An idea, if nothing more at this point. This may have been mentioned but these are my fresh ideas. Ideas and helpful information welcome. I'll check up on this thread as much as possible. Auto power pool powers will work across all forms (yes you can have stamina). Another bit of information: You can choose a new costume for your shapeshift mode. Example: Weak looking man transforms into super strong looking brute. More info: unless a new type of IO is made, normal damage, acc, ect will apply and Pet IO's for powers.

Agressive Buff (heals/debuffs): Medium
Defensive Buff (armor sets/pools): Medium

As a shapeshifter you can transform into many things. These abilities come at a price however. Every time you shapeshift you are weakened for a short time. You can choose what you change into (within set parameters). You also have light abilities of your choosing which allow you to take some damage and give some out too, albiet not at the strength of any other archtype. Your true nature is to be shapeshifted. You must have gotten an epic archtype to level 50 before choosing this class.

Special power: Stealthy Nature: Self +Stealth +Defense(all)
Shapeshifters are naturally stealthy and hard to hit due to their translucent nature. Your stealth radius and defense are permenantly enhanced. However these abilities cannot be enhanced.

+4000.00% stealth radius (inactive during shapeshift)

Inherent Powers

Level 1: Matter Repulsion: Toggle Self +Jump speed/max height/ distance (same as Super Jump, different animation)

Level 10: Controlled Repulsion: Toggle Self +Jump Speed/Max Height/Distance +Defence (all) (same as Combat Jumping, different animation)

Level 1: Matter Strike: Melee Minor DAM (Energy/Smashing) Foe Weaken

You smash a foe with some shapeshift energy. Most creatures cannot resist this kind of pain and are effectively weakened. Damage: Minor Recharge: Moderate.

I like the concept of shapeshifting because it would be fun to play, and there is a comic book precedent for shapeshifters.

Kheldians, of course, have shapeshifting powers now, and abilities that go with each one. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to implement.

The themes and choices involved would be a blast, I think. And the powers could be explained by almost any origin.

The Devs would have to create:

New Skeletons
New Powers
New Sound Effects


Of those three the first is incredibly time-consuming and difficult. Because when you create a new skeleton you must also create:

Run Animations
Run Diagonal Forward Left Animations
Run Diagonal Forward Right Animations
Strafe Left Animations
Strafe Right Animations
Run Backwards Animations
Run Backwards Diagonal Left Animations
Run Backwards Diagonal Right Animations
Jump Start Animations
Jump Peak Animations
Jump Landing Animations
Flight-Lift-Off Animations
Fly Forward Animations
Fly Forward Diagonal Left Animations
Fly Forward Diagonal Right animations
Fly Strafe Left Animations
Fly Strafe Right Animations
Fly Backwards Animations
Fly Backwards Diagonal Left Animations
Fly Backwards Diagonal Right Animations
Fly Up Animations
Fly Down Animations
Fly Land Animations

Then add the "Switch From Relaxed to Combat Ready" Animation to each of those. And then a Combat Ready version of each of those. And then add a "Switch From Combat Ready to Releaxed" Animation for all of them, as well.

So No. Shapeshifting takes WAY too much effort for way too litle gain right now.

Also. Bumping your threads is against forum rules. Use of the Search function would -also- be useful. As you'd have learned that this is a commonly suggested set which is always responded to with some variation of the information presented above.

Either you didn't read it all or I wasn't clear enough. The shapeshifts will use current costume creation details and existing powers. As for the shapeshift itself that could use a slight variation to kheldian shapeshift. And the rest of the powers could be based off of existing powers.

More the latter than the former, Pyrus, though both were involved, likely.

If you're discussing using the bodies available in game then it might almost be doable. It would simply replace your character model with the appropriate replacement model.

The issue I have here is the body sizes. Currently we have Male, Female, and Huge Male.

So all Females would turn into the Male or Huge model for the Physical Form power?

Also what kind of damage is 'Shapeshift'? Is it a new energy type? Smashing/Lethal?

You would choose the type of model you would turn into when you picked the power, like normal character creation.

And the shapeshift matter is minor energy that is unresistable (look at the powers). All powers while shapeshifted have the same properties as the normal powers they correspond to.

And I think that's too powerful, to have it be unresistable. I realize that it doesn't -seem- like much, but it really is a lot. That and it's hard to explain in Roleplay or from a story perspective.

I am not a forumer so I am not aware of 'Standard Rants'. But if you mean people could pick too powerful of powers there are limitations (such as the teir 1-6 only on elemental, and powers picked for you on the others). Really the major control is over what sets you choose. Also the shapeshift matter attacks have long recharges compared to usefullness which inhibits cheapness.

You made me have a good idea however. I shall add 'Ignores buffs and enhancements' to the unresistable part.

Or maybe not because edit button ran away, just pretend it is there.

All the powers must be designed from the beginning. You can't alter them in any way shape or form because everything is 'baked in'.

So being able to edit your 'Shape Shifted' forms isn't possible with the way the current system works. This is why all Stone Tanks or Brutes look identical in their tier 9 power, even if the character is only 4 feet tall outside of the tier 9. It completely replaces the character model with a static model.

Ok then. How bout you pick all the powers from the beginning (including the +1 from autos) so that isn't an issue.
