How about if we had space dragons? The old Superman cartoons had Superman fighting space dragons all the time. Plus there's a precedent as dragons from other planets have appeared in Anne McCaffrey's books and in Julian May's books.

I've always felt that CO* should have more classic giant monsters appear, especially with the game's origins in classic Graeco-Roman mythology.
  2. I don't think I've ever seen this in-game, but are the legs mounted on the backs of the Crab Soldiers (and Lord Recluse) meant to offer transport abilities? Could they use those legs to move around, walk up buildings, etc.? I mean, I know wall-crawling isn't offered in-game (yet! although this would be a great way to introduce it in-game!), but is there any mention of it in the novels or comics?

I was reading up on Lord Recluse's description on ParagonWiki, and they describe the arms as being part of his body. This might imply that they're used for locomotion and not just to look scary and bad-***. Is this the case?

    Thanks!
  3. I hope the Alpha and Omega set isn't the only set announced for August. It's nice, but I'd like to see more!
  4. Just guessing, but maybe it'd be a booster based on something Praetorian-related? If it were closer to Halloween I'd guess something spookier, but what with the release of GR this might be a little something extra to make the release even sweeter.
  5. I just got this giant bee in my bonnet...
I'm looking for artwork based on those Bruce Timm templates which were real popular a while back. I'm looking for the templates themselves, any DC character designs, and any other bits and pieces from the Bruce Timm-related shows.

    Then...
I was wondering if there might be any links to CO*-related Timm artwork. I'd just like to hook up with other artists to compare notes and ideas.

    Thanks in advance!
  6. Oooo... does that mean there will be some new CyberDemons to fight? Or a new Cacodemon boss? That'd be so cool...

Oh. Wait. You meant DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!, not DOOM.

    Oh.

    Excuse me....

    The CoX effect

You know... It's funny. I found myself playing Co* again after trying out CO and a couple of other MMOs too. I mean, I drifted away because I wanted to see new content, I wanted to battle different types of opponents, I wanted to try on new costumes. But I got caught in some quick pick-up missions on Virtue and it was like coming home again! I was a bit rusty and couldn't type in jokes as fast as I used to, but it was a lot of fun.

Now, my 8 year old son plays. He rolled up an ice blaster and he's running around getting used to the controls, and he's telling me all these corny ice jokes he uses on opponents. "Ice to meet you", "Ice gotta get back to you on that one", and we laugh and he's enjoying himself.

I used to think I'd stick around until after GR comes out and see then mosey on to DCUO. Now I don't know. Maybe I'll stick around longer than that.

...but darned if I'm not going to campaign harder about adding new content to the existing game! Some of that content I saw out there is pretty cool and I'd like to see aspects of it brought here to Co* to help the game grow.
  8. I think I'd read that bit about clowns as MM minions having been requested and had now become an inside joke. But then I was reminded of the Astro City character Jack-in-the-Box ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack-in...ox_(Astro_City) ) and thought he'd made an excellent model for a CO* powerset. Add some sleep deprivation and suddenly it's a vast CO* conspiracy...!

    http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0...-box_large.jpg
  9. But if clowns are so scary, then they'd make an excellent costume set for Stalkers, wouldn't they? Or Corruptors, or any of the villain groups.

I just... and I don't mean to go off on a rant or anything... if it's something people have been asking for, wouldn't it be good to satisfy the customer base with something relatively simple like this? I mean, I don't presume to know how easy/hard it is to make a new costume set for a Super Booster, but if we can get a new Mutant set, how hard could it be to make a clown-themed set?

...which makes me wonder if there has been work on this and they're trying to tweak it to get it "just right".

    Might this make sense?
  10. For as long as I've been playing, players have wanted more clown items in CO*...
    Clown costume pieces...
    Clown-themed powersets...
Clown minions for masterminds to control...
    Clown-themed events...
... and players have been told "No".

I don't understand. Why is this so? Is it because it doesn't fit in with "the CO* milieu"? Or is something else going on?

Has there been an official reason?
  11. More interior ideas:

    - an indoor hockey rink! with the added bonus of sliding around
    - an indoor soccer or football rink!
(Both of the above could be accessed via assigned missions through doors in the PVP arenas. Perhaps via a newspaper or radio mission.)
    - more buildings similar to the interior for the Frostfire mission, taken over by fire, ice, or even giant plants. Maybe even one taken over by ghosts or Giger-esque aliens!
  12. I would love to see new building interiors. Some examples might be:
    - large mall
    - small mall
    - school
    - large museum
    - small museum
    - inside of a circus tent

    Thanks.

Well, yes, assume it was well done...

What would you play? What would you like to see?
  14. Here Paragon has this cool IP, City of Heroes/Villains. It's a 3D environment which is fully explorable, with different places to visit, etc.

Would you play a different CO* game which presents aspects of the IP in a different format?

For example, would you play a CO* fighting game, like the Street Fighter series, only featuring CO* signature characters?

Or would you play a 2D platform game, like Dungeon Fighter Online, set in the CO* universe?

Or a RTS version of CO*, done in isometric view, like games like Command and Conquer or Starcraft? Or even like Diablo?

What would you pick? What might you like to see?

    3. It is a powerset made up of 4 powers not just a single power

    4. it would be faster than Ninja Run and allow you to jump a bit farther.

I have used the Ninja Run power however my two biggest problems with Ninja run is that it is not enhanceable and that you do not have the option to be in the ninja run stance or not while it is activated. Also I think the other powers in this set would be a benefit as well especially to scrappers, stalkers and brutes.
You know what? I like it. We may not get it, but I like it. I really do.

Just because of current limitations (whether in software, hardware, resources, whatever) doesn't mean we should shoot an idea down. There's some cool ideas here. I would love to be able to have some of my alts use this.

    Power up!

EDIT: Magoo, what outfit is that you used for your Arbiter Sands picture?
GG - I used bits and pieces from different sets. The base texture is from a set which is no longer sold through Renderosity. (I've been at this for a while... )

If you have any questions, you can always bug me at my deviantArt account. I tend to lurk there a bit more and am glad to answer questions.
  17. ...various alts as characters in my missions?

I was looking through my alts and some of my creations never made it past Level 1. They were combinations I wanted to try out but never really went anywhere with them. Now I see them for what they are... opponents and allies for MA storylines!!

I remember being able to save new costume combos for use in MA, but I haven't been playing for a while and don't know what the current capabilities are.

Once I can save my alts as customs for MA, I plan on deleting them so I can free up slots for new alts...
  18. Due to the mixed reactions of adding this, maybe it could be done as a mini-paid enhancement like some of the extra costumes. It'd probably have to be all sorts of unique powers specific for a mini-hero or mini-villain. Stuff like:

    - Ear Disruption, which has the character fly to the target's head, disappear, and appear to cause internal ear damage to the opponent
    - Multi-attack, which had the mini character fly to the target and appear to strike multiple times over the opponent's body
    - Confusion, which has the character fly around the opponent to make them dizzy
    - Bullet, which has the character strike his opponent with one swift sharp attack which does massive damage

These are ones I came up with right off the top of my head. There are probably others.

It would take some real creativity and imagination to pull it off, but it'd be the kind of add-on that would add extra flavor to the game.

    Kinetic Melee!

Anyone notice that the character demonstrating Kinetic Melee looked like the Marvel character Speedball before he became all dark and twisted?

Speedball's powers were supposed to be Kinetic in nature, only he did it with lots of Ditko Bubbles (which are different from Kirby Dots).
  20. I'm not trying to get anyone into trouble or call down the wrath of any lawyers!

I'm just curious if there are any arcs or missions which feature characters or situations which might seem familiar but which take place with CO* assets.

For example, a couple of months ago I'd innocently asked if anyone had any suggestions on how to create a Jedi-based character, and I got a bunch of responses. Based on this, has anyone created any Jedi- or Sith-influenced missions for MA?

For another example, I know some people here have played the Freedom Force series of games. Has anyone created a story arc featuring the continuing adventures of a Freedom Force-like team?

For a final example, we've got Paragon busy at work on their Mirror Universe version of Paragon City. In the comics, Mirror Universe stories have given us the Squadron Sinister, the Squadron Supreme, the Crime Syndicate of America and countless others. Are there any arcs which feature analogues of already-existing superteams to fight alongside or against our characters?

Like I said, I'm not looking to get anyone into trouble, but using existing characters as templates for new ones is a long-running staple of comics literature. Has this tradition been taken up here in MA?
  21. For one second, having been raised on a steady supply of PnP gaming supplements, I thought "Finally! They're offering a neat expansion that adds to the gaming experience!"

    Then I started reading...

Then I remembered what day it is...

    ...
    ...sigh...
    ...
  22. Nice work! Where are you going to school, if I may ask?
  23. Ooops! Sorry. I thought it'd moved into Open Beta status...
  24. Wow. I hadn't thought of that. That sounds cool. I guess that Thugs aren't customizable?

Would we not find out about I17-based MA missions until I17 drops? Would someone in open beta be able to try it?
