Weirdly, even though Praetoria "feels" slower, I found that any alts that can survive the missions decently seem to level much faster.

I agree on the KM bit - even though the animations aren't actually "that long", somehow the look of them makes them feel even longer.

I took a Praetorian KM/Elec to 40, and it was decent, but I just don't like /elec much from a survivability standpoint. I do need a /shield scrapper, so maybe KM/Shield... looking forward to seeing what you can do with it BillZ.

Which tells me that they probably won't get /ice because devs hate changing (and won't remove) powers already in game and won't duplicate powers (IIRC). I *suppose* they could make an /ice without Hibernate but they also don't seem to be fans of doing much work to make powersets different when they proliferate them... and plus, /ice just wouldn't be ice without Hibernate.

Still a chance for brutes at least!

I agree. I wish they would just roll it back to how it was before (except with the rains procing 1/10 or whatever). I found it very useful, but not particularly OP in my aura chars. Heck, I didn't even take reactive on all of them!

I agree on the uptime thing, but it's just like the patron pets... I seriously doubt it's going to change

I disagree on the Core vs. Radial though - they are for different purposes.

With partial core you have a boss and a buffer with NO attacks that CAN die.
With partial radial you have a lt that attacks and a buffer who DOES attack.

I would say they are targeted at different playstyles... someone who wants multiple attacks PLUS buffs (generally someone who can keep the pets alive on their own, like mm, cont, def, etc.) would go for the radial, etc.

I DO think the unkillable buffer should get something extra for T4. Stronger buffs seem to be the simplest thing....

I'm not sure I can see individual pets being particularly unbalanced either, I have 7 different T3 lores and they all feel roughly as powerful/useful. Some moreso in certain situations, but it's not like reactive interface where there is only one choice.

I do think the could stand to be a little bit more durable in incarnate content, like maybe a flat 30-50% resist all or 20-30% defense to the other two positionals? Still, mine don't tend to die much at all in trials, outside of when I died (which I don't do as much when they are up....)

I too hate the AI the pets use, I sometimes find myself fighting to keep them at ranged. When I play my MM it definitely improves my APM, that's for sure.
I thought this was before the current, semi-re-breaking of the pet AI with what, i19 or 20? I could be totally wrong... but it's been a long time since I've seen a dev comment on anything power related, let alone MM related.

    Run-In Bug Fix

What, you don't like all your mercs or bots charging Siege and dying 3 seconds later when you acidentally hit your attack button?

People have ben asking for this change forever.... I would love to see it as well, but devs don't particularly seem to care these days (at least not enough to eve say it's being looked at). Sigh.
  8. Interface definitely works, and even the lame ones are decent on MMs due to ease of stacking.

Spiritual does not affect pet attack rate at all (no buffs should affect this either). It may affect pet recharge rate, but that's never bee an issue for me so I've never looked into it.
  9. Yeah... I'm totally not going to buy that.

Wait, I meant: "buy that 2 or 3 times".
  10. Having neglected mercs for so many years, I finally just decided to go balls out and see how strong I could make one. As I've said elsewhere, I think storm is one of the best pairings for them offense-wise, all things considered (hurricane + the extra 2 pet defense procs in tornado is a huge boon solo, and teamed, esp. in trials, things kind of even out).

So I picked up 1 piece of my 3 merc trio (the other two are /dark & /pain) who had been sitting in his 40s for years, and pushed him to to 50 and started trial grinding him. He has proven pretty good at surviving in the trials - even at +0. I have to admit I was a little surprised. Of course, part of that is basically never telling pets to attack, because 1 second without BG generally = death. Also... the horrible pet->melee ai bug really shows itself in the BAF where accidentally hitting "attack target" with an AV selected generally results in them charging into melee and a full pet wipe seconds later. Basically, I just use the pets for hp sacks in the trials and focus on my debuffs.

Anyway, here's the build I've been using (still missing a few pieces, like the LoTGs & the purples, but that just means it can only get better):

I currently only have T2 judgement & t2 interface, but I should probably have T3 seers tonight.

I focused on recharge (hasten only 8s off perma), the goal being to spam FR, Lightning Storm and, to a lesser degree, Tornado as much as I can. Also, in trials you need to resummon pets...very often, so it helps there too.

I would say that I actually do pretty good damage right now, but most of that is probably FR+Reactive, which I expect to get at least a minor nerf hit soon.

Anyway, does anyone have any feedback as to ways to make this better?

Currently, I'm thinking that the second Numina in Health may get swapped to a Miracle, and maybe stick couple HOs in Spec ops (acc/dam & dam/mez) & Soldiers (acc/dam).

    Not quite.
    Rains are pseudopets.
    Auras are auras.
Pseudopets can have aura-type effects, I think, but the issue here is separate.

Auras worked just fine before the specific fix that changed rains, caltrops, burn patches, etc. (all pseudopets) There were some changes for actual pets as well, but I didn't notice anything wacky there afterwards (beforehand it wasn't quite working right).

You can see that, for me, I had no issues with anything other than an MM.

    * = I am effectively done with them. They have T3 Lore, Destiny & Interface as well as T2-T3 judgement and a few have T4 Destinies. For some characters (like the MM) this meant doing trials more slowly, like 2 a day to stack up emps to merge for rares. For others, like the Dom, I just blew through them and got everything I needed on the way up.

+1 = I started the character in the trials with their T3 alpha & level shift. For others, I acquired the level shift in the process.

One conclusion that I can draw: If you start with your t3 alpha, it should take no more than 20 trial runs for you to get a character to get both Incarnate shifts & an extra t3.

[Providing that you don't get the 10 thread table frequently. I have NEVER gotten the 10 thread table. Ever. I suspect this is because I have a very solid machine & connection and do not ever DC or crash (not once), because I have died & hospitaled many times - gotten commons that way, but it doesn't seem to have pushed me down into 10 threads yet.]

    LAM.....15....26....3.....4.....48

For me, Bafs are much, much better for getting rares & Lams better for commons (...). The VR #s are low enough that I pretty much just ignore them.

I'm looking forward to a final answer from the devs so I know how to plan (or re-plan, as it may be).
  15. I'd have to say that epic/patron pool color customization is at the top of my lists.

So many of my visual concepts are thrown off by the armors... but I'm not going to skip them just because they are ugly, so I wind up playing characters that annoy me to look at.
  16. Just a little update/necro to say that I made this build work. Oh yes.

49% energy/negative defense with hover on means I do pretty well in the trials (50% S/L resist doesn't hurt either!). I was still getting mezzed left and right but just got Clarion Partial Core this morning. Note that, even without a level shift & mez protection, I was able to make it through Lambdas and Bafs generally without dying (but, much of this is just that I've done them a ton now).

It's not the most uber of uber builds, but it IS a lot of fun. I was soloing between 0/4/noboss and 1/6/noboss rikti & council before the clarion. I'll probably bump up to 2/6/bosses tonight and see how that goes.

YES, you can make a more uber blaster that can solo 4/8/bosses. But this one is fun.

Also: I don't have hasten because I wanted Clarion on Auto. You could drop combust, move the slots to burn and throw hasten in if you really wanted hasten in this build.
  17. I've seen a couple reports of mms getting VRs & RS...that's encouraging at least. I'm still working on another MM to run through the trials... I've been doing a corruptor & a blaster lately. Just looking at the #s is depressing:

    ........C....U....R....VR...TOTAL
    BLAST1..1....6....2....2....11
    BRUTE...3....5....4....0....12
    CONT....4....11...3....1....19
    CORR....1....7....1....1....10
    CRAB....1....10...6....1....18
    DOM.....0....9....3....1....13
    MM......13...7....0....0....20
    SCRAP...0....1....1....0....2
    TANK1-B.4....8....2....1....15
    TANK2-V.0....1....4....0....5

Of course, I could have just gotten a string of really rotten luck...but it seems like I'd have more than 1 alt with that issue, right?

    2) Does "Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance" work with SC the same way it works with Stamina?

Physical Perfection works with Heal/End Mod.

    1) Should I focus on Regen or End Mod. for the slots?
    2) Does this power work with the likes of "Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance" and "Numina's Convalescence: Regeneration/Recovery"?

    And a side query:

    1) If I stack same type of inventions together on different powers (like two Performance Shifter, one on SC and the other on PP), would there be double the chance of proccing?
    2) When a set bonus says "improves the Healing of all your powers by X%", does it mean the regen/health bonus such as Physical Perfection and True Grit (Shield Defense) would also improve?
    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.

    1. Both values are pretty low, I usually just throw some procs in there. That said, Numina proc + Numina heal will get you a pretty nice bonus due to the 12% (?) set bonus and the fixed bonus from the proc.
    2. Yep.

    1. Yes. I have 3 perf shifter procs on my axe/wp/energy.
    2. This one I'm not sure of, but based on mids, I don't think heal % bonuses affect regen.

BotZ are worth $$ again? Last I checked they were going for 1 and I've just been destroying them. Ooops!

Also, you made some pretty solid profits off some other pieces (Clouded Senses, Entropics, etc.) I just destroy these days - how long did you let them sit?
  20. And, wouldn't you know it... I just bought some slots on the only account that needs them last week. Oh well, guess I'll get a couple more :P.

WP's main weakness seems to be burst, and Ice Patch does a bit to break up the bursts. IIRC, that's why I went with it.
  22. Has anyone had any luck getting rares & vrs on masterminds yet?

So far, I've taken 9 characters through the trials to varying degrees (6 have both sets of level shifts), and my mastermind has been the only one that I had to "buy" rares with uncommons & emps. Also note that I have run more trials on that same MM than any other alt. Could just a be a continued string of bad luck but, then again, after acknowledging that the issue existed, I didn't see anything about a fix being attempted.

    Some #s:

    Pre-patch:
MM accounted for 17% of all trial drops, 55% of all common drops.

    Post-patch:
MM is 25% of all trial drops, 50% of all common drops.

Thankfully I'm done with that mm (bot/dark, t2 ion judgement, rest are t3) so I won't get any more #s for her... but I'll probably start another soon, maybe nec/dark.
  23. Here's my planned build. Currently level 42 (as mentioned), and nowhere near here, so it will only get better...

I'm still kind of up in the air about the epic stuff, I may take Shiver instead of Ice Blast or Resurgence for some extra taunting. As far as Alpha slots... either muscle (radial paragon for +endmod & -tohit debuff) or spiritual. I'm thinking probably M though, since spiritual only adds 5-10 hps/sec regen, minimal +HP and only cuts half a second off of Frozen Aura with my slotting.

  24. I have a wp/ice sitting at 42ish. He's pretty sturdy - I tanked an all dps ITF on him and did fine, even though enemies pretty much ignore ice patch and I don't have much debuff resist.

He doesn't have capped S/L or anything either... pretty basic build.
  25. Good news, everyone!

    I hope .
