  1. 19:00 30th April 2010, Steel Canyon, Paragon City, Patches

The apartment of Rachel and Theo Clearwater never looked more like a mess then now. The big oak diner table was placed in the middle of the living room and every local map Theo had of the city was spread on top of it. The window drapes where closed and folders and pictures of local heroes where all over the place. Not that the Clearwaters would mind though… the only mind they where interested at the moment where those they could eat. As both where standing in a corner lifeless wondering what their new mistress was doing.

Elizabeth tried to reconstruct the image of the light map she saw during that brief moment in City Hall. And the red dot that, as far as she knew gave the position of a man (or person) by the name of Blackwind. Those powered police officers… the Paragon City folder named them Superheroes… where convinced he or she would know what was going on.

She looked at a folder of the Freedom Phalanx… “Such colourful costumes… such power… so dangerous.” she said out loud. Her escape was a close call indeed. None of them knew what or who they where dealing with and their idiotically heroic ideals made them put the lives of the crowd first. She looked closely to the images… photographs in colour. Such an invention! She compared the looks with the names and powers mentioned. Statesman, Positron, Synapse, Manticore, Sister Psyche…

The redhead reminded her of someone else she used to know for a short while. Even from her own time ages ago in Venice. Giovanna Scaldi was her name. This mind demoness could do about the same as this Sister Psyche. But their planned alliance back then never came reality.

With these so called heroes in City Hall she couldn’t make use of the Magi library. Not without some danger. Her best bet was on more information from this Blackwind. And now she knew where to find. She pressed her nail through the paper cutting it, then moved in a square around the red dot on the map. Then folded the piece of paper in four and placed it behind her bra.

Opening the drapes and window she looked at the night sky… then turned around to the two zombies in the corner. “You two, follow me but stay out of sight to the living!”, she commanded. “After tonight one other will join us too.” And with that her body seemed to shimmer and transform… into a giant bat. New prey was out!

    Interlude…

The sun was now completely gone. Twilight had passed and the rays of the moon came through a small window at ICON. No one had come into the shop the past day, the weekend had all other employers at home with their family playing games or watching movies. But one had not gotten home… The old man opened his eyes… and the light of the moon reflected in the red of them. He hungered… and felt weak… Still he rose. He remembered his old name… but it was useless now. That man was dead! He would only use the name ‘Shopkeeper’ from now on. And with that thought he walked to the front door of ICON and litterly pulled the door of its hinges.

An alarm sounded but Shopkeeper didn’t care. Instead he looked up listening to a female voice in his head. “Follow me… feed on the way… but stay out of sight!”, he turned and disappeared in the shadows.
  2. Castle Báthory

    6 University Road
    Cap Au Diable
    Etoile Islands

The building stands on walk distance from the Cap Au Diable University. It is an old building adorned with gargoyles. The inside is just fixed up... but hardly used. Aside from guestrooms and lobby. The stairs down go to the main section of operations.

The 'castle' is not build within the building but in fact several layers beneath the ground where we can find crypts, vaults, mage rooms and the works. A large power core powers the labs used by the several scientist who build new monsters, robots or just have fun with bodies. A large main hall connects to a lounge and Elizabeth her private chambers.

The dungeons makes way to sleeping quarters, crypts, and the Sanctum Sanctorum. There is also a huge library, an underground garden and hangar that opens to the coast of the isle. These dungeons are connected to the sewer system of Cap Au Diable and even incorporate an underground Circle of Thorns temple found during the creation of the dungeons.

  3. Congratulations!!!! Good news... Many great years together... and even more fantastic ones...

Would be nice to have this in-game too... but I completly understand you need time to recover from this one first :P

hmm.. and if we do this in-game comic lore demands a big battle. It never fails...
  4. Well.. Managed with three friends... Just too be sure. Dont think I would have done alone. I will try though.

The clones are playing like noobs. And are also respecced that way. The engine will grab powers from youre sets.. but not the same ones. The AI is also not as tricky and the clones will not work as a team.

No tanker minds as the clones don't have pool powers. IThe AE npc's can have fly... but although I have fly... I didnt saw my clones fly. Let alone hover. Or leadership. If they had leadership x8 even our team of 4 would have died miserably.

I would like to see the devs add this to something called a perfect clone though.

    Coh 2001

    What about the easier way...

Give COH 2 as an upgrade to subscribers
Export the complete data of youre toons to the new engine

It is like installing Going rogue or City of Villains from CD/DVD then

This is an MMO with a monthly sub! There is no real need to run two next to each other unless youre afraid of loosing subs because of new specs.

I've been over their character creator dozens upon dozens of times and I can count the pieces I liked on the fingers of one hand. I HATE HATE HATE their chosen art style.

It's not even down to the graphics or the engine, really, so that reflective ball in the display case does little for me. It's the STYLE they've chosen which kills me. Like I said, for the same reason I hate World of Warcraft's graphics while plenty of people keep insisting they're great. I just can't stand that style.

As far as Champions running better, it simply doesn't. Not on any machine I've tried. I've not been able to run it without stuttering me to hell and back, and I can't play like that. I can run City of Heroes just fine and maintain 60 FPS in almost all places, the few FPS holes notwithstanding. Champions Online I can't get more than 30 ANYWHERE. None of the times I've tried.

And then there are the animations. GOD I hate those animations. On almost every single power, every single effect. I don't know if they've changed Martial Arts since I tried it, but the auto-attack I saw simply offended my intelligence. I hate how you carry things over your head like they're made of hollow plastic. I hate all the AWFUL animations while running, I hate the way you travel, I hate the stupid, unresponsive, laggy controls that make me feel like I'm swinging my fists at the air and my enemies get hurt whenever they get around to it.

Up until I get out of character creation, I can stand Champions Online. I don't LIKE it, as I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel for items to make a costume anything less than silly, but I've managed to do that a few times without giving up TOO much concept. But as soon as I set foot into the actual game, it just hurts. Seriously. Last time I tried the game as a favour on a free trial a friend of mine gave me, and the whole time I was fighting an overbearing feeling of "I don't want to do this! I don't want to do this!" There is NOTHING in this game that I like, with the possible exception of eye customization.

Seriously, the Champions Online engine may or may not be good, but I want to hang their artists.
OMG! This is excactly how I feel about CO.

And I bought a lifetime Anyway... haven't been there in 3 months...
  7. Atlas Park, Paragon City

Elizabeth didn’t have any modern currency on her and in full daylight it wouldn’t be smart to draw too much attention… So she walked through the tunnel to wards Atlas Park. The huge concrete buildings and especially the statue of Atlas amazed her. Humanity was still able to make such wondrous things. It still excited her, even after all these years.

The Paragon Police Department had fenced off a good section under the big statue of Atlas and there was a big line forming to the offices. Cabs and buses stopped regularly and the Green line was unusual full with people carrying bags and suitcases.

Not needing to stand in line for a counter she walked up the stairs. A PPD officer stopped looked at her and asked her where she needed to be. “Excuse me miss… You will have to get in the line!”, he said. Obviously a little stressed by the whole event.

“Young man… I just arrived in this beautiful city of yours and only need to use the ladies room for a second. My husband is standing there in line holding our place.”, she answered in the friendliest of tones. Looking back to the line she waved to a random man in line. The man was obviously bored and surprised by having a beautiful woman waving at him. So he waved back. Convinced, the officer let her pass. He waved to the side of the hall. “The ladies room is over there, miss.”

Elizabeth walked in the general direction the man had pointed out but already scanned the place for any signs to where this M.A.G.I. could be. There where offices down the stairs that didn’t have a waiting line. It had to be… A distraction was in order though.

She looked down the line until she saw a child. A young girl she thought. Although the short hair and jeans had Elizabeth almost confusing the girl for a boy. She took down her glasses and stared the girl in the eyes. Sheer panic came over the child, dragging her already stressed out parents with her. She screamed loud enough to draw attention of the whole line… Hell… maybe the whole hall. And at that moment Elizabeth pulled herself to a shady corner of the hall and seemed to disappear in the shadows.

Hidden out of sight she came to the lower area’s where most offices where closed. The signs above one said M.A.G.I. though. A woman was doing research at a desk in there. Next to the M.A.G.I. was an open door and a lot of commotion came from it. Curious Elizabeth walked in and passed the officials unseen. There she found the conference room the mayor and the Freedom Phalanx where using. She peeked through the cracked door just enough to see the projection.

“So to review our situation in short… something pulled this whole city to this unknown place... and we don’t know anything about what happened. But all evidence we have point to this Blackwind knowing more!”, Positron stated. Elizabeth noted the map and the red dot and quickly memorised the layout. She looked around to the different persons in the room. Their strange attire could well be a statement of power. So it was better to stay unseen.

The man in red, white and blue stood up… “I think I would be the best choice to go and make contact with him then Raymond… being able to fly and generally being able to take whatever they throw at me beyond the war walls.”

“Everyone behind the war walls… Everyone beh…”, Suddenly the Sister Psyche stopped. “Wait, there is some mind close that doesn’t belong here!”

Elizabeth realised she was noticed… somehow this red-headed witch was able to scan her by her mind. No shadow meld was protecting her from that. The door was opened with incredible speed by Synapse, guided to the vampire through mind link. “Who are you!”, the speedster yelled out. “your worst nightmare!”, Elizabeth answered and placed the same fear inducing effect upon Synapse as she had done to the little girl in the hall. He let go of her throat only for a second… but that was enough for Elizabeth to turn into mist and float untouchable upstairs.

Statesman readied a bolt of lightning but while Elizabeth passed the hall filled with people panic broke out. People ran over each other… screaming. All trying to get out... or in… or anything. All the thoughts echoed over the hall preventing the already tired out Sister Psyche from stopping the woman in black. Statesman tried to calm the people in the hall. Manticore looked over Psyche. And Synapse was cursing himself for being taken by surprise. But it was too late, Elizabeth was already gone.

The devs told 1-20 is new and starting content in GR. And after 20 you are able to switch sides. BUT... has it occured to anyone that they are not speaking of content beyond lvl 20 in the Praetoria world?!

It might well be there as there is high level Praetoria stuff planned. There might as well be the same amound of content as City of Villains. We presume too much!

  9. The Rise of the Blood Countess
    #3805
    @Elizabeth Bathory

5-mission arc travelling through time. A horror story involving blood, vampires, ghosts and the likes. Some canon content... and challenge... This is not a simple go-in-and-hit arc! And be careful with the reputation settings! I mean it!
  10. Liz Bathory

    Excellent Arcs

I played many well 4-stars arcs I would like to recommend here. But I am at work and can't access their numbers.

its a dragg having the good storylines or challenging arcs being repped down by farmers. In the beta my arc got only 5-stars from every player... then when it went live it got either 5-stars from people who actually played it, or 1 star from people who went in and stepped out! Because of this It is now a 4-star arc.

Recently rewrote it because of the 'finally' double size. A time travelling HORROR story I might even have to label 16+ of the blood and violence in it. Shamelessly plugging it here...

When I get back home I will add a nother 4-star I didn't wrote myself but liked to this list too.
  11. Welcome back!!!! Home is where the heart is... :P
  12. Annoying bug... And already had the prob twice. Will use the ouro trick next time.
  13. 11:52 30th April 2010, Steel Canyon, Paragon City, Patches

In a small family apartment close to the university Elizabeth woke up. The king-size couples bed had relaxed her well and she stretched a bit. Looking out the window she saw that the sun was up over the city, it was time to take some action. She stepped out of the bed and over the drained dead woman lying on the ground to wards the wardrobe. Opening it she was delighted to find a black wide-brimmed hat there. For a second she smiled to the corpse on the ground… “Well Rachel, I see you had some classy taste in clothes.”

Elizabeth grabbed her clothes and the hat and got dressed. She walked over to the living room where Theo was sitting lifeless in his chair. On the table next to him where some folders over Paragon City. She picked them up and read them. They talked about the citizens needing to gather inside the city walls and families inviting and housing their own where and when possible. A danger outside of deadly machines and some sort of police force called ‘the Freedom Phalanx’ giving advice to the mayor.

“…newly arrived without any family in Paragon City should report to the hero licence desk in City Hall which for the duration of this event has been turned into an immigration office. Places to stay will be created for them.

The various offices and resources there, like M.A.G.I. will be closed down until further notice.”

The vampire-witch re-read the last part… magi resources?! They might just have what she would need to get out of this strange place. She looked out of the building window over the street and saw a sign pointing out the direction of Atlas Park. That was the location of City Hall according to this briefing!

But first a bit of house-cleaning…

She looked at the two bodies and started to concentrate waving her hands with stretched fingers. Slowly a dark energy started to surround her lifting up her hair building up power. The tendrils flowed over the floor to the bodies of Theo and Rachel. There it moved into their mouths while Elizabeth muttered some incantation in ancient Latin. Suddenly the two dead bodies started to move. They walked slowly to wards their new mistress and stood there silently waiting for orders.

“What a friendly couple you two are…”, she said. “I don’t have any need of you yet! But that might change later.” With that she grabbed the wide-brimmed hat and put it on. Then she took the keys and Rachel her sunglasses and went out…
  14. This arc shows what we can expect from all arcs in Going Rogue. It has the choices you can make etc. I Loved it!!!

    Now...
    - No Liz didn't High five the hired thug. He maybe a handy guy to have around but she will be damned (even further) then to associate with someone that calls her 'babe' without respect
    - No she didn't save her clone either. If she would want there can be more to make. But she feels she should be unique. Liz is vain and aristocratic. When she next encounters a prefect clone of herself it will prob go into suspended storage to make sure she and her legacy will live on after she got destroyed.
    - Yes Liz robbed the bank. She was there anyway. And she will always do the villain desicion unless there is a manipulative way out. In which the intent will also be evil.

Certainly EU numbers will go back up when GR hits. Personally I've no idea how sustained that increase will be and don't particularly fancy gambling 30 quid on it.
It wouldnt hurt anyone... Maybe it draws people in. Anyway...

The main point is that there are servers in the US that have lesser people on then there are atm on UNION. and if any EU servers where in danger it would be the French and German servers first.

No merge is going to happen!
No servers will be taken down!

I just hope for a combined list of servers and one global for all...
  16. Oh No's!!!

My badgehunter and main is a Necromancer/Dark Miasma/fly

    that would be...
    8x3 zombie horde
    8x2 zombie knights
    8x1 liches
8x1 Twilight grasp, + the liches heals
    8x1 Tar patches
    8x1 Fearsome Stare (stacked)
    8x1 Shadow Fall (stacked)

Now if she also get Howling Twilight... how do I keep them down? And what about Soul Extraction? (> 8x1 Spirits)

    I think I need help
  17. The blood countess almost was kicked out of her chair by the violent shaking of the car. For a moment she remembered how much more comfortable her ride on the Orient Express was when on a trip from the East. She looked around at the people in train with her. Many had suitcases and where obviously prepared for a long time from home. She could read some sort of concern on their faces. It was clear to her that this situation was not normal for the locals either.

She looked firmly back to a female who was extremely interested in the clothing Elizabeth was wearing. But a rather unpleasant look from the vampire killed of a good part of that curiosity. Then she felt magic in the air… and close…

Looking around for the source she found the two heroes in the far back of the car. Some sort of soldier dressed in armour that seemed powered by the wondrous technology of this future. She didn’t understand the workings though… but she could imagine its effect. Was he the local constable? The other controlled mystic fire like it was his birthright. She could feel the power even at this distance. But it wouldn’t be wise to reveal herself. Not yet… she was lucky enough as it was staying out of sight dressed like she was.

It was not the first time she met people or beings possession powers beyond human. But to meet one in a train for a city?! She looked around and noted that most people didn’t even respond to the two men. Even though they where in full sight. The locals seem to be used to sights like this. Doing her best to act as casual as she could she looked out of the window. The dust storm was getting less the closer they came to some sort of energy shielded wall around a city of grey stone and steel. That must be the Paragon City Malcolm spoke off.

A few minutes later they arrived at Steel Canyon Station. Elizabeth her internal clock told her it was at least seven hours from daylight. The station was still busy with people unloading and scattering around to their different hotels and family addresses. But she had other plans. Making sure to stay out of sight of the two possible lawmen she slipped behind the station. In the darkness her body seemed to disappear and a few seconds later a bat flew over the station being amazed by the majestic tall buildings. Then she saw what she was looking for… Not far from the station, across the water… there was what looked to her as a clothing shop. It had windows displaying several colourful outfits and in large the word ‘ICON’ above the door.

The store was closed of course… but that wouldn’t stop a vampire. Along the back the bat that was Elizabeth started to shimmer and became as the misty night-air. The mists streamed into a small gap left by a window that wouldn’t completely managed to close. A few seconds later it began to reshape itself again next to rows and rows of clothing.

Elizabeth looked around for size and what would seem the best to blend in grabbing a suitcase from the shelves while she was at it. There was a lot of brightly coloured stuff… and some stretch material she didn’t like at all. But between all that she found a nice black dress not too far out of style from the women in the train. She also grabbed a long black coat and some shoes. Quickly she dressed herself. She let her long dark hair fall down and placed her old gown, hat and shoes in the suitcase.

The gown was from 1891 and had therefore a mystical link to her original time and space. There where spells that could trace that link and bring her back. But she would need her library for that. Some research had to be done before she would manage to create such an incantation. Then she heard footsteps in the back, and a beam of light came her way!

The old shopkeeper had been in the city of Heroes all his life. John Porter was his name, and hero clothing was his game. He always was the last to leave these days. All the young men and women of ICON thought him a bit weird. But he knew what the right outfit meant for a hero. And while everyone had left, he stayed finishing the new dust protecting clothes some had ordered. This weird place the city was in… Still he was done and it was time to go.

He walked to the storage to place the order on the right shelve. The bundle of clothes in one hand and his flashlight in the other. Then he saw some piercing red eyes in front of him… followed by a sudden pain in his neck from a bite. While his eyesight slowly dimmed away he saw this beautiful woman sitting next to him making a cut in her arm. The red blood streamed out while she placed it upon his lips.

“Drink Shopkeeper, drink… and be the first of my legion in this strange place.”, was the last words his living ears heard.
  18. I expect even more for Going Rogue...

What about a permanent way to transfer from US to EU and obtain the passport badge? Only one way transfer. It doesnt cost a lot and it will give people to ability to do just that.

Will not make much difference but at least a few will do it.

I have over 4 years invested in my toons and my SG. I build a huge base (several) and am immersed in teh rp on UNION. I am not moving my main anywhere!!!

But if the list was combined I would try out other servers with alts. Or start new ones on another english server. I would advice the good community whenever I would be in teams with idiots.. to the few with half a brain in the team. And people would not only leave but a few would also be curious and want to take a look at Union.

Eventually the whole thing will reach a balance. Union will end up with about the same population as Champions I guess... But the whole game would be better for it.

I hate to say it, but CO has more character costume options than COH, not even counting CO's for pay ones. (and if you add in those vs COH's, it's really no contest).
Having tried to re-create COX costumes on CO I can honestly say that that is NOT true.

The options give a left and right seperate system. But that is about the only thing that is better. The options are different... but not better.

Just add a lot of the options idea's to COH and figure out to make left and right seperate of each other.

Arc combining because of part 1 and 2 now can...

I was empty on my main before the weekend and done the new arcs only
  21. Suraya did her best to keep her smile up. But it was obvious she was not happy with the remark of the woman.

"We do a lot of good Alicia... In time you might like it. I have to open the store but I can walk and talk a bit. Lead the way and tell me all about you!"
  22. 23th August 1891, New England, Rhode Island

A cool breeze was blowing through the streets. Already the sun had set and a lone woman could be seen walking out of a dark alley. Her dress didn’t fit a woman you would usually see in the back alleys of Rhode Island… It was an expensive dark red ensemble with a parasol in the same colour. Her name was Elizabeth Báthory.

For a moment she stopped and looked back. Some blood could be seen flowing over the street from the alley she had just left. She smiled and pulled a handkerchief out of her small purse. Softly she cleaned the corners of her lips with it… a well observant person would be able to see some hint of extraordinary developed canines. Elizabeth was a vampire and she had been living in the Rhode Islands for 2 years now. Hiding among the gullible high society. The gentleman in the alley was her latest escort.

She looked up at the moon while suddenly all went hazy in front of her eyes. Before she could even attempt one of her more powerful spells she felt herself being transferred… a dimensional portal of some sort! And indeed it was… The Builders thread had hit her spot on!

29th April 2010, a lone corner in Croatao, Patches

Elizabeth opened her eyes… She was lying on the floor looking towards what seemed to be some sort of country bar. Her blood red eyes flamed with anger. She never did like surprises… and this was a big one. The place was surely different.

“Excuse me miss… may I help you up?!”, a male voice said.”

She looked up and saw a young man standing next to her. Immediately she regained her posture and reached out her hand to him. “But of course sir… I must have stumbled. How silly of me!”

“No problem at all ma’am.”, he said while helping her up. “My name is Malcolm, please to meet ya!”

Elizabeth looked at him trying to judge what kind of person he was… “Elizabeth…”. She tried to remove some of the dirt of her dress. He was strangely dressed to her. But human at least. So she didn’t end up in some sort of mystical dimension. At least not on first sight.

“Are you going to a masked ball or somewha’…”, Malcom said trying to form a conversation. “That is some pretty old fashioned dress you have there sweetheart!”

On the word ‘sweetheart’ Elizabeth had to swallow for a second. Her head was now far from being treated like a toy. But she needed information. So the guy was luck… this time... hmm… time might be the right word. “Ah… yes… I should be there before twelve for the big blow out. I took a wrong turn somewhere.” Her eyes met his and pierced through his skull. “I need to get to the city!”

Malcolm his eyes drifted up from her chest to meet her blood red eyes. Captivated he was staring in them… Answering without any free thought. “You must mean Paragon City… it is over there. Let me take you to the metro station!”

“Metro station? You mean like a train? Yes! Take me there… I need to go to the City!”, Elizabeth grabbed his arm and let him direct her. “Malcolm… what is the day?”, a strange question. But the man was too captivated to think much of it.

“The 29th of April of course… Have you been drinking before the party began miss?”, he smiled to her.

Elizabeth smiled back while they entered the station. “Year?!”, she commanded while she watched the train stop.

Malcolm gave her a train ticket while hardly leaving his eyes of her. “2010 miss Elizabeth… Do you have to leave me already?”

Elizabeth eyes widen with surprise… 2010! She has not only crossed space… but time as well… Over a century of time even. First thing she would have to find a way to blend in. Then she had to direct her powers to wards finding a way back. “Yes I have Malcolm… Thank you for your help.” She stepped into the doors of the train… “Oh… and Malcolm… you never saw me!”

And while the train left the Croatao station for Steel Canyon a very confused young man was staring to the sky wondering what he was doing.

    ---
((And so a vampire comes to Patches... looking for a way back home.))

Or made them ignore obvious things etc. It is like influencing subconcious things. Although a complete non attractiveness helps to strenghten resistance ofcourse.

Any way... this is going off topic. So I will shut up here
