I've never used Daz before. I used to use poser. Its good program to help get some dynamic poses. I cant really say which is better though.

It's more a personal preference thing at this point. I prefer DAZ Studio for my work. I have a set of plug-ins I'm most comfortable with that I use all the time and I'm happy as a clam. I also like that the file sizes DS saves at are significantly smaller than Poser files; this is nice as I tend to make lots and lots of characters and this allows me to work without gobbling up my hard drive space.

I use Poser - I find it easier to work with.

Also, those wheels don't need to be used if you don't want to - just type in the numbers beside them

For some reason, there don't seem to be many users of either program here, even though there are lots of Poser/DAZ superhero-friendly items for free or purchase on the net.

EDIT: Magoo, what outfit is that you used for your Arbiter Sands picture?

Poser is like Office. It's the paid version, so it's going to be developmentally further along than DAZ (or OpenOffice).

You can use either to get most of what you want, probably, but Poser is definitely the more powerful of the two.

Also while there are some DAZ-only products, by far the majority are made with Poser in mind, and often haven't even been tested in DAZ - although they will mostly still work with it, I think.

If you're really concerned about rendering, the best renderer on the market is in 3D Studio MAX. Ideally, use something to make your scene in, doesn't matter what, and then export it to a format MAX can use and render it there.

How easy is to to use 3DS Max? Like is it simple to import Poser scenes, and then just click to render, or is there a lot of set up work needed too?

Well, you can just click on the render and it'll make it...

... And it'll be completely useless.

I mean, the fact that you import in 3ds max proves that you want to do more than what Daz and Poser do, right ? It means extra efforts too in 3ds max : you have to make and choose your lights and shadows, place it, choose the type of render too (wanna play with mental ray ?).

I use same technic as SablePhoenix (well, except that I bought my 3ds max, I use this soft in my work after all).

Now, you can say : Doh ! I have to do all these things in max ?
And I'll answer : Don't whine, Maya can push you to suicide with all its parameters to play with.

Anyway, I can show you the basics if you want^^

Yes, I should've clarified here. The piracy of 3DS MAX is only bypassed for strictly personal use. If you use it professionally or are compensated for the work you do, you better have a license for it.

GG - I used bits and pieces from different sets. The base texture is from a set which is no longer sold through Renderosity. (I've been at this for a while... )

If you have any questions, you can always bug me at my deviantArt account. I tend to lurk there a bit more and am glad to answer questions.

Gonna add to the questions if that's ok.

I'm pretty interested in these programs but I have no clue how to use them and I can't draw, is it still somewhat easy to learn?

Also can you make your own designs. Like if I'm recreating a one of my characters can I make his costume look just like it is in game or do I have to choose already established pieces?
