You do understand that when there is a 2nd or 3rd Atlas, those zones are JUST LIKE the difference between Atlas Park and King's Row, except that they happen to look the same?
The game servers create a new copy of a zone whenever it nears capacity. It get's all it's own resources, and is only connected to the other version of the zone in the ways all other zones are, through chat channels and transit points.
What you are calling "lag" or Atlas being too busy, really sounds like problems with your own machine, and not the game. The price of shiny new zones is the shiny new graphics don't always work as well for some people. The problems you're describing sound EXACTLY like that, since for the most part, they're not being experienced by everyone (or even a lot of everyone). -

To get back to the question, most added enemy groups were put in in bunches, at the times you would probably expect. Nearly a dozen each in CoV and Praetoria. From there, some of those groups slowly propagate to Paragon or Primal Earth, when later revamps are done to zones, or missions added.
The only other real additions I can think of were Croatoa (Issue 5), Cimerora, and RWZ. There are other obscure enemy groups like Unseelie and Winter Lords which only show up during Holiday events. -
Quote:Considering that's who they have time and again said they made AE for, and not as an XP machine, there's really nothing for farmers to complain about.Well sure. To be fair, though, telling a story is the minority of the demographics that use AE. At least, it seems that way.
If the storytellers are a minority, it's not because of the system, it's because farmers descended on the glaring loopholes like ravening locusts, and made inhabiting the same gamespace difficult if not impossible.
When my girlfriend and I tried to make an AE only supergroup after it was added, it quickly became very difficult to find fun arcs for our groups to run, and additional teammates because people who hung out at the AE were always looking for farms. -
Quote:Depends on how you define paid for. Personally I look at slots as part of the $15 monthly fee for access. Not paying the fee? Used to be you got zero access. Now you get some.I actually consider the slots thing a blatant rip off. You're meant to keep what you paid for, right? Well, the original CoH came with 10 slots, so why don't you keep those 10, huh?
Then CoV came with 2, GR with another 2, that means if you bought all three of those there should be 14 slots as a basic minimum when you drop to Premium.
So basically, they lied when they said you keep what you paid for.
No one lied to you, you just made some misguided assumptions based on admittedly vague information. -
Quote:I for one, am happy to have trials delayed if it means changes to make them better. Dealing with a barely ready for primetime Keyes and all the ******** and non desire to run it that came with that, was a chore. It doesn't serve their efforts to release trials that aren't fully balanced and something people can enjoy. Trials that are too long and tedious piss people off, and waiting a couple months to see it fixed is not good, because it sets up a ton of preconceived notions that people then have to fight in order to get the inevitable revamps to be looked at with something other than scorn by players.Media Blitz launching without Media Blitz? Epic fail if true.
Delay Media Blitz. Delay Mother Mayhem. Get them right. I'll be happy running Keyes with people who never got a chance to see it and can enjoy it now. I'll get my badges, I'll get drops I can use on shiny new powers, and I'll have a great weekend. -

Quote:Two things:Smart *** comments are the reason I don't post very often. Let me explain a couple of things, I'm a 60 year old retired man so the opinions of people I think of as children don't really matter a lot to me. I've been here as long as any of you whether I've been posting or not and my opinions and concerns are as valid as anyone here's. If you wish to impress someone with your wit go play with your peers and go mock someone else kid. Oh yeah, save the get off my lawn comments too.
This game is basically my hobby and it upsets me when I can't play. I'm well aware of the maintenence schedule and all of the stated caveats about downtime. It doesn't lessen the impact it has on me and if I wish to vent about it I will.
1) on the internet no one cares if you're a dog. Point being, you can say whatever you want about who you are, it's unproveable in this context and doesn't make your point any stronger.
2) Venting is essentially the same as ranting, and while it may make you feel better in the short term, it's nonconstructive posting and ultimately pointless. -
Dude, you totally got to tell people the world is round in order to make your point. Awesome.

You read way too much into what happened. You're also attributing far too much that went wrong (in your opinion) to his role as lead.
-
I think it's pretty safe to assume that since everyone's page is still showing zero points, and since the servers aren't open to the public yet, there's no issue. If the page display is still wrong later, and the store balance is also wrong, then there's something for them to fix.

I'd love to have a discussion. When we can agree on basic premise, we can have a discussion. That's how it works. When you make blanket assertions based on facts not in evidence, there's no grounds for discussion.

Quote:Early is better than late in my book.Rrrg...I was in the process of making Galaxy Guy to park in the old Galaxy. Can't enter the game because the "server may be busy". What? Sadface!
They're not supposed to be down for another hour.
As for what I'm going to do during downtime, I had planned on a rousing game of How many times can I get logged out of the forums! -
Quote:You have that backwards. It's 3 hours later in the east, not 3 hours earlier. So, 10 AM Eastern (before, at, or after
). Great! I don't have to use up my lunch hour, and it is scheduled for a time that, if everything goes according to plan, is very doable for me -- at least for creating some toons, if not playing them.
Thank you, Aggelakis!
(Though there is the download time to contend with. :-\) -
Quote:Did you really just try to cite UnSub as a valid opinion? That guy has been one of the game's biggest detractors since about 6months after he started playing. He only started writing those "articles" because it lent a false credence to his ramblings that years of forums posts couldn't.Sure. 2009.
And of course since it's a success, naturally, there's no need for any complaints or changes, are there.
Well here's a opinion piece for you.
http://unsubject.wordpress.com/2010/...v-have-anyway/
It was a good attempt. I think you might need another slant though. So far the ones presented really haven't worked as intended.
Opinions are great, but not when they're biased. Bringing one of the most biased opinionators out there in to shore you up doesn't help you. -
Quote:It may be your opinion, but when opinions are based on quantitative statements, they can and should be assessed as such.Opinions do not require qualification. And it's not a stretch to say, IMO, the game has NOT done well.
It's really simple to count the number of MMOs that have done better, and count the number of MMOs that have done worse. Even without looking at which ones had much bigger development budgets, built in fanbases, and advertising dollars.
Count up the games. The number of titles that didn't reach as high, and didn't last as long is far greater than the number of titles that did the same or better.
I'm not sure what color the sky is in your world, but to most people around here, that kind of simple assessment means it IS a stretch to say the game hasn't done well, and it ISN'T wrong to point out your error in judgment when forming your sainted opinion. -
I delayed responding so people could get their hopes up, but I'm here to crush them. I'm staying.

It has been smoothed at all levels. That still doesn't mean later levels don't get bigger and take longer. I assure you no character is done at that level, they're really just getting started.
However 35-40 is the last big jump in opponent difficulty and size of each level, so there can still be a noticeable slowdown if you keep doing things the way you always did them. Sometimes it takes a bit of re-thinking. If your main goal is to level quickly you should always be ready to adjust your plans and tactics to improve xp over time.
I recommend a couple of things for people who complain leveling slow is getting them down:
- Alternate between a couple of characters at the same time so they always have some Patrol XP banked.
- Make sure the character isn't level pacted without a good reason to be.
- Make a point to bite the bullet and join the Weekly Strike Target whenever possible, even if you hate grouping.
- If you are a die hard soloist, find ways to change up your routine. Find some contacts with good story arcs so you can collect those end of arc bonuses, even if you don't care about reading the missions.
- Examine your character's overall Area Effect potential. When it's good, more lower level foes can often be better xp than bunches of higher level ones. Even if you're more of a single target monster, find a good mix so that you're not beating up the same boss for 3+ minutes, because killing 3 Lts in the same time span will be more xp and less hassle. -
Flat out making up a discussion between Posi and some mythical Korean devs that have hitherto never been mentioned as having any sort of role in Paragon Studios by official sources qualifies I think.
Considering when the buyout and creation of Paragon Studios happened they specifically did say they were an independent entity when it came to the content and products they developed, it's pretty easy to say you're making things up. -
I don't think they're ever going to use a TF or trial that's locked behind a story arc unfortunately.
So that kills Hess, Hannon, CoT.
Besides, the real issue doesn't lay in lack of variety for hero side, if you catch my drift. -
The devs don't care if they nerf people using a power outside the normal bounds of SO builds, especially if it's in the interests of making the power more generally useful to everyone.
-
Quote:I'll say here something I said in a discussion with Sam_Tow in another thread recently. When it comes to the original red side content, you're for the most part correct. However I feel the devs have been doing their best to take this lesson to heart and address this concern you (and most people) have.I'll reiterate what others have said, you feel like a minion or lackey and less like your own (wo)man.
If you look at villain stuff added since the buyout, it by and large avoids this pitfall. Dean MacArthur, Leonard Silman, and Dr Graves in particular. Of course there's a distinct lack of autonomy and divergent choices, but at least in terms of the writing you're much more an active part of your own story instead of just an errand boy on the edge of events. If you have to go along with things that make you feel like a chump, at least now it's written such that you're doing it to play a trick on the people trying to use you. -
Quote:I didn't suggest it root walking because the set already has a root walking pet. It's been done.I like the buff station idea, and HOT is a good improvement.
But if you don't like a floating Spirit Tree, why not have it walk on its roots?
Just a random thought, although as a Spirit Tree it would be ok for it to float.
I put out the idea the way I did, partly because I feel we have enough things tagging along after us as it is, and partly because I think having a stationary point that is helpful but not limiting is a dynamic we don't see much ingame.
Besides, a tree moving around is pretty much antithetical to it's fundamental Tree-ness.
I'd rather spend a few moments near it and then carry the memory of it's tranquility and comfort with me for a while (in the form of the ongoing buff). -
Quote:I really don't think the duration is the issue, except tangentially. The simple fact that most teams don't cluster as tightly as the very limited Area of effect of the Tree as it exists, is what makes it useless, not that it's in that spot too long.I'd be perfectly happy if they just cut down the duration/recharge.
With it's current duration most teams have moved on long before the tree/beacon has expired, meaning that outside of an AV fight a large portion of what benefit the Tree actually does have is wasted.
I would suggest a 30second Duration with an ~70second Recharge.
That way you're able to resummon it as you move along, and still has roughly the same uptime if you're standing in one spot. Perhaps also cut the end cost from 13 to 7.8, and maybe shorten the casting time (since you have to use it more often).
Besides, the last thing you want is for someone whose main job is control to be casting and recasting a utility power every minute or two. I don't think that would make the power more useful at all. What you're suggesting here is pretty much the exact opposite of the reasoning that got powersets with shields AoE buffing.
