Beta testing 'Free' accounts?

I can't imagine that this important aspect of CoH Freedom has been accidentally left off the testing menu.

That said, the VIP beta seems to be for only active subscribers. Will there be any way for an active subscriber to beta with a 'F2P' account?

I personally plan to keep my VIP subscription going for the foreseeable future. However, since I don't care much for trials, it occurs that I'm going to spend a lot of time grouping with F2P players in the next little bit. I want these folks to be as happy, comfortable, and at ease as possible so that they stick around and become regulars. If there are lots of issues griefing f2p accounts, that's not going to be the case.

My theory is that they'll eventually open the beta up to non-subscribers to test the F2P features. Right now they might want the VIPs to help them smooth everything out before that.

I would imagine, considering the fact that the biggest changes to the game that Might effect F2Ps are all back-end (Account status, market and such) there's not much to test, really. All the new actual gameplay elements are available for both types of player, and the market and such are things the VIPs will probably be interacting with in the beta as well.

My guess is, instead of a fully public beta of non subscribers, they will ask current players to go through the Free Account creation process and login to the beta server.

That way any flaws are slightly less likely to make a bad first impression, and they won't have to make any changes to the forums or handle a lot of processing overhead to get feedback from people who wander in off the street to test.

In other words, VIP access to Beta is probably the new Closed Beta, and Free Access is probably new Open. At least, that's what makes sense to me.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

Heh ... I thought only paying subscribers (VIPs) had access to Test and Beta. Now I know.

Ummmm not at all. I'm talking about testing i21 specifically and the differences between account tiers. So was the OP. Nothing about subsequent issues.

ummm not at all (again). Right now, there are only paying subscribers, and they are the only ones with access. Again, we know nothing about the future. This discussion is just about how they plan to test the account tier system.

Actually that is currently possible thanks to the account server being broken. A lot of accounts are flagged "premium" at the moment, you can't access the ingame store, all incarnate access is disabled, you can't assign Paragon Rewards, all your character slots are locked, etc. The list goes on.

Right now it can't even tell what expansions are tied to the account, so my rogues are villains, my vigilantes are heroes, and I don't have access to side switching even though I have Going Rogue: Complete Collection on both of my accounts.
