  1. Posting from my phone I can't see the movie yet but suffice to say I'm looking forward to geting home today. Speaking of good sports, I think you deserve a tip of the hat for a loss with grace and enthusiasm. I admit when the bet was made I saw it as win/win. Regardless of who's right, there'd be an amusing result.

I admit it's nice to win, though. But now that we've embarrassed her let's maybe go ahead and add the options after all, Devs?
  2. Twinshot is a Primal. There are hints that she's probably the mirror of Ricochet of the Crusaders
  3. Wouldn't upping the cap make things easier?

They've never been more of a name, though, even then. Even if the Devs name-dropped the idea, that's not the same as being mentioned in game. I admit, that's on me for not being clear. But it doesn't change the fact that they effectively seem to have nothing to do with anything in the game's current form.

Well, that's sort of my point. The Battallion themselves weren't mentioned until, like, what, i21? All we got back in i11 is that there was a "Coming Storm". It almost seems kind of anti-climactic to have a bunch of guys that haven't done much of anything suddenly show up and be the biggest threat ever. At the very least, there's no personal investment.

Praetoria was similarly kind of boring because we were up against C-Listers that we'd already beaten. Mot, on the other hand, kind of works, because it's been known that there are much bigger, much meaner nasties behind all the tiki idols the Banished Pantheon carry around. That's really the way to do a "bigger threat" villain, I think. Have them working behind the scenes, but definitely present. That's why the Promehenator and Doc work. We've had touches of rivalry going on considerably longer, and they're presences we've come to know, making them work better as villains.

And the next time around, we can have the next villains shadow over the current conflict, so there's less of a "okay, the old threat's over, here's a new one now". It makes the story much more engaging.
  7. So I was thinking. The real "coming storm"? It's the inevitable Incarnate war that breaks out between the Dream Doctor and Prometheus fighting over who gets to stop the coming storm. That'd be great. Much more personal investment than a bunch of nameless aliens we've never seen before.

    Just sayin'
  8. I look at it this way: when a Melee-based Incarnate goes back to the real game, they're going to be that much better than everything else anyway, so the raids are set up to temporarily force them to rely on teammates as a way of turning the tables for a bit.

Now this, I'll grant. Having to run and re-run this raid 5-6 times to unlock the slot, with no way to do it other than running and re-running it 5-6 times does not help to endear it as anything other than an "okay, let's get this out of the way" sort of thing. In that regard, it's like the blueside Midnighter arc, only you have to cure 150 Lost instead of 15.

Coming back to previous comments, I noticed in a second run that there are screen-letters warning you to back up on both AoEs, it seems...but they don't show up unless you're close to him. I got hit a few times by them because I was running back to the battle after using a Quill. Perhaps there needs to be wider range on the warning?
  12. Hmmm, teams I've been on have gone 2-0 so far, so I don't see the difficulty. Maybe it's a matter of going in responsibly level shifted? It seems pretty straightforward...almost too much so.

    REVAMP EM set

    What I'd like to see:

~Give Energy Punch the "rushing punch" animation that Heavy Blow from Street Justice has. This is a very small nerf, for the sake of buffing elsewhere.
~Give Energy Punch's current animation to Stun, allowing it to come out and control an enemy quickly. Possibly raise the magnitude to 4 to make up for Total Focus losing it many many moons ago, but if so, it'd probably need a slight bump to Endurance cost to go along with it.
~Give Stun's current animation to Energy Transfer. Keep the damage where it is, but raise the self-damage a bit to encourage careful use.
~Give Energy Transfer's current animation to Total Focus. No balancing out, straight-up buff.

    and/or:

~Remove the chance to Stun from Whirling Hands. Keep its minimal range, but have it make a similarly small TAoE on every target hit, thus expanding the range if a large number of enemies are bunched around you. There would probably have to be some sort of check to prevent multiple TAoE portions from hitting the same enemies, lest it be a too overpowered, but it'd be a kind of neat effect, I think, and a unique way to improve a power that, in itself, probably shouldn't have a huge range.

I'd argue that there really isn't that much to learn if you just want to enjoy them month to month, either. Just pick up whatever issue's current, and you'll learn soon enough.

  17. Hey, remember back in the i20½ beta, when I said "if the Null to Gull options go live without being part of the Options UI, they never will", and you said that it was just a stopgap? And then you proposed we make a bet on who was right?

As my note dictates, this was your post for the terms of how the bet would be decided:
    Quote:
By I23 would be more fair. I21 is toast. I22 is iffy, but the interstitial time between I21 and I22, or more likely between I22 and I23, would be reasonable. If they are going to do it at all, I22 maybe, I23 definitely. Past that point, and I would have to concede they are not interested.

I don't really need anything in-game. So we'll make the bet something more intangible. Whoever loses must post a picture of themselves bowing before Null the Gull while extolling the foresight of the other.

Which actually levels the playing field tremendously, because there are devs that would deliberately delay the change to I23.5 just to see me have to do that.
So then...I believe you have a picture to post.
  18. He wasn't too hard, but he wasn't very exciting, either. Too many ultra-PBAoEs was annoying on my short-ranged Defenders. And the one that does get annoying red letters, the eye beam, was hella wimpy.

Since I can't slot for Taunt in my PM Ancillary pools attacks, does the taunt enhancement from Nerve affect them? Mids says not, but sometimes Mids is off, and I'm hoping that I'm getting enhanced taunt in Fireball and Melt Armor, as well as Fire Blast and Ring of Fire, but I can't tell if I am.

    Anyone know for sure?
With regards to your regular 1-50 powers, Alpha only applies its effects to powers that can slot enhancements for the effect type. So a power that can't take Taunt enhancements will not get a boost to Taunt.

Well, I wouldn't really have a problem Thorns getting proliferated to blast sets, mind you, but honestly, it's more just a comment that I'm not sure what currently existing sets would fit with this one naturally (no pun intended) in terms of theme for the non-Controller ATs.

I'd love to pair it, with, say, Earth Assault, but we don't have an AT that can do that.

...50% of the time (at best). Based on what I've heard (admittedly, all second hand, since I didn't do the new raid in beta to try it myself), the numbers are fairly uninspired on their own. Y'know what else I can only have up on special occasions? Hybrid powers don't sound nearly as strong as other "god mode" powers, yet that's what they seem to emulate in terms of use.

Anyway, as for what I'd like to see:
Fights alongside the heroes and ultimately sacrifices himself to save the world from crazed Calvindon in whatever raid shows up in i24.

Indeed. I realized I have enough salvage on one character to get Hybrid, so even though the power itself it looks pretty lousy, I'll probably try to blitz through a few Magis tomorrow evening so that I can do it and be done. Replaying it over a couple weeks would just make it more tedious.
  25. I have a tendency to pick Phantoms, as they just feel the most "generic", and very few of my characters are tied enough to any specific villain group their minions flying around after them.
