Crab Soldier/Lord Recluse/etc. question

I don't think I've ever seen this in-game, but are the legs mounted on the backs of the Crab Soldiers (and Lord Recluse) meant to offer transport abilities? Could they use those legs to move around, walk up buildings, etc.? I mean, I know wall-crawling isn't offered in-game (yet! although this would be a great way to introduce it in-game!), but is there any mention of it in the novels or comics?

I was reading up on Lord Recluse's description on ParagonWiki, and they describe the arms as being part of his body. This might imply that they're used for locomotion and not just to look scary and bad-***. Is this the case?

Thanks!

I've often thought that it would be somewhat cool if, while flying, your Crab legs fired rocket trails out of their ends. If you've ever used Flying with the backpack, the legs kind of stick down underneath you and "wriggle".

They don't appear to have any purpose but as mount points for either lasers or machine guns, though. And they are apparently sharp enough to use as slashing weapons. But I would guess they can't be used to pick up anything.

Recluse is different though, as his arms are "real". It's not a backpack, he has real spider arms growing out of his back. He might be able to pick up things and grasp with them.

Also, it's likely that the Tarantulas are an extension of the technology, with the person "inside" lying prone, and using the legs (with his arms as the front two legs) to walk around. Of course, some are robots, but the Mistresses obviously aren't.

My understanding is that they all have a human brain in them, but only the mistresses have (almost) whole human bodies. (edit) but looking at the info text again, I'm not sure where I got that idea. Maybe I just thought that because the mistresses (and queens) were the only ones with exposed human bodies. Maybe the others have human bodies completely concealed by the suits.

Take a closer look at the test tubes when you're in an Arachnos facility. Many of them are sporting just as real legs as Lord Recluse.

I believe those are supposed to be something else entirely....

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Lord Recluse himself acknowledges the ridiculousness of the lack of utility with the Crab Spider backpack arms, but during prototyping of the Crab Spider Pack systems, back when they ended into folded claw-hands that could actually pick things up and so forth, Marvel threatened to sue Arachnos for infringement on their Doc Ock's trademark.
And so, reluctantly, all additional utility beyond killing for the Crab Spider backpacks had to be dropped, the only positive note was that this reduced unit production price by thirty percent.

Tarantulas are cyborgs, it's the Arachnobots that are completely robotic. Tarantulas require an integration process which many subjects do not survive, though the mortality rate isn't so dire in the case of Fortunatas that volunteer for the program (perhaps some combination of their power, their willingness to have the procedure performed, and the altered suit for Tarantula Mistresses helps). But it's certainly not so simple as lying inside the suit and using your limbs to operate the spider digits; Arachnos often recycles severely crippled soldiers into the Tarantula program to make them useful again.
