  1. Greetings heroic champions and villainous creatures,

I am not a 100% sure if this is the right section but I could not find any better.
Anyway, I thought about making bullet-point list for wanted changes, addition and fixes regarding the game engine, mechanics, items, characters, powers, world and all sorts of other additions. Pretty much everything.

I am going to put it into a more organised manner once I have collected ideas from the community aswell so feel free to share your thoughts here. Right now this is more like a brainstorming.

    List (work-in-progress):
    - re-vamp for old costume parts and their textures (to fit with newer ones; parts like beards and old hair look horrible)
    - more natural feel to faces, eye-blinking, mouth movement
    - several costume part additions like more belts, casual clothing (e.g. that do not clip with other parts like the tuxedo)
    - customisable power colours for kheldians
    - voice-change for your characters (small characters have the same voice is huge ones)
    - casual traveling powers like rollerskates, skateboard, inline-skates, bicycle, unicycle etc.
    - make-over for teleport power, add air-gliding (ice, fire, wind etc.)
    - new power-sets: air, water
    - make-over for Pocket-D, it feels like a warehouse not like a club, (add more dancers, different dancefloors, more lounges and other activities)add real furniture for use, leave the winterland always open, theme-designed rooms
    - more customisable hero/villain profiles, additions for roleplayers, add links to other websites, pick a theme score

Your additions are more than welcome. :-)

Also, I'd suggest removing Mothership Raid Chat and Union Hamidon Raids since those are the channels that Union Raids was created to be used for those purposes?
I agree, so I have updated the list and removed the "duplicates".

Indeed, I remember being invited by Mother's Love. Got me all excited then I noticed that people just talk about badges. :-)

There will be alot of global channels (and we only got room for 10). So a few of us began thinking that hey... is it not more wise to have one raid channel?
Instead of 1 mothership channel, 1 hamidon channel and one CoP Channel (and more raid channels mostlikely to come?
Specially since those raids are rarely used. And we use broadcast to convey information anyway.

    So Fatal made "Union Raids"
And I hope more of Union will be heading to this channel for Raids, aswell as Sals badgehunters, UTF and Union Chat.... and any other channel that is vital for the players
That sounds lovely. My list is already cramped.
Could you get him to fill out the form ? Or you just do it for him ? I can do it by myself aswell.
  6. I was hoping that the thread would have been stick'ied by now. Especially before Going Rogue. Anyway if you like this thread give it five stars !
Goal is to make those channels for everyone accessable.

If you have any new or other channels that should be added to the list, just post it here.

    So long.
  7. Since City of Heroes/Villains offers user-created global channels I thought making a channel database in the forums would create a better gaming experience and enhance social activity.
I hope the mods put this up as a sticky so everyone be it freshmeat or the veteran can look up information about channels. Of course you can also use the in-game interface for looking up. To do so right-click on your chat box and choose "Channel Search".

I will regularly update the list and add information. If you want a channel to be added just leave a response here including a short explanation about the channel what to do and what not.

    Here is the channel form:

    Channel name: ~
    Description: ~
Restrictions: ~ Off-Topic, Chatter appreciated, etc.
    How-to join: ~ Public/Private -> send PM to ~

Why should I join one ?
Why you shouldn't ? Playing this game alone is only half the fun furthermore you have to team up with others at some point. Also there is more than just regular teaming but you will find out yourself.

How can I join a chat channel ?
There are two ways either you are invited by a member of the channel or you simply type /chanjoin <channel name> to join the channel.

Alright I don't like this channel anymore. How do I leave it ?
Aww, you're not going to come back ? Just type in /chanleave <channel name> and you're out.

What about if I want to create my very own/private chat channel ?
It's just as easy as joining one. To create a channel type /chancreate <channel name>. For further and advanced information go to: Global Chat Player Guide

Never having played /Electric I can't really comment on the "feel" of the set; I've a friend who just leveled up an Electric/Shield scrapper that's a highly capable killing machine so it ought to work nicely.

I know the Stone/Fire combination works very well; even on straight SO enhancements it's up to any challenge the game can throw at you... I ran several STF's with him before I slotted my first IO. (He was rolled up in issue 6 and hit 50 long before IO's entered the game with issue 9)
I don't like Fire so much. So it's either Stone or Elec. Though I'm not sure about it since in Granite I'll get -66% Recharge that means Lightning Rod will take 150~ seconds without Hasten with Hasten it will be prolly ~50 seconds. For Stone Melee I would pick Tremor and/or Fault for AoE crowd control though KB is always a bad thing when you're trying to herd mobs. I don't want to mess up a nice herd :3 So any suggestions ? Think I'm going for Elec unless someone says that it doesn't do well with Stone Armour.

Probably about 40% of the time I'm tanking with one of my Stone tanks I'm running Rock Armor/Rooted/Stone Skin instead of Granite. Of course that sometimes leads to my downfall when I TP into a group that was just a little nastier than I'd expected and faceplant before I can swap to Granite

Secondaries for a Stoner... Stone Melee is the classic pairing but I'm not sure it's the ideal choice; it hits hard and has tons of soft control with all the Knockdown but it also has lengthy recharge on the attacks... something that's problematic with the -recharge debuff of Granite.

I've leveled two Stone tanks to 50, one a Stone/Energy Melee and the other Stone/Fire Melee. Based on those experiences let me recommend that you do NOT choose /Energy Melee... it was low damage with limited AOE prior to level 35 before the nerfs but Energy Transfer as a fast activating high damage attack redeemed it somewhat. Now, with the extremely slow animation on BOTH of the heavy hitter attacks it really doesn't have anything to recommend it anymore.

Stone/Fire on the other hand is a great combo; you have massive AOE damage AND very good single target damage at the expense of any control or damage mitigation. Since a mature Stone tank has no need of damage mitigation in the secondary this makes it an ideal pairing. As an added bonus Fire is also fairly light on endurance... much more so than Stone Melee or Energy Melee.

If you were referring to ELECTRIC Melee with EM, and I'm assuming you were since you mentioned AOE specifically, then that should also be a valid choice, similar in performance to Fire Melee. I haven't actually played one but from seeing what it can do as a Scrapper set it ought to be a good choice.
Thanks for the response. That's what I was thinking. Stone has some neat other defences and I like adapting to specific situations etc.
Yup sorry for the confusion I usually say NRG for Energy and EM for Electric Melee. I like EM because it has some sort of crowd control. Not sure about the recharge on the powers but from what I've seen on my stalker it seems okay. Any suggestions ?
  10. Oh I think I can scrap DM. Has good utility but Fear and Tentacles are not AoE crowd control.
  11. Hello there !
Thinking about making a stone tank. I have heard that I don't have to necessarly always be in granite to tank. Is that right ?
If it is - I'm thinking about picking SM,EM or DM as my secondary. I only consider DM as a secondary because it has an extra heal but it lacks AoE :/ . SM perfectly fits to my hero theme and EM well it could fit aswell and it has sweet AoE too.
If you ask me what type of tank I want to be I'll answer that I want to be tough and versatile. Stone seems to offer good defense and resistance pretty much against anything.

Thanks in advance for your help guys ! :3
  12. Thanks for all the replies. Your idea sounds interesting AP but I don't want to rely on fear so much since if I miss I'm pretty much dead. Furthermore I kind of liked being the big dark blob too much.

Shannon - I thank you a lot for the detailed explanation. But it still leaves me pretty much clueless. I just found my build I did once on mids but it is based on the current one I'm using kind of. I think I need some help with choosing powers so that the build fits to what I am trying to accomplish. I want a buff tanker who can pretty much run in and take care of all the aggro. I mainly picked DM to debuff my foes and make it harder for them to hit me.

    Here's my build:

  13. Well if there's an Invul or Stone Tanker in the team they always make them tank instead of me. For obvious reasons. I'm gonna post my build - it's my first and unfinished still have some work to do but I want to know if I get the idea right so far.

    http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/7093/nostbuild.jpg
  14. It all started with trying to pick another good tank other than stone. Kind of getting tired of the many rocks you see running around.
So I got him to Lv. 39 and I was lucky enough to never be the main tank - in the missions the times I were: oh my. Have Acrobatics for stuffing the KB hole thinking about dropping 3 DM powers to get Tough and Weave. And in advance yes I do use my Dark Regeneration very often ...

Been trying to adjust my playstyle reading a lot of posts on the forums on both sides of the planet still I remain confused and desperate. I'm not so familiar with all the paperwork but I'm trying my best to keep up.
Any suggestions ? I really feel like deleting a toon for the very first time and maybe rolling a Invul/DM tank or something else that isn't so popular.
Unless you guys can help a sinking tanker out there.
My expectations where that I would have a decent well-rounded tanker with no psi-hole. But it seems like I'm just one fluffy scrapper.
  15. Update:
Problem solved. I have no idea how, why or when. I think it was just a bug or something. Works fine now - thanks for the help !
  16. Thanks for the replies. But I NEVER install my games into the default windows folders. Always have my very own one. So my problem still remains -sighs-. And I never run any programs in adminstrator mode unless I'm very desperate !
  17. [ QUOTE ]
If memory serves (and I'll get FFM to verify, as I don't currently use Vista), you need a few things to install CoH properly on Vista, and the first is that you need to run the install with Administrator rights (which you have to turn ON, since they're off by default). I also believe that Vista dislikes installing software to certain root directories.

    More details soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I do ? How do I do that ? And Vista smells !
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    hey pixels

I'm not great on vista but some things that may affect the instillation of the game are your user rights

Its probably the case that you need to be a administrator or what ever the Vista equivalent is to install

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Did that too, nothing happened.
  19. Hello there,
For some odd reason it doesn't let me install the game on my laptop with Vista.
    I get the following error:
Whenever I launch the CoH Updater I get an error which says that there was an error opening the file and as a eventual problem it says that either I don't have enough space or not writing rights at this location. To exclude those I checked the space - I have more than 50 GB left. Moreover I disabled Kaspersky Internet Security, added the updater and the TMP file to trusted files.
Still nothing. Also I tried copying my entire CoH folder on my laptop but it also tries to install the game with no success.

Any suggestions how to fix it ?

Yup yup ! Furthermore the weather was anything but sunny so you cannot blame that either !

Nonetheless it was a hilarious event. I think we extinguished a whole Frost Lord population !

Best wishes from the Union Server group - The shot was taken after the very last anniversary archvillain takedown. (For the record: it was Ghost Widow)

    Thanks to everyone who participated.
Though special thanks to the devs who celebrated with us 5 years of contemporary fairytale making.

    Hooray City of Heroes !
  23. Hello there,
I was thinking about starting my own brute for pure brawling ! Friend of mine suggested going SS and Invul because I like hand-to-hand combat. But during my costume test runs I stumbles across Battle Axe and I have to admit it looks quite powerful too.
Though what about the praxis ?
It seems like the cooldowns are slow, meaning most of the time I will be standing around and do nothing.
Furthermore are there any unlockable additional weapons ?
But mainly I am interested on what the powers actually look like. Anyone got a BA Brute or Tanker to show off ?
Because if it is just some silly waving with a metal rod then I'd rather stick with the earth-shaking SS but if it is all loud, shakey and brawly I am gladly up for becoming a amateur axesmith.

    Thanks in advance
  24. Hehe, yay ! I'm glad that you like it. Probably going to work on the new issue this week - I've been a bit busy with exams lately, so no time for creative work .

Anyway, I've uploaded it on imageshack.us for those who are having problems - Enjoy !
