Gravity, solo: good secondary?

I haven't tried out gravity/ since its overhaul, and would like to. The character will mostly solo. What would be a good secondary with it?

I happen to love my Grav/Time controller, but I admit its a concept build. For soloing, I would want a debuff focused secondary. Grav/TA would be high on my list in terms of soloing performance.

Alternatively, if you're into high order mezzing, Grav/Storm has some interesting synergies: you can stack wormhole's disorient on Storm's stuns, and you can do things like wormhole things into a corner and trap them with hurricane.

It kind of depends on what you're aiming for when you solo.

I've got a grav/nature, it's been decent so far but it's still low level so i can't say how well it operates. Still it isn't bad. The splash knockback in propel is actually some very nice mitigation and has saved me more than a few times.

outside of specific synergy with grav itself, a few sets lend themselves especially well to solo'ing, they either have lots of utility or very few "ally only" abilities. /Rad, /Dark, and /time all offer goodies for solo'ing.

I still like Grav/Storm. Especially for solo, there is a ton of synergy. Here are a few reasons why:

Grav is a single-target damage set with weak AoE control. In low levels, I found the lack of any AoE control other than the AoE Immob to be frustrating. But since Crushing Field does not have knockback/knockdown protection, it combines with Freezing Rain to make an Immobile knockdown field. I found that helped get me through the low levels.

Wormhole lets you set up a "corner of doom." Set up Lightning Storm, Tornado, Singy in a corner, then Wormhole in a group and hit them with Freezing Rain, Crushing Field and hold them in the corner with Hurricane. it is not fast, but it is really fun. The combination of damage from three damage pets is pretty awesome. And because Gravity is a ranged single-target set, it is not a problem when Tornado throws things around. Of course, the Overwhelming Force KB-to-KD proc reduces that knock-around.

Plus, you can stack stuns with Wormhole and Thunderclap.

Combine Steamy Mist with Super Speed (or a Stealth IO, but I like Super Speed for the maneuverability) for full invisibility. This lets you lead Singy into a group to draw all of the aggro, then you can back off, protect yourself with Hurricane while you pummel foes one-by-one with GD-Lift-Propel. Singy makes a great tank, almost as good as Phantom Army, especially if you slot both pet Resist procs. I find that this is a key strategy for me . . . let Singy tank while I debuff and pound away on foes.

I found Hurricane to be amazingly useful on my Grav/Storm . . . much more than on any of my other Storm characters (and I have a lot of them). When I aggro a group, I can duck around a corner with Hurricane on. I'll pick out one foe to clobber (at range) with GD-Lift-Propel while Hurricane keeps the others from bothering me with its huge ToHit Debuff and repel. As long as they can't stay far back at range and take pot-shots at me, Hurricane keeps me mostly safe while I take 'em down.

A fun mini-game is playing minion ping-pong with Singy's Repel and your Hurricane.

Other combos you might look at is Grav/TA or Grav/Time, but I really enjoyed my Grav/Storm who played mostly solo.

Not Sonic.

While I quite like Sonic Resonance as a teaming secondary it's limited in solo play when paired with Gravity. Disruption Field paired with Singularity's Repel aura is beyond suck, even if it makes Singy look badass when paired with the other sonic buffs.. Being unable to use your best debuff effectively is pretty crappy.

I'm a fan of /Dark. It has offensive and defensive debuffing, and you can use Howling Twilight to fill in your early level AoE control (somewhat, its long recharge is a tad prohibitive).

Towards the later levels you have strong buffing in Fade and Soul Absorption, and extra control/debuffing/support from Dark Servant.

Another vote for Grav/Dark. Mine is in the 30's now, and it's a blast solo or teamed. (As long as I remember not to troll the team *too* bad with double Phase capability plus Wormhole... LOL)

I made a grav/kin since they go together thematically. Woulda done Grav/Time for the whole time and space manipulation thing, but I have enough time on my hands as is.

Im going to chuck in another vote for Gravity/Storm - Tired Angel, my main, is a Gravity/Storm/Stone and he is a very solid toon.

Since the change to Wormhole so that foes aren't agro'd you can position foes where ever you like and can let rip with your powers (propel, freezing rain, gale, tornado and lightning storm) without causing scatter.

However, anything that will benefit from positioning/grouping foes for debuffs such as Radiation (the toggles), Dark (Tar Patch), Time (Distortion Field, Slowed Response), Dark (Tar Patch), Trick Arrow (the -res powers, oil slick), etc is good as people have already mentioned.
