them.
If you really want to draw a parallel to this, I guess you could, but it's again a case of minimal effort (plonk down some $$) giving a better reward than you get from playing the game as designed, and I don't know that you want to make the case that less effort ought to lead to better rewards. IMO, that doesn't create a sustainable game.
I think there were overriding game balance reasons for the changes made, which may have made the authors happy but which were, at best, incidental to the happiness of that portion of the playerbase.
I'm curious why you seem to want to insult broad groups of players. That doesn't seem like you.
As far as it goes, I don't know that I have a particular problem with the selling of crafted IOs on the market, provided the price-point remains high enough that it won't obviate the in-game market. Like Adeon, though, I'm bothered by the precedent of selling strictly better versions of these sets. People keep saying, "Well, as long as there are no purples, I'm fine with it..."
Thing is, the types of bonuses offered by the purple sets are very limited. The ginormous +recharge bonus is nice, but purples don't generally grant non-psi defense bonuses (the exception being the 6th slot in the confuse set). Being able to keep your +def set bonuses down to 27 or 22 (respectively) means that these sets grant something purple sets cannot. They are better than the standard versions of these sets, and in terms of set bonuses granted, arguably better than the purple sets people seem fine with painting as "off-limits".
Then I read on the forums about how the authors are overjoyed that the Fire Farms are being nerfed...it was too much...
I felt so bitter, and so sour that I decided not to play any more AE Missions as a result, which is sad because I have lots of fav AE Mission arcs including one which I run all my brand new toons through to get the badges.
I wish, I wish, regular AE missions gave a better ticket yield. I don't care about the XP, for me it is all about the tickets
Anyways, I have always subscribed to the, "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade," theory...so, it is time to let go of the bitterness and find another source of getting orange salvage inexpensively. I hate to spend merits on orange salvage when it is crapshoot at what kind you get....have to think on this one.
Lisa-Going to play an AE story arc today....maybe two -
Quote:I am hoping that is her spirit on it's way to the "Spirit World"For criticism of the actual arc itself... This one really lost me. Way too much conning who your friend immediately kills. Oh, and the model that should have been a corpse fell to the floor and dusted herself off before fading out while a clone of her suddenly appeared, dead, on the floor.
If so, maybe she will help us in future issues

Quote:/This.The worst part?
Trying to find the damned contact.
I was looking for the name/ location of the contact, skimming through some threads here to see if I could find that out. Still don't know who it is, or where he is, but I have managed to spoil the "reveal" for myself.
When I saw the listing for number 3 in the Paragon Market, I went to the Help Channel to see if anyone knew the location. Failing that, I went to ParagonWiki and hit paydirt.
I adore ParagonWiki.

William Bradford is my Great X10 Grandfather on my mom's side of the family and I am related to three other Pilgrims as well, their names escape me at the moment though, so I had better buy this hat
Sigh. My dad always thought The Pilgrims were crackpots and so he teased us all about being related to the head crackpot...I miss those days.

Quote:I am not too sure it was just a fading Illusion. She was already dead, killed either by Darrin Wade or a player villain. That was an illusion fading.
When I ran this Villainside, to me it looked like her spirit got up off the floor, and this is City Of Heroes/Villains where ghosts do indeed exist
That said, I liked part three much better on Villainside than I did Heroside.
Lisa-Loved doing part three redside. Good Job. -
Quote:I made a build for my best friends fire/fire scrap and he is as tough as most brutes out there. I built for softcapped S/L defense and a decent amount of recharge. Generally his stupid good damage is enough to melt spawns before they ever get through his defense. He is easily the most survivable scrapper I have ever teamed with and gets many comments on his toughness when running TFs and the like. He and I duo'd an MoITF without breaking a sweat (I was on a WP tank).
The bad news, I am at work and don't have access to Mids to share the build. Once I am able, I will post the build so you can take a look and decide if it suits your needs.
In the meantime, play with Mids and try building for S/L defense first and then recharge. Took quite a few sets of Kin Combats, which are fairly pricey at WWs, but well worth the investment if you use the toon a lot.
Lisa throws a big Texas size hug at Irish Fury.
Very Pricy yes, but I have set several toons to work doing Tip missions and the Signature Story arcs...so mayhaps it is doable.
How many sets of Kin Combats????
Lisa-Rolling up her virtual sleeves and getting to work. -
Quote:Then, I will get these trays..might wait until/if they go on sale though....hmm..Paragon Developing People, putting these on sale might be a great Christmas presentThe extra trays actually increase the size of the enhancement window rather than making the enhancements smaller so you don't have to worry about that. They're freaking expensive but the QoL improvement they provide is so ginormous I personally had to go for it. You've clearly got my number, Paragon Studios.
Lisa.
Lisa bounces back into thread, cup of coffee in hand. Ok, via edit, I am back.
Forget Christmas...putting these on sale would make a good Thanksgiving present. Thanksgiving is a holiday to give thanks for all the blessings in our lives. Putting these on a Thanksgiving sale would show thanks to us customers for giving the game such a wonderfully long run, and us customers buying them would put cash into the game which would make the bean pushers smile.
Just an idea.
