Ummmm not at all. I'm talking about testing i21 specifically and the differences between account tiers. So was the OP. Nothing about subsequent issues.

Interesting thing is, how old the actor is isn't relevant if they write the right story. Khan is in suspended animation. Thaw him out earlier and he's older by the time Kirk is captain of the Enterprise.

If we accept the premise of the JJ-verse trek, the timeline divergence begins at the events around Kirk's birth, and they basically have his entire lifespan to monkey around in.

Just as a thought experiment (because I don't think they should use Khan) but let me posit how I'd do things:

Step 1- sign Javier Bardem to play Khan. A far more dangerous feeling and serious choice than Banderas.

Step 2- Khan and company are found several years earlier. I think it would be cool if they were found by Klingons and sent to a gulag world. Alternatively they could crash land alone on a more hospitable planet than Ceti Alpha turned out to be (what was originally a near miss is this time a crash landing).

Step 3- develop the nightmare scenario that almost happened on Earth and led to Khan's exile. The survivors/prisoners thrive and are in a state of perpetual war, either with each other or their captors.

Step 4- Starfleet gets intel that there are humans on a Klingon gulag world and the Enterprise is sent to help. The meat of the movie and the climax is the war and eventual rescue of Khan at the hands of Kirk. Have them clash, but have a much older and craftier Khan not do anything so preciptous as mutiny. The movie ends with Kirk and Khan as something approaching friends.

Step 5- Khan and his surviving cohort end up concealing their origins and spending the span between the 2nd and 3rd movie learning all about the modern Federation universe. From that point on, anything is possible. A 3rd movie could be an epic betrayal and in this universe, it's Kirk who ends up with the all consuming vendetta against Khan.

This is nearly appealing enough to me to want to see it happen. It's excellent juxtaposition and has the feel of telling a much more epic Kirk v Khan story than any single movie could.

You are correct in thinking it would suck, but basically Fred was saying that you're not going to get around the pretty hard and fast rule that no Pool Power can be better than a power that exists in a Primary or Secondary set.

On top of that, a self rez in Fighting would more than likely not be allowed because we have a Medicine pool where it would be more appropriate.

As for the Mezz protection suggested in another post:

I doubt they'd allow a toggle. You'd more likely see a long recharge click power that has the same effect as Domination (can be used when already mezzed).
  4. My guess is, instead of a fully public beta of non subscribers, they will ask current players to go through the Free Account creation process and login to the beta server.

That way any flaws are slightly less likely to make a bad first impression, and they won't have to make any changes to the forums or handle a lot of processing overhead to get feedback from people who wander in off the street to test.
  5. They are destroying Galaxy City. It will no longer be an open zone. It will be the new tutorial and after it's over people will be sent to Atlas Park or Mercy based on their choices in the tutorial.

As for a brief summation of what you missed: Everything

More seriously, the new Incarnate system is too complicated to explain in a few paragraphs. I suggest going to Ouroboros and talking to Mender Ramiel and learning the ropes while you unlock your Alpha slot.

As for switching sides, the primary reason people do it is for badges and convenience. If you're not a badge fan, a lot of people I know still turn their heroes to Vigilante status for 2 reasons: they keep the Hero side Ouroboros which means easier travel in Paragon, and they can visit the Rogue Isles when something interesting is going on there (like a short easy Weekly Strike Target compared to whatever is picked blue side).
  6. As for my namesake, his justifications were a bit easier. While LL is exceptionally clever for a lemur, it's not clear that he actually even really understands English or any other human language.

He likes shiny stuff and seeing new places. He considers beating people up to be rough play, and doesn't always readily distinguish motivations. Tips were like shiny bread crumbs. Then when he realized the doors on the other side of Pocket D would open for him now one word occurred to him: VACATION. So he got new shorts, t-shirt and sunglasses (he wears his Freedom Phalanx Fan Club t-shirt everywhere he goes in the Isles), and went off to find new shiny stuff!

He's even happier now that he's on his way back home and he found out while he was gone they added more new shiny stuff to his old hangouts!

As for why none of his old friends talk to him, he lost his beepy phone with extra large buttons on the second day, and he assumes it's just because he hasn't had time to put everyone's numbers in again.
  7. While Mind Control may be considered hackneyed, I'd have no issues going into Deep Cover.

Even a true hero should be willing to get his hands a bit dirty to go into the enemy's lair learn their secrets, then burn all those bridges and leave in a blaze of glory.

Hell, you can complete the first Patron arc to get the powers, then complete the second Patron arc to kick their *** with their own powers, then get out of the Isles by doing some good things on your way.

If you never complete the 3rd arc where you kiss and make up, it never happened. You can safely consider Scirocco to be a dire enemy of your hero from that day forward, and your name to be on Arachnos Most Wanted lists.

Was that really so hard to come up with?

*shrug* I consider those guys the rookie Warriors. All the guys worth their salt are out on Striga partying with girls, or in that 13th floor office with the Big O.

You don't see Freaks and Tsoo with a nice high-rise office.

Which is exactly my point. It should have been. You did it what, 3 times? And you make it sound like doing any preparation or attempt to learn is beneath you. You come here complacent in your certitude that all your problems stem from flaws in the trial, and anything anyone says is pointless since you decided not to do it anymore.

This is not useful feedback, and it is not in any way shape or form a productive thread, because of your attitude. Not because you're wrong, but because you have a crappy attitude.

If this second iteration trial is too complicated for you, you may as well give up on the Incarnate System now. Because it's not going to get any easier, and if you're completely unwilling to even make an attempt to learn before you play, you shouldn't even bother, because all you will be is dead weight on the team.

In Lambda we learn how to move fast and stay in a tight group. In BAF we learn how to not stand in certain areas at certain times. In Keyes we're expected to be able to do both, and you treat it like they're speaking Ancient Greek.

Learn to walk and chew gum at the same time before you give "feedback" like this again please.

Personally, I would flip mez and dmg in terms of overall importance. Domination used to boost both, now it only boosts mez power and duration (and gives you protection of course). Realistically speaking, 99% of what you're facing will be dead by the time your initial mezz wears off, and if it isn't you have so much recharge that mezzing again is a non-issue.

However part of that is having enough damage happening to make it work. Basically this is me reiterating what I said above about how much Musculature helped my Dominator.

By the way, I meant to mention this in an earlier post and forgot. If you'd like to see a monster PvE dom in action you're more than welcome to contact me. He's currently pretending to be a hero on Pinnacle and I regularly run Hero Tip missions in Atlas Park. If you (or anyone) wants to see what it can be like, I'd be happy to show off.
  11. There are days I love the Isles for what they are.

Then there are other days when I think Recluse needs to paint Black Scorpion yellow, tell him to break out the bulldozer attachment, and get to work.

For such a militaristic organization, the complete reliance on air transport and complete lack of roads from one side of an island to another tends to boggle my mind.

In the interest of finishing whatever the hell they started building in Port Oakes, Aeon should decide he needs fast easy travel between Aeon City (for supplies and labor, teleporting probably isn't an option) and he should build a connecting road and re-open the Tunnel and make a new access road through the port and over to that thing they're building.

In terms of player experience this gives us 3 things:

    - Access to the inside of Aeon City. The volume of that structure is almost the same as the Fab. We should get to do stuff inside and see what real capital S Science is all about.

    - A travel route that makes sense. We see construction vehicles parked all over the Isles and Paragon, and only rarely are there even roads that make sense leading to the spot.

    - Stuff that can happen in the tunnel. There's potential for all kinds of cool events and missions tied into this construction project. What (besides Bat'zul) closed down the tunnels in the first place? What's moved in since then (Troll like Rooge Izzles!)? What sorts of things happen on the back side of the biggest Rogue Isle, when there's approx 1/3 of it that we've never had access to? I'd love to see Family 'dyne factories, and smugglers ports, with shipments heading to Striga and Paragon. Stuff for the villains to do, and ground work for a BackAlley Brawler Task Force for heroes (Say No to Superdyne!)

People here are trying to help you. Yet you've already decided your way of feeling about the trial is right and they're not, and respond to them with negative emotion.

You don't care to be bothered to read a guide, and you can't be bothered to read and follow instructions during the raid itself, and somehow both these things are the game's fault.
  13. If people are losing that much health and not getting healed up immediately, then it's their own fault for not knowing how to not hurt AM, stay in a relatively tight group, and bring a few people with Rebirth.

My experiences on Keyes have been with my Dominator more than any others, and the only reason it doesn't go so smoothly for some squishies is they fail to grasp that it's simply a matter of positioning a little bit differently than the tough guys (just like melees have it harder when they have to pogo because of Nova Fist).

Go ahead and run around like a loon and pop greens, or stay grouped, get healed, and clear trash while the tough guys click glowies or pull War Walkers to the group, or drag AM around.

It's not Rikti Science, it's just different roles for different folks.
  14. The end battle is actually the most interesting part of the thing. I enjoy the final fight.

It's doing fundamentally the same thing on 3 different towers that is the pain, and the reason most people I know swear not to run it. You'd think the devs would have learned that repetition of the same task 3 times in the same trial is boring after all the feedback they got on Hami 2.0. I get that they tried, but the minor variations are just that, minor.

Edit to add- the final battle is no more complicated than dealing with the other two trials, once you understand it. I think the biggest issue with the AM fight is the graphical clutter, and the lack of obvious ways to deal with each ability. Really there's only 3 things to keep track of though. No more complicated than the Marauder fight or the Siege NS fight.

Edit to add to the edit- Truth be told, I find this trial much easier with 16. I think most of the confusion the OP feels stems from too many chickens running in too many directions. It's a lot easier to keep 10ish people clusters while a run out to complete tasks, or to move from spot to spot as a group, when there's only 16.
  15. Indeed. Doesn't make it any less annoying. I too think it should be changed, but yeah, it's not the only by any means.

  18. They didn't do a good job telling us about the option, but it's there. Just like other email options, it's where it belongs. I've simply set it as the default option for my account.
  19. It's a bug in the last patch. They know about it and hopefully can fix it soon.

It doesn't suggest that to me. I hear stories about companies like that going out of business because it's an unsustainable business model, not as success stories. Basically, they're predatory, they rely on churning though gullible advertisers, or sucking in successive rounds of investment, to make things look more successful than they are. Not saying that about the game companies that buy into the scheme, just the "third-party" firms.

CoH had a third party partner too, for the billboard ads. There are a lot of reasons the endeavor failed. I think our game needs to think twice and twice again before they go down that road again, because there are better options.

I for one would rather pay them money for items directly for the specific goal of avoiding advertising.
  21. The flaw with this idea is the same flaw as with ingame billboard ads. In order to have sponsored content, you need sponsors. Any advertising director with brains more potent than rice pudding would look at the numbers in this game (even after the Free Player bump) and laugh. A decent sized newspaper has bigger daily circulation than this game did at its high water mark.

They're going to make far more money from us paying for points and buying an item for a quarter than they would by corraling an advertiser to pay to give us something for free.
  22. Additionally check your account page, make sure your email address is up to date, and make sure any spam blocker you use won't trash email from NCSoft. They did warn us months ago this would happen.
  23. Level 35 IOs are better than or equal to SOs for every 4 out of 5 levels. The only time SOs beat them is the level when they are +3 and green.

Common IOs are in most cases more expensive than their SO counterparts, but when judging the cost, look at how many sets of SOs you'd have to buy to get the same number of usable levels. Buying IOs at 32 means skipping 4 rounds of SOs.

Even though you hate crafting, I would recommend saving up salvage in the appropriate level range once it begins dropping for you, and then crafting a few of your IOs with recipes from the crafting tables. It really doesn't take more than a few minutes, and is quite a bit cheaper than buying some of the higher demand IOs off the AH.
