Quote:I know a girl who was furious that Hermione wore a pink dress at the dance in Goblet of Fire instead of a blue one (or green or whatever). Same level of silliness as displayed by the above comment.Blue eyes. 'Volcanic blue'. Not brown. Just sayin'.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan_t...ian#Appearance
It's the performance and the persona that matter, not the minute details. Black Kingpin, two different actors playing Rhodey, David Banner instead of Bruce Banner. It's all about the impression that the audience takes home. The wow factor.
If you want to nitpick you might as well complain that Arnold's Conan didn't have skin that was burned dark bronze by the time he spent in the desert. That Thulsa Doom wasn't a black man and should have had a skull like face.
If you choose to reject the Conan movie before it ever comes out just because of the color of his eyes then you might want to consider suing the Simpson writers because they probably based Comic Book Guy on you. -

And I would have to be redside so I could have the battle cry "Snake! Arg snake!" -
And just like I said, it looks like Lafayette is the only one in the coven who actually has power. This is the second time that the circle was accomplishing nothing until he joined hands.

Quote:And considering the life span of the average computer plus the amount of people playing this game there are probably upwards of 50 players per day having some sort of hardware failure.Maybe when a lot of people are complaining about the same issue.
The problem isn't suspecting that it was the issue that did it. The problem was rather than saying something like "Is anyone else having crashing problems with the new issue" you said something more along the lines of "FIX YOUR GAME IT'S CRASHING!"
There are any number of causes to crashing. Yes, something on your end could very well have gone wrong at the same time as the new update to the game. Investigate possibilities BEFORE you assume and accuse. -
In my opinion no. A couple of the scenes were probably slightly better in 3D but not really all that much more impressive.

Quote:This^Funny list, and I feel bad about bringing it down, but ya just helped me to realize a sad point about the new tutorial experience.
I feel bad about Coyote myself, since I vaguely remember the story of how that character got named. Hopefully he's around in some manner in the new tutorial.
Coyote still needs to be around in game one way or another. -
Quote:Must have been the theater. It was fine where I saw it. The use of the 3d wasn't very good though. Almost none of the scenes had the sense of depth that make it worth the extra money. And no I don't mean stuff flying out of the screen. I mean distant objects looking like they are actually distant. It felt like a lot of the movie was actually filmed in 2D and not converted.Oh ya, something else...
The 3D sucked in this movie. I don't know if it was the projectionist, where I was sitting, or the actual movie, but about half of the scenes (and I mean literally half of the scene, half was in focus and half not) seemed blurry as hell. This was one of the few 3D movies that made my eyes water and gave me a headache. Even the craptacularness of Thor's 3D was better than the mess that I saw today.
On the other hand though I'm glad that the movie was filmed in 3D because it forced Bay to avoid his usual visual style of quick cuts and shaky-cam. -
Quote:Not really it isn't. The game system requirements have gradually been advancing throughout the life of the game. It's possible your system finally hit the tipping point.Indeed I do, thank you. When it runs fine up until the day of a new Issue, that is the logical conclusion an intelligent person would probably reach. Perhaps not you, then.
But as others have said you are probably running an ATI card and might want to roll back your drivers. -
If this applies to higher level minions as well then I see yet another farm fad coming.

There are multiple update servers. I know there were two dedicated NA servers and it's possible now that the versions have combined there may be more than that available.
However I'll now get to the actual point. Sometimes the connection to one server is unusually slow. So a possible solution is to stop and exit the downloader and then start it up again. Which server it connects to is purely random so you may get the same slow connection, or you may get a faster one. Several attempts are sometimes necessary. -
Man I'm behind the curve. I had no idea Roland Emmerich had a youtube channel.

Which antivirus are you using? And whichever antivirus it is do you have heuristic checks turned on? If so then it's probably a false positive.
Also do you have automatic updates turned on for windows? There was a recent update that has caused problems with some systems. A possible solution is to restore your computer to a point a couple weeks back and see if that fixes the problem. If it does then it was probably the update.
You can also try deleting the cityofheroes.exe file and then redownloading it. If your antivirus still detects a virus in the file then it is almost certainly a false positive. -
I don't think Tony has bad memories of his father any more. In IM2 he saw the movie from his father telling him that he believed Tony was the real future of Stark Enterprises. Plus he's gotten his own taste of how his obsession with his technology can lead to the alienation of those closest to him.

Have to say I agree with you on pretty much every one of your points Foamy. The one exception being that I think the faerie sub-plot > witch sub-plot.
Two reasons.
First the witches remind me too much of the movie "The Craft". A group of witches that like to think they have power but haven't been able to do anything. Then they get an outsider who has power but doesn't believe it to join them. Suddenly the coven gains real power. Hopefully that is as far as the similarity will go but it was the only thing going through my mind during the last ritual.
Second I like stories about the Fae. Not faeries but the actual Fae. Dark Fae, Light Fae, The Wild Hunt etc... And incidentally it's classic mythology that if you eat or drink anything in the realm of the Fae then you are trapped there forever. I would love to see a decent story about the Fae. I have to admit though that the way they did it in this episode reminded me more of Charmed than it did anything else. -
My apologies. In my first post I suggested not trying to reason with Durakken and listed the reasons why. then I went ahead and did it myself.
I feel like I've just spent the last few days telling a mirror to stop staring at me. -
Nah, you just have to scrap all your old lists and start again changing the rules for your lists to include the possibility that a dev list may wind up appearing in the midst of the list tournament. I'm looking forward to seeing the spreadsheet.

A version of "assemble the team" that works between zones.

If they do offer a lifetime subscription I suspect it will come in the following form.
First, everything that is unlocked to VIP players is unlocked for life. The account would cost about the same as a two year subscription.
Second, they get a lump sum of Paragon Points. Probably somewhere just OVER 9000!!! or about two years worth. However their subscription would not earn any points on a monthly basis so once they hit the two year mark those who chose to stick with the regular subscription model would surpass them in terms of value for dollars. -
It's obvious how the time manipulation set will work.
Debuff somebody and all their recharge timers get reset to anywhere from 2x to 10x duration. Plus their movement powers are reduced by an equivalent amount.
Buff somebody and their recharge timers are reduced anywhere from one half to one tenth. They don't get a movement boost though because too many people would rant about it.
So to restate.
Debuff=Rikti Invasion+KOA caltrops.
Buff=Game becomes FPS with infinite ammo. -
I just can not comprehend how anybody thinks they will be losing anything from this deal. Can you imagine a real life version of this?
The Freedom apartment complex has been renting out apartments for the past 7 years. These apartments come with a bedroom, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a central living space. They also come with access to a laundry room, workout room, cafeteria and games room with free games all open to tenants only.
Now Freedom Apartments undergoes a revamp. They add a swimming pool which is tenant use only. But they open their cafeteria and their free games room (containing such classics as Frogger and Mortal Kombat) to the general public. And they also make the announcement that if you have rented from them in the past you will also get access to the laundry room. Plus if you have lived there for at least 3 years you will also get access to the workout room. And anybody who eats at the cafeteria often enough can also earn access to the laundry and workout rooms.
The people who are complaining about what they are losing here are like somebody in the Freedom Apartments scenario complaining that they are planning on moving out but because they lived in the apartments for 5 years they should have access to the kitchenette and bedroom that were in their old apartment because they paid for it in the past and so deserve to have it now. -
That scenes not messed up is purely your opinion. As I said before I enjoyed all the regular non vital bits except for the Hammond stuff. And I thought the graphics were just fine. Maybe if like you I had only seen it as a cam version then I wouldn't have liked it as much. But you definitely have no basis on which to judge quality of effects when you are basing it on a cam version.
The only part I agree with you on is that Hammond should have been removed. And even at that I don't mind the Hammond being recruited and examining the body part. I just don't like how the character was approached as a threat. It felt just tagged on. Much in the same way that Sandman should have been the only villain in Spidey 3. Yes Hammond is a regular villain in the GL mythology but a lame one. It is my feeling that ANY super hero origin movie should have only one villain. After the origin movie then it's acceptable to bring in multiples but only if it's well done. The sole exception to this rule is Scott Pilgrim where it worked great because the villains were intended to exist solely for the fights and didn't need any character development.
Here is my final argument against your analysis Durakken. I didn't think the writing, special effects or acting was bad. Blake Lively was a bit wooden but she always is and it didn't matter because she didn't have much screen time. It was Hal's story, not hers. Hopefully if at some point they decide to make a Star Sapphire it will be a different actress playing her.
Hammond was just plain out of place.
Everything else fit just fine.
I liked the movie. This is my argument. I liked it. Other people liked it. We can not possibly be wrong because unless somebody hypnotized us or in some other way altered our perceptions then we actually did enjoy the movie. You didn't enjoy it, I get it. But like I said before. I think you tend to make assumptions based on your expectations of what you are going to see rather than what you actually see. And you saw a cam version. Even the best movies can suck when you are watching a version recorded by somebody on an iphone. -
First, I like the concept of the store and here is the reason.
No freaking security check and confirmation of your identity needed if you have somehow changed ip since the last time you accessed your account. Unless you need to refill your supply of points or however that works. But for most long time vets the 400 points a month will probably be sufficient because we already have all the vet rewards or a large amount at any rate. And if you actually do need to buy points ahead of time you could buy them a huge chunk at a time and avoid needing to visit the account page multiple times.
But as to the way the store works I would slightly prefer that it be a drop down menu that allows me to access the store. That way if I'm on a team and see somebody with a cool new costume part or temp power I won't have to wait until I'm through playing and have possibly forgotten. I just have to wait until the team has a brief downtime and click through to the store. It could even help out in situations where a player finds that their particular power set is pretty much useless against a particular enemy. Team stops long enough to let that player buy a temp power that will be useful. Of course you are only going to see this situation at low levels.
A physical store won't be quite as good for the company either. It cuts down on impulse buys. For instance people who own Kindles wind up buying a lot more books than people who don't and that's mostly because of easy impulse buying.
