Most everyone here knows John Becaro, he's an amazing artist and an even better person. He's great to work with and has drawn dozens of amazing CoH/V characters.
Almost 10 months ago we started on a journey to draw what we first conceptualized as an "Epic War" picture using members of our supergroup and villaingroup, Legion of Valor and Fallen Legion.
Here is the inked lineart.
Now we're hosting a coloring contest. Check it out in John's dA journal here: Legion of Valor Epic Battle - Coloring Contest
John has all the rules and explains the contest in his journal at that link. Prizes are as follows:
1st Place - $100
2nd Place - $75
3rd Place - $30
-Plus unspecified special awards for participants.

Edit: Added Reference Shot link -
We're working on the colors right now, John has some good, out of the box ideas for coloring this that I am pretty excited about.

Legion of Valor's Epic Battle by John Becaro
This project has been a long time coming and we finally have the inks done! This is one of the largest and most detail intense battle scenes I've ever seen drawn and I couldn't be happier to be a part of it!
Featured are heroes of Legion of Valor (Victory Server) and its sister group, the villains of Fallen Legion (also Victory). Most characters are battling their evil alter-egos while other heroes are battling their arch-nemeses.
I think John did an amazing job on this, it took a while, but he was always quick to answer my emails and work with me. I'd recommend him to anyone for commission work.
This picture also captures something else that's happened to Legion of Valor in recent years, we're full of art-skanks now! Several members of LoV have vast art collections. We also are proud to have several amazing artists in our ranks.
Thanks for making this art possible, LoV!
(shameless plug: Check out the link in my signature if you'd like to know more about Legion of Valor!) -
Also, if you haven't checked out Rhardo's page, linked in the first post, he has some original superhero characters of his own that are quite cool, check em out.
-
No clue, you might send him a note to find out though.

Yeah, I think he was doing it as a promotion to get some traffic to his page, I was very lucky to catch a spot in the freebie line

Hiya everyone! I have a new, amazing piece of Lightslinger art by an artist fairly new to deviantart.com, check out his page here!
Lightslinger by rhardo
I LOVE this, the cape, the aura, the background, the colors, everything! One of my new favorites in my gallery. Hope y'all enjoy it. -
Whoa, this is one of your best yet, LJ, excellent work!
-
Whoa, this is great, ::goes to work on Lightslinger::

I use the word awesome way to much, but seriously, that awesome as in awe inspiring, congrats!
-
My favorite is probably Tin Machine, excellent stable of characters Spino!

I personally think tastefully done Billboards will actually make the city feel more real and immersive. Real cities have billboards advertising products, now so do we.
Speaking for myself, I'll have the ads enabled. -
April Fools or not, if this were a feature I could turn on and off I would sooooo /sign this. Awesome!
WABAPP! -
Very nice, I can't wait to see what some of the Costume Sets look like. Maybe some free costumes for i12, hmm?

I started playing this game not long after it launched. It wasn't just my first time playing CoH, it was my first time playing a MMO at all. I ran around confused for the most part of a week, somehow managed to get a hero to level 6 then quit basically deciding this game just wasn't for me.
Then a few months later I got the idea for a new hero, I found a good SG through some google searches and restarted the game as a member of Legion of Valor. The game experience with a bunch of helpful people in my SG was totally different. Anytime I had a question I just asked, they offered to teach me a lot, and I'm still here.
So the part of the equation every new player needs: A good SG. -
Amazing work, Doug, you said you struggled with WW, but she turned out one of the best looking heroes in the lot!
-
Very nice to see an action shot with your style, Juggy! I especially like the vividly detailed background, excellent work!

Lightslinger & Ultrazephyr by John Becaro
This picture features my main hero, Lightslinger, and a friend of mine's electric/energy blaster Ultrazephyr. John did an amazing job with this and I'd recommend him to anyone seeking a commission. -

Those I really good, as much as I like a good costume, I love a good costume with a good story! Excellent work.

Wow...this year is going to boost CoH/V so much, we're definitely going to be needing that new server tech for all the newcomers. Excellent work and thanks for the news, LH.
