  1. Other than /Time, /Dark, and /Storm does anyone see any other pairing for Dark/ that has interesting potential?

    SJ/SR Scrapper

Ideon seems to have answered the question for you plenty well enough, but if you want more info on ATOs or just want to discuss them a bit, you might consider placing your question in the Player Question forum.

Or at least posting it in the scrapper forum with a heading akin to 'ATO Question re:SJ/SR' or something like that.
  3. Glad you pointed that out Sailboat...

I'll test it and let ya know.
  4. @OP
Not sure if you're totally settled on a build for your Drow, but if you haven't, you might want to consider Energy Aura. It doesn't play at all like Dark Armour, or obviously, any resist set, but it is very sturdy, has some fun tricks like the energy drain, and the self heal, and the energy aura effects might be able to be coloured to give a better dark effect for while they are active.

    The best?

Seeing the title I was expecting something a lot like your post, but without the humour.. It caused me some small twinge of pained anticipation. I'm glad I threw caution to the wind.

    All 'WIN' sir. Well done.
  7. Anecdotally, I've seen a sharp increase in purple drops lately.

As this is the opposite of the OPs recent experience, I suspect this means.....

    Random is random.
  8. 1) Tyrant (and his whole Praetorian pack of lackeys). So tired of Praetoria. Such promise, then it just got so one-dimensional.

    2) Lord Recluse, again for the 1-dimensionality.

    3) The Circle of Thorns.. Because I can get over their silly new costumes. They looked so cultist chic before, and now they look so clownish.

I think that's it. Otherwise I generally like most of the rest of the NPCs. At least all of them that come to mind. Says good things about the writers in general, that in all the scores of NPCs I can only think of a small group that are just plain irritating.

I tend to agree that that is too much but, demand and what the market will bear and all that....
  10. Well, they could even make it such that you trade in Incarnate Salvage for a Catalyst Token just like what you get from the packs. And the salvage you trade in, could be a Catalyst.

That would at least allow them to be self trade-able, too, so you could use them on the alts that you wanted too.

Edit: Dang, someone beat me too it.

That being said... If Catalysts are dropping in iContent, are ATOs also dropping in iContent? If not, can you do anything else with Catalysts that drop? Seems a bit odd otherwise.
  11. I might also suggest a Corr /Pain.

Or a FF or Sonic Def. Big aoe protection that also has mez protection built in, plus the individual shields. I'd probably choose FF for teaming with a pair of blasters.

Also, the VEATS are pretty solid choices. Big PBAOE +Def, and +Acc and +Dam too. If you pick a melee veat you can help keep aggro off them, too, as needed (but if they are hang back blasters they'd lose the buffs most likely, if they hang too far back). If they Blap, this is the way to go, tho.

I'll second what others have said, tho, too. Emps with decent investment in Fort can be a big game changer. Heck, any def with +Def buffs or -tohit and/or -dam debuffs can really boost a pair of blasters survivability.
  12. To the OP:

    Short Answer: Yes.

Long Version: [censored] yeah! Very much so!
  13. I'd sign up for BS ported to Defs. Heck, leave the set alone as much as possible. Just change the damage scale the debuff scale, etc, and you'd be golden. Swap BU for Aim as needed.

Since I don't think Confront or Taunt would be ported directly to Defs, I'd say may the -recharge still be the same amount (-75%) instead of scaling up to the normal def debuff levels, but instead perhaps increase the duration. I'd lessen the taunt duration on the def version. I'd prolly also keep the Taunt effect single target, like confront, but make the -range part AOE like taunt.

I might change up the power sequence a tad, but might not. But in general, the less changes needed to me made in a port the better. Just make sure to properly adjust the scaling.
  14. I'd not go Katana/EA, but either Kat/Dark or Elec/EA should be a blast to play.

Kat will help dark until you can afford to fully IO it out, so you can focus on resists and end reduction and the heal early, and later build up def. And Kat will build defense and Fury at the same time. And more Fury means the dark armour hurts them more..

Of course, Elec/EA is very nice, too. Easy to cap defense to most everything, limitless end... The more enemies around trying to hit you means more fury and more recharge, which means more attacks and even more Fury which means more often LRs and more giggling at teh destruction per LR.

Both of those are winner combos.

I'm sure you could do Elec/Dark, too and it would be effective.

I'd skip Kat/EA tho, as the Parry is fairly wasted on an EA alt, and Parry is one of the nicer utilities in Kat. I guess if you had a thematic reason to mix Kat and EA it would be OK, but I just wouldn't pick that combo unless I was going for a theme build.
  15. I'll see what I can do to get some results for some of these.
  16. Time on a Def is just plain nasty if well played. A friend of mine has a Time/Beam and I don't think I've even seen him break a sweat on +4/x8. I imagine Time/Fire is equally as ridiculous. But Time/Anything will be very solid.

I personally also enjoy farming with.....

    Elec/EA Scrapper
    Claws/SR Scrapper
    WM/Shield Brute
SoA (so many different builds to choose from here, you can swap builds between map clears for variety)
    Widows (see comment for SoA)

A friend enjoys farming with a Time/Beam Def.

I've seem some Beamer Blasters that can farm quite well, too. I think both Time and Beam are just rock solid sets.

  19. I'd say EA was pretty good before, but it did get better. If you like Def based sets, it's got a lot to offer. You can cap to most everything with not too much effort (obviously Neg and Psi are the exceptions). You get a fast heal that also discounts End costs, so really no need for a Cardiac on this build and E.Drain can help fill your Def fuller still, fill your blue bar, and can provide some sapper style mitigation. The +recharge is great, since you get more of it when you'll likely need it most.

Having fully kitted out SRs, EAs, Shields, and SoAs/Widows, I know my Def-based melee sets. I prefer SR and Shields over EA for the Positional over typed, and Prefer SR a lot for the DDR. But EA holds it own vs SR for the recharge (or even slightly pulls ahead) and beats all the other Def sets on that front. It has a great (if not the best) self-heal in hte field, and frankly has no worries at all over the blue bar.

A totally respectable set in all ways.

I know I repeated a lot of Firespray's points, but the were good points, what can I say. Well, I guess I could have said.... "I agree with this....." ---------->

Against things doing S/L, Fire/Cold, or Energy damage, and that don't do much in the way of defense debuffs, EA is better, due to the heal, and the fact that with a lot of enemies around you the recharge buff from entropic aura is better than the one from quickness.

Against things that do negative, unless you can cap out energy drain (which you won't most of the time), SR has more defense, though the heal and the tiny bit of negative resist probably even things out.

Against psi and toxic damage SR is WAY ahead of EA since most psi/toxic attacks still have a positional component.

And against things that do significant defense debuffs, SR pulls ahead by quite a bit, since it's easy to get 95% DDR at level 50, and EA only gets 50%, meaning it's much more susceptible to cascading defense failure.

That being said, I'm not trying to knock EA, it's a great set now, and I'm very much enjoying it myself. Especially the toggle mez protection. I just don't want people to get a mistaken impression about it.

I think I'm not off base here, but if I am, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I believe that is used to enhance the effectiveness of ATOs. If I recall, it turns the standard ATO into the equivalent of a 'purple' Origin to make the on par with purple IOs.

To put it simply, it upgrades any ATO.

If I'm not sadly mistaken, they are worth a fairly hefty amount at present.
  21. I've been kicking around a rebuild of my BS/WP scrapper, too, and this is where I'm at. Needs a bit of tweaking, yet, but it's pretty solid.

Took confront to force larger numbers into melee faster (as it has the -75% range debuff, same as taunt, according to Mids). 1 Parry from the Lethal and Melee softcap. Well, actually, 1 parry from the lethal iTrial softcap, even. 2 Parries puts you at melee def iTrial softcap. Then the trick is just staying in melee..

    2 Performance Shift +End procs.

Appx 60/hp a sec regen with 1 enemy in range.

I'd definitely go with Musculature and pick up the +end, too, just to be safe. If you do, you could move the end reduction IO slot from Focused Acc to boxing and add the floating slot, there, too, and put 3 Scrapper ATOs and that would put you over the s/l/e/n caps without even having to have parried.

With BS/WP, it's all about Parry/Regen, and getting as many HP as ya can.

Recharge is nice, but with 4 or 5 attacks, and sprinkling in Parry, you'll have a full chain regardless.

It still needs some tweaking, but this should put you on a good start to a very rugged scrapper.

    Staying Alive

Have to almost totally agree with 2dolla....

Don't attack huge groups if you can, and if you must, do so after a melee type or really aggro greedy ranged type has opened..

Build for defense, mostly ranged... AOE is also good. Run away when engaged in melee.

Stealth is awesome. Get it,use it... More the better..

    Oh.. And get [Clarion] ASAP.

That sorta depends on how slow you wanna go, or not go. The differing speeds make that assertion not a slam dunk, as this topic has proved during it's repeated debates in both the scrapper and brute forums...
  24. Well, I'd guess it's because the Shard Rifle doesn't have a bayonet, and thus the bayonet animation doesn't make sense.

Of course, by that logic, it's darned strange some of the models that are allowed for Soldiers.

All that said, I'd whole-heatedly endorse any change that gives the SoA more choices, especially if they'd add a bayonet onto some of the existing skins before importing them.
  25. I love EA, and it's ability to mitigate end consumption is stupid-awesome. I'd recommend it whole-heatedly. That said, I have no interest in, like of, or wish to try more, TW. So I suppose that TW might have some fatal flaw that doesn't play nice with EA, but I doubt it. If TW sucks, it sucks all on it's own merits.

But I doubt that is the case. My dislike of TW is purely thematic.. From what I've seen it's a very viable set, with at most the normal level of weaknesses.. If they don't combo well, I'd suspect it's playstyle. It *may* be play style related, but I'd doubt it..
