No powersets came with boosters before.
A few powers were included in some though.
Ninja Run from martial arts pack
Beast Run from animal pack
SteamJump from yada yada
Those are currently unavaible if you hadn't bought the pack though, as the store is offline.
Also, in case you are just coming back and hadn't seen. We will soon be getting Time Manipulation with issue 21 as well as a good bit of prolif.
Then, shortly after Issue 21 we will get Street Justice and Beam Rifle sets in the store for purchase. You will have to use Paragon Points to unlock these sets, even as a subscriber.
Also on the horizon is talk of a Staff Fighting set. -
*Shrug*
Personally I won't ever use it.
I wasn't aware this was coming, hopefully it won't produce the myriad of easter egg colors I'm seeing in my head...
I'm still getting used to the new Help/Helper colors as it is. That purple can make it hard to read sometimes so I can only imagine the abuse.
Wait a sec...
Doesn't this entirely negate the reason they added the color coding to helper/help? Figured that was to make it easily recognizable from afar, won't really be useful if every player now has a different 'set' of colors floating above them. -
Also,
Kinetic Melee
Electric Control
Not sure about proliferated sets though. -

Quote:PvP is part of the game that people payed for upon purchasing city of Heroes/Villains in the first place. Your subscription and mine also pay for the server resources that facilitate it.
Wrong. 100%
This game was not designed to have PvP. Going so far as to tout the game as being PvP free when launched. This is why we have the utterly annoying PvP zone contact fedex's. When they decided to add PvP with the introduction of Villains they had to go out of their way to let us know it was optional. The players at the time didn't want PvP in 'their' playground and had to be assured they wouldn't have to participate.
Also why PvE and PvP rewards are kept seperate.
PvP was added over a year after the game launched. Issue 4 To be specific.
Therefor, I can say 100% that I didn't buy the game for PvP as it wasn't even an option at the time. In this game I've always viewed it as gravy, nice to have but not necessary. Was great fun before i13 gutted it though...
Edit to add: He know's it's spamming, he's just trying to kill the thread. -
Indeed. The tone of the OP's posts have certainly changed once he realized it was a majority of 'No' instead of the expected reaction of 'Yes'
The ever present "Back to the question. Holiday bonus play, yes or no, and why?" Lets me know he's just fishing until he's supported.
Medic, that isn't being open minded. That's farming for support when the anticpated reaction isn't recieved. As well as being slightly rude, being a "yeah you disagree so I'm not paying attention" feeling off of it. Just letting you know, you seem like an intelligent chap, but perception is a hard thing to overcome in an anonymous setting.
The 1st post was enough to generate the discussion. Putting the main topic at the end of every post to keep it going when everything has been said just sours others opinion on the debate.
It works in other MMO's more readily because they tend to start at level cap. So everyone is always in a mad rush for the cap in order to start 'enjoying' the game/grinding for gear. We've always been more about the journey and alts (slowly changing now with incarnates) and XP smoothing means that more than 2 DxP's a year would be overkill.
DxP weekends are like chocolate. Very tasty to be sure but only in moderation. Otherwise you get fat. Same applies here, just substitute burned out for fat. That is why we are against the idea proposed. -
I though Flurry was just like Shadow Maul and Sands of Mu, being a small cone.
I've never taken Flurry so I'm not positive, I just know the animation is the same for all 3 and Shadow Maul and Sands are both cones. I've gotten very adept at lining up 3 targets with sands these days. Just target the one directly behind the one in your face. -
Psst...
That's actually him in his avatar. -
I had a friend that kept a KettleBell by his desk, though not for in between times.
He used it as a punishment for dying because in his words "Debt is a joke and I need some kind of incentive not to die, to play carefully and avoid scrapperlock."
So whenever he would 'die' on any toon, he'd brb the team and quickly do 2 reps of 30. Once we joined a particularly lousy ITF and...
After the 5th death in less than 15 minutes he dropped team and logged for the night. I don't think he 'Punished' himself after that. -
I'd be satisfied if we just had some more Egyptian themed costume pieces. While we're at it, let my bird headed Ra character wear the Eygptian head piece as well.
I was... not pleased when I discovered animal heads couldn't as the only reason I bought the pack was for Ra. -
Ah I see. Having a few more DxP weekends would be fine with me. Though we'd bound to have some complaints about players not being able to play for DxP because of family vacations etc. Such is the internet though.
I also think you may have misunderstood Bill's point. This game is about the journey, not the destination. Up until recently we didn't even have an 'Endgame' in the traditional sense. PLing in this game results in...
Well, since you weren't here for the infamous AE explosion watch this;
AE Babies
Then imagine that guy multiplied by 10,000.
It wasn't pleasant.
After that, it's easy to see how we would react this way when thinking you asked for DxP constant.
Now, major holidays? Sure! -
Quote:Only problem with that is it would have destroyed Fair Haven. Paris created it as an escape to 'a more simple time' far away from the tech and stress the crew was under. The one episode that really turned me against Janeway was the episode where the holodeck malfunctioned and the characters set in 19th century England/Ireland thought the crew were Fey and Janeway was their Queen. She really should have embraced that whole fantasy element but instead told them, computer generated characters, "the truth".
This wasn't a case of Star Fleet regulation or non-interference directive, it's your entertainment. At least Picard embraced his holodeck persona.
It was the open door 24/7 never shutting it off for months that resulted in the glitch to begin with.
Once the glitch started to spread the crew worked like mad to save the program. The original program. As pretending to be magical creatures isn't what this Holo-Novel was constructed for. Add to that the fact that Janeway was falling for one of the characters (I'll agree her role was all over the place, due to various writers and producers) suffice it to say, the crew was very attached to those characters and that setting just the way it was. If they wanted a Holo-Novel to pretend to be Fey they could just make one from scratch. Janeway had her Da Vinci program and Paris had his Capt. Proton program. This was the crews program.
Still, it was a bit of a mini-arc, getting touched on here and there for 3 or 4 episodes before being the main focus for 2. If you hadn't seen Fair Haven's creation and subsequent overuse... If the 1st time you see Fair Haven was the Glitch episode it could leave you asking "What's the big deal just delete the dern thing and start over" When, for them, it was more than just a holodeck simulation. -
Since Blaster secondaries are manipulation based instead of straight up melee based it would have to be a mixed set.
2 straight up melee attacks
1 PBAoE
1 ST immob
Build Up (Aim comes from Primary)
1 buff power
1 Mez attack
Tier 9 power could be either another strong attack or a status effect ala Flash Freeze.
That said, I've been clamoring for a 'Natural' secondary for literal years!
I also fully expect we will get something in the store before this time next year. -
You realize you didn't actually make a suggestion right? You elaborate nicely on Double XP but stop short of actually suggesting anything.
I'm going to go ahead and infer that you are suggesting making DXP permanent. As a way to keep the population pumped up. This would have the exact opposite effect though.
2 months in to DXP all the time and it's now 'standard' XP, combined with the fact that everyone now zooms through the 1-50 like nothing, eliminating 7 years worth of content as they blaze through levels so fast they'll outlevel every arc.
As much as I love DxP weekends, I'm going to have to say this would be a bad thing to do.
Quote:Huh?On a same note, I don't see a problem, as far as folks searching for help, in this game with "powerleveling". That's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Its annoying to group with higher level folks who don't have a clue how to play their toon. Why isn't powerleveling at least visible, or am I just blind? -

Thank you. -
I still think it's a built in handicap to prevent MM's from being gamebreakers. If we did have that level of control over our pets just imagine the possibilities...
Quite simply, they know it's broken, we know they can fix it, they've never acknowledged it as 'A Bug' and it's been this way for so long that it only leaves me with the conclusion it's.
WAI - as far as the Dev's are concerned. -

No Sam, that's Voltr... **googles space thunder kids**

I see what you did there. -
Wow, this works like a charm and is actually fun and challenging as well!
I'd had a concept for Fire/Fire on the backburner for awhile now.
I'm generally in the anti-PL camp but I fall more on the no PL til you learn the nuances 1st mindest than outright oppossed.
I've grown tired of the 1-22 trek. The game starts at SO's for me. So I figured I'd give this a shot and see how mind numbingly boring it could be.
I was shocked to find myself being engaged and on my toes the whole time. I treated it like a 'Proving Ground' danger room scenrario and within 2 hours I was 20, numerous deaths in the learning curve only increased the fun. I exited the AE and trained up, flying off for the tram to get enhancements this hero felt refreshed and ready to take on anything the city could dream up! -
(Guess everyone that said Sept. 1st would've been right) -
For the same reason I can put a piece up for sale at 10 influence and instantly get 100,000 back. 1st time this happened I thought it was a glitch. I figured if I listed it for 100, I'd only get 100 if someone was bidding more, unless they were outbid. (I looked at it like EBay at first was the problem.)

Fun little fact - The Cottage Rule derives it's name from an off hand comment from Castle(iirc) along the lines of;
"We won't alter a power in anyway that changes it entirely. Like taking Build Up and making it build a cottage instead of buff damage."
Thus, the phrase 'Cottage rule' started getting used whenever changes to a power are suggested. -
I can't say I've ever noticed any of those issues.
Only thing that sounds remotely applicable to me would be the insp lag, but that only happens during intense raids for me.
