Right. The pet still shows the +4x healing above it's head, but none if it at all counts now.

Like I said, they only affect the owner. They will not buff your team. They don't even affect a MasterMind's other pets. On a team of 8, each running a Vet Pet, you'd all still have a single buff.

I don't even think the Vet Pets benefit from their own buff, let alone from each other. The power icon you see in the Pet menu just shows their aura is active, not that they are getting a benefit from it.

I thought you could only have ONE of these pets, and they only affect the owner. Therefore they would not stack in any way whatsoever.

May I suggest stating in the post that the SF is being run for xp? That way folks know that it is going to take 1.5 to 2 hours and can decide whether to join or not.
Not all TFs we run are necessarily for XP. Yes, the original point of our groups was to start new LowB characters and use the TFs each week to level up.. and we've done that a few times now, but the main thing is having a large group get together for a single event each week.

Using TFs and Ouroboros Arcs give us a starting point and an ending point for each event. We usually try to get done around midnight, which means we'll probably speed though the longer stories, and we might sandbag the quicker ones by defeating everything we see. Last night just happened to be one of the quicker TFs in the game, and Villainside being a bit lacking in TFs, we could use a few extra XP here and there.

In the end, it's really up to each team and it's leader to decide how long they are going to stay online and how they will run each mission. If it's been a long day, or the size of a mission is just plan obnoxious, speeding through to objectives is certainly not out of the question.

If we fall short of a few XP, it's not a big deal. We're usually aware of what the next week's event is going to be, and if we don't meet the level requirements for it, we have the whole week to catch up the extra level or two in our own way. With the number of people we've met through these events, getting a team together to do almost any task in the game is not usually a problem. Most people are friendly and willing to help out when it's needed.

The game (to us) isn't about how much reward we are getting within a certain amount of time, it's about being together to form a community. Some people don't even make new characters each time we start a new schedule. They come to hang out, help out, and maybe get a badge they are missing along the way too. I for one am proud to be one of the first people to fully support Luna's idea in early 2008 by saying I'd attend every week, and even level-pact with her to show my commitment. The first event had a single team, but I think every week after that has been at least two teams, the most recent ones being 3 and 4 teams steadily. We just keep growing.

    In short (TLDR):
We wont say "this is for XP", because that's not necessarily the case either. Many people bring lvl 50s to our event regularly too.

We're not asking anybody to join an SG or dress a certain way. We're just asking people to hang out, be respectful to each other, and have some fun. As a permanent team leader, I've met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun, and I look forward to more each week.

Yes, but Lothic's link goes further down the page to the "Villain Badge missions" section that spells it all out. The previous link just goes to the list of arcs available, which isn't quite as obvious to people who don't scroll down the page. lol.

I haven't tested the simple one I wrote above because I don't currently have any characters with both Hover and Teleport -- and I don't have access to the game right now.
Shift can easily be substituted with Alt or Control instead. It's all a matter of preference.

The bind you listed above should work just fine. I just tested it and the first press of the key activates the flight power and gives a teleport target. Each subsequent press of the key gives another teleport target without interrupting flight.

Then look at another badge category. As mentioned, "Recent Badges" does not work correctly while viewing Supergroup badges. You can flip back and forth all day and it's not going to get any better. It has unfortunately been that way since the feature launched.

If you are looking at your Personal Badges (you are looking at your own when it has a "Supergroup Badges" button at the bottom) and/or another category instead, does it show you correct information?

    Badge Bug

What this picture is showing is your Supergoup badges. It's still a bug, but not the way you think.

Unfortunately, the "Recent Badges" does not work for Supergroups, so instead, you are seeing the names of the badges in your Personal "Closest to Completion" category combined with the images from your Personal "Recent badges".

To fix it.. simply press "Personal Badges" at the bottom of that window.
  10. Reaching lvl 20 on Heroside will unlock the Hero Epic Archetypes.
Reaching lvl 20 on Villainside will unlock the Villain Epic Archetypes.
Reaching lvl 20 in Praetoria will unlock Praetorian Epic Archetypes... except those don't exist (yet?). lol

    LSHIFT "+down$$powexectoggleon Hover$$powexecname Teleport$$camdist 200$$bindloadfilesilent tp_on1.txt"

    tp_on2
    Code:
    LSHIFT+LBUTTON "-down$$powexecname Teleport$$bindloadfilesilent tp_on1.txt"
I see a few quick things "wrong" with the code.

First, I don't see why you used +down in those. The same effect can be done by simply using "+$$" in front of every line instead like you displayed in your previous post. Then there is also no need for -down. The only reason you needed it before was because it was canceling the +down you had in there. The down command is moving your character downward a little every time you click the button. Putting "+$$" in front of each line will still run the commands on keyrelease as designed. It's not a big deal, I know, but figured I could clean it up a little for you.

Second, LSHIFT+ is not really a valid chord. Any L and R designations are instantly removed as soon as they are loaded. They can only be bound separately when binding something to that key alone. Your chorded bind is able to be activated by pressing RSHIFT as well, so the "clean" code would be simply written as SHIFT+LBUTTON instead.

Again, it's just minor changes, but it's a little more cleaned up and shouldn't ever move your character because it doesn't use any movement commands. Overall the code works great. Nice job!

For people who are not good with setting up bind files, you can use the following instead:
    Code:
    LSHIFT "+$$powexecname Hover"
    SHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name teleport"
The difference here is that Hover must be already off when you begin teleporting, and you wont get a target location icon (some people like that for some reason). Other that that, the overall function is the same (hover toggles on and off when held down, and you teleport every time you click). You'd need the bind file method for the camera distance adjustment though. That's pretty cool.

On a side note, a cool side-effect to both these bind methods is that you can hold LSHIFT to toggle hover on real quick (or whatever flight power you choose to do this with) for whatever reason during gameplay so you don't have to manually click it on and off when needed... and if you do it right, you can double-tap it to toggle on and off, rather than having to hold it down.

You can also use it in-game as a slash command, but I don't really recommend it anymore. Many people have reported that if you leave it for too long, it seems to disconnect that instance, and it's not from being "afk". It acts like you disconnected from the internet sometimes.

I'd stick with the -maxinactivedisplay 5. That works fine for me, but i do have to turn the settings down a little bit to be ale to run 3 or 4 instances at the same time. 2 seem work just fine for me though. lol

  14. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before somewhere else or how long it hasb een this way, but I recently came across a "nerf" of sorts while doing a healing farm last week. Usually I log in several accounts to create more targets for the Wardens to heal so progress moves much faster. I've found that this no longer works very well. The Wardens' aura is now limited to only 16 targets, which means when I logged in 2 more accounts with 13 gladiators each, they were mostly useless. We already had 14 gladiators between me and the other guy I was helping.

Well, at least the method still works, in general.

That's a very interesting concept, and you may be right. An Account expiring on the 31st and buying a "one month" subscription would be active until the 31st of the following month... but since that day would not exist (unless it expired in July or December), it may truncate to the last day of that month.

Did you miss the part right after what you quoted where I said... I agree with you that CoH does not have a memory leak? I know what a memory leak is. I was simply saying that even though it's not a real memory leak, it's still accepted to refer to that extra memory usage as such.

You may not agree with that, but that's not the point of this thread... and if you really want to get strict about it, your own definition is slightly wrong. You are describing the exact scenario CoH is in. It allocates memory but never frees it.. so much to the point of crashing itself. The difference here is that CoH doesn't ever try to free it. A real memory leak is when the program loses the address of the memory for whatever reason and then CAN'T free the memory, causing what you later described as the operating system itself running out of resources... but as I said before, there are other acceptable usages of the term that you are neglecting.

To get back on track... To the OP:
I suggest making sure one full instance is fully loaded and even logged in before loading the second one. This may prevent some of the corruption you are seeing. Also make sure you don't close an instance while another one is still loading. I've run into problems while doing that a well. If you are regularly pushing the memory limits, it might help to reload a client every couple hours, just to keep the levels low. I even start to hit the limits on a single instance while running various standard content for several hours.

You could "verify files" to ensure your CoH directory is in order, but I suspect the files are fine and the error is happening when the information is in the memory... but it never hurts to do it anyway. It might be beneficial to run other system utilities like a virus scan, wiping temporary and unused files and programs, then defragging.

The other standard response is to ask for CoH_Helper and HiJackThis reports if it's still happening regularly.

Either way, I agree with you. People have complained about CoH having a memory leak for a long time. I've never found that to be true, but I know it's memory-hungry instead. It's a pack rat of information it doesn't really need. Chat logs, badge and contact info, information about people on your teams or around you...

It's entirely possible that the mission information in AE just collects and collects until it has a fit. Then again.. I don't see why 2 instances (in this case) would have anything to do with that behavior.

I second this. I don't often run multiple instances, but this recent free-activation weekend I ran 4 at once for a heal farm without much issue.

I don't really use AE either other than running an occasional random arc, so I don't know how that would react either. Seems kinda weird.

If you ever had free time added to your account for referring people, it will offset the date. For example, I created my account on the 13th, but my billing date is now the 8th because of various 14/15 day free time I've been awarded over the years. Adding retail packages may also change the day of the month depending on how it's worded.

    Remember:
"one month" is not always the same as "30 days".
A monthly payment from the 10th will let you play until the 10th of next month, regardless how many days go by...
but if a retail package (or time card) gives you 30 days, and you use it in a month with 31 days, you'll only be playable until the 9th of the next month.

You are correct in your general statement that the game does not read underscores and spaces the same, but it depends where you are using them.

For example, using powexecname is the same as powexec_name, not powexec name... but in the case of names of powers and inspirations, you can use either underscores or spaces in the name.

You can't omit the spaces. For power names, you can also use underscores in place of the spaces if it makes it easier for you, but the spaces should work too anyway (when quoted correctly where necessary).

    For example...
    /bind KEY "powexecname Quick_Strike"
    and
    /bind KEY "powexecname Quick Strike"
    ..should both work.

    Ultra Mode Help?

OMG it's MISHII! It's been a while. How are ya!?

Anyway, as for your question.. I think you might have trouble finding a laptop that can run Ultra mode at MAX for under $1500. There aren't many computers in general that can handle everything it has to offer without at least some loss of framerate... at least not at the higher resolutions most people want to view them on anyway.

But I'm sure you can find one that can run it reasonably well with most of the options turned on anyway. Unfortunately I don't have any advice in this department. I might be looking for a new laptop soon too, but I haven't even started looking yet. I might end up referring back to this thread to make my own decision later. lol

You might also find some suggestions by browsing the rest of the Tech forum. Questions like this come up all the time.

    Good luck, and Welcome Back?
