Cool beans. And what service! I make a topic just last night about the inconvenient cost, and the very next day...I end up with double what I needed! Tell Ghost Falcon I said thanks. Grabbed a five-pack for my main account, too.

I notice character slots have also gone on sale for 50% off this week. Is there a reason that's not mentioned? Or should I keep my mouth shut because that wasn't meant to happen?

To be fair, for Kheldians, by the time you're level 10, you're already fighting against others of your kind that have decided to take a villainous path. Since it's a legacy sort of thing, it can be justified, but I'd like to think if Kheldians showed up in a our brave new Freedom world, they wouldn't have the same restrictions, and the same should probably the case if there are ever any other future EATs (not that I'd expect such, mind you).

You don't really need a separate Archetype for this. The costume pieces already exist for a pretty good Masked Rider/Sentai look, and while my knowledge of the genre is admittedly rather limited, most of what I've seen can be duplicated pretty well with the current powersets. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a "Power Rangers"-style mostly-Scrapper supergroup running around out there right now, colored coded with, say, using Street Justice, Martial Arts, Dual Blades, Archery, and, like Electric Melee.

One thing I liked about Lambda is that it actually uses the League system by forcing the group to split up and assigning simultaneous goals. It's nice that if there's going to be such a large fighting force of players, that they are used in such a fashion. BAF has this to some extent as well, a bit more if you're going for the Keep 'em Separated badge. TPN tries to have it, but it doesn't really work since it's actually more efficient just to ignore the Telepathists. The others don't really make use of the League system, though, and that's a real shame.
I do also enjoy some of the gimmicks that are designed to emphasize strategy. This is a fine line to tread, and sometimes the trials pull it off, sometimes they don't. BAF does it well, with the aggro sharing and the simultaneous defeats. MoM does a good job as well, with each battle having one or two minor gimmicks, and having to adjust between them. However, it's possible to do too little or too much. Lambda's are boring. Use temps, and then it's just a normal fight. Marauder's jumps prolong the fight, but don't really make players have to think. Keyes has too many at once, to the point where it feels pointless to even pay attention to them. Underground doesn't do too bad, but the Confuse aspect is a little too focused on specific powers rather than strategy (Keyes did too, before the changes). And TPN? TPN is a real annoyance, with the fact that one of the strategic techniques was specifically removed. I really liked the fact that use less commonly helpful effects like Phase and Knockback could be used effectively.
The last thing to note is the "suitably epic" feel of the trials. The best ones for this, I think, are Underground and MoM. The former is a breathtaking journey into what ends up an alien world, the latter a classic brawl with a powerful arch-villain on her home turf. Both of these do a good job of accomplishing the way post-50 content should really feel. Less so the others, which don't feel like much more than generic military strikes that could've been done 15 levels before. -
As a note, while not all IOs are available this way, you can purchase an unlimited number of the attuned IOs from the beta market at a "cost" of 0 points. These enhancements are pre-made, so you don't have to hope the devs seed the market, or spend a lot of time copying over characters with Merits, or the like. Since the Rare sets are cycled out, though, you'll have to snag those during the windows they're being tested. Personally, I have several sets "in storage" for the sake of future mucking about.

Quote:Ah, cool. Must be this week's sale? When I tried right before posting, I could only get one slot for 480.Dunno when they went up, but 2 char slots are currently on sale for 400 points, so I think that solves your dilema.
Thanks for reading this topic, Ghost Falcon. -
Recluse dying seems relatively likely to me as well. For one, it causes both sides to be affected more equally. For another, his Strike Force is already going to need some major remodeling after all this, just likes Statesman's will need to be co-opted somehow. Plus, the States/Recluse rivalry has been pushed waaaaayyyyy to the back of pretty much everything, and can't really work right anyway without one of them. I also suspect they'll both get offed.

Quote:Regarding this, both of them show up as completely generic Skull bosses in standard missions. One in just a really generic standalone, and the other, IIRC, in the last mission of the Bonefire arc, but they're never identified as being special in any way. It's more like when the website did their writeup the writers went back and used some dartboard decision making to say "those two guys, they're the leaders."*The Skulls and the Petrovic brothers. I may be misremembering, but I understood that the Petrovic brothers are the founders of the Skulls. I don't know if they show up anywhere, but I haven't seen them. I don't know why they decided to start a gang, I don't know if they had black magic powers before they did, I don't know how they found them, I don't know what they want... And considering the Skulls just sort of "stop," it might be a good story to tell.

Ah, okay, I didn't think the first time counted as "confirming", even if you didn't change alignments. My mistake, then.
-
As I understand it, to get A-Merits from the SSAs, you have to re-affirm at least once. Basically, until you get an A-Merit from tips, you can't get any from SSAs. Is that mistaken?
-
Darn, that's what I thought, but I was hoping I was wrong.
Thanks though, guys. -
Basically, see as above. I want to grab an extra server slot for my second account, which has 400 points stored, but don't really have anything else I want to do with 'em at the moment. There isn't some clever method to just pay my dollar, is there?

Quote:I would note that the former set of characters probably are not doing Incarnate content, in that case.I have characters that totally can be killed by a lucky, well-placed rock to the dome, and characters that can. They both have to be played in the same game so I don't freak out about such trivialities.
Assuming those weaknesses mean so much to you, of course. -

I've never really gotten that mentality, to be honest. I play this game because I want to play this game, not because I feel compelled to be subscribed to an MMORPG. The idea of game X "killing" game Y is just...weird to me. I mean, barring sequels, maybe, has there ever been a case in the history of the medium where a new game came out and a previous one happened to conveniently die in its wake?
Of course, that said, it won't stop me from teasing Paragon about it, just for giggles. -
Quote:Wasn't that similarly conveniently timed with the release of a certain Distinguished Competitor, though?Well, we did have the Seven Years of Super Rewards Vanguard Loyalty pack for subscriptions maintained for approximately the same time early this year. It seems like a comparatively sensible marketing tactic to hold revenue steady for the first quarter.
-
The Winter event has nothing to do with any of that. It's simply an annual tradition.
The Loyalty Program, on the other hand... -
Is that the same data mining which a couple months ago had them scratching their heads about what they could do because nobody wanted to run the new trials, just like Snow Globe is saying?
-
-
I can buy into that, I suppose. What I'm more worried about would be that, now that their story has more or less come to a close, bringing them back just so Moffat can kill Rory off for good, or something, would really put me off the show, but also sort of seems like something I can imagine this series doing.

-
Well, there's also the possibility that they decided they wanted it in that format, so rather than them both being broken, the villain one was "fixed". I sort of like the way it is now though anyway, so I won't complain on that regard.

Quote:That pretty much contradicts what we've already been told about Tyrant and Hamidon's relationship, but the writers are not shy about retcons, so you never know. I do sort of like the idea of Tyrant stepping into Statesman's shoes, if only because I have a character who I still sort of treat as a Loyalist, playing villainside, and while I don't RP, it's amusing to think of things from my characters' worldviews. What if the big twist to the Who Will Die arc turns into Statesman dying and Tyrant fleeing Praetoria and taking Statesman's spot?
Lets say the final trial reveals that the Praetorian Hamidon has really been controlling Cole since the cease-fire between Praetoria and Hamidon. I know that is different from the ending of the UG, but doesn't mean that it couldn't have happened and the end of UG is half true, but half misdirection.
Lets say the final trial releases Tyrant from control of the Hamidon and he flees Praetoria just before Hamidon starts taking it out. Lets say that's right after Statesman dies. Maybe he'll stand up and take his place, in an attempt to redeem himself.
Another possibility is maybe Hami isn't controlling, but maybe their minds were switched...by Mother Mayhem or something. Maybe the twist could be them getting him out of the Hamidon body and putting him into the Statesman body instead.
That said, I don't particularly see it happening. The storyline has come too far not to have a big final showdown with Tyrant, but it's not far enough that that's likely to happen before the final SSA. Furthermore, the whole story has been painted way too black and white. Setting Tyrant in as a major hero...I don't see it. If he's ever redeemed, it'll be a death-by-redemption sort of thing once the Coming Storm shows up.
