Sadly, what is perfect for one person, is not perfect for another. People have different likes, dislikes, and differing skill levels. Some people swear by defense on a pure resistance toon, other people swear at it. To find your perfect build, you are going to have to make a Fire/Fire and get out there and play it.

Take all the primary and secondary and get a feel for how they work together...might take a couple of respecs, but well worth it.

Two things..take Burn, and keep in mind that they gave one of the best self rezzes in the game to the /fire secondary for a reason. Due to balance, you will feel like a glorified blaster...but that's alright..a little debt builds character

    Good luck.

True. I think us soloers might be more in number than the Devs know. Some data mining might be called for before continuing on this course..the day I can't solo anything is the day I quit.

  4. Well, let's see. I love how easy and quick it is to get from Talos to Galaxy for a respec now.

Issue 19 and all it's respecs also opened my eyes to the beauty of /cleartray

/cleartray makes putting my trays in order after the respec sooo much easier.

I am enjoying all of issue 19

I know someone has probably beaten me to it, but Wanted, you don't have to go to Steel Canyon Icon. Just trot over to Vanguard, and do your fixing there

Lisa-Has spent a lot of time there on level two toons.

I still have the Syndicate design on the pants of a few of my Blasters....when I found them no longer available for new characters I was very sad as I liked the look.

When I first encountered the Syndicate in a Praetorian Mission, I saw the design on their pants and I saw red.

"Take this you pant decal stealing crooks" I shrieked as I destroyed them.

I would love it if that pant design came back

Actually, the 17th would be great for me.

I am on the overnight shift throughout the holidays which means I get off work at 6:00am, grab breakfast and coffee, and can start my mass respecting before I crash at 2:00PM..and I have the talent of going from being wide awake and bushy-tailed to falling asleep at the keyboard within seconds, internal alarm clock I guess, so plenty of time for respecs. Bring it on

    5 Years later...

Lisa hops into the thread smiling broadly.

I am probably the most unlikely of COH players. As well as being female, I am probably old enough to be a granny to a lot of you

Growing up I never bothered a lot with games. I have a poor short term memory, meaning it takes several tries for me to get stuff loaded into long term memory, and I am a clutz, and, what's worse, I am an emotional type of person.

Sooooo....Being an emotional clutz who doesn't catch on to things lickedly split..gaming never held any sort of appeal to me.

45 months ago, my better half bought himself an early Christmas present. It was City Of Heroes. He was hooked on it. I would enjoy looking over his shoulder and watch the fights, but, when he asked me if I wanted to play I would look at all the violence, shudder, think about doing what he was doing, but with my clutziness, and I would shudder again.

I tried to make up for it. I encouraged his talking about it, I would bring him snacks and meals to his computer when he was in a taskforce or something, I would perch over his shoulder, and discuss with him about what he was doing.

Finally, a couple of months later, Mark thought it was time. He bought another copy of the game, and despite my very loud protests, he installed it on my computer. He then paid for a year's subscription and even bought me a new video card and power supply.

He was soo sure I would love the game if only I would try.

I vividly recalll making my first toon.

It was Friday and I had the day off. I stood in Outbreak scared to my very toes..you see I had read the forums in an attempt to understand things, and I read a thread about how the more experienced players disliked noobs, and kicked them off of teams..being kicked off a team sounded horrible.

Anyways, I was a clutz, and had never played a video game before, and was, thanks to my forum reading, convinced that all the other players would see I was a noob and make disdainful comments to me, and, and, and,I was emotional about the whole thing...I was in Outbreak the whole darn day.

I couldn't run in a straight line, nor could I jump over a car....and when I saw other players I froze. My fingers were frozen on the keyboard, my eyes staring intently at whatever player crossed my path...Oh mee.

Mark came home from work, and when he finished laughing his head off, he made a toon, went into Outbreak and dragged my toon by the ear into Atlas Park.

I am now quite addicted. I still cannot run in a straight line, but I can leap over cars in a single bound, and I am not at all afraid to send a tell to another player and engage in conversation

    I love this game
  15. Tylerst,GavinRuneblade,DreadShinobi, and Obscure Blade.

Thank you all very much. You have given me a lot of food for thought.

    /Fire it is then.

I have a Plant/Fire in Praetoria. I was waiting for the diff sliders and the Stamina inherient goodness before playing her more, but I think I am now convinced to make the final push to get her Blueside.

Thank you four. I truly appreciate the info.

    Lisa.
  16. Hello all.
With the Winter event a few months away, I have started thinking about Snaptooth. In the past I have brought him down with scrappers, but this year I am having fun with Dominators.

What do you think would be a great Dominator combo for soloing the Snaptooth mission, the one that has been around for years and years

    Thank you all in advance.

Does your /kin controller want Stamina or Speed Boost for Posi runs? Does the /SR scrapper want Stamina or Quick Reflexes? Now, you can have both!
Does your /Ice blaster want Stamina or Ice Patch...yes, I thought of that

    Lisa.
  18. I find most all the levels fun--

1-10 is all about racing to get enough contacts so by level 10 I get the Spelunker mission..issue 19 is going to make this not as important

10-15 is pretty dry so I either do radios if I am in a big hurry to level, or if I am not in a big hurry I find arcs to get merits

15-20 is Faultline and more Radios or Arcs....I love the Faultline stuffs

20-25- I finish up Faultline and move into Striga.I love the Ring Of Peebles power..

25-Croatoa, Ouroboris missions, Radio and Story arcs, and Tips

    30-Return to Croatoa.

Hmmm...starting with the end of the Croatoa arcs and ending with level 40, is the stretch I most dislike. Feels like a dry desert to me....except now they have tips and that might work in sweetening it

    Good thread.

    Lisa.
  19. Hmmm...all my female toons are short, slim..push the sliders all the way to the, err, left?

Reading all this makes me want to cart one off to Icon, and punch the chest sliders all the way to the ..right..left? The bigger side.

Hmmmmm again..wonder if she will tip over with all that unbalanced weight

    Lisa-Grinning.
  20. Noooo...I always liked your posts..but I can see the need to get away for a bit.

The owner of the SGs I am in has been playing since beta. About five or so months ago, forgot how long it has been, she sent me a tell stating that she was going to let her subscription run out and play WOW with her husband. She gave Mark and I the red stars to her SGs, even gave me the influence off of one toon....well, earlier this month I was looking at my Global friends list, and there she was, playing on Freedom

So, hopefully, one day, I will open the forums and there you will be

    Take care, and hugs.

    Lisa.

Secondly, my husband never said that it was a crap set, just that I have had some unfortunate difficulty with it.

And thirdly, I am not a crap player just because I am having difficulty with this combination of powers. Sorry I'm not as perfect as you are.

Edit - Since a couple of you claim that its such a perfect combo that can tear through anything, care to share the build that you're using?
Starkitten, I have a friend who is a good player, excellent player, and he has complained about this set's squishyness, so it is not just you.

I have a level 50 Fire/Fire scrap. I found that Air Sup is wonderful, as is admitting you are squishy and finding the right difficulty level. Sometimes I run 1/1 other times I run 2/2.

Against fiery enemies though, I take off the gloves and ramp up the difficulty

Big wide grin, and, well,....there is a reason /fire was given one of the best rezzes ingame. Death is part of the animal that is /fire...unless you are IOed to the gills of course.

Ohhh, and try the new temp powers....stun 'nades comes to mind. If they are doing the drunk walk, they are not shooting at you, and another, Gabriel's hammer, hits like a truck, Saint Louis Slugger will fling a mob away from you allowing you time to get the hell away.

    Hope I helped a bit.

My level 24 Fire/Electric Brute, Cinderwatt, looks at your numbers, recalls her solo Halloween Tip Missions where she danced through all of them without a scratch (I was very proud of her) and tells me, to tell you, that numbers are only part of the equation.

Err...what...ok...she also says to tell you she is not craptastic and is looking forward to burning and draining Riktis and Carnies and Malta in the near future, and really hopes she can strut her stuff against the invading Praetorians.

Anyways, unless I am better at building and playing this particular brute than I know, you should look somewhere else other than Fire/Elec for the most craptastic Brute.

In a team setting, I hear Energy Melee is pretty crappy, solo though, it rocks like a big dog.
Soo, are you looking for the most craptastic Brute combo Solo or teamed?

As far as Energy Melee goes, that does make a difference.

    Off to work with meeee

Lisa-Enjoyed this thread..thank you for creating it, and I mean sincerly, no sarcasm, I truly enjoyed it

    Halloween Mobs

I too have had problems with TOTing with my lowbie doms..however..to my great surprise and delight..my lowbie Stone/Elec Brute is having a good time TOTing. She leveled from level 6 to level 8 in a very short period of time doing this. I am afraid for what this will do to her contact tree..but so far so good

And yes, Vamps hit hard...very hard.

Whew. I come back to this thread fully rested and sipping a cup of coffee and I find this thread has grown.

Sorry, if I acted silly about my response to Whirling Hands killing Regen. If they do the drunk walk out of my Regen field, well, they are too looped to attack me, so it is all good.

One good thing to come out of my pout born of emotional fatigue from work, after leaving the forums, I logged into the game and created a Stone/Elec Brute. I made her in Praetoria, and she is just awesome. So fun to play, I don't even look at my fury bar.

So if you all see a Stone/Elec Brute named Eppi Center running around on Victory, be assured that the nut behind the keyboard is cackling with glee

Once again, sorry about the tone of my post I made yesterday...but...out of the darkness, came brightness, so, maybe it had to be

Oh, and you can have pink pom poms on any toon now...there is one of the new Going Rogue Auras, Omega I think it is called, the one with the sunburst. Make it on fists only and color it pink. They look like Pom poms to me.

    Hugs to everyone here

Lisa-And, hey, it is the start of the Halloween event, and I have the day off, Win
