Official Union Channel List

Since City of Heroes/Villains offers user-created global channels I thought making a channel database in the forums would create a better gaming experience and enhance social activity.
I hope the mods put this up as a sticky so everyone be it freshmeat or the veteran can look up information about channels. Of course you can also use the in-game interface for looking up. To do so right-click on your chat box and choose "Channel Search".


I will regularly update the list and add information. If you want a channel to be added just leave a response here including a short explanation about the channel what to do and what not.

Why should I join one ?
Why you shouldn't ? Playing this game alone is only half the fun furthermore you have to team up with others at some point. Also there is more than just regular teaming but you will find out yourself.

How can I join a chat channel ?
There are two ways either you are invited by a member of the channel or you simply type /chanjoin <channel name> to join the channel.

Alright I don't like this channel anymore. How do I leave it ?
Aww, you're not going to come back ? Just type in /chanleave <channel name> and you're out.

What about if I want to create my very own/private chat channel ?
It's just as easy as joining one. To create a channel type /chancreate <channel name>. For further and advanced information go to: Global Chat Player Guide

Description: Merged existing raid channels into one (Mothership Raid, Hamidon Raid and CoP Raid channel).
Restrictions: This is primarily for announcing Raids, discussion of raid tactics etc.

Channel name: Union TaskForce
Description: Major channel for everything Taskforce, Strikeforce and Events related. Organise or just chat about anything related to these.
Restrictions: Keep off-topic chat to a minimum when people are organising other events. Friendly banter welcome.

Channel name: sal's badgehunters
Description: Channel for the badges/accolades and other achievement addicted.
Restrictions: Keep off-topic Chatter to a minimum.

Channel name: Union Chat
Description: General chat channel for Union.
Restrictions: -

Description: Gather here to find mates for teaming and earning experience. Whether Hero, Villain or Co-op everyone is welcome.

Description: Discussion and assistance with storytelling, gameplay and roleplay between the Union server roleplayers.

Channel name: Archers Channel
Description: The channel for all that have either the skill set Archery and/or Trick Arrow. For any questions about related powers, slotting and such. It's also the home for the all archer/trick arrower team event nights
Restrictions: That you have the bow and arrows skills, that's really all.

Nice list so far, most of those im a member of already but didnt know about 3 of them. 1 of them i'll probs join tonight when i log in for some late night gaming

Not really a Union specific channel, know that there is some members over at Defiant. But none the less, Archer channel is for all that like to shoot arrows of different kinds. The channel have been running for about 3 years now and have 331 members.

I was under the impression

Sal's Badgehunters IS a public channel.
I cannot remember that it was a private channel, although I cannot be quite certain as I am not online 24/7 (What there was a time it became... I must have either forgotten it or not been online.)

Its policy is to be open for everyone.
It was created as a back up channel for the Union Badgehunter (UBH) when latter channel had some problems. Since then it has taken over UBH's role as the main channel for Badgehunters.
With badges being more easy to get (event channel) and Oreboros it doubles also as a TF channel.
Badge and TF creation talk has priority, but other chat is allowed (in moderation). As long as it do not drown badge/tf Talk.

I was hoping that the thread would have been stick'ied by now. Especially before Going Rogue. Anyway if you like this thread give it five stars !
Goal is to make those channels for everyone accessable.

To add to this list.
There will be alot of global channels (and we only got room for 10). So a few of us began thinking that hey... is it not more wise to have one raid channel?
Instead of 1 mothership channel, 1 hamidon channel and one CoP Channel (and more raid channels mostlikely to come?
Specially since those raids are rarely used. And we use broadcast to convey information anyway.

So Fatal made "Union Raids"
And I hope more of Union will be heading to this channel for Raids, aswell as Sals badgehunters, UTF and Union Chat.... and any other channel that is vital for the players

Description (long): One channel to rule them, one channel to find them, one channel to bring them all and on Union bind them.... errr. Instead of having one channel for just one raid and thus swamping your global list, a few of us thought it would be better with just ONE RAID channel. So this channel is the result of the existing Hamidon Raid channel, Mothership Raid channel and the short lived CoP channel. One channel for Raids, not matter how many raids we get in the future.

I do not think its that active any longer (since the members are in Sals badgehunters now)

Also, I'd suggest removing Mothership Raid Chat and Union Hamidon Raids since those are the channels that Union Raids was created to be used for those purposes?
