Bronze vs silver rolls
for silver rolls i usually do the same as my merit rolls which is lvl 35-39
for bronze rolls i usually stick to the lower catgories (somewhere in the 20-35 range)

You get rare recipes at a similar ticket-per-recipe rate from Bronze and from Silver, with the added benefit of random uncommon recipes from Bronze (8 to 1 I seem to recall, but don't quote me on this), and Silver includes the completely useless pool B, whereas Bronze does not.

A few of those are quite valuable and all of them are reliably valuable. There are others that drift in and out of value (posi's blast, clouded senses, touch of death, Mako, etc).
So I'll disagree with "completely useless".
Now, I will make a prediction that bronze will out-earn silver by a factor of 5:1 or greater. Enough that it is an inverse of the increased cost. Essentially saying if you made silver rolls cost as low as bronze, and bronze as high as silver that bronze would still be the better choice. So we may be talking a case of Po-tay-toe po-tah-toe here. =)

Any other bets?

Ali, I did a search and didn't find your posts, so I figure the experiment hadn't been done before. Anyway, I'm curious, so I'll do it anyway.
i do bronze 15-19 myself.
I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.
My guess is more like 3:1, assuming 2 mil profit from each bronze and 5 mil for each silver.
Any other bets? ![]() |
Let's assume 1575 tickets, for 3 silver rolls at level 30-34, and 22 bronze rolls in that same range.
At 5m silver, and 3m bronze, that's 15m profit for the silver, and 66m for the bronze for a ratio of 4.4:1.
I am interested to see how this turns out. I'd love to see the gold included too but even with the occasional Luck of the Gambler etc I can't see gold rolls ever working out to be 100x more valuable than an equal number of bronze.

Anecdotal evidence: 5k bronze + 5k silver + 50mil crafting and listing costs has so far returned 200mil, with several items still waiting to sell.

But that's a ridiculous spread you've rolled there, very nice. I keep rolling Pacing of the Turtle quite often. I want that set perma-banned.

Also, you made some pretty solid profits off some other pieces (Clouded Senses, Entropics, etc.) I just destroy these days - how long did you let them sit?
Guides: Dark Armor and IOs | SS/DA | Crabbing | Fortunata
Sadly I think half of those are vendor trash on the recipe side of things.
Aegis Res/Rech is 1-2 Mil
BoTZ are >200 K
Clouded Senses Acc/To hit and GoTA Trip is vendor trash. (60 for sale, zero bids, last five under 100k)
Stupefy is vendor trash, no bids 10k per recipe
Lockdown Acc/Rech has a few bids, but mostly vendor trash, 10,000 - 200k on most of the sales
Decimation and Sovereign Right have 100+ for sale, no bids. Definitely vendor trash.
Call to Arms trip is 1-2 mil which is at least worth listing
Impervium Armor Res/Rech has 30+ for sale with no bids in the 200k range.
Entropic Chaos is the same deal only in the 10k range.
The Aegis Res, LoTG Def/End, Oblit Acc/Rech are your big sells. You could scrounge up a few mill from Call to Arms, Aegis Res/Rech, and the Performance shifter. But that is about it.
The results for how good silver is seems *really* skewed by those numbers, considering most of the stuff you can buy for next to nothing and sell for quite a profit.
Also, you made some pretty solid profits off some other pieces (Clouded Senses, Entropics, etc.) I just destroy these days - how long did you let them sit?

The last IO sold around 5/2, so at most the IOs sat between 1 week to 4 weeks.
According to the modified date of the spreadsheet, Clouded and Entropic had not sold by 4/18. So assuming they sold by 5/1, they sat for 2 weeks.
I thought about tracking when I put it up for sale and when it sold, but...
I'm lazy... _(.-.)_
I also lost some market fees because some IOs dropped in sell value and I had to relist them.
FYI, the bronze 30 sales have topped 400 mil with 20 or so IOs still waiting to be sold. It's looking more like a 2:1 profit between bronze and silver 30 rolls.
Note that most of the silver recipes use rare salvage. So 17 rare salv x 2 mi = 34 mil in craft cost.

I find doing a mix pays off nicely. I usually do 35-39 bronze and silver rolls if I am working on setting out a toon. Bronze sell better and are usually cheaper to craft which results in a much better return on time if you are farming for cash. Since I stockpile about 70% of my 33's (I help out friends and SG mates) I find silvers are nice to have and keep, since they aren't as available, but the bronze in much more profitable.

Some bronze still haven't sold, but since the sales are fairly small, I thought I'd post the data. Except for those under 10k, sale prices are for crafted IOs.

Final infamy: 510,500,192
-seed inf of 100 mil: 410,500,192
Avg profit per bronze: 2,890,846
Unsold: 8,910,000
Final inf + unsold: 419,410,192
1 rare salvage = 540 tix = avg of 2 mil if sold
1 Silver roll = 525 tix
525 tix = 7 bronze 30 rolls
7 Bronze 30 rolls avg profit: 20,235,924
Compare to Avg Profit/Silver roll: 12,198,533
Ratio: 1.65
So for 9999 tix, bronze 30 rolls will bring in 65% more profit if crafted vs silver 30 rolls.
Also note that about 1/3 of my rolls were trash, ie, not worth crafting. My criteria for crafting is that it has to sell for at least 1 mil. A large majority of the bronzes will sell for between 1-5 mil.
Wish I knew how you guys did it, been farming bronze rolls for days, and absolutely nothing I get seems to be worth anything, I've gotten crushing impacts, reactive armors, miracle heals etc etc, and they just sit on the trading house for days and days and I am barely listing them even at 1/10th of the last 5 selling bids (which are usually things sold from a couple of days ago) I might have gotten ONE good recipe in all the rolls I have had and that was a performance shifter chance for endurance, which I kept for my ss/fire brute. The market seems like a fickle beast, I sometimes have recipes where the last few bids would be for millions 15-20+ or more, but currently there are no bidders or sellers for the particular item, and the winning bids would be from up to a week or more ago, and of course when i list, they just seem to take up my selling slots. I admit I'm not good at this, i like knowing what an item sells for (was an ah junkie in wow) and not have to guess all the time. Some of the guides here seem well enough but it feels like in actual practice I'm just messing it up.
I could add a lot to this discussion if one requires ticket data, I cap out quite frequently so if there needs to be any help just ask.
I find myself using silver simply because 3x 9999 Bronze rolls is really too time-tasking when It is simply a side-effect of my runs. Often silver rolls grant me a lot of good quality IO's that are the costlier of the builds.

right, meant to add I do craft them and list them but there is this odd trend (and it was also pointed out in a guide I read) for example, i could have a reactive armor say level 37 and no one will bid on it, but if you look at a level 35, it has tons of bids, same as if you look at a level 40 one Maybe it's gamewide ocd. I dgress, didn't mean to divert the topic, I'd appreciate some pointers in PM if no one minds.
I use silver, not because it is innately better money for tickets spent, but because it is quicker and easier. The time spent on deleting tons of bronzes could be spent playing or farming, and that time is more valuable to me than the inf I could potentially earn by bronzing.

All in all, it was an interesting experiment, but I'll probably stick to doing niches and tips than AE.
I hear some swear by bronze rolls and others stick to silver. So I'm thinking of doing an experiment. I'll cap 2 toons to 9999 tickets and roll 1 toon with bronze and the other with silver. Then I'll craft the useful recipes and sell them.
So I'd like to post a question to everyone. Which level range should I roll in? By default, I'm thinking of rolling lvl 30 bronze and lvl 30 silver.
Thoughts, comments, suggestions, flames? (well, maybe not flames...)
Thanks!
