try making a shortcut to CohUpdater.exe and add -fullscreen 1 to the shortcut.

Just right click on the shortcut you use to launch the game and "-fullscreen 1" to the target line so it reads

CohUpdater.exe -fullscreen 1

I made a shortcut on the desktop awhile ago so i went to properties and under the shortcut tab i made it run as a maximized window (i couldn't find fullscreen) and all it did was make the updator maximized did i do it right?

What did you add to the target line?

I had to pull the command from Paragonwiki, I had assumed you would have to make a shortcut to the game client itself. Lets double check the Updater and if you keep getting locked out we can try making a shortcut to the client and adding the full screen command.

Right Click on the shortcut you use to launch the game. near the top of the window that pops up you should see Target followed by an editable box. In the box will say something like

C:\Coh\Cohupdater.exe

we want that line to say something like

C:\Coh\Cohupdater.exe -fullscreen 1

Hey Look a Picture

says "the name c:\users\.....\city of heroes\cohupdator.exe -fullscreen 1 specified in the target box is not valid make sure the path and the file name are correct

you're showing cohupdatOr.exe

when it should be cohupdatEr.exe

can you double check there isn't a simple typo in the target line

I'm gonna copy and paste from my target line,

C:\COH\cohupdater.exe -fullscreen 1

this launches the game for me can you add -fullscreen 1 back to your target line and then copy and paste what is says on the target line for me? I'm thinking there is a typo, or maybe its a Win7 thing. Changing the target line on my Win7 machine makes windows ask if I want Coh to make changes on my computer.

"C:\Users\*says my name here*\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe -fullscreen 1"

Im gonna make some assumptions and you tell me what isn't true.

You're running Windows 7.

You share this computer with your parents.

You parents have set up your account to have very few permissions.

I may be talking out of the side of my neck here, but if you log in as your parents, find the cohupdater.exe shortcut, make the same changes to the target line, you'll be able to run the game. Getting the game to load from that computer, no matter what users you're logged in as should fix your problem.
