Achery/Trick Arrow Questions

I was just curious if there was a way to create or enhance a FULL ARCHER DEFENDER to where some actual damage is done and to be the most helpful to teaming and what not.

I created a Archery/Trick Arrow Defender recently and have him to level 33... but I was wondering if there were any tips on this sort of build?

Step 1: Slot Acid Arrow as a debuff. Use it on everything.
Step 2: Slot Oil Slick Arrow as an attack. Use it on everything as well, and get used to the bugs.
Step 3: Slot Disruption Arrow for recharge so you can use it on everything too.

Now combine this with your favorite attack chain from Archery, plus Rain of Arrows whenever it's up. Congratulations! You're doing damage!

I enjoy playing this Defender... lotsa fun.
I just want to maximize what I can do for it
Anything else ya can think for it?
Concerning power pools I grabbed concealment, medicine, and teleportation since the name for it is the "Huntsman of Magellen"

For Damage, you, the Defender, won't really be doing most of it. You will, however, be giving your team the opportunity to do a whole lot more though:

Acid and Disruption Arrows. LOVE them! Each will put out 20% -RES. Acid won't self-stack, but with enough +Rech, Disrupt will. That'll push the output to 40% -RES normally, and 60% -RES in a high-octane build.

Oil Slick Arrow: Max out DMG and Rech, as soon as possible. 3 DMG, 3 Rech is the SO rule of thumb. Once you graduate to IOs, you can get the same core values easier and have a slot or two left over for extras. I suggest the Achilles' Heel -RES proc and the Impeded Swiftness DMG proc (Chance for smashing)

And then there's your AoEs. Fistful is a must, Explosive is hit or miss and Rain of Arrows is the reason you took the set.

Most helpful to teaming could possibly mean taking the entire primary. For ample flexibility, all of the powers are worth taking in my opinion. Trick Archers are also as good as any defender in their own way.

On a related note, my controller just got Acid Arrow. It recharges very fast. I was just going to throw an Accuracy and End Reducer in it and call it a day since I have lots of slot-hungry powers. Will that work well? I mean the main aspect of it is the -DR and you can't slot for that so is there much point to tricking it out? I'm not running into a lot of stuff I can't hit so maxing out the -def aspect seems like overkill.

Oh. Procs. I should probably proc it up, huh?

2x Lysosome HOs (Acc/-DEF/-ToHit)
2x Rech IOs

What APP do people recommend for a TA/A defender? I''ve taken Dark for now since Soul Drain sounds useful (based on my experiences with mire on my Warshade) but Dark Consumption feels like a wasted power and I'm uncomfortable with taking Opressive Gloom due to the health loss so I'm comtemplating switching it for Power Mastery.

I'd heartily agree with this. If EMP Arrow is the "I Win" Button, this only makes it twice as great, when you really need it.

Hmmmm.... I hadn't considered the effect of Power Boost on EMP Arrow. Does the defense buff bonus of Power Boost apply to defense debuffs as well?

Yes.

For reference, EMPA+PBU, once slotted, is a 65s Mag 3 Hold. Which also has a chance for +1 Mag, which is enough to hold most Bosses.

Plus PBU's also a decent +DMG boost. While it is on a pretty long recharge, it's nice to have for a really good hit.

Now that is cool. I'll probably end up respeccing once I hit 50 anyway (theres a few other places I want to tweak my build) when I do I think I'll switch Dark Mastery for Power Mastery. Plus it'll mean I can put Aim back into my build if I only take PBU and Temp Invulnerability from Power Mastery.

and when you really want to go overkill, you hit the Vanguard accolade before PBU.

I got question, did they fix that where you can't us Oil Slick Arrow with the Blazing Arrow anymore?

AFAIK, there was never a problem like that.

If you mean the bug where OSA spawns as a friendly target inside the Mission Architect, I can't say one way or the other. I just don't know.

If you mean something else, uh... elaborate?

I can shoot my firey arrow of damage at my oil slick of damage. It goes boom. Then enemies fry.

Explosive Arrow should have a fire component tho to the damage, I feel. Then it'd be nice.

Except for that part where it would simultaneously light the oil slick (if the thing feels like lighting) and knock enemies off of said oil slick and any other debuff patches.

But, yeah, it's silly that the fiery explosion graphic isn't accompanied by any fire damage. A smashing/fire split wouldn't be inappropriate at all.
