Good luck and you may be back - the monthly subscription tends to work out at something ludicrously low per hour compared to pretty much every other form of entertainment on the planet and as for the time aspect? Tie a sausage round their neck and let the dog play with them. Never did my anklebiters any harm...

Compared to previous raids I've been on, this is simply not the case. I counted a grand total of 1 speed boost (it is targeted, so not that surprising) and 3 AM on me during the holding phase ... previous raids I've had 10+.
There were never more than 80 people in the Hive at any point during the raid, less than 60 by the end... unless it is an SG run raid with specific builds, I don't think that is enough (anymore, I know about the 24 RAD defenders etc.).
ED has had an effect (I don't think it was the total cause for this raid failure) but I do think using the old technique will require roughly 40%* more controllers than it used to ... meaning even more lag... so ultimately, ED may have invalidated this technique.
*Back of [censored] packet. Need to reach e.g. mag 300/second. Each troller puts out 1/s with no enhancement. 6xHold = +200% pre-ed = 3/s = 100 trollers ftw. With ED, 3xHold =~ +100% = 200/s, requiring 50% more = 150 trollers. I've dropped it a little as not everybody remembers (or has time) to six slot pre-raid. Note I don't know if this is how to calculate trollers to hami, it is right up there with 'Pirates vs. Global Warming' -
I have to agree with MaXimillion. In Beta, I rolled a Brute .... and the first thing I did on release was roll a /kinetics, on the basis that they are going to be very popular. Melee based heal, siphon power, speed boost ... fulcrum shift at the end.

I always try to fit this power in when I can, even if it is at 49 (that's for the PvP build where I take CJ,SJ,acrobatics) - always a lot of fun to go over to atlas and drop it on the lvl 2ers... -

Well, it took a whole 1 hr 30 minutes... if we hadn't spent that time arguing over who got to solo the "leftover" AVs we could have done it in less.

I'm guessing you solo corruptors a lot, and/or haven't reached high levels yet. I say that because.
A fire/dark corruptor (for example) really is impressive (even at low levels), unless you run into one of the fire resistant mobs. This is one of the few corruptor builds that feels impressive out of the box (in my limited experience).
you need both primary and secondary slotted up to really see some corruptors shine. Most corruptor builds seem to fall into this category.
On a large team (not all corruptors) you tend to spend most of your time cycling through looking for the mobs on low health. One blast = scourge = defeated.
People start to notice 7 in 8 'defeats' on team are attributed to you and accuse you of being a 'goal hanger' (or worse).
Honestly, large teams with only one corruptor in, you really begin to see the point of the AT. Soloing, it is a substandard blaster with a much nicer secondary. -

Necromancy (MM)/Kinetics (Def/Corruptor),
because Kinetics works really well in melee, which is where Necro seems to spend their time - plus through upgrades you get some controller like abilities as well.
Undead on Crack for T3h W1n!
failing that Robot/Dark would probably be fairly horrific as well ... hang on .... -

Here's a build I've been playing about with.
I'm not all that familiar with Mind Control or Energy so comments welcome. I've tried to make it viable for PvP and PvE. The one thing I'm not happy with is the long gap between having 3 attacks and having more - 20 levels. I could get round it by taking another attack at 12 (and respec out later), but I think this build will need to team fairly aggresively to start with.
Comments/thoughts appreciated. I know I've taken the group sleep instead of the group hold, but there is a good reason for that (much faster recharge). A sleep is as good as a hold while soloing and resisted by less in PvP (?). Plus most matches I've been in involve targeting the squishy while avioding the big guns - this would help there.

Not sure, but pretty certain transfusion does - people often ask me why my Kinetic defender is spamming heals vs an AV/GM... you stop doing it and watch their health crawl back up.... siphon power is worth spamming in its own right.

Most mind attacks have a massive bonus to accuracy. Most linetics powers don't. I'd expect to see a disparity in hitting between the two because of this, unless you plan on x2 ACC SOs + Leadership, in which case most things will have a 5% chance of missing.

Perception (either through tactics or an inspiration) and the repel power. -

I'd say decide early on if you want PvP or PvP and single target or AoE.
There isn't really a bad power in the rad set - even choking cloud has its uses(now) and is suitably villainous. The two main debuffs are much more useful in PvE than PvP and also for AoE...
Fire I tend to go AoE - skip flares, it is pants.
Once you have a slow (lingering rad in your case) Slow+rain of fire + fireball + fire breath = silly. Make friends with a dominator with a decent AoE immobilise/hold for extra evil. I always used to skip Rain of Fire in CoH as it normally just splits mobs up. Coupled with a decent hold/slow, it is pure unmitigated evil. The teamwork it used to require was a pain, but since corruptors provide both sides of the equation...
You will learn to hate the few mobs with massive fire resists, as you dont have another damage type to hit them with.... slot brawl or pick up one other attack (Air Sup/Jump Kick is good for this).
and Joe Chott's hero planner also does villains... -
One point I really like about mind/energy is that you have different damage types, so you are unlikely to run into the old "Fire/Fire blaster meets infernal" type scenario you can run into with mind/psi (unlikely, but possible). Plus slightly better for PvE (I'd have thought).
I've often wondered what would happen to PvP if they released a 'psychic armour' set, with S/L/Psi as main resist types....
