Hee, Hee...I have a level 2 Blaster with the Atlas Medallion. Don't want to run her now and spoil it.

I am lucky as my hubby has a seperate account on another computer, but you could do this with a higher level friend.

Take the Base Transporter to Stringa, leaves you at Moonfire I think the contacts name is.

The higher toon sidekicks the lower one, and you both can go kill Warwolves and Vamprii or the lower toon can just stand there...pretty boring though.

If you use this method, be aware that the Vamprii only come out at night.

It works out ok though, kill Warwolves until sundown, kill Vamprii until the sun comes up, rinse and repeat.

The best way for getting the Vampryii kill though is that arc the people above are telling you about. Rinse and repeat until you have it.

Then, for the Atlas Medallion, you have to visit and read certain Plaques in Perez Park, Galaxy City, Kings Row, and Atlas to get the Pupil Badge and then do missions from contacts, and hope and pray you get the Fortune Teller mission contact at level 10...or have a friend who has it. My husband just happened to have that mission so I was able to do it as soon as I got the required kills.

To get the Fortune Teller mission contact, I visit my first contact, do the missions until I get referred to another contact, go and do that contact's missions until I get a new one....rinse and repeat, by the time I get to level 10, I have a lot of contacts.

At level 10, talk to all your contacts. If luck is shinimg on you, one will give you the coveted mission.

    Good luck

    TRUTH!!!!

My new lowbies had kitten fits doing Trick Or Treat...especially my brand new Fire/Invul.

She finally got all the Halloween TOT Badges solo, including all three Costume badges, but geeesh, I died so many times in the getting of them, that I think, have not looked, that I am almost to my first damage badge and she just turned level 10.

She is the lowbie I am taking to the test server to check things out.....if she can half-way survive, then there is great hope for my other more sturdier lowbies....or that is my theory at least

Looking forward to this...what a great day to have off
  3. Well, now that I have the time, instead of the frozen dinners I was going to nuke, I am going to cook Porkchops, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, and grumble the whole time.

My better half and I were involved in getting last minute Halloween badges together when we saw the notice of DOOOOOOM.

Well, doom for me because after dinner I have to go to bed due to a very early start time at work.

My Halloween event is over. Publishing in the morning, and fixing something in the evening....so much for the last day of the event.

    Oh well, such is life

Lisa wanders into thread...reads, comes to this post, and rereads.....errr.....where did he say he couldn't form a Posi at 9:30am Eastern on a Wednesday?

And about server pop...players can hide from everything and everybody....I do it sometimes. Players can also create their own 8 person teams so you will not hear them pleading for fillers.

So, unless you know the number of the hidden "Shy Ones" on the servers, your truth might not be a truthful as you think it is.

And, I am sincere about what I am going to say next..on the Internet it is hard to glean snarkyness from sincerity, I do applaud you for having self confidence to stand up for the truth as you see it...not real sure about the part where your truth told you Westly couldn't form a team on Wednesday morning though...I .must of skipped over a post, or misread one. That happens.

Anyways. I think I am going to "Hide from everything" and do some Trick Or Treating.

Cheers..and take take those of us hidden peeps under consideration when talking about server pops.

  5. It is 9:30 Central time here, and I am unable to get on Test.

I logged into my better half's computer and could not get on Test via his account either.

Sooooo... is it up and hubby and I have problems, or is it still down?

Grin, I heard about walking and I want to try it out

    Lisa.
  6. Blush...you know, as I typed out that list I thought something was missing. I was about to shut down thecComputer when I decided to look at my post one more time....sure enough, I did mess up and forget something. I do indeed have Thunderstrike.

Thanks for the catch DSorrow..and I mean it with all my heart. I hate forgetting things, and being unclear about things.

    Lisa-Wishes she were perfect.
  7. Hello all.
I am having such a great time with my Dark/SR on Infinity, I decided to make a Elec/SR on Victory.

I have no experience with the Electric Primary, so I feel like I am flying blind so to speak.

I created her and a whole host of alts on double XP weekend and my goal was to get each of them to level 21 with the exception of my Spines/Elec who had to get to level 23.

Because of my number of alts, I rushed through the levels and did not give myself time to get to know Chain Induction very well. "This is a silly power, I need more Oomh" I screamed at the top of my lungs the whole way to Galaxy City and a respec.

I dusted her off a bit ago, and got her to level 22 via TOTing.

I am going to give a listing of her powers, but before I do I want to make one thing clear...I primarily solo. I got on a zombie team yesterday with my Katana/Ele. Before I joined, I made sure the leader knew I was a soloist...grrrrr...in midfight this leader person made me leader, and told me to find a few healers....flabberghasted and horrified in equal parts, I quit team.

What I want to know is do I have the right mix of powers for my level, and for what I am doing with them..soloing.

Primary I have Charged Brawl, Havoc Punch, and Jacobs Ladder.

Secondary I have Focused Fighting, Agile, Practiced Brawler, Dodge, and Quickness.

Pool Powers I have Flight and Fitness.

    Fitness-Swift, Health, and Stamina

    Flight-Air Sup

I also have Ghost Axe and sometime today I ding 33 months and get my purple stick (Blackwand)

I will gladly respec if I should drop Charged Brawl or Havoc Punch and pick up Chained Induction.

So, what powers should I have now???? Or am I on target??? I will be most probably sticking to my Primary and secondary powers and not pick up an epic.

Anyways....thank you all for any help. I appreciate it.

Now, have to scoot my boots to work
    Lisa.

I took Energize first for the same reason Rieze did in number 1.

It was an easy ride between levels 20 and 22, but I had neither Lightning Field nor Quills...if my secondary was Willpower or Regen I would have had one or both, but I was not sure about /Elec.

Once I hit level 24 I did a respec, brought in Lightning Field, three slotted it, and grinned like a loon because I love it

Lisa-has the day off and a steaming mug of black coffee in front of me....life is good :
  9. Hi Bud.
I think you really like your idea, and you think it doable, so I say do it.

If you decide you are not happy with it that is what respecs are for.

If you take Dodge and Lucky only because everyone here is telling you to, you will always be wondering what the toon would be like had you done what you wanted to.

Remember the Strong And Pretty thread where Mr Playschool bucked public opinion, made a Warmace/Energy Brute, before the buffs, and had a great time with it Even drew pics of it's adventures

It's your toon, your skills, your ideas.

Who knows, if you succeed at it, people might rub their chins, wrinkle their brows, and go hmmmm, and before you know it you have started a fad

    Good luck with it.
    Lisa.
  10. And sometimes old outleveled story arcs are a goood thing to have.

Imagine a pair of level 50s romping through a level 45 carnie mission set for 8.

Everything those Master Illusionists threw at us never stood a chance.

    It was sick.
  11. Goggles....rubs her eyes and goggles again....still there

That is a lot of influence....

Did you list it for that much, or were you taken by surprise?

    Gratz!

    Lisa
  12. I hope they sneak in the ability to have the last glowie/critter show up on the map
    Lisa.
  13. I respeced out of this power on my Elec/SR as I recognized I needed more oomph in my build. I will take it later on when I have more powers and some Invention Sets in place. Sometimes I find a power that is offered early, is better taken later. For me at least, this power is one of those.

First you bake your cake, then you frost it.

And about the Devs intending us to use matching Primary and Secondaries . . .if this is so, does that mean Willpower is meant to be Duel Blades secondary of choice as they came out the same time?

Big, wide, mischievous grin..I am going to say it is so, because, I made my very first Duel Blades toon and Willpower is my secondary

    Lisa
  14. I know this is not a secondary, but My Dark/Regen and Fire/Fire use Petrifying Gaze from the Dark Mastery to put a muzzle on Sappers. It holds the sapper, and thus allows them to be defeated in perfect safety.

My Dark/SR on the other hand looks for Malta missions in the AE. She laughs at them.

My Spines/Elec is too young yet to meet up with Sappers, but I can't wait
  15. Hmmmm....I had a little lag, but not enough to complain about it.

I hit that patch in Steel Canyon a couple times, the one where where my screen totally freezes and it looks like I have a picture on my toon flying flying through the air on my monitor instead of a 3D environment...not sure where it is exactly. I am always too busy cussin' and doing the ALT-TAB-DELETE thing which is the only way to get out, to take a coordinate reading, but I do know it is pretty close to the Yellow Line.

I solo, and have "No Teaming" on my Team locater message thingy, and I was still being asked to team all weekend on Victory so teams were indeed out there.

I too was sad about the MA being down, but hey, I took my new toons through the Hollows arcs, the Midnighter's Club missions, they did all the Faultline stuff, and also did the Skyway City safeguard which got them the Rez Temp Power.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

    FTW!

    Lisa.

When I said checking Coordinates, I cannot do it the official way /loc as nothing works, but I could look about my screen and jot down notes as to my location...which I think of as coordinates, but, the only thing on my mind is restarting the game.
  16. McCharraigin

    My new guy!

    Grin! That is impressive.

A few days ago, without prior planning to do it, I got the Atlas Medallion on my level 2 Archery/Ice Blaster. My better half was on his level 50 Mind/Kin controller hunting down the badges he had missed...I came out of Outbreak feeling punky, and asked him if he needed some damage to kill things.

"Err, you do realize I am a level 50, and you are a level 2???" said he

    "A twirpy controller" laughed I

Somehow we ended up in Striga with all the Vamps and Puppies.

It was lots of fun. I hate being speed boosted, and he kept me perma speed boosted.

After lots of shrieks, and bragging, and lots, and lots, of laughs, I got both badges.

He dug about in his list of characters and found one who had the Fortune Teller mission contact. He got the mission, invited meee to it, and, bingo, Atlas Medallion on a level 2

I too love this new sidekicking method . . . lots and lots
  17. I blame Karl for being the person who sent me a tell this morning stating that I should read the patch notes as there is now a Jetpack Seller in Perez Park..I was swimming to Portal Corp at the time...wanted to see if I could make it...and I did
  18. Hee, Hee..this is funtastic. I got the Dark Fiend badge, then decided to wait for live.

I knocked on a few doors and got two treats right off the bat, and my first trick included a spectral.

I cannot wait. I do not team, but I am teaming for this.

    Lisa.
  19. Hello everyone.

My hubby's experiment with us in a leveling pact is working so well that he wants another pact so don't have to run the same two toons constantly, and will be able to build up Patrol XP so dying won't hurt as much...I am a Rad/Ice Blaster in this Pact so I can, and do die

He has a,too early in the morning, Kin/Psy/ Psy/Kin???? Defender he wants to run.

My main two "Have to Haves" are I want to make a toon I can solo with when he is not around, and not die constantly... if he decides to break the pact because he decides he does not like his toon, I want to be able to keep on going..solo.

IOs in the build are doable, but not the mega expensive ones like LOTG. I turn 33 months in three weeks, so I will have the Ghost Slayers Axe and Blackwand.

I have wracked my brains over this and cannot come up with a single idea. I like scrappers and am just now getting into Blasters. Tanks do not have any damage otherwise I would jump at making one..

    Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Please note this is not a troll or nerf post. Once you factor IO's into the situation it seems like WP beats everything other than shields, depending if you want pure damage or pure survivability.
I might be dead wrong, and since I have not had my first cup of coffee I probably am but the sets were created as if everyone was slotting SOs (Shakes fist at Shields) ,

Willpower is good at all, master at none....with SOs.

So, if you were playing with just SOs....you will see the sets as they were intended. With IOs it is a new ballgame.

But, I am tired and groggy...what do I know...

Lisa-about to ask her own question, then brew coffee.
  21. Grin. My better half got City Of Heroes around Christmas. I would watch over his shoulder, and enjoy watching, but when he asked me if I wanted to play, I would shudder and tell him it was way to violent....and I had never played a video game, and I was too clutzy...

I tried to make up for it by fetching him beer and snacks, and during double XP weekend I ensured he had all he needed to keep on killing.

Anyways, he felt I would really like it and the more questions I asked about what I was seeing over his shoulder, the more confident that I would indeed enjoy the game.

Sooo....He bought me a copy of the Good Vs Evil edition, paid for a year's subscription fee, installed the game on my computer, and even bought me a new video card and power supply when it was found my computer was lacking in that respect...all the while I was yowling like a scalded cat that I did not want to play.

I finally caved in because he had spent all that money...for the video card, he went to Best Buy and asked the salesman which video card he would install in his mother's computer if she were to take up City of Heroes....it was not cheap.

And, I decided this was something we could do together.

That was almost 33 months ago, actually, 33 months at the end of this month!

Those who want your wives and giirl friends to play.....beware.....she is going to want to kick off her shoes, and play the game upon coming home from work...your house or apartment will never be sparkling clean again, you will start to eat more take out, you might have to take up doing laundry, and she will wake you up in the early hours of the morning with a simply wonderful idea for a toon

    Lisa-Looking forward to Blackwand

Fighting pool is largely taken mostly as a series of set mules. 4 slotted Kinetic Combat in boxing or kick (which is never used or even on the tray), Tough so they can slot the Steadfast Res/Def earlier than level 41 (if they so desire) and Weave, which is the only toggle really run, which can give 5%ish defense when slotted. Tough can be run too (if you have good endurance recovery, which IOs make possible), and stacks nicely with your epic armor for respectable amount of resists.

Whereas in the past, a blaster running fighting pool would've been laughed at, IO slotting allows for unconventional power choices to work. Generally, fighting pool would be awful if it didn't allow you to cap defense in some way.

Another thing that makes fighting pool more attractive is that mezzes don't drop defensive toggles.

I recommended putting Steadfast Res/Def into frozen armor because replacing the one of the 4 Reactive Armor pieces would lose a valuable 2.5% smashing/lethal defense bonus (note: he's going for soft capping the defense). Replacing out one of the Gift of the Ancient pieces on the other hand, costs you some defense enhancement and 1.8% max end (which is a nice bonus), but better to lose that than the 2.5% smash/lethal defense. If you have an open slot, you can still make an argument that the res/def should go to frozen armor since the resistance portion of the IO will enhance the resistance values of frozen armor, whereas the 4 Reactive Armors, cap the resistance value of tough.

As for exemping, that's entirely a player's choice. Generally, I don't worry about global bonuses exemping largely because I assume that my character's more slots/powers and larger inspiration tray already gives it an advantage versus natural characters of that level.
Fury Flechette, this is such a wonderful informative post, I am going to save it, and probably refer to it more than once.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions in such an easy to understand manner

So basically, as long as I keep moving I can keep myself softcapped with only 32.5% "real" defense, making up the remainder with a purple inspiration.

Not sure if it will work for everyone, but I find it works for me.
Good call, JohnnyKilowatt This methodology works for my Fire/Fire Scrap and my Regen scrap.

I discovered the usefulness of this method when leveling my Dark/SR . This use of of purples is the reason I finally went with Weave on my /Regen and /Fire....no way could I achieve a survivable level of defense using set bonuses without sacrificing too much accuracy and recharge, but I could get enough defense bonuses to meet the purple inspirations half way..or at least to Kissing Cousins level, which, as wonderful people here have pointed out to me, is hella better than no defense at all.

  24. Lisa tilts her head to reed this thread with her no line trifocals, usually wear contacts and reading glasses but am going to work where I have to read real small print, silently reads all the ages and sighs with relief that she is not the oldest, then pumps her fist in the air because although I am old in years, I am not old in my way of thinking, or my outlook

Lisa-Grinning her best old ladies grin

    Oh, and I am 50!
  25. Hello. I have been eyeing this build and I hope you guys do not mind but I have questions.

First of all. I am very recent to the world of serious Blasterdom...I am a scrapper type person.

I opened Mids, and instantly found myself with lots of, what you guys probably will classify as dumb questions.

Dumb question number one. When Mezzed, Blasters have the use of their first two primary powers, and the first of their secondary. My dumb question is, in this build, where is Flares? Do Blasters not get mezzed in the higher levels?

Dumb Question number two. I was under the impression, ie I read this somewhere and now can't remember where, that the Fighting pool was Meh for Blasters and not worth the endurance cost....which confused me, as getting the fighting pool is something I take as soon as possible on all my squishy scrappers. Fighting pool is ok for Blasters? I am leveling a Rad/Ice who is AlWAYS in melee, and has been from level 2...and with her powers being what they are, I cannot see her stopping this practice.

Dumb Question number three, I noticed in one build the Steadfast level 30, was put in a level 44 power when it could have put it into Tough at level 28 ...which brings me to my last dumb question...

Dumb Question number four-Lots of level 50 IOs sets. Are you going to be exempting? If not, that answers my question about Dumb Question number three. If you are, you can only exempt to level 47 and retain full bonuses. The way issue 16 is set up to be exempting friendly, exempting is something to consider when planning what level IOs to use...or is this to be your main build, and you have a second one for exempting?

Sorry if I am full of questions...but I truly want to learn and understand.

    Thanks so much.
    Lisa.
