  1. On the subject of power customization, I'd like to just have "skins" for powers, which do the same thing. For instance:

Fire blast customizations: Acid blast, Nanite blast, Atomic blast (not Radiation, that's different)
  2. Why are people still even posting on this?

    Shapeshifter

I like the idea, but the sheer textload overwhelmed me.

I had an idea like this floating around my brain for a bit. Ka-ninja'd.
  4. The description in the power selection screen would be:

"With this power, you wield a mighty Chainsaw, one of the most powerful (if unwieldly) weapons devised by human hands! This weapon does more damage overall than any other (Scrapper Primary/Brute Primary/Tanker Secondary) power, but is a bit clumsy, giving it a penalty to accuracy and having slow recharge time. (Scrapper's description also reads: This weapon has a bonus to critical hits against enemies lower-level than you.)"

The basic gist is: this powerset does more damage, but can't hit as reliably. Most smart players would slot the powers in this set for accuracy or recharge time than damage, because it has enough damage already. A full-slotted damage CS power would truly be a terrible sight to behold, but also pretty funny, since the player's swinging maybe forty million billion points of damage around, but missing his targets who are sitting two feet away, laughing and throwing peanuts at his head.

Now, this is a PvP situation, to be sure, but in PvE, the recharge times counterbalance the damage. If perfectly accurate, the CS would have maybe a little more DPS than a Broadsword.

    Some sample powers:

Rend - You perform a slash across your enemy's midsection, causing high damage. (Damage: High; Recharge: Moderate)

Rev Up - You give your Chainsaw a rev above your head, providing you and allied characters around you a much-needed morale boost. (+damage, -recharge; Recharge: Long)

Decimate - You go into a frenzy and unload all your destructive energy onto your target. The sheer amount of damage will leave your target stunned, if he is not killed by the attack itself. Using this attack will leave you drained of endurace and unable to recover endurace for a while. (Damade: Superior; Recharge: Very Long)

What do you think? If you don't like the powers, what about the idea behind them?
  5. I've actually never seen anyone on Virtue with more than 300. So, pardon me for thinking that these won't have a high collection rate.
  6. /sign. I've been left out of too much fun stuff because I had no faith in my ability to not screw up the copying process.
  7. I got the name: 100-Yard dash.

    What do you think?
  8. Thanks for the feedback. The buffing is, mainly, both a way of providing some thematics to the struggle between sides, and a way of providing some elbow room to an archenemy caught unawares by his nemesis's strength in numbers.

I still have no idea how we could make it work balancedly. (is that a real word?)
  9. When I said "clones" I didn't mean clones of you. I just meant clones.

    The Invincibles

    Name: Mack-10
    AT: Scrapper
Powers: Broadsword (tech model), Nanite-powered Regeneration, Antigravity flight
    Bio: Article Here

The hero that caught Sundiver, a red robotic figure, knelt at his side.

    "He needs medical attention. Now."

A nearby empath provided obligingly, and the man's eyes cracked open.

"They're... coming... they're..." His eyes shot wide. "HERE." Sundiver pointed shakingly at the robot, and would not speak.

"Wh... who, me? No, no, no. I'm not a 'machine king', whatever that is. I'm a Crey Combat Drone. Name's Mack-10. You don't need to worry." He placed Sundiver in an upright position. "Now, tell us everything about these Kings, mister...?"

    "S-sundiver."
  11. I submit "Animal taming" and "Clones" for the MM primaries.

    That is all.
  12. /sign. I support this idea, simply because it is awesome.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I like the idea though I am not sure how the multiple buffing would really work out in PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In Pvp, the Archenemy gets a buff equal to the number of characters on his AE's team minus how many members are on his team, with a lower limit of zero buffs. (in case your team is larger than your AE's)

This only takes effect during safeguard/mayhem missions. If you meet your AE in a PvP zone, you need a team of similar size and strength to his to combat him.
  14. That was the general idea. PVP, personalized.
  15. I'll assume everyone knows how a leveling pact works.

While pactmates are normally friends IRL, archenemies are more likely to become rivals, at the very least. You type in a friend's character name into a window, and if that character is online, he will be invited to be your archenemy. Archenemies also level together, but there are several differences.

Archenemies are opposed to each other in several ways. Firstly, if your AE (the accepted abbreviation for the remainder of this post) is eligible for a safeguard/mayhem mission, a window will appear reading "<character> is starting a safeguard/mayhem mission. Would you like to try to thwart them?" If yes, you either go into the nearest door, or are teleported to the mission. (This can also apply to certain possible missions, in which, say, you are trying to rescue/kidnap someone, and your archenemy is trying to get to them first) Heroes thwarting villains will appear in front of the vault, in place of the normal generic hero, and be given the option of trying to stop the mayhem the villain will undoubtedly wreak. Villains thwarting heroes will appear in place of the normal generic villain, with a gang of thugs following non-masterminds. If you successfully thwart your AE in a safeguard/mayhem mission, he fails the mission, and you get a single-origin enhancment or a large inspiration. If you fail to thwart your AE in any mission, YOU are kicked and the mission continues as normal.

The AE pact recieves no exp or debt for the defeat of one of the members by another.

On the topic of grouping: If a hero is, say, grouped with 3 other heroes, and his AE decides to thwart him, the AE is buffed to four times his normal power, or perhaps four levels above his normal level, for the duration of the thwarting.

Archenemies may also put aside their differences for a cooperative mission or two (a la GI Joe and COBRA did against drugs), and become an alliance. Allied characters are boosted to one more than their normal level, which means that, yes, we may well have level 51 characters. (All level boosting properties are purely optional at the discretion of the developer. this can be removed. The Alliance, though, i think, is a pretty solid idea)

AE's could also send each other "challenges" somehow over the police band or newspaper. This would occupy a top fourth slot in the radio/paper, saying something along the lines of "<villainname> issues direct challenge to <heroname>! Response unknown." The two would then have it out in an instanced area, with a tug-of-war over glowies or hostages (guarded by PPD and Arachnos, for their respective sides). The winner gets, as before, a single origin enhancement or a large inspiration.

What do you think? All elements are flexible and can be edited. I know this may be hard to code, but it could be worth it.
  16. I don't the last two, that's why they don't make much sense. I think Idea #1 isn't really a vehicle, since it's pretty similar to Super Speed, but I agree on the weapon use issue.

Guess this was a bad idea. Who knew.
  17. I had an idea. I think this may be relatively simple to code, but I could be wrong. If you have two certain powersets, or two certain powers, you could "combine" them to make a new power. Examples:

<ul type="square">[*]Broad Sword -or- Shield + Fly = Sword Board/Shieldboard (you throw the sword/shield on the ground and start hoverboarding with it)[*]Katana/Ninja Blade's Golden Dragonfly + Teleport Foe = Viper Strike (you teleport the enemy and perform GD but with less damage and disorient)[*]Plant control's Fly Trap + Thermal Radiation's Forge = FireBush (you summon a plant monster that can shoot fire and buff your teammates. Cannot exist at the same time as your Fly Trap)[/list]
What do you think about the general idea?

The game's had a lot of graphical tuneups, and the computer that could run it full blast at launch now cannot run it (at an acceptable speed) even with all graphics set to low.

    [/ QUOTE ]

QFT. My comupter used to could run CoX at least at performance level. Now even on minimum it starts to chug.
  19. I think these are alright, balanced additions. I'm the kind of guy who loves the text walls other people TL;DR to.
  20. I personally don't use merits that much (READ: at all), having been given enough influence to buy out the city by a mysterious philanthropist, and I can see where extra slots can burn through that backlog and give a nice reward.

I need a "Vanguard" slot, a "Cimeroran" slot, and a slot for every other unlockable set out there. I can use this.
  21. You've got a point there, Sharker. MA is a bit punishing on soloers, though. And the part about non-canonicity sort of irks me a bit.

    Radiation Melee

Radiation is pretty much an "armor peircer" powerset. I think that we might already have a melee that does that (don't quote me on it though) and in any case, resistance ignorance is more a long-range quality.

    That's just me, though.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Have you run a 'lap' of the Storm Palace ?

Have you run all of the 3 Shard Task forces that keep you at level 50 ?

Do you have your Masters of the STF badge ?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, I'm just looking down the line, when I have done all that stuff. It seems like all you can do at the very end of the endgame is sit on your haunches and manage an SG or rely on job satisfaction to keep you going.

Pretty dreary if you ask me.
  24. I've noticed that the best thing anyone can look forward to at level 50 is Recluse's Victory, or losing several of your hard-earned powers to fight in other PvP zones or TF's, or fighting grays for no reward. Once the novelty of that wears off, you get to... make a new toon in a different AT and start over again.

I'm wondering if we can't get a new lvl 50 zone, to put those powers to good use. Something like more unlockable weapons or some accolade powers or something that feels like progress after you hit the actual end of progress. It would seem to me that playing for playing's sake is pretty hollow, and anything else would be a nice aside.

    Any comments?
