  1. I never get any responses to my build help threads.
  2. Please help! I don't know what I'm doing yet.

    Some notes:

    0) Primary purposes: tanking/soloing concept build, with a side of farmability. It won't be winning prizes, but I'd like it to be able to go in and do 6-8 minute tickets.

    INCARNATE STUFF:
    1) This build plans to make use of the Agility Radial Paragon Alpha Slot which releases with 21.5. Based on past values, Agility Radial Paragon should be +33% Endurance Modification, +33% Recharge Rate Reduction, +33% Movement Speeds, +20% Defense Buff Reduction. (This is +22% Most of the Stuff, and +13.33% Defense after red-level EDR.) You can simulate this by turning on any Nerve T4 to see the Defense Buffs and Spiritual Radial Paragon to see the Recharge Rate Buffs. Muscular Radial grabs the End Mod buffs.
    2) This build is going to use Barrier Core Epiphany, which will boost all defense and resists by a minimum of +5%. Barrier Core Epiphany will be on autocast.

    3) Hasten has been skipped. The spiky nature of a defense build means that the difference between 25 and 30 seconds on the self-heal - the single biggest thing I want recharge for on this build - isn't really a big deal IMO. Open to outside views, but I'm sitting at 180 to 200% global recharge without it, and during my side activity of farming, I can reliably count on Force Feedback triggering for an extra +100.
    4) Overload has been skipped. While it's a superb ability, the build was getting tight - it was between Overload, Fireball, and Taunt. I'm reasoning that Overload is less vital with the HP, Resistance and Defense numbers being sported here, but I'm open to opinions.
    5) Concentrated Strike was skipped in favor of Focused Burst. With the Interface Slot active on Reactive Radial Flawless, they produce similar DPA for a Brute, similar Power Siphon Buffs and Damage Debuffs, and Focused Burst fires faster/can be used on runners/can be slotted with a more defensively useful set.
    6) Rectified Reticle was slotted into Power Siphon just because I found it problematic as a tank if I couldn't see enemies at times in normal content.
    7) Undecided on Ring of Fire versus Char. Ring of Fire does great damage, though, so while it won't be my primary attack it can be used in supplement pretty well. Either way, it's slotted more for the bonuses.
    8) Energy Drain will take out something like 70% of your average mob's endurance, which is a nice proactive defense tool.

    Survival Totals:
    HP: 136.9% (2052 HP)
Regeneration: 428% (during Energize), 250% (Normal)
Recovery: 3.04/s (With Perf. Shift and toggles active)

Avoidance: (Under 2/5/10 Stacks of Energy Drain; note it can stack up to 20. With lowest stage of Barrier active. Softcap is 45% for normal content, 59% for Incarnates/+4.)
    Smashing/Lethal: 61.2/63.1/66.3%
    Fire/Cold: 55.1/57/60.2%
    Energy: 58.3/60.2/63.4%
    Negative: 47.3/49.2/52.4%
    Psionic: 42.9/Same
    Melee: 31.7/Same
    Ranged: 26.7/Same
    AoE: 26.7/Same
    Defense Debuff Resistance: 51.9%

Mitigation: (With lowest stage of Barrier)
    S/L: 37.5%
    F/C: 15.9%
    Energy: 33.4%
    Neg/Tox: 21.7%
    Psionic: 20%

Especially since that +70% stays +70% for 2 minutes at a time when you exemplar. Like I said, I'd certainly never skip it unless I was playing something really odd.

P.S. In case it's not clear from context, I'm talking only about skipping Hasten. I run about 50/50 on Cardiac vs Spiritual and about one half of my incarnate build plans, if not actual characters, use Ageless Destiny +Rec/+End.
Personally speaking, I don't like to put hasten in exemplar builds; without making it perma, I get thrown by the significant difference in attack chains I have for most of the time, but randomly not all of it.
  6. I'd argue technology, easily, for that one. Vanessa DeVore is a better example of unclear origin. Mutant traits that manifest magical abilities, boosted by an enchanted mask.

It'd be neat if there were some trials that required you to split up based on origin, or altered the fight. Similar to how omega team was formed.
  7. I should have my "does not exemplar horribly" tank build ready by then.

Good to know. I won't feel bad about it since I already have KMs 'cause I lurves them. (Even FURY is hit by DR, what the heck?! Does DR hit everything but Damage?!)

I already have a brute and I'm not big on 'rolling multiple simultaneous versions of the same toon' when I have builds. Will the suck of brute fury outweigh the OP of KM enough to make it unpleasant, or will they roughly even out?

Also, on a completely OT note, gosh DANG that was an awesome RP event on Saturday. Am so glad I went. =) Thanks for organizing it.
  10. On the general note of the Well, as ehh as I am about the way it's presented, I don't think it's as hokey as Lord Recluse's Web.

I also feel like the origins themselves are a little unclear because:
    - If a mutant is the first of a new race, is that Natural or Mutation now?
    - If Superman is natural because it's a natural result of being who he is, what's the ultimate distinguishing factor in preventing Redcaps from being natural origin?
    - Science and Tech and Science and Mutation blend together HEAVILY.

I'm assuming that Alpha and Interface are hidden if you chose to Hide Auto-Powers, yes?
  12. The Victorian faces usually look weird, but I have a character that managed to use them and have it work well. I think the secret was that her dominant color is black while her hair was light-colored - the overall effect was that the shine didn't stand out against the hair, but it did highlight her face very well.

I do love the new halloween faces Voodoo posted.

I skip hasten whenever possible. My fanciest character forwent hasten in favor of global bonuses, and for my blasters I often find that it isn't necessary since they have easy access to global recharge and blaster single target chains barely even require any recharge at all.

Spiritual is nice for making up for shortcomings on a struggling character, but then again cardiac can fill that same role. My own ideal is using musculature on every character but sometimes I don't feel like making the investment in the build that makes that possible, and sometimes I like to take advantage of the silly slottings that cardiac and spiritual allow you to get away with. Another point in favor of spiritual is that its secondary healing enhancement is a stellar bonus that not only works with many sets but also enhances rebirth destiny to tremendous proportions.

So yeah, there are many ways to build. The things you mention are popular because they are widely applicable, but that doesn't mean nobody uses anything else. Run some trials and pay close attention to the teams' buff icons and you might be surprised at how many people use nerve, gravitic, and everything else.
? Incarnate Slots put a visible buff on the user?
  15. Hey all,

When we did the Hamidon Invasion Event, I had the pleasure of aerial kiting/tanking around a bunch of the things to slowly solo them - it was my most fun single encounter in the game yet, and I feel that 3D adds a lot to things. I was hoping to recreate that really enjoyable combat, and write up a story too! However, I'm finding really limited options on enemy placement in MA; is there any way or any suggestions on how to make a map where Hover/Raptor Pack/Fly sort of becomes an indispensible tool to complete the mission?

I've only found one Shadow Shard map and it's a Nemesis base.

    Thanks!
  16. Thanks for the fast replies. =) Just curious, what DPS builds use Musculature instead of Spiritual without relying on stuffing recharge everywhere? Mind, I'm not adverse to doing a little recharge, I just kinda wanna put together a build where I'm not a slave to the blue dice IO.

    Kinetic Melee?

Poking my head into PvP in this game; not sure if that's a good idea, given what I hear and see, but I am.

What's up with Kinetic Melee? I happen to be a big fan of the Powerset - have a Brute Tank and a Scrapper Damage with it - and have heard it called out a few times as an 'easy' win. Can someone elaborate on why? I'm sure part of it is its flexibility at range.

(Is it worth it to try to make a PvP build with a Brute KM? I understand that its damage is low for Brutes compared to Scrappers until high Fury, and I can't guarantee high Fury in a PvP situation, I'm guessing... I used it on a Brute solely for the -dmg to add to my survivability.)
  18. I'm curious - what builds out there don't need:
    - Luck of the Gambler
    - Recharge stuffed in every set bonus
    - Spiritual Core Alpha
    - Hasten

To perform at or near their top-level performance?

I think in particular it'd be neat to see builds that use Radials instead of Cores for their Alphas. The side bonuses are potentially very nifty QoLs - better Hover Speed, Longer Intangibility (though everything I've had that uses Intangibility doesn't actually accept that slot...), Super Accurate to-hits.

Also curious what DPS builds use Musculature instead of Spiritual.

All powers that are not purely instant have a chance to activate their slotted 'on-effect' proc every 10.25 secs.

    Maneuvers FX?

I have never thought to myself that Maneuver's graphics interfered with my look. It's such a minor effect.
This is my thinking as well. Nothing like having a fire-themed character and I'm walking around looking more Iced than Vanilla's career because a Cold Defender showed up.

I appreciate the desire for fewer visual FX, this one just doesn't usually bug me unless I'm RPing - in which case it is off.
  21. Spiritual is by and large the most powerful Alpha Slot for most builds. It's a little sad that I can't make my awesome swooshy power more often, sure, but Spiritual would be giving Musculature a run for its money on damage then, in addition to still being way better for everything else.

Void, Cryonic, and Ionic have significant properties unrelated to damage attached to their judgements. Those significant side properties are now up 31% more often with VR Spiritual Core Alpha.

In addition, you're doing very slightly less than (including activation times) 31% more damage with them for negligible end cost, and you can use it on a fresh pack of enemies more often - which is more helpful since usually Judgement from a few heroes is already overkill on a pack.

Musculature's +45% damage isn't much of an advantage to speak of there.

    Mob KB Magnitude

Last I heard, the Karma -KB IO if bought from the Real Money Market was bugged. Not sure if that's where you got it from or not.

PPD and Carnies sounds good to me.
