Quote:Cien_Fuegos...they just announced this. You can't quit until you see how it will be implanted. You just might decide you like it....life is strange like that...I hate f2p so I'm out all my stuff goes to rookery from my 52 50s also names will be up 4 grab
Example, As a child I refused to try turnip greens. They looked yucky, they smelled yucky, but once I was bribed into actually tasting some...Yummmm....I had a new fav food which I love to this day.

wanted to make our game better. I wanted to listen to our players. What were our players asking for?"

Some of us are now asking to be able to do some soloing in the Endgame. You locked us out, and tossed the key into Silver Lake
Lisa trudges out of the thread telling herself she has to have more faith in the Devs, and it isn't over until the fat lady sings...if they listened "then," they will listen now as well"

Quote:Hugs I am soo glad things are finally looking up for you and yours.MA Friends,
I've been pretty absent from the game and even missed every single AE Invasion despite wanting to attend them, alas it's been because of a real life issue that has been taking all my time/energy.
My 21 year old son, @Kinetic Jaunt, became suddenly ill about two months ago and after many, many tests it was determined that he has a rare disease know as Aplastic Anemia. He requires a bone marrow transplant and we were extremely lucky, if anything about this can be called lucky, in that his only full sibling is a match (there is only a 25% chance full siblings will match). He is currently in the hospital and as soon as he's strong enough, hopefully in the next week, he will start chemo and a week after that his brother will go in to make the donation.
Once he is strong enough, he will return to CoH thanks to the great people at NCSOFT who gave him two free months of game time. He does have his computer in the hospital and may even try logging in from there once he's up to it.
Both of my sons started playing CoH in May 04 and are the ones responsible for getting me into it. Though, my younger son no longer plays (college and all that), he still listens to my stories about what I've been up to writing/playing MA arcs.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank NCSOFT and let you all know because I consider so many of you my friends.

Lisa-Sending warm healing thoughts your way -
Hello all.
I was playing an AE mission with my Claws/Fire today, when a Bone Daddy sent a gust of neg energy my way which was a tad too strong for me and I died.
I poked the hospital button, and instead of the Hospital, I found myself falling through the air, yet there was no ground to stop my falling. I saw doors and windows without buildings, and lots of blue skies with white fluffy clouds.
I turned on the Pocket D transporter, and it worked
I exited Pocket D via Port Oaks exit, and found myself falling through space again. Same blue skies and fluffy white clouds, but this time I saw things. I saw people walking, cars floating, windows and doors, but no buildings, I even saw player toon at the Black Market.
I tried to do a /whereami but it would not work..so I sent a stuck petition in anyway...I really did not want to have to start the mission all over again.
Within a minute, maybe less, GM V_Harris swoops in like a Hero should, and sent me to Mercy. Unfortunately, my computer froze while zoning, so I had to restart anyway, but it is alert, caring people like GM V_Harris that keeps this game as wonderful as it is.
If you are reading this GM V_Harris, thank you for being bright-eyed and bushy-tailed today

Quote:No - I think it's an ugly style - the costume parts are cool and well made, but the whole steampunk thing isn't something I'm a fan of
I don't think there's a guide, because bases are mostly about looks rather than function, sobuilding is a matter of personal opinion and taste - a base building guide would be similar to a costume creating guide - there's no "right" or "wrong" way to design the look of your costume/base.
Well, you go to register person and register for a base...what then? How do you get a base to go into? How do you build the rooms? My better half was experimenting one day and he made a hole in the floor and couldn't figure out how to fix it, I couldn't figure out either...we finally have to send a tell to a friend who is a base builder to come rescue our floor.
I guess I mean a guide for getting up, and running, when you know nothing...
But thanks for the reply Golden Girl. I appreciate it

Quote:EU_Damz, I am threadjacking a bit to say I love the sunny, happy expression you have in your avatar. I think it is rubbing off on me, because I have a smile on my face now when before it was fixed into a truly horrible scowl....horrible enough to scare catsThe new auras/costume pieces in i20.5 has already made me want to make about 5 new alts
A new costume piece/powerset always gives me a new idea for a new character!

Quote:Base building..grumble, grumble. I own at least one on every server, and on some servers I have two..I did not build a single one, and have no idea how to do so.I wish they'd focus more on the costume designer and super group base building system, its the only real thing other than the AE that CoX has better than the competition.
Particularly the base building, neither competing game has that.
I went looking for something like a "Base Building For Dummies" guide but found nothing. No guides written for stupid people like me
It is as if the Base Builders belong to a special club, and don't want to allow the masses to learn how to build their own for fear they will no longer be special snowflakes.
And they then screech at the top of their special Snowflake lungs for more base building tools....sorry. I am not in the best of moods...I wanted to play my Claws/Fire Brute and instead I have to wait, wait, and wait, while they do maintance on a Tuesday.
But still, I have looked for a guide written in language I can understand, and I have found not one thing...which is why I wrote the above.
Sigh.
All of you out there who are wonderful at math and figuring things out instantly...I salute you, and pray that you all understand how blessed you are.
Lisa-Glum and ill tempered. When the game comes up, I am going to find one of these newfangled Fire Farms and go whack things...no, my Claws/Fire is still too young ..those who live in the Fire farm will whack her...and that will make me moodier... -
Figures. I get home from work, do the litterbox scooping thing, take a hot shower, change into my omfy tshirt and try to log onto Victory..and it be down.
Oh wells.

Jessica Yardley here..and you know....I like it.
Lisa. -
A big thanks to those gave me encouragement with my SS/Fire Brute.
She hit 50, and I decided to unlock her Alpha this morning.
WOW...Trapdoor went down like a little girl..he didn't even have time to call his helpers.
I ended up fighting Honoree and whatshis name at the same time while under the curse of weariness...I gave them both a true Texas whomping..
The arc's last elite boss was the hardest..sorry I can't recall his name...I have a summer headcold right now and am lucky to remember my own name, but I did defeat him without him defeating me even once
And I don't have a single Kinetic Combat in my build, nor any of the sought after, expensive IO sets. I have Weave and Combat Jump, and the Steadfast Unique but other than the Energy Defense bonuses I get from my Eradications, that is all of my Defense.
My mind staggers at what I could do with the IOs all the cool kids have, and the high levels of Defense they give.
SS/Fire is good stuff!
Lisa.
Once again, thanks all -
Quote:I happen to like being able to go to the Blackmarket and actually finding stuff for sale at affordable prices..or are you saying this with tongue in cheek? Hard to tell in the printed word.I'm not sure but it seems a lot of the IOs you can get from tickets have crashed (reactives are down to 6-15 rather than 20m, res/def is now 20ish rath than 30-40, ToD and decimation crashed, regen tissue is crap now, etc etc) while purple have gone up. If this continues purple farming might end up being better. My guess is that a lot of people have started farming AE so the supply is now a lot more than the demand...thats not good.
Lisa-Confused at how a market that actually has things to sell at reasonable prices can be bad.. -
Quote:Lisa sits up straight in her chair and stares at screen...Glam hair for males...I could do things with that...let it be..pleaseThe 80s were great. I'd take 'em again.
Though... booster pack? Real "glam" hair - for males? Keytar powerset? "Greed is Good" market/INF bonus? Single glove costume piece and "moonwalk" temp travel power? "MTV" temp power that plays actual music?
Lisa. -
Looks like he enlarged the picture too much..but what do I know, I have not played with Photo manipulation since I started playing this game..but when I did, and I enlarged a pic too much, I seem to remember that I would get results that looked like this.
Lisa...the 80s huh??? -
Quote:Scowl. That is a very sore subject for me. I was excited when I first heard about the Sentinel. I can run Mids just fine so I was sure I could do this....how wrong I was.You can use "titan sentinel" to copy your build and export that into mid's for modification and then use mid's handy respec feature to help you respec your build
I download to the desktop just fine. Know what happens when I click on the icon to get to the zip file....By my sainted Aunt Ester's knickers..my screen suddenly starts blinking and flashing, and it loads and opens copies of Internet Explorer at lightning speed. I managed to run a virus scan, and when it came back clean I shut the computer down.. deleted the file, went back to Titan and downloaded a fresh copy.....I scanned this file before opening, then clicked on it...same blasted thing happened. So I shut down the computer immedietely...but not before I had 24 copies of Windows open...sigh.
I waited a week, then tried it again....same thing happened....It hates my computer.
Lisa-Scowling at the memory. If I had a tail it would be lashing. -
Quote:It is a pain, but you can do what I saw my hubby do and take a pic of your build with your phone and use that as a guide. It really would be nice if they took one of the zillion ideas players have posted over the last 7 years about respec and implement them.
Respecing is a pain as it is now and I cannot imagine how a non SG solo player can even do a respec.
Without babbling on, whining or rambling please address this issue.
I normally just write it all down in a notebook and use that as a roadmap...also the process of writing it down engraves it in my memory so I rarely need to look at my notebook
When the respec is done, I do a quick /cleartray and drop the powers back into position. A chore which normally goes kitten quick.
And I have to ask...what does belonging to a SG have to do with getting respecs done? Or are you talking about finding a respec team? If all else fails you can buy a recipe in WW or pay ten bucks for one....which I have done...they don't dare put respecs up for half price..I would buy one for all my active toons
I have done freespecs in WW, under a tree in Talos, once I did one on a roof in Dark Astoria..rarely do I do one in the base.
Lisa.
Edit...Mark was on test when he did his respec. He took a pic of it, then went to the live server and did it for reals -
Quote:I am not really one to answer this as I am not a numbers person, but I do have both Scrappers and Brutes, and while I do have IO builds they are not ones filled with the "Hawt stuffs."I'm considering making an Electric Melee/Fire character. I know that Brutes have better hit points and resist caps and more aura damage, while Scrappers get better damage from Lightning Rod. What are the pros/cons for an Elec/Fire that isn't made for farming, no fancy expensive IO builds; just a frankenslotted character meant for general play. If I go scrapper for the better out-of-the-box damage will the lower survivability be noticeable? If I go Brute will the lower damage be a big deal?
So, talking as Jane on the street, casual player, since we are talking/Fire here, I would go Brute. I say this because/Fire scrappers are close to Blasters in survivability..and I suspect that is why /Fire has one of the best and most funnest self Rezzes in game.
But you have a point about about Lightning Rod being better on scrappers...hmmm.
You could always eat some red and yellow candy before firing it off. I find chewing on the reds helps a lot while my fury is subpar. And Lightning Rod, whether is does uber damage or not, is a lot of fun.
Elec/Fire does sound fun...quick and attractive looking attacks, AOEs....urggg, I might have to make one. If I do I will go Brute and take Ghost Widow as my Patron. Soul good.
Good luck.

Quote:/ELA is a fine set.
With tough your sitting at around 58% to S/L. Your capped to energy damage. You can easily be at 40% resist to psi and getting to 50 isn't hard. You can ignore end drains and slows don't make much of a dent into your recharge.
By using Power Sink as a proactive tool to end drain spawns and lightning field to keep the end drained you greatly increase your survivability in large spawns.
I have always found that /Ela tends to shine in things like the LRSF, Apex, Tin Mage or the new trials where there is a large amount of Energy and Psi damage.
Of course the set is much better on IO's than just SO's but then what set isn't?
This, Oh yes, this.

Quote:My level 43 Fire/Elec Brute has no defense bonuses as yet, and she gleefully melts everything in sight and is highly survivable in almost all situations..some situations I have to chomp some purplesIts a pretty dreadful set for survival unless you can heap a lot of inf on and layer defenses.
Lisa-Loves her Fire/Elec Brute Spines/Elec, amd Katana/Elec scrappers -
Quote:Any help..well ok.OK, I feel like such an idiot for being stuck on this, but so help me I am! I need a name for a new character I'm working on, and I've painted myself into a corner. The name I wanted to use physically doesn't work and I'm at a loss as to what name to replace it with. The character in question is one I've banded about many times already:
Her story is complex (and not entirely final), but the gist of it is that she's an immortal shapeshifter who seduces people, feeds on their emotions and eventually on their life essence. In her human form, she's "married" to her ancient co-conspirator and plays the role of mistress of the estate and matriarch. In her monster form, she eats people. Sometimes literally.
Originally, I had planned to use the name of Carmilla. However, this being a fairly famous book and character, AND one very heavily related to vampires, I thought this was not a good idea. The name I wanted to use was:
Elizabeth Worthington
The problem with this name is that it's 1 symbol too long, and I can shorten neither of the two names without bastardising them. I cannot avoid using the last name of Worthington, as her "husband" - Sir William Worthington - is an established character whose name is not subject to change. [white space]Worthington is 12 symbols long, which limits me to a first name no longer than 8 symbols, and Elizabeth, unfortunately, is 9 symbols long - one too many.
And with those two out of the way, I am completely out of ideas. I need to give this woman an assumed, fake identity with a name that sounds distinctly British and fairly aristocratic, but my vocabulary of such names is sadly lacking. I need a name which sounds Dignified when used with the title "Lady" ahead of it, as well as one which isn't weird, shortened or made-up (an easy test for this is if your spell check recognises it). And, of course, it needs to sound good with the family name of Worthington at the tail end of it.
Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
I was brainstorming names for Victorian/Edwardian lady myself....and even though some are too long, I will share my short list.
Lady Victoriana
Lady Agatha
Lady Araminta
Lady Emmeline
Lady Jessamine
Lady Violetta (Violet)
Lady Edwina
For a guy..I know you did not ask for a male name, but I was, and am on a roll...
Lord Edward
Lord Cornelius
Lord Harrison
Lord Granville
Lord Emerson
Lord Artemus
Lisa.
and of course, Horatio.
And I am very late to the party...oh wellI am glad you found a name
-
Ultrawatt.
Thank you so much for the helpful info..you don't know how much I appreciate it.
So, I need to rework my thinking as to my build...I need to find Defense bonuses, take weave, and go with Soul.
I really don't want Kin combats as they are so bloody expensive, but I guess they are expensive for a reason.
Is there anyway I can avoid the Kinetic Combats, work toward somesort of defense, keep my endurance, recharge and acc happy and still not gimp myself? I have no problems against Malta and Crey with what I have now.
I think, I think, I need to go to work and come back with a fresh mind
Lisa-Trying not to be overwhelmed. -
Quote:Speaking for myself, yes, due to a lack of good hand-eye coordination, I do indeed crash into walls. My hubby's main is a Mind/Kin and he takes great pleasure in Speed Boosting me me when we play together. I can hear his laugh at my expense all the way into my computer caveJust kind of question here: How does SB make people "almost non-functional" ? I get that you are moving quicker.. but are they unable to maneuver them self out of the way of obstacles?
Or do they experience lag because of it o.O
^^

Quote:Because the Incarnate system continues to be team focused - if a large section of the player base was soloing, the devs would have designed the system with soloers in mind - or, if they suddenly discovered that a large section of the player base was still soloing after they launched the Incarnate system, they mightn't be continuing to roll out Trials and add new rewards linked to the Trials.
With all the data the devs had available to them from over 6 years of live server play by thousands and thousands of different players, they designed the Incarnate system to be team focused.
Hmmm.....I think they would still continue to roll it out as they put in a large chunk of time and money into it.
I hope you are right Golden Girl and it is not a case of marketing declaring that the new end content has to be team oriented because that is what sells in other games.
And a lack of a solo path ensures that players wanting an endgame will have to team or not experience it.
Yes people are playing it. It is new, a novelty...so was Praetoria and that place is empty when I play there now.
I can't help but think though, how healthy will the game be if this "tiny Minority" got fed up and left. I know several people who have done just that.
This game is fed by both soloers and teamers which might be how this game has lasted so long.
I hope this fact is acknowledged by Marketing and the "Powers That Be" in this game.

Quote:The Devs have loads of stats...you don't, unless you are the friend of a Dev, a daughter of a Dev, or even are a Dev yourself. The devs have loads of stats from their datamining - and the Incarnate Traisl continue to be rolled out, along with special rewards attached to them - I think that that should perhaps tell you something
The Incarnate stuff is indeed being rolled out. They spent man hours and lots of money developing it, yes they are going to bring it forth. It tells me that they don't want all that work to go to waste.
Darn, but this thread is an angry one. It has me spitting at Golden Girl....and I enjoy her posts.
Golden Girl I apologize for my tone, but I am curious as to how you are so darn confident that we are tiny.
