I'm surprised there hasnt been an sg created for characters built primarily for pvp to go out and splat all the wee plonkers.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm already in a VG/SG but would love to form (or join) a Squad devoted to belittling these ganking bullies.

E.G One of the Squad is in a PvP zone & they see a team of 8 farming some poor sole to the ends of the zone (hosp), the squad member switches on their Anti-gankers channel, see who's about, form a team and we move in and absolutely obliterate the fools!

I've got heroes or villains for this squad...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And become one of them yourself...

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's a valid point, but flawed.

Intentionally, the squad would not be the ones bullying 8-on-1 repeatedly and pretty much forcing that player to log in the hospital, thus putting someone off the zone.

My point is, I guess, is somewhat more vigilante, I don't like to see ganking up on someone, especially in a case like the above. The idea is to help the person in need, give the bullies a taste of their own, and moreso, it leaps into an instant PvP event, all parties get what they want.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Something i've noticed in online gaming, mostly MUD's, Is that there is often 1 or 2 powerfull/skilled players who go around righting wrongs (or at least what they percieve as wrong). I've certainly hunted down MUDers before and kept them held down and hurt because they were picking on lowbies. So having a pvp kill squad prolly wouldnt be such an unusual thing anyway.

Still it doesn't change the fact that the thing you find annoying and perhaps little abusive I think is fun and not too nasty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats where the problem is. A few days back we (my defender and a scrapper) ran into a single stalker who was particularly nasty. He started posting rude comments:

that the scrapper had to rely on his "healer boyfriend"
    how we are both "ghay"
how all heroes "want to bum statesman",

and other one liners which could have come from the pen of shakespeare. I quickly decided I'd had enough and broadcast "thank you. consider yourself petitioned.". He began sending me tells asking for an explanation, so i told him I didnt enjoy being insulted or having my sexuallity brought into question, and that there are rules in place which mean I dont have to put up with it. He started going on about how it didnt mean anything and how to him this was just fun. I reitirated my point of view, he came back with a half arsed argument about how he gets abuse all the time cos he plays a stalker.
The conversation pretty much died there and although he left me alone over broadcast, he simply moved on to other players and began regular broadcasts complaining about abuse against the stalker AT (despite the fact no one had brought the issue of stalkers up) and how me and the scrapper ganked him, encouraging other players to attack us (even though he had attacked us and we simply responded)
Anyway, the point is, calling people "ghay" and generally being a moron is what this guy done for fun. He didnt seem to percieve anything wrong with his behaviour, yet I believe the vast majority of people would, including the people who police the game.
  3. My stalker had problems with artic air, but then, he is low leveled. Ganking doesnt bother me so much, it just the term people on the wrong end of the equation use for team work. I'm more bothered about the wee plonkers who sit in there base, declare themselves the uber playerkiller and shout abuse at people. Actually, they dont even have to sit in there base, its just the ones who go on about everyone being [censored] all the time.

Paragon Defenders is probably the only PvP-based supergroup on Defiant. We're all levelling new toons at the moment though, so we haven't been in Sirens much.

Also, being in a zone with 10 stalkers and nothing else is boring.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I dunno, I like killing stalkers

    [/ QUOTE ]
But it's so insanely boring to patrol the zone, looking for them.

Oi! Then you see them for a second or two, and then they fade away. Rinse, repeat.

    Zzzzz.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Got a point there. I always forget that many players cant see them as easily as some of my characters. I can see a time where everyone takes invis and we all wander about with our heads up our bums (except ninja stalkers and, i think, SR scrappers).
I meant to post this a while back, but maybe it'd be good if you got a perception bonus based on height, like sitting in the crows nest of a pirate ship. Least then the flyers can get some height and get a players general location.
  5. [ QUOTE ]

I was just encouraging people to play as they feel is fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some peoples idea of fun seems to be to upset other people in any way they can. Ironicly, I tryed some online poker for a change and got the same brand of morons there.

  8. I believe you should stick to tactics that work and are fun for you, even if other players see them as "dirty". I think gloating is a bit over the top unless done in a friendly manner "ha! got you at last! nasty villain :P".

    Running for home

I dislike loosing too much. If your resting in the middle of sirens after a kicking you can expect someone to skelp you.
  10. If you manage to get a good team on a good night, in sirens you can get a bit of a head start with SO's, so its worth popping in and sticking around for 10 minutes or so once you hit 20. Good news is you can always go back to the bay later on for some satisfying practice
  11. might not bother with cloaking device then. Does anyone have any info on what distance the various concealment powers grant invisibility up to?
  12. What level are you? If you are fighting higher level villains, they may have a lot of defence slotted.
Which villains can see you? Some stalkers get a power which lets them see players with invis from the concealment pool. I dont know if it lets you see through ill's invis but it may be.
BTW. my stormie is lvl 21 and has some powers slotted with SO's thanks to the bounty system in sirens call. Still misses a lot with some powers.
I'd stick with for a while, and maybe post your build on the controller forum asking for some help.
  13. Got my 1st blaster to lvl 9 today and i have a few questions.

How does cloaking device work? is it better/worse/same as invis from the pool powers?

How do trip mines work? Can you stack a few of them? presumably you cant leave infinite amounts lying around forever.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Snowstorm is not remotely a problem for me, lingering rad however is much more so.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*Trandles off to delete his stormie to make room for a rad defender*
  15. Got docbot to lvl 31 so hopefully i've learned something i can pass on. Speedboost aids end recovery and recharge, you might want to think about slotting end recovery, not sure i'd bother with speed though. Kin is a good team set, good strong heal, good debuffs, no need for a travel power (might want to take one then respec it out later though). I have all the powers in the kinetic set, except fulcrum shift, which i plan on taking next. About the only power i'd think about leaving out is repel.
  16. Seen a lot of phrases like "required power" on the thread and have to say i dont have these required powers, and i know other people who dont.
Anywho, I have superjump on my (defender) stormie and find it adequate. If you plan on persuing runners you might need something else, hopefully as a controller, you wont have to do much chasing, just keep them locked down.

On my MM i have teleport and use the leftshift+rightclick bind to activate it. I have few problems getting away, 2 teleports and your usually safe. The big problem with TP is that it gobbles up endurance. Not so much a problem for MM's once your pets are ready, could be a problem for other AT's, although the invis power from illusion should give you time to recover endurance.

Anywho, whatever you pick just now, you can try out the temp travel powers in sirens later and go for a respec if you like those better. I dont think theres an SS temp power though.
  17. Have to disagree about the secondry, you get a chance to specialise or diversify depending on what you pick. Elec has some great end draining powers you can use to weaken the mobs, and dark has some good Acc debuffs and an immobalising power. Cant say much about the others as i havent tried them.

I haven't been in the PvP zones nearly as much as I would have wanted but I want to get a villain up to PvP because when ever I want a serious battle with the villains on my hero 9/10 times we out number them so im gonna try to even it out a bit or atleast have a villain waiting for when the heroes out number the villains.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was always swapping back and forward depending on the numbers but not many others do, be nice to have at least one more who does this. Its sad that a lot of the players in sirens seem only interested in playing when its a peice of cake due to overwhelming numbers (both sides) Once proper resistance is organised the majority of the none regulars seem to leave. Personally I dont understand what people get out of easy kills.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd like to switch over to rebalance the sides, but i've decided to play heroes on union and villains on defiant. That said, i do have at least one of each on both servers who are low level and they are both fun to play. Couldnt agree more with the leaving when your getting beat, not that i havent done it myself, getting constantly hammered isny much fun. Last night was a pretty good lesson in sticking around, we (heroes) outnumbered the villains, then it went to just 2 heroes and maybe 8 or more villains, then on to a pretty balanced side. Seems the best pvp nights i've been involved in, the sides swing around then find balance. Course, if people leave when they are outnumbered then it takes longer for a balance to be reached.

Seems to be more mouthy players over the last few weeks. Last night some guy sat in his base behind all those big guns and proclaimed himself the best at pvp in the game while shouting rude words.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this was on defiant then I think most know who he is, we usually have to get our heroes confused to lay a much deserved smackdown on him as he either just stays in base swearing or waits for us to ignore him then comes and killsteals, if its on union it sad that all servers have a jerk like this.

    Union, playing as a villain
  20. Seems to be more mouthy players over the last few weeks. Last night some guy sat in his base behind all those big guns and proclaimed himself the best at pvp in the game while shouting rude words.
  21. I said it was silly then gave directions to the post where i made my own suggestion. I didnt want to hijack the post by reposting my own idea.
  22. Its a stalker power which makes them invis again for a short while and stops u attacking them. Running away doesnt usually do anything so u may as well use any AoE's (i think those hit) or get any heals ready.
  23. I made a suggestion about a month ago which people can look up if they choose to so i'm certainly not just calling your idea silly and leaving it there. I think QiSnake has suggested about the only way to make your idea fit the game.
  24. Theres hasnt really been an end to this yet. can someone tell me what bug, i still dont see any difference.

I think thats a terrible idea.

Controllers have holds, its their main thing and to get them to indulge in some form of sub game while a stalker comes up from behind and [censored] you is not pvp. Blasters have no mez protection but can blow the attackee to kingdom come, its all swings and roundabouts. The mezz factor is fine as it is, it does next to no damage and is mainly a support character. Whats next? someone healing the opposition isnt fair on the person who is not getting healed to have his opponent restored to full health, what about someone with mezz protection, thats not fair for people with mezz powers, perhaps we need to come up with a sub game in order to see if each and every power hits/defends and is effective

I dont mean to be rude in anyway and Im sorry if it sounds like I am getting at you but the pvp system may not be perfect but it is pretty good. No AT is overpowered and all have their strengths, seeing as how there is a specific insp to negate mezz I dont see a problem with the system.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't play a lot of squishies do you?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think this is true for most of the people that play on the EU servers. In the US servers when talking about mez protection there was a huge call to to do something about it. This is because many many people play squishies (and im not talking about the empath kind). Ive been playing this game for nearly two years now and i started off in the US servers. Then i transferred over the uk servers a few months ago. One thing that struck me was the complete lack of knowledge about defenders amoung the people here. Also in pvp i never ever seem to see another defender except for the empthay kind. The fact that you tell me that there is no problem with the mezzing is telling me that you havent really played a true squishy before. I dont think you guys really understand the problem from a squishie point of view. The fact that you say toggle dropping is the biggest problems tells me that you most likely pvp with scrappers or tankers. Maybe my solution isn't the the best to this problem, but i assure there is a problem. Just as the squishy community on the US forums will tell you. Back when i was there it was the number one complaint that they had about pvp. Think about that before you say mezzing is not a problem. Also not one of you have given me an answer to my previous question.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think its a bit insulting to throw around phrases like "complete lack of knowledge about defenders amoung the people here."
Anyway, I agree the current situation isnt a good one, i hate getting held, 9 times out of 10 i wont live to escape, thats not a fun way to loose. However, to put it politely, I just dont think your solution is very good. Also, what previous question of yours wasnt answered? If I didnt answer I prolly missed it.
