Mind/Energy Dominator?

See i've heard and think that a Dominator is a good choice if you want to be a decent PvPer and a decent PvE i think this maybe the right character for me, put i need some advice...

As in the title, I'am thinking of going for a Mind/Ene Dominator, is that any good? how is that combination?
Will i be able to some dmg and maybe put enemys to sleep and stuff and make them attack their on? almost like the Controller from the Hero Side?
And please just come with tips, i appricate everything =)

I play a Mind/Energy as my main. Mind might not have the upfront control of the other sets, but it makes up for it in utility, this especially comes into play in pvp. Energy is a good damage set and that knockback element can aid in control.

I would say on the whole it is a good combination, maybe a little harder than some of the other Dominators, but is rewarded by being a good allrounder and good for pvp play as already mentioned.

Tips: Learn to love your sleeps (and try to play in teams that understand them aswell), with proper target switching and agro control you will only ever have to fight 1 mob at a time.

Save domination until you run out of end if you possibly can, with a bit of luck it can eliminate downtime, at worst you can go, use end>domination>use end>rest>repeat, makes for some very fast leveling early on even solo.

Confuse is a very useful PvE power if used wisely, and I think will drive MM's up the wall when you turn their nice pets against them in PvP combined with next thing it should be awesome

Energy gets power boost, giving a massive boost to all control aspects. Domination+Power Boost will rock

I started on of these while my main was "logging off, try again in a few seconds" last night.

Pure unadulterated fun. Great for PvP and PvE, with a horrendous number of attack powers. Love it.

Between this, Robotics/Traps and my corruptor, not sure I'm ever going to settle on a main... something I didn't find difficult at all in CoH.

I've started one myself (love confusion) and jus found a few niggles.

1. As soon as you use a sleep someone lets rip with an aoe.
2. As soon as you confuse a foe the entire team targets him.
3. Plants get a mass confuse at 8, we have to wait to 32.

So in a team I just work like a mini blaster at the mo. Not much about that is resistant to psych and energy.

Very good choice for soloing where sleeps are more use. I'm hoping there will be a little tweak to make mind a better choice compared to plant in the future.

Those keep in mind that the Plant AoE confuse, creates aggro for the Dominator player, where Mass Confusion does not.

Or so I am lead to believe

I've played some with my Dominator now, only lvl 5 but its great fun
Mind/Ene is really cool, and i can't wait to get even higher and get even more powerful skills.
But one thing, dose anyone know of a good slotting guide? because i'am feeling like i don't know where to slot, and so far i've just slotted where i feel it may be good...
And since there is no slotting/skill Planner out for CoV? yet i'am having a hard time to choose..

Oh thank god for that. I thought we were getting screwed.

Most of the AoE stuff either comes very late in the set or is very situational. For the lower part of the game with energy for backup you will be entirely single target, which means lots of switching targets and careful agro control, without snares this can be a pain until you have everything locked down. Knockback isn't something you can rely on to save your life either. Like most of the build itself, it's strength's are in it's utility I reckon, the ability to be more of a blaster or a sit at the back and lock everything down controller is nice.

So no Mind isn't weak at control at all, if you notice what I did say I said upfront control...
...Mind gets its good control later, with no pets, some people dont like confuse being used even now, sleeps are not true holds, telekinesis is good yes but it eats endurance faster than anything and has very limited use below SO level in this build.

The Joe Chott one has been out since beta - recently updated and seems to have everything on it. I think this is the one

I would of siad Mind/Psy would be good for pvp as your attacks are psy damage.

One point I really like about mind/energy is that you have different damage types, so you are unlikely to run into the old "Fire/Fire blaster meets infernal" type scenario you can run into with mind/psi (unlikely, but possible). Plus slightly better for PvE (I'd have thought).

I've often wondered what would happen to PvP if they released a 'psychic armour' set, with S/L/Psi as main resist types....

Mind/Anything will be very powerful in PvP. Just lob Telekinesis on someone and blast away for the win. Theres a handful of ways out of it, but none of them will leave you open to attack.

Here's a build I've been playing about with.

I'm not all that familiar with Mind Control or Energy so comments welcome. I've tried to make it viable for PvP and PvE. The one thing I'm not happy with is the long gap between having 3 attacks and having more - 20 levels. I could get round it by taking another attack at 12 (and respec out later), but I think this build will need to team fairly aggresively to start with.

Comments/thoughts appreciated. I know I've taken the group sleep instead of the group hold, but there is a good reason for that (much faster recharge). A sleep is as good as a hold while soloing and resisted by less in PvP (?). Plus most matches I've been in involve targeting the squishy while avioding the big guns - this would help there.
