Hey Everyone, THIS IS TONIGHT!

I am so sorry for being such a slacker in getting it listed. I hope everyone can make it.

I'll get the team lists to MB and Myrdinn later today once I see if we're going to have any more sign ups.

I'll need 1 person on each team who is level 25 or higher (villain or Rogue) to act as a starter. I know of at least 2 people who are, but I can use a 3rd. If you fit this criteria, let me know.

Thanks!

I didn't mean to bring the +5 Quants. I need to play more though, felt off.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

This is an enjoy-the-ride game. "50" is only a number, not the goal of the game. - Noxilicious

My team did about the same time, 8 people. Leader was a warshade. 3 death challenge failed at the last mission so prolly around 5-6 deaths since I wasn't tracking it closely.
The other team was about 1 hr, 48 mins.
Also, I was not aware that this was being run for xp. IMHO, it is better to run fast papers for xp. (I'm excluding AE. Why sub for a game to play purposely gimped enemies?)
SFs tend to have more difficult enemies but don't award as much. I did this on Sat. and Sun. for 1 hr. In the same amount of time, the teams could finish Silver Mantis and run 1 or 2 papers for xp.
May I suggest stating in the post that the SF is being run for xp? That way folks know that it is going to take 1.5 to 2 hours and can decide whether to join or not.

We've been running weekly TF's for the sole purpose of leveling toons and enjoying each other company for the past 18 months. I will continue to set it up and run it the way I see fit. We had FOUR teams running last night. I think I might be doing something okay to get that kind of turn out each week.

Thank you to everyone that joined last night and had a good time. We had 4 mostly full teams running. We had a couple of DC's on the teams that left us a little short of full teams.

My team was:

1. Soothesayer Talona: Mind/Thorns Dom
2. Bleakest Death: Necro/Dark MM
3. Muneyoshi Kenju: NB/Ninjitsu Stalker
4. Torrtuga: Fire/WP Brute
5. Motorpsycho Nitemare: Psi/MM Blaster
6. Super Love: SS/Invuln Brute

We also had Double Shot and Watch Dawg on my team, but their power went out, and they were not able to rejoin us for the TF.

We finished in 1:34:23 with 15 deaths.

Next week's event will be the first Villain Respec followed by an AE arc for anyone who wants to stick around (Since the respec is so short). I'm not sure what AE arc we'll be running. If the individual teams want to run arcs of their choosing, that is fine with me. I'll pick something out for my team, but if the other leaders want to pick something else, that's fine =)

I'll *try* to get the sign up sheet up tomorrow. Life is just a little too full for me lately to keep up with it all.

Thanks again for joining. See you next week!

I run these for two things anymore. One is the badges, I have enough 50's that XP has no meaning to me anymore and those that are lower level will get there when they get there. The other is because I want to hang out with my friends. So, if it takes a little longer and we have enough deaths to make the J-Force say "Good job", then that's fine with me. In fact, anymore, Luna and the crew are about the only reason I still play.

Not all TFs we run are necessarily for XP. Yes, the original point of our groups was to start new LowB characters and use the TFs each week to level up.. and we've done that a few times now, but the main thing is having a large group get together for a single event each week.

Using TFs and Ouroboros Arcs give us a starting point and an ending point for each event. We usually try to get done around midnight, which means we'll probably speed though the longer stories, and we might sandbag the quicker ones by defeating everything we see. Last night just happened to be one of the quicker TFs in the game, and Villainside being a bit lacking in TFs, we could use a few extra XP here and there.

In the end, it's really up to each team and it's leader to decide how long they are going to stay online and how they will run each mission. If it's been a long day, or the size of a mission is just plan obnoxious, speeding through to objectives is certainly not out of the question.

If we fall short of a few XP, it's not a big deal. We're usually aware of what the next week's event is going to be, and if we don't meet the level requirements for it, we have the whole week to catch up the extra level or two in our own way. With the number of people we've met through these events, getting a team together to do almost any task in the game is not usually a problem. Most people are friendly and willing to help out when it's needed.

The game (to us) isn't about how much reward we are getting within a certain amount of time, it's about being together to form a community. Some people don't even make new characters each time we start a new schedule. They come to hang out, help out, and maybe get a badge they are missing along the way too. I for one am proud to be one of the first people to fully support Luna's idea in early 2008 by saying I'd attend every week, and even level-pact with her to show my commitment. The first event had a single team, but I think every week after that has been at least two teams, the most recent ones being 3 and 4 teams steadily. We just keep growing.

In short (TLDR):
We wont say "this is for XP", because that's not necessarily the case either. Many people bring lvl 50s to our event regularly too.

We're not asking anybody to join an SG or dress a certain way. We're just asking people to hang out, be respectful to each other, and have some fun. As a permanent team leader, I've met a lot of great people and had a lot of fun, and I look forward to more each week.

Luna is my HERO!

It's all been said.

I don't play a game starting at 10PM and get up at 430am because I have too, I do it because I like the folks from a gaming and personal perspective. And I truely appreciate everyone that takes the time to set these events in motion. I probably wouldn't play anymore if it weren’t for some of you guys.

I was on MB's team last night. There was Freedom Horde fun as always, and at times it was... exciting.

It took us a while to organize a plan in the final mission. In the end, we just fought our way up the base, and fought the AV in the ocean. It was still fun regardless, especially since in all my years playing this game, this is only the second time I've been in this particular SF (first time was with Mr. E, with my actual villain a long time ago)... so the SF still felt fresh for me. (I rarely focused on villain-side)

Thanks again for the event. Looking forward to next week. Villain Respec was it? I'll probably be joining that one too.

In that case, next time I join, I'll offer to lead the crack team, ie, 50s who don't need xp, or anyone who wants the badge quickly. The goal will be to finish it under 1 hr or less.
After the Silver M, if there's enough interest, we'll bang out Renault and/or Tarikoss as well. That should give us 66+ merits in 2 hrs.

Probably won't be another Silver Mantis for another year or so for the Freedom Horde, but you're welcome to start up your own Monday night events for merit-aholics.

It doesn't have to be Monday. I can run it anytime I'm on, which is 7 - midnite pacific time on weekdays and after 10 am on weekends. For the folks that missed Monday's run and need the badge, send me a forum PM with your online times and I'll schedule a run for you.

This, basically. And there's nothing preventing you from advertising the Mantis run on Freedom TF Chat either - so long as it doesn't conflict with the scheduled runs, you'll prolly find people who're more than willing to run this up. Ask Luna or E to add your run to the global channel MOTD if you opt for that route. I'd run this SF again, no sweat.
