  1. Still kind of hoping we won't have to pay rent on these bases, I'd rather spend my influence on Icon or helping out my SG mates instead of worrying about an eviction notice put on the base.
  2. Or you can just ignore what's said and go with your own thing.
  3. Oh I don't think they're saying that specifically. I think they're saying more along the lines of people who work for MAGI etc. are the descendants of what we've been discussing. But the story I believe is still intended to be flexible enough that you can have your own dang histories, origins, family trees etc. Without having to be a descendant of something.
  4. Paragon City Police Force

    Leader: Officer Celara

Currently recruiting, can contact any Paragon City Police Force member.

    Website forums: http://pcpf.proboards36.com/index.cgi

Preffered contact: In-Game e-mail or Tells

Description: Heavy RP supergroup which no longer requires you to arrest hero characters if the need arises. If you join up you can decide if you would rather just want to do missions or do RP events that are hosted internally that the public isn't aware of. If you would like to handle any investigations with other heroes you will have to be trained in a few courses to make sure you don't "god" mode over other heroes. Only main requirement is that you can RP with the rest and tolerate it.
  5. Well the reason I recall for him not wanting jetpacks is because he doesn't want it to become City of Jetpacks. It's clear that the technology and models are there to use jetpacks hence the ones in the arena, except for a few cape clipping issues they can put in those skyraider jetpacks any time they want.

Jetpacks are currently not "wanted" at the moment.
  6. By the way, though I'm sad to see vehicles not make it for quite a while, I am very relieved to have finally gotten those burning questions out of the closet.
  7. Ah! Well that explains everything, happy late birthday Jack!
  8. Even if you found something higher than a footstool you're only going to lose 99% of your health.

You know....more and more people have stated that Statesman is in a bad mood or "pissy" mood when they talk to him at these conventions. I've met Statesman and I would bet even when he's in a good mood, you wouldn't describe him as charming. I am assuming that Statesman is there to represent the game, answer questions, and act in a public relations fashion.

Is the attitude he gives off good public relations (and this is not an isolated incident)? Look, I'm sure the guy gets asked the same questions over and over and over and over, etc. - but hey, that's what these conventions are all about - promoting the game. To be honest, it would probably be better if he not showed up at all, then to consistently be in a pissy mood and treat fans with contempt or disrespect. Hell, hire some PR people to represent the game, to answer questions, hand out prizes, etc.

This is not a direct criticism on Statesman....hell, I would HATE having to go to these conventions all the time and answering the same dumb questions over and over...or being hounded about nerfs to this and that. But that's what is going to happen if he works these shows, so either put on Mr. Smiley face and work the PR or don't go to these things.

And to be honest, he never "really" answers a friggin' question anyway! So, really, what the hell is he doing at these things?? It's fairly obvious he HATES doing them and answering the same questions over and over....are people really going out and buying COH after a charming conversation with Statesman?? LOL My guess is no. He also is always tight lipped about new happenings in the game - so he isn't much of a PR/Salesman AND he doesn't answer a great majority of the questions people want answers for, so what's the point? LOL

    Just one guy's observation.......

Actually when I met Statesman for the first time at last years Wizard's convention he was enthusiastic and extremely energetic about City of Heroes, talking about all the cool things we could expect come Issue 1. This was back when the game was less popular, when I showed up this year there were tons of people checking out the booth.

Anyway Statesman is actually a very cool and energetic guy, I really think I just caught him on a bad day.
  10. Jetpacks as in like Prestige Power Slide, you can now use a jetpack while flying instead of the generic regular fly.

So not necessarily temp power but rather permanent power, I did not ask for it as a costume element.
  11. Of COH and COV of course. This was Sunday at the Wizard World Convention and I had pre prepped a few questions to ask him as I went there.

Unfortunately, I seemed to have caught him in a very pissy mood as he wasn't as much enthusiastic as he was last year. I was originally going to post this on Sunday the day I got back from Wizard World but my internet went down so I'm posting it now.

Question 1: Customizable Weapons - Possibly after COV

Question 2: Vehicles - Separate Expansion as in no Issue 5-10

Question 3: COV or COH having weather patterns like snow, rain, etc. - NO

Question 4: *Idea I thought of* Doubling up AT's so that you can have a MA scrapper with a few Katana powers or a Fire blaster with a few Ice powers, hence doubling up into dual powersets. It's an idea they hadn't thought up of so whether they will think about it remains to be seen.

Question 5: Sound Effects like voices or monologues - No due to localization issues when games go to Germany, Korea, etc.

Question 6: Possible AT to turn into a supernatural being I.E. Hulk, Werewolf, etc. - No, at least until certain powersets are fixed or added.

Question 7: Missions sort of like in Spider-man 2 where you rescue people off of buildings? - Yes in that there will be more dynamic missions, maybe not exactly as described but at least more diverse.

Question 8: Destroyable buildings? - Instanced Missions so Yes!

Question 9: Jetpacks made available in general for everyday use? - (Please stop asking him this question as he rolled his eyes when I asked that) NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question 10: What cool things can we expect from skills? - Not designed yet, having a lot of trouble making skills fun. (Recommend getting suggestions from the fans.)

Question 11: A chance to enter a hero hall of fame? - Yes, not soon but someday.

Question 12: Website feature to finally be incorporated into the game? -Not anytime in the near future.

Question 13: (Asked this one by accident) Plans to shrink down task forces and make cooler ones like Ernesto Hess? - Yes

So there you have it folks! My own personal conclusion from all this?

    - Issue 5 will be our last big patch before COV

    - COV is the main entree for the day and a lot of design is being focused on COV at the moment.

    - More focus on adding other powersets like the much vaunted Scrapper street fighting etc.

    - A lot of focus on tweaking things so they are a bit more balanced.

    - Expect to see the cool features AFTER COV is released.

Chew on that and enjoy! (P.S. Sorry States if you were having a bad day or something, thanks for answering my questions though.)
  12. We're gonna miss ya! I was there at one of the huge SG battles, it was fun being in your SG!
  13. Share your coolest screenshot time, I think this picture symbolizes just how cool I think the game is, and how happy I am to be playing it.

    Rise of the Phoenix

P.S. those aren't my characters but I think they'll be happy to be in the lime light heh heh.
  14. The devs never said that PVP and PVE changes would be exclusive. Statesman said that AS A LAST RESORT they would consider making PVP or PVE changes exclusive if they deem it necessary.

He said that he does not believe a power should act differently in PVP than it does in PVE. It's like having a controller hold power in PVE suddenly be turned into a controller confuse power for PVP. Though that's a radical change, that's the basic foundation for where I think his philosophy stems from.

Currently right now until testing is done none of these changes are going to be PVP or PVE exclusive, you need to test it out so that they could DATA mine the information in order to continue making more changes.
  15. Well let's say your an energy blaster with devices.

Devices easy to explain but energy? That's a tricky one.

Perhaps the energy released from the palm of your hands comes from years and years of teaching yourself the ways of a certain type of Tao and you have now focused you chi enough that you can summon your inner abilities without even a second thought.

This means you're not magic because you are not using scrolls or anything like that, you are simply tapping into the power of your inner will like Statesman did. Unlocking the power of your inner will allows you to do fantastic things that all normal men and women can do if they unlock it.
  16. (Not a good idea to post in general discussion really, best to keep your marriage events in Virtue threads unless you want to invite griefers as well.)
  17. Wow... and to think that Officer Celara caught BOTH of those conversations while going to the tram in Steel. Ah that really brings back some great memories, very excellent work on the dialogue.
  18. After several days of investigation it turns out that Portal Corps has decided NOT to press charges against Shae Firewarder. Most of the witnesses who had seen what happened insisted that Shae was most likely protecting the good doctor from a terrible, terrible fate.

Though Dr. Raul Contrerez has enough political pull to keep the case going for an extended period of time, even enough to delay the bail hearing. Speculation is that when this is all over he will not have any favors left in keeping the case alive.
  19. It was another quiet day at the office, with the upcoming construction of the arena the Police Force has been busy dealing excessive patrols throughout the city. Scorching Spike and Officer Celara while teamed with Dr. November, Arctic Eagle, and Azureflame decided to call it a day as far as patrols was concerned.

The team disbanded as both officers returned to Headquarters to fill out the necessary paperwork for the missions that have just transpired. However, as Celara approached headquarters with Scorching Spike taking care of things elsewhere. She noticed Shae Firewarder hanging around the roof of the Paragon City Police Force building in Galaxy City on the south east corner.

She flew by and said, "Hello Shae" thinking that Shae was only just visiting or loitering around the property. However, Shae did something unexpected and followed Celara into her office. Celara looked at her and said, "Oh I'm sorry Shae, I though you were just hanging around, did you need something?" Shae says, "Heh, yeah well... I'm turning myself in."

Celara said, "Okay... *followed by* WHAT!? You're doing what now?"

Boy oh boy it seems like everyone is out getting arrested nowadays! First Maggie kills a hellion and now Shae is turning herself in! After a bit of lengthy discussion Celara took Shae in and of course, placed her under arrest until her lawyer could arrive at the FC building in Galaxy City. There was much heavy discussion but not enough information to really know what was going on fully.

Shae is currently residing in the FC building awaiting for the arrival of her lawyer who will hopefully help Shae get out of this interesting dilemma.
  20. How could you head into the arena when it's not even built yet?

Oh well that's besides the point, you really need to avoid those types of roleplayers as god moding will be the flavor of the day whenever some battle occurs with strangers.
  21. Despite it taking a mandatory couple of years before artwork by Alex Ross could be done, it would be really great to see one issue of COH done by Alex Ross, that would be awesome indeed.
  22. I remember me posting a thread like this FIRST thief!

    My nostalgia thread!
  23. MasterTheHero

    The Kudos Thread

I think I've participated in 95% of these kudos threads, normally I post AFTER Statesman already beats me to it. But once again, great job devs! So far Cryptic been keeping your promises and have displayed excellent responses to the community. You do what you don't have to do and I for one definitely appreciate you all the more better, even the devs who work behind the scenes and don't post often or at all.

    Great job guys!
  24. I've found that sometimes the CTRL key is the bane of my existence! Here I am trying to use my tray and instead the ctrl key switches it to tray 9 which has absolutely no powers in them.

I'm all for this change, it can definitely save a few headaches later down the road.

Oh yes, and the numbers by the team name is a very good idea.
  25. I'll just repeat what some folks have already said:

1.) More ranks that can be customized.

2.) Ability to promote and demote people even when they are OFFLINE

3.) Ability to make ALTS for people's characters under one account name. So if I have Joe X and Joe C instead of them taking their own slots I want them to only have one slot representing that it's me.

4.) Place to store influence so that people can make donations to the SG bank in order to buy the base with COV.

5.) When COV comes out, I would like a garage for player vehicles but that's a different topic.

6.) Increase the length of the MOTD by a few characters as I find myself running out of room too often.

7.) Allow the ability to make a category like say "Rookies" levels 1-14, "Greens" 14-25, "Veterans" 26-35", "Elites" 36-45, "Legends" 45-50. By doing this it could promote SG mates to strive for that higher rank in an SG. Or however it goes, and puts them in their own special category divided by a little graphical border.

That's all I can think of for now.
