    I am crying.

Not crying, no, but the saddest I've been in a very long time.
  2. This is the only MMO I've ever liked. Most likely, I will not be headed to another.
  3. I made a grav/kin since they go together thematically. Woulda done Grav/Time for the whole time and space manipulation thing, but I have enough time on my hands as is.

If you want a hero to not kill, you need to take care to give him powers that aren't imminently lethal. If you DO give him lethal powers but have him only ever use "the blunt edge of the sword," then I'm not going to buy that.

    Hey.

    Rurouni Kenshin was awesome.

But then, that was quite a bit of his character- to never kill, so he used a blade that couldn't cut. Still kicked some *** with it though.
  5. So far I've been fine with never opening Mids. I'm sure I will eventually, but for now I'm good without it.

You know who can destroy the planet?

    Gambit.

Would just take him a while.
  7. I would recommend to you Dech's Mastermind guide, as it's the best I've seen, but I don't think you'd get anything out of it. You'd most likely ignore all of it and proclaim it to be crap and/or a bunch of lies.

Masterminds and Peacebringers are two of my favorites, actually.

    Also Controllers and Warshades.
  9. If it is "thorns", as in they are spiky so when you hit them it hurts, you'd have to do additional coding to keep ranged damage from activating it as well. Though that'd probably be easier than adding the mechanic in the first place.
  10. I realize this is a zombie thread, but: I do agree that Ninja/Time/Mace is absolutely ideal for ninjas. There are few places where I'll say something is "Best" but this is one. If you can't stand ninjas with Time and Mace, you won't be able to stand them at all.
  11. I didn't say all could take out a GM, did I? Except for Bots, which generally can. I said all could take out an even con AV. Without regen debuffs.

There is a difference between AVs and GMs that you appear to be forgetting.
  12. Now I realize, I've been troll'd. No one could possibly be this ignorant without doing it on purpose. Carry on.

i've done it, before the incarnates. believe me it won't work.
damage is pointless as long as AV regenerates and resists more then your pets can deliver.
By "extremely minimal" I mean I spent 200 million on the build tops. There is no doubt he's a powerhouse though. Said character is my main. He solo's on 4x8, he has killed every AV and GM he's ever met (even Lusca). There is no AV that has ever bested him. He is the most powerful character I have. Referring to him as anything short of a Powerhouse is silly. He can attack, buff, heal, debuff, control, tank... even go solo the other half of the map if the group doesn't want to see my pets.

AV's don't regenerate and resist more than your pets deliver. In every MM set I've tried they all do plenty damage to overcome an AV's regen. And Bots can permanently put -1000% regen on a single target. You really do not need more than that for much of anything.
  15. Fortify Pack can be easily perma'd.

Saying they won't be of any use because of a semi-long cooldown is silly. "Farsight has a 240 second cooldown! It's useless!" You saying they won't be of any use is meaningless. As I said, I have a 45 Beast/Sonic and they are very much of use.

Yes, the Fire Demon (forget his name at the moment) has an AoE and ST heal. But he is the only one with heals. And we're also talking about what is widely considered one of the best sets compared to a set that is about average.

Massive amounts of permanent regen, self heals (which the Alpha Wolf has as well) along with nearly hardcapped resistance makes for fairly sturdy pets. Heals are good, AoE heals are a godsend, but just because a set does not have them doesn't make it useless.

Web envelope and web cocoon require taking Mace Mastery, which on a Beast/Sonic is not a given. Also you cannot get them until level 35. Call Hawk is extremely early and really useful.

... In what way is a respec hard to come by? You get dozens from the rewards system and the trials are cakewalks. You even get one for completing the first part of a Patron arc. I'm never without a multitude of respecs to use even on new characters.

The build that forgoes Assault is my Ninja/Time/Mace, who took no personal attacks. I'd love to use Assault, but between Maneuvers, Combat Jumping, Acrobatics, Tactics, Time's Juncture, Scorpion Shield... just can't. And yes, he is FAR above the soft cap without ever touching the fighting pool. 55% to S/L/E. He's Incarnate soft capped with Barrier.

Stealthing missions on my MMs is something I just don't do. So Superspeed is of no use to me. Even on non-MMs I tend to avoid speedrunning TFs/SFs. So I take the power that I prefer: Superjump.

18% damage resistance is only not worth talking about if you think that taking 18% less damage from most attacks is useless, which quite frankly is silly. The point is not whether defense or resistance is more useful, the point is Beasts have both in substantial quantities. That is the point. They are mixed, just ignoring the resistance doesn't make it go away and make them defense based.

    For certain values of "redeemed".
  17. Actually, I've got no problem doing all those things with one, extremely minimal, build. In fact, I only use one build.

And while a Force Field MM probably can't kill a GM (except maybe Bots, with the massive -reg in the Assault Bot's lasers), it can certainly kill an AV. All MM primaries have enough damage to kill an even con AV.

With the whole "Reed Richards vs Luffy" thing... Richards is less rubber and more clay. He stretches his body around without having to apply force. He also doesn't seem to be very elastic, unlike Luffy he doesn't rubberband his fist in order to hit something much harder than normal.

Luffy is much more Rubbery. He has to apply force to stretch himself, and takes advantage of his elasticity in amazing ways. He cannot however morph his hand into a hammer. He can increase the size of various body parts by sucking in air, but he doesn't actually "morph". Unlike Richards who can turn into a ball, or change his body around.

In short: Reed is clay (maybe putty), Luffy is rubber.
  21. No one is saying Sonic is better than Time. What tey are saying is that Beasts are not just defense based, they are both.

And if you get Mace Mastery you don't need tough/weave/boxing at all. Superspeed is optional as well, and I don't have Assault for endurance reasons.

Also you're only getting 5% def from the procs, since there is no plce to slot the recharge intensive one. You do, however, also have the 10-15 (with catalyst)% proc from the mastermind ATO.

And yes, Fortify Pack helps a lot.

The personal attacks for Beast are actually pretty good. The Hawk is really useful for the knockdown and -fly, and the Ravens are good for racking up Pack mentality in early levels. Each stack is a 2% damage boost and the Ravens commonly give 3 to 4 stacks, so that's a good 6-8% damage boost, not to mention the boost to Fortify Pack. For most sets (especially ninjas, mercs, and thugs) the personal attacks are pretty much useless, but in this case they are not.

Yes, Beast/Time would be more sturdy than Beast/Sonic, however, Beast/Sonic can still be good. Most of the Beasts have a self heal, and Fortify Pack gives massive amounts of regen. You can also grab Aid Other. Yes, the lack of an AoE heal is still very noticeable, but it can be worked around.

Though on a less related note, I've always wanted to see something like the Super Seventeen Saga with the Clockwork king where he fuses with all of his alternate world counterparts and, well, becomes one of the few opponents worthy of battling for an incarnate Trial.
And I still say it'd be more like a Voltron than a Super 17.
  23. Given the toughness of an IO'd kheld, I'd go with Diamond Standard personally.

But yes, I agree that SOs are important. I've been playing for almost a year and still don't have enough inf to go full out in IOing stuff. The most expensive thing I've ever done is my 1.5bil ill/rad, and that broke me. I always level with SOs. Eventually I'll probably forego their use entirely, as THB appears to have done. But SOs are cheap and convenient.

So a build based around SOs IS useful, at least until you have the funds (and/or access) for IOs.
