Already in use means someone else grabbed it. Unlikely but not impossible. Unavailable means a name is being blocked by the Devs. It could be that an in game NPC already has the name or that it is blocked for legal reasons.
To the OP, I have seen dozens of characters named after songs or lines from songs. I have a handful of them myself. I do not believe your choice is blocked due to it being from a song title.
If you had the name and just deleted the character and remade and within minutes the name was taken or not available, it seems much more likely that there was a momentary glitch. Have you tried it again? -
Single Egyptian Female Looking for love....oh wait, no that's not right. Scratch that! lets start again. I have a character by the name of Sphinxess on Blueside and I'm hoping that I can extend a branch out to other roleplayers and get a few bites. She is or was a deceased Egyptian Priestess and I'm looking for someone or even a group who wouldn't mind being tied into her story or tying her into there's by the way of being the ones who brought her back to life. Amutet(Sphinxess) was a priestess to Isis who was sacrificed by her fellow priests to the god Horus for favor. After death Anubis took pity and granted her the power to kill her murderers, being that she was already dead it created a myth that Amutet would come for betrayers. Obviously many many many years passed and now a single person or a group of people have brought her back for whatever reason. if heroes then perhaps to help protect their city or if villains maybe to use her for some master plan and you have now become enemies..i'm open to suggestion
uhm so yeah, would anyone be willing to maybe fill this spot...or spots? -

I wonder what kind of deal NC made with Marvel et al. Seriously. Marvel did not create the name Apocalypse or many of the other names we can't use. Yet somehow they have been given the sole right to the name. As if. If we make a toon that looks like the namesake with similar powers then, by all means, gen. us; but this agreement has them just laying the smack down on us!
Maybe I should start doing that. I think if you're character doesnt look, act or have the same powers than it shouldn't get generic'd. This is just a little silly. I even tried on Exalted but Rockin Robin isn't available. I can get Rockin' Robin so I might just go with that.. -
Well that is just...crap. I suppose it could be copyright by the name of the song Rockin Robin but I mean if that were the case so many names wouldn't be available...

I personally agree with Pagan. My account is only 1yr and 9 months because I have come and gone from the game but if they made it were we could have multiple characters with the same name I don't think I'd play any more.
I mean it might not seem like a huge deal to some, but to me, I like having my unique name. I have never ran into someone who has the same name but spelled differently or spelt incorrectly and I like it. It would take a lot out of the game for me if someone else had my name. My character would no longer be special, no longer unique. -
So I Deleted my Rockin Robin character to remake her into a hero instead of praetorian like she was, now the name is no longer available. I figured perhaps someone picked it up(which i find kind of unlikely) but when i search ingame nothing came up.
....What the heck happened? -

Well I have War Sibyl who is a DP/Mental Blaster. She was originally in the army and one of the few women who were selected for the Sibyl Project. It was experimentation to try and grant normal women the ability to see into the future, to judge a battlefield and see what would happen before it happened. War Sibyl was the only successful candidate but due to the manipulation of brain cells she awoke in a hyper aggressive state and killed all those around her. She was hunted by the army for a short while before she disappeared off the face of the earth. Some time later a Merc. going by the name War Sibyl emerged and began working for whatever crook would pay her enough. She likes to shoot things, she likes her whisky, she hates offical/authority types and tends to have a bit of an sarcastic attitude.
Would she work? -

I've been wanting to make a steampunk character but I personally just haven't seen many around and feel as though it wouldnt quite mesh with other heroes as much as it would with fellow steampunk RPers. If there happens to be a secret horde of steampunk themed rp characters hiding somewhere i would love to know..it might entice me to get off my lazy butt(figuratively) and finally make one.
