Believe it or not my most recent 50 is a Elec/Elec/Mu Brute that I recently converted to the blueside
For the most part he is one of my all time fav melee 50s I have ever made.
(I also love my old Mace/WP Tank a ton too)
I have to admit I love never running out of end with the Brute.
The balance of offense/defense has been a lot of fun and I solo'd with it 99% of the time getting to 50.
The only groups/baddies I had probs with were the Ring Mistresses of the Carnies and maybe a little bit of Nemeses when I had the mobs TOO big.
(But that was rare)
The MU Patron Pool rocks with it also.
For the range of the powers, the Mu Striker's help, and the electric fences are awesome to start mobs out with also.
Overall I enjoy the toon immensely.
(P.S.)
I always use IOs on my toons (rarely sets of them) but tend to respec the heck out of all of them til I got the right "feel" that I am comfortable with.
Usually that means never having my blue bar move much at all and dishing out plenty of damage. -
I have to admit this thread intrigued me since my newest toon
(and only new one since GR's release) is a KM/EA Brute in Praetoria.
Since I work a ton I don't get the chance to play as much as I would like,
I have had some time to notice that I can tell EA is gonna be on the squishie side the higher I get....
and combined with the KM I have noticed they suck end like a ****.
(More than the usual toon to lev 14 it feels to me)
It is the first time I have ever tried a EA toon of any sort.
I got it mainly for the way it looks....
I will probably keep it a while also....
but I doubt if I ever attempt another, LOL
After 4 years on the game, about 20 lev 50s..... and toooooOoooOoo many alts deleted in my memory....
EA is not for someone who wants a sturdy defense -
Cool to hear....
danke mucho -
The only new toon I have created since GR went live is a KM/Energy Aura Brute also for the same reasons.
Did you have many end issues in the teens with it or no?
Seems to me it sucks more end than most other melee toons I have ever used.... but I wasn't sure.
I created mine for the same reason(s) you did also. (The "look") LOL -
This is kind of a dumb reply.
I work 50+ hours a week on all shifts all the time.....
so I am not the most "alert" person in the world lately.
So NEW toons created recently have an inherent stamina "built in" then???
For how long has this escaped my eyes? LOL
I created a KM Brute in Praetoria that I have gotten to 14 slowly but I'll be damned if I can tell it has some sorta built in stamina.
Runs thru end like a **** actually.
Actually it runs thru end just like any other toon I have created in the last 4 years.
So if this is all true......
I could respec any of my dozen or so 50s and see how they would perform WITHOUT the fitness pool then??
Kinda scary to take that chance if I am overall happy with end issues with most of them and such.
I am just a little confused is all.
That KM Brute is the only new toon I have created since GR went live.
Most of my playing time that I have squeezed in has been pre-occupied with side-switching and stuff -
Merry Christmas from a 3 year vet that doesn't post much on the forums...
even though the forum is my IE homepage and I read it alot!
ROCK ON INFINITY!!!
Can't wait til Going Rogue comes out......
Patrick (Magellen on Infinity) -
I logged on earlier and seen the problem was fixed as far as I could tell
Woot! Woot!
~Wake of Magellen -
Same thing happened to me earlier today also.
I purchased a "name change" yesterday for a toon I had on Guardian.
Then purchased a "server change" to take it to Infinity.
Then purchased some extra slots on Infinity for new toons.
Today I decided to delete the ones I created late last night and I get the old "lock-out" also.
If I were to lose my money on this??
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr, LOL

This is an odd question(s).
I let my son use my account over the summer when he was with me,
and he leveled a Ninja/Storms MM all the way to 50
I am sooooooo used to playing blueside that I am not used to the redside stuff.
Well.....
I logged his toon on for craps and giggles and noticed he has not done any of the Epic Power stuff apparantly.
He started the Capt. Mako arc, and from what I understand ya have to finish that arc to "access" epics??
Is that the case?
I am just curious.
Mainly because I told him I would finish the arc for him if that would do it for him.
Is that pretty much the way it would work for the toon then?
Just curious,
any and all info would help.
Danke,
Wake of Magellen -
Thanks for the tips guys.
I enjoy playing this Defender... lotsa fun.
I just want to maximize what I can do for it
Anything else ya can think for it?
Concerning power pools I grabbed concealment, medicine, and teleportation since the name for it is the "Huntsman of Magellen" -
I was just curious if there was a way to create or enhance a FULL ARCHER DEFENDER to where some actual damage is done and to be the most helpful to teaming and what not.
I created a Archery/Trick Arrow Defender recently and have him to level 33... but I was wondering if there were any tips on this sort of build?
Danke in advance,

Ahhhhhh....
I am so glad I found this topic.
AE is a massive double-edged sword....
and very dangerous.
It CAN be very dangerous in the fact that it IS rewarding people who are newer to the game with leveling toons far, far faster than ever in the game's history.
Which I have seen newer people asking (or more accurately [censored]) about how bad other newer people play.
Like someone else said also....
I check the Vet Badges on everyone I team with now.....
believe me it helps a LOT.
Plus...
with AE it is not just the farming for noobs that makes the playing skill erode and not blossom....
but it makes the "instant gratification" factor just grow more and more sadly.
Many MANY new peeps have no clue how to enhance their toons' powers... I share as much info as I can (as long as they show SOME level of respect when asking).
Or when they have NO CLUE on how to get to ANY zone in the game that is NOT Atlas Park.
Hell....
I love sooooo many other zones in the game a lot more than AP.
I miss going to Croatoa, Striga, Peregrine, Faultline and a few others.
So for me overall...
when it comes to AE...
the jury is still out.
Good things happen.
Bad things happen.
But I will just keep on keeping on with the love I have for this game.
On Infinity:
Wake of Magellen (lev 50 Nrg/Nrg Blaster)
Healer of Magellen (lev 50 Emp w/Dark Blast Defender)
Hammer of Magellen (lev 50 Willpower/Mace Tanker)
Red Star of Magellen (lev 50 Fire/Fire Tanker)
Captain of Magellen (lev 46 Willpower/Super Strength Tanker)
Fire of Magellen (lev 41 Fire/Fire Blaster)
Element of Magellen (lev 39 Earth/Emp Controller)
Sword of Magellen (lev 38 Katana/Dark Armor Scrapper)
Claw of Magellen (lev 35 Claw/Regen Scrapper)
Huntsman of Magellen (lev 33 Full Archery Defender)
Plus many other Magellens lev 22+ that I cannot remember off the top of my head, LOL -
I can understand and relate to a little bit of every opinion on this topic.
This is how I generally handle my 50s:
They make influence for the rest of my newer toons!
I have 4 lev 50s currently on Infinity.
A Nrg/Nrg Blaster (Wake of Magellen)
An Emp with Dark Blasts (Healer of Magellen)
A Willpower/Mace Tanker (Hammer of Magellen)
And a Fire/Fire Tanker (Red Star of Magellen)
At one point or another I usually have enuff influence banked with one or more of them that i can easily spread around to newer Magellens of other ATs that I tend to create from time to time.
Right now I have 11 other Magellens that are all atleast lev 25+ and all started out with a couple million in influenced banked from the beginning via trades and such.
I tend to think there is plenty of content for lev 50s and such to play on COH.
TONS of it to play before the magical 50 goodness also I might add.
But I like to experiment with different powers, origins, contacts and "routes" on how my toons level and such also.
The only thing that has thrown a monkey-wrench into it recently is AE.
AE is excellent for fast leveling, don't get me wrong.
But....
it CAN make you a sloppy player on excelling your toon just in the skill it takes to make your toon better.
Comfort level with each toon I suppose.
Otherwise....
I never get bored with COH and I have been with the game for almost 3 years now.
Hell....
I love it more than ever.
But I DO miss life on the game PRE-AE a lot of times....
just because it gave your toon something MORE to look forward to.
(Seeing the other zones and villian groups and such more often)
WAPLs and Lefties vs Righties do not count, LOL
~Peace out -
Funny thing is.....
I hate the Rikti.
But.....
I love going on Pylon/Ship Raids in the RWZ!!
First time I ever did it when the issue came out it felt like being a part of a wierd "Independence Day" movie spin-off.
Granted....
I have to play the game in the game's "safe-mode".....
but it is still well worth it.
In my opinion from the opinion's I have gathered the last couple years not many people at all play in safe mode... ever.
Sadder thing was.....
a big chunk of them did not even know about the lil' box you can click when you start the game up to make the "safe-mode" version of the game load.
I found THAT to be very sad.
Otherwise.....
the Rikti Invasions in the zones are still cool to me.
But the Pylon/Ship Raiding in the RWZ will NEVER get old if the right amount of peeps continue doing it. -
I admit that Stamina SOs helped a LOT after lev 22 when it came to end-drain issues.
The only charachter I have Dark Armor with is a current lev 38 Katana Scrapper.
Since he is not my "main" by any stretch and I don't have the time that I would love to develop him properly, he generally does not have the stash to just go out and buy IOs like crazy that were mentioned.
Believe me in the perfect world... would have been done by now.
I also already knew about those particular IOs and the KB resistance helpfullness.... but I am basically talking about the "average" Dark Armor user.
Players without level 50 charachters to trade influence with to purchase them and what not.
I have several lev 50s blue-side on Infinity....
but with the pricing that commonly goes on at WW they generally pay for their own IO sets and such.
But yeah.....
when it comes to endurance management, I generally do quite well on almost every charachter I have ever created that made it to the "Lev 22 SO-Heaven" range....
I am just stating that the Dark Armor has sapped end more than anything I have ever tried with the possible exception of Electricity in all it's forms. -
Ahhhh..
this is a very good question/topic.
I agree with most of it all is IS just major tweaking and such needed.
But saying that here are the power sets I would say annoy me the most:
1. Dark Armor
Visually it is excellent.
MOST of it is VERY useful.
2 main things get on my nerves the most about it though.
A) The end rain.
Can we have MORE toggles for it please? (sarcasm)
B) The lack of a proper KB resistance for it.
I would REALLY love to be able to fly with this...
except you HAVE to take acrobatics JUST to not have the feeling of being tossed around like a rag doll.
2. Axe
Mainly for "cosmetic" reasons.
I wish there were more options for the axe.
"Mace" is a close 2nd.... but there are a few more cosmetic options thankfully.
3. Dark Miasma for Defenders.
Just kinda weak... even if it is kind of nice looking cosmetically.
4. Ice Control
BorrRRRrrring.
Boring and weak.
LOL
5. This last one is not "underperforming" so to speak...
but I just HAD to throw my 2 cents in.
I have ALWAYS wanted to create an "Electric Tank"......
and "Electric Brutes" are sooooo cool.
Thankfully THAT will be possible in the near future! -
I have to admit....
I have 4 level 50 charachters.
My very first toon from about 3 years ago was an Nrg/Nrg Blaster that I got to 50 about 2 years ago.
I learned sooooo much with that charachter.
My 2nd was a Empathy Defender with Dark Blasts.
My 3rd was a Willpower/Mace Tanker that it damn near takes a mountain range to drop on him to stun him.
Hell.... that Tanker used to farm lev 52 Malta solo with 7 others anchoring to max out the mobs and bosses....
and he would still kick major booty!
My last lev 50 was a Fire/Fire Tank....
but they nerfed a lot of the powers on that particular build when he was in his teens while leveling.
So it kinda took some of the motivation out while leveling him.
But...
I have to admit....
generally I have gotten quicker and quicker on leveling ANY toon anymore.
This was all PRE-AE too I might add.
But I have to admit also....
more maps/zones and content would REALLY rock with this game.
But I love 90% of the whole COH experience anyways. -
Danke.
Yeah....
this game has been my favorite "hobby" for nearly 3 years now.
I never played another MMO game before....
and I have had no desire to play any others the whole time either.
I just showed up on Infinity one day and learned and learned and learned the hard way with my very first toon (A level 50 Nrg/Nrg Blaster) and learned the game by trial and error.
I met some nice people along the way, read the forums all the time and did my research on other websites about COH and found the game more and more fascinating as time has gone by.
I now have 4 level 50s (would have a LOT more if I were not creating alts like crazy all the time) and of the 16 charachters I have created on Infinity that I play, 4 of them are 50, and the other 12 are between levs 26 and 43.
All named "____ of Magellen"
Everyone generally knows it's me.
Which is another reason why I love the game! -
Long time forum reader here, first time poster.
I tend to MAJORLY enjoy the Rikti ship attacks in the zone.
They remind me of a time before AE and when going to the RWZ was something to look forward to.
My 16 year old son is with me for the whole summer and he has listened to me quite a few times in the past year or so about how neat it is to go on a Pylon/Ship raid in the RWZ.
After explaining it to him a few zillion times I finally got to show him what the raid was like.....
he thought it was one of the coolest things ever on a game.
I let him play with several of my charachters on Infinity and let him create his own on another server with my account...
and I have "shown him the light" on how very cool this game is and can be.
He is getting his own account this week for when he goes back to his mother's for the winter so we can play together online from 600 miles apart!
