Quote:Thank you for the comments, yes I had a great time writing it.Lady Arete, I noted a lot of depth to your backstory for Carolyn. The disapproval of her father, the jealousy of her mother, her relationship with Andrew, the attempted blackmail by Benjamin, and the drama that ensued when she was introduced to the Circle of Thorns during her vacation in America.
Her searing Phoenix & spell powers are cool. Her time in prison almost looks like a rite of passage that helped to mature her as an experienced character, who has had highs and lows.
Well done on that bio!
You are right, her prison time allowed her the time to think, to cry and come to terms with who she is and what happened aka Rite of passage.
Its funny how a character first made on a trial account lets your mind wander and begin creating, even if at the time you let the account lapse.
Then a few years later you think, Hey why not try CoH again? But this time with an almost complete bio.
Did take a little trip to your domain DSNG and nice homepageI see you colored Statesman, but I was unable to see it bigger when I clicked on it (no problem with the pencil sketches). aka Server error.
Seems I also did get server errors on most of the pencil sketches that followed. -
Seems we are writing down our own characters origin stories, oh well I can jump on that one.
Lady Arete (See signature for complete bio)
By her heritage she is a strong sorceress, who after her father and mother seperated got raised by her mother (witch). Becoming stronger then her mother she struck out on her own, marrying into british nobility and later becoming a small time villain (stealing, bribing, enchanting for more magical lore and power).
She came to Paragon City, fell in with some local mages (Circle of Thorns), kept a low profile (away from Midnighter League) and learned what the Circle really wanted with her.
After a quick battle in Perez Park and a flight to evade mages and heroes, she managed to get away and find a skyscraper in what would be known as Steel Canyon. There she cried and the hero whom she did not evade found her. The hero was a hero and she managed to come to terms with what had happened.
She gave her self over to the authorities, got her sentence and was sent to the Zig. There she was forgotten, even through what would happen: The first Rikti war.
Cyrene (emp/sonic), is a gifted beautiful mutant singer who when not engaging in heroics sings in various clubs with the moniker "The Siren". Sadly for her she has a relationship problem, meaning if anyone falls in love with her and she in that person... there will be trouble. Trouble as in a curse beginning to warp that persons feelings and character and change a sensitive caring person into a very selfish, obsessed person. Fortunatly/sadly it has only ran its full course once.
Platonic relationships? Family feeling? Yes please! No touchy!
I love both these characters, specially Cyrene as she was created through playing in the game, as back-story came as it suited. -
Quote:That could also apply Hydrofoil to bases and base builders, so maybe not the best question to ask. Since in a sg there are only a few that does create the base. What good is a system that only 10% or less of players are using.
For myself. I am no hard core pvp'er. If anything I would call myself a casual pvp'er. The only thing that destroys that sentiment is that I've not entered a pvp zone in a long long time. I was more in the pvp zones pre I-13, then after. Maybe due to the badges and maybe cause I enjoyed the fast paced action.
For me the travel suppression (slow down when your attacked) took some of the fun away. (I could fly and toss fireballs and do battle = cool (to use that word) )
I mentioned badges, yes I am a badger. I don't mind going into a pvp zone to get the badge, cause I will get it, no matter how many foes I will face... (or if there is too many, I'll simply go at another time and get them then)
Now there must have been some changes to pvp (I've not payed too much attention, sadly), cause for me it was not really worth it in the long run. However I did see plenty of good pvp'ers that enjoyed the battles and even if my character is made for aoe damage of npc's... they commended me on my efforts and gave me some tips (single target attacks is the best... simple advice I know)
You want to have fun Hydro and Bionic, so does the pvp'ers and so do I (and others). For several that I know (I'm a novice myself), the number crunching, the building of your character and seeing how your build stands against another is what I've understood is part of the pvp community. (My understanding, not speaking for them)
One pvp scenario that I enjoyed was on the other superhero game. It had plenty of zombies and every hero (all but a few) started out as heros. It was random who started out as zombies. Your mission was to protect the cottage with civilians, while a horde of zombies where coming against you (and a few "undead" heroes). If a hero was killed, congratulations, you where now part of the undead legion.
It was a simple scenario, but it was fun. Even with a not fully maxed out char etc...
The reason we got the Issue 13 (or pvp changes) was to make the small pvp community a bit bigger and do the changes so that more people could join in.
I cannot say they succeeded in bringing me in and I've noticed that people moved or well, as I interpret it... it may not have been entirely successful. (Maybe successful in the US, how should I know?)
So suggestion or question.
Bases:
There are plenty of items already existing in the game, will we see them in the base builder? Also if you want to add new items, think Lego, (bricks) that we can use while creating. Thick, think, long and short. Will we see that in the game (hopefully soon)?
Pvp:
I love pvp scenarios, will we see something like the Zombie apocalypse from that cryptic hero game, in CoH? It gives us a purpose to fight, enemies to fight and fun?
(Edited: noticed it was answers (darnit) oh well, maybe Avatea or Ocho will give the suggestion back to the devs) -
Also Tommy, I would check if the server(s) you play on has badge channels in them. Most likely they do and that will help you get various Task forces, mayham/safeguards, hunts etc as well.
Provided that the badgers on that channel offer their safeguards/mayhams...
Efficiency Expert, Is a badge for lvl 45-50. You will have several missions with a timeframe of 15 minutes that starts from you accept mission until you complete it.
In other words, make certain you have your drop mission option ready (should you see you will fail), make certain you have low diff and just run to the end of the mission, wack the boss (and near minions) or click the glowie and your done. -
Gratulations to all who got the badge. Way to go Union.
That should teach me from being away from the game. Oh well hope there will be alot of more CoP raids going. -
As the saying goes, Better late then never, Samuraiko. And it was worth the wait. As a few comments on the youtube says, you do not have to do this, but you do... and you do it excellently.
Loved the video, the build-up towards the alignments, the music... It all fitted.
Way to go! -
Nice entry Shia, nice touch with the ribbons. All wrapped up and...
We'd better make certain a few of us do not get near them...
Hmm... wonder what Christopher's entry will be like. He has been very quiet now... for too long. Hope he is all right. -
Only way that I know of is if the character was created the same day you joined a supergroup. (by looking at the date of joining said sg)

Read about the pack and weighted its use and found it wanting (read lacking).
For me a thing named "a party pack" would have contained more then just these 8 emotes. To justify the cost of this pack it should (as said in other posts) have contained costume parts and/or temp power... Like the other booster packs.
I know that I will not buy this pack as it seems to me more of a cheap chance of milking us, the customers.
My hope is that the company sees all the negative feedback, a lot of low sales figures on this particular pack (party pack) and sees the error of their ways.
Including more "party" things to the pack would be a great move (sorry sports do not count. However if you could make it so that two players actually could toss the ball to each other...) like Dj'emote, singing, dancing (together... I can dream, can't I?)...
Costumes, the clown was mentioned, how about more party clothes or costumes, more hairstyles, make-up... Base items to make your own nice party in the base, buffs that has party themes etc...
(Things that are suggested through this whole thread) -
Quote:I agree, but there are always the exceptions to the rule. This depends upon the player and how he or she has build/slotted the character. I know one player with a dark/spine that will keep aggro and hold it, from the main tank (and survive).Tanking is that and also CONTROLLING the aggro of mobs and keeping it focused on you and off your team and Tanks are better at that than any other AT.
Granted this is some time ago, not sure how that scrapper would fare now, but *shrugs*
I agree with your initial assessment. Your usual scrapper are not tanks, even how much you buff them etc. They are melee damage with some nice survivability.
A tank is a tank and a good tank is a sweet thing. -
Heard about that game Tartyr.
Have not tried it and don't think I will. Thanks for the warning. -
Soul Storm and Brim got the answers.
By joining one of the channels you get in touch with a lot of players.
And since a character do not need to be level 50 to switch side... just do tip for alignment and do your morality missions. -
Also.. I would by now have put a R.I.P tag near Union Badgehunters (UBH).
I do not think its that active any longer (since the members are in Sals badgehunters now) -
Channel name: Union Raids
Description (long): One channel to rule them, one channel to find them, one channel to bring them all and on Union bind them.... errr. Instead of having one channel for just one raid and thus swamping your global list, a few of us thought it would be better with just ONE RAID channel. So this channel is the result of the existing Hamidon Raid channel, Mothership Raid channel and the short lived CoP channel. One channel for Raids, not matter how many raids we get in the future.
Description (short): Merged existing raid channels into one (Mothership Raid, Hamidon Raid and CoP Raid channel).
Restrictions: This is primarily for announcing Raids, discussion of raid tactics etc.
How to Join: Public /chan_join "Union Raids" -
About Destiny's power.
Yes.. thats another power I do not wish to have, if it is always on.
(Powers that must always be on.. are.. baaad.. .mostly. Powers you can turn on and off at will.. (oh yes, gimme) )
Just imagine seeing the past, future and present at once, every timestream possible by every choice.
There is only one thing you can do... go insane. -
To add to this list.
There will be alot of global channels (and we only got room for 10). So a few of us began thinking that hey... is it not more wise to have one raid channel?
Instead of 1 mothership channel, 1 hamidon channel and one CoP Channel (and more raid channels mostlikely to come?
Specially since those raids are rarely used. And we use broadcast to convey information anyway.
So Fatal made "Union Raids"
And I hope more of Union will be heading to this channel for Raids, aswell as Sals badgehunters, UTF and Union Chat.... and any other channel that is vital for the players -
I would not want the power of telepathy like Professor X or Jean Gray.
Having to constantly block all thoughts that appears around you, having the power to invade other peoples minds... nah. (Babylon 5 illustrates this good with the Telepath's having to constantly hum nursery rhythms, counting etc.. to block stray, constant thoughts... and that was not even scanning) -
Well suggestion for the next CoP Attempt (wont be here for the weekend) would be:
24 players everyone with the temp power Envenomed Dagger (-regen 10 secs).
24 players with shivans
A few of the players (ice troller/defenders) with Benumb, dark def/corr with Howling Twilight.
In the second room:
We take out the cube minions.
2-4 casts Envenomed Dagger during the 45 secs. All have casts Shivans.
2-3 thows chemical nuke and the rest hammers Rularuu.
If Rularuu seems to survive into the next round. Those with Benumb and Howling Twilight casts their debuffs just before the shields go up.
When shields are up (bubble forms around him)... all moves away from the center and hits their cubes.
This way the raid force do not have to fight both Rularuu and the rest of the minions at the same time (Rularuu throwing energy bolts at us while we fight the minions are not good).
Take out the minions and throw the -regen, a new set of shivans etc. Repeat what was done over.
Hopefully you should take the big sucker down.
Good luck on the attempt -
Thanks for the attempt. I tried listening to it but had to bail out due to that sound.
I hope there is someone out here that are able to remove that high pitched noise.
...
or someone that can make a transcript -
The event message will sometimes be inaccurate. Last try (2 weeks ago) we gathered together a bunch of us and started slaying ghost on the thorn isle (and near). We killed more then the required number and we did get the event message that he had spawned.
So we went on the search for him... "Oh Caleb, you can run, but you cannot hiiide!"... Well he did manage to elude us until daybreak.
So we hit them ghosts again.
Night time came, there was no event message, but we searched and searched, nothing.
So at next daybreak we slaughtered the ghosts again (narrow minded we? or determined, hellbent?.. yes)
Nighttime came again and we had no event message... and lo and behold one of our team mates found him. And we killed him.
Then the next night circle we saw once again the message that Caleb was spawned. I have a feeling he would be spawned 2 more nights in a row after first getting killed. (But that is me) -
Sounds good and I agree with Eat me, best non-committed thread.
Here is a screenie of my character if your mood takes you.
Lady Arete -
Gratulations Matt
Yea I was a bit.. "hmm will this work" on the pants... for the colored one myself. Think I'll make a character with those colors, but more of the secondary one.
And yes.. Goblin.. Dang.. that was awesome -
Thank you Mother.
And thank you everyone that participated on this raid. It was as Mother said, the cleanest, most efficient raid I've seen.
We took Hami down without any team wipes (meaning any running away before the Mito spawn). The Ranged decimated their targets and gave the yellow kill team a run for their money. But the Yellow team did a good job despite they having less then full team.
We began the raid with about 4 full team helping to spawn Hami, that is a good spirit.
The one thing we can do better though is the assembling of the teams. It took a bit of time there, but when we started... You ROCKED (and made me proud).
