Quote:And then he stopped the aliens from stealing our nitrogen, and invented quantum cheese.Besides the awards and accolades I've won for language arts, I've won national and regional awards for my filmmaking and video work. Three of those is for documentary films. Both recent versions of iMovie and FCP incorporated changes that I suggested to Apple. (You're welcome.) I also won some website design awards about 12 years ago before I lost interest in that type of work, but I'm belaboring the point.
Today he stands ready to malaproposly regurgitate a border line solipsistic list of accolades to further digress a discussion about on the impending degradation of other individuals' cyber anima. Truly a divine exhibit for all egocentric dullards.

Quote:Actually unless you log into a character named FloatingFatMan after the merge you will not be FloatingFatMa.Unfortunately, as I own @FloatingFatMan on an inactive US trial account, that stands a good chance of happening.
The steps for global are this:
1. remove global from conflicting EU accounts
2. on login set global to chosen character's name
3. if conflict with new global remove last letter
4. if conflict repeat step 3
Somewhere between 1 and 4 you also have a global rename token issued, so you can rename your self @FloatingFatMa if you don't login into a super named FloatingFatMan. -

Maybe I'm not the brightest villain but turning someone into a glowing god to see if it kills them seems like a bad idea. Seem you would want to capture, break mind, then test super serum to reduce chances of having to fight someone you just gave an unspecified amount of raw power to.
-
Didn't they patch out an unintended 6 costume option for VEATs.
Seems the game can handle extra costume slots already if I am remembering right we just need someone on the UI side of the house to add a scroll bar to the costume box. -
I was hoping they would be like this as well.
But with the number of them the resistance takes and reprograms with no mention of people bits I think it's not to be. -
Quote:It's kinda hard to show a grand evil multi tiered master plan in 1 mission though. Not according to most villain tips.
"Oh look a thing. This thing points to that person. I know! I'll go beat them up for laughs! That'll show them."
We need some decently talented AE writers to offer up custom M.P. missions.
The way I imagine this would work is you contact the AE writer and given him you evil plot. You let him know what you want to be in the story and let him add to it and flesh it out. Then you pay him some inf and play out the mission.
The down side of this is time the upside is that since you didn't write everything yourself it's relatively fresh. -
Quote:Does B.A.J. have variable speed control?Come to think of it, the Clockwork King is likewise a brain in a jar, capable of animating thousands of minions simultaneously. Is Paragon City big enough for two brains in a jar?
Or are there even more?
Is it common among the ladies laying out on the beach to comment to one another, "OMG, it's one of those Brain in a Jar Dudes staring at us!" ?
Further complicating things is the fact that a good number of the female heroes running about are Guys In Real Life.
It just gets so complicated for a Brain In A Jar Dude... -
I thought the point of kill most was not to hunt down the runners.

Quote:I kinda figured that's what that smell was.No, I knew I was correct; it's easier to just to copy and paste rather than get in a long, pointless argument. Whatever it is you're good at, I'm better at spelling and grammar than you are at that. I also have brown eyes. These are not meant as braggadocio but as simple axiomatic facts.

Quote:Had to look it up to make sure you didn't flub it then?I used "speak" in the colloquial sense of understanding a language and communicating same.
To wit:

[speek] Show IPA ,verb, spoke or ( Archaic ) spake; spo·ken or ( Archaic ) spoke; speak·ing.
verb (used without object)
1. to utter words or articulate sounds with the ordinary voice; talk: He was too ill to speak.
2. to communicate vocally; mention: to speak to a person of various matters.
3. to converse: She spoke with him for an hour.
4. to deliver an address, discourse, etc.: to speak at a meeting.
5. to make a statement in written or printed words.

Quote:Why not change folder permissions to allow limited access accounts to modify the CoH folder?Question. And I hope I can get a definitive answer here.
I have several XP user accounts my kids use. They are set to Limited User accounts. While they can play City, they have never been able to update City due to the permission restrictions. I am always having to log into an admin account to do the updates.
Now, here is the NCSoft Launcher. I thought I'd give it a try on a Limited User account. When I did and there was a patch needing to be downloaded, I get this error message:
"The NCSoft Launcher does not have permission to modify files in the following folder(s) and probably won't be able to update the game(s) installed there:
Reinstalling these games with their latest installers is the simplest way to grant permissions to modify these folders."
Now, before I spend hours redownloading and installing City, I want to make sure that what I am understanding from the message is true: Will reinstalling the game with the latest installer allow patches to be downloaded and applied in Limited User accounts? Because that's certainly what that message is implying.
Thanks! -
Where EU accounts chosen for rename because they were the half effected that could most easily be contacted?
Seems like the global name issue was just given the same treatment as account names after it was decided they wanted to modify the side they could more easily inform, instead of being a separate issue. -

Quote:And if your global is shared by a person who has had an account longer then you and is active? You make it sound so simple. So I have access to 11 more servers? Wow, thanks. Who says I will play on them? Who says anyone will? I haven't even filled my slots on my own server, never mind Union. (nothing against you unionites!)
My Global name is me on CoH. it's also me on Steam as it happens. Oh I get a mention on Facebook thanks to my global name too. People outside the game call me MC on occassion as well. Oh, wait, what's this? A completely non CoH related forum and I use the same name there too!
Many of the people I know on MSN, FB and Steam know me as my Global name. It's ME online since I started playing this game over 5 years ago. It's like having your name taken away from you, your personality, your nom de guere. Your identity. Some guy set up a trial account (hell, it might have even been me, I did try CoH US on a trial account years ago) with my global name 4 years ago and hasn't played since, or got bought the game as a present in 2006 and played for his first month then went back to WoW and hasn't even logged in since then on a free weekend, yet I could lose my CoH identity to him? NOT COOL.
An Active account should take priority over a non active account (possibly if it's been inactive for over 90 days?) IF the active account has a longer active account status? If someone has let their NCSoft master account details lapse and hasnt changed them so they can't be contacted, then TOUGH! If they don't have any active NCSoft games then TOUGH. They seem to be more worried about potential returnees rather than active paying customers. ALSO NOT COOL. -
Quote:I was wrong initially. BABs was talking about "cartoony gems" indeed, which implies that it looks bad more so than that it looks unrealistic. I actually rather doubt that, myself, but he is (was) the graphics designer in the house. Hence my response - if it looks bad, make a better version, instead of limiting colour selection.
When I was shown what they looked like I thought they were kinda cool myself. -
Quote:I remember when they talked to us before hand, rethought their position, changed some things, and then were accused of being underhanded for it.The potential issue highlighted by the recent Play NC security updates and now this is - NC Soft seems to think the players are peons who can be treated as NC Soft wants and they'll just shut up, sit down, and take it. And that clearly there's no need to discuss anything with those peons about how they'd like it, because, well, they're just peons. It's not like there's any competition out there where these peons can take their money.
OK, here's a suggestion that will be summary ignored, probably get this post deleted and maybe get my account suspended, but here goes.
TALK TO US. BEFORE IT'S A FAIT ACCOMPLI. In spite of what sometimes seems the best efforts of those setting policy, you've got a highly loyal membership, many of which are very smart, have a variety of expertise in areas such as consumer handling, management, security, and more. All the feedback you've gotten on the security change and this way of combining NA & EU and most of the feedback on the launcher could have been gotten in time to do something.
I'm not saying give the "community voice" a veto (particularly since the community rarely speaks with one voice), just collect the feedback early enough that it's possible to incorporate it and seriously consider the feedback. Worst case - you'll figure out what the objections are to your plan and be prepared with explanations about why you did what you did and be prepped for dealing with the side effects. Best case - you get ideas you hadn't consider and are able to make your customers happier. And if nothing else,
Yes, this won't be possible for everything. Creative decisions clearly need the view of the creator, you don't want to take a poll on whether the coming storm is the work of Nemesis, Fifth Column, whoever it is that really hates Kheldans, or Yet Another Marcus Cole. Some responses to the competition need to be private, announcing that you're considering Free Play or negotiating a license with Marvel to use their characters storyline would clearly be wrong. And an emergency security issue that needs handling now can't wait.
But just like you use customers as free testing and consider that feedback as you tweak what you do there, use us to improve the way the company deals with us. It seems that, in every interview, you talk about the incredible community you've got. If you believe it, use it.
After the way the we responded to the forum rule changes I'd devalue or input on policy as well.
Quote:As always with City of Heroes, no good deed goes unpunished.
Give a group of players something they have been asking for for years, but tell them that in the process a small number of them might have to make a concession because of it, and suddenly that benefit that they have been asking for for years is seen as a slap in the face.
Yes, it stinks that some European players will have their global names altered - I would be disappointed if it happened to me too - but isn't that kind of a small sacrifice to make for access to, what... 11 more servers?
The problem I see with this is the more complicated the solution the greater chance of error. -
Quote:That should be a TF/Trial or two. Now, here's an interesting angle. We know the Well doesn't work with people. It controls people. Cole being the Well's champion is basically saying that Cole is the Well's puppet. And really... we don't know how that happened. Did he willingly give himself up to the Well, or was he just looking for more power, and chose the wrong method? Is he the major villain in this case, or could he be considered another victim?
How much of Cole is left in the villain we now face?
See, this is how I'd work the supporters of Emperor Cole into the progressing story line: He's not himself any more, the Well has taken too much from him, in giving him his godlike powers. The charismatic man who could make you believe and trust him is no more. The human who could be reasoned with is lost within the Well. Those who once wished to stand by his side must first stop his dark ambitions, and purge the influence of the Well.
Save the Emperor, before all is lost. -

Quote:Some people are going to claim they were born incarnates...Well, now that you mention it....
Seriously, it makes no sense for pieces that are supposed to graphically represent the splendor and power of the Incarnate be available to level 10s. Having certain auras and pieces available only to Incarnates would be great IMO and provide an immediate (but optional) way to show that a character has ascended. -
Quote:I thought that died when he got to shields and weapons. It's such a shame that BABs left the company. He had such a passion for animation and, among other things, the removal of redraw from all weapon powers in cases when a weapon attack could be executed, but still leaving it in in instances where an attack couldn't happen, letting us draw weapons if we wanted to still.
This would have been an amazing change but, like additional Dual Pistols models, it looks like his leaving killed it dead.
