I don't believe it's a recipe, once you buy it with the candy canes, it applies a respec to your character. Also, it works like a free respec, so if you already have one on your character, it will not allow you to purchase the candy cane one.

As in the case lastnight, I didnt want to start inviting people and then lead them into a mission where we all get wiped out inside of 20 seconds.
If the team is all around your level, then start off with your missions. Ask if anyone has missions they'd like to run. You can see the level of the mission in the mission list.

If it logs you out, and is not just a mapserver, there are some other variables missing here, since for me it seems to work as always. I wasn't in TF/Ouroboros mode either, just a regular Papermission from Grandville.
Yesterday I was in a regular mission from a contact and went afk for 2 hours. When I came back, I was still logged in. Later I went afk on the hill in Talos and got the /afk message over my head, then the warning beep and popup box. So it appears to be working correctly.

Normally this isn't something I think people would consider to test, but. . .think about when you are hunting down fake nemesis in PI, or trying to get marcone bosses in Port Oaks. Do you not usually make a bigger team, because it SEEMS like they spawn more. (I say seems because I'm not positive they do. . .)

The other thing I was wondering about. . .this is mainly to make sure it gets tested. How will it work with Task Forces/Strike Forces?
For Example, say you are going to run a LGTF, but you just can't seem to get that last person, will you be able to set it to spawn for 8, and be good to go? what if you have 6, or 5, or you want to try it solo!? These are all things that need to be tested . . .on several task forces that require a range of People to begin.

Further more. . .say that setting it to 8 doesn't work to START it. . .I remember long long ago you could get a team on a TF, then everyone could QUIT, and just leave one person on a task force. This has since been fixed. However, what if everyone quits but 1, and the last person is set to a 2 man spawn? Will he/she be left on the team, or will it auto kick him as it did Pre-i16?

I sorta have to wonder though if these can be tested without a response from the devs first. If they simply don't want you running it solo because it would be to easy for the reward. . .that would no longer apply if it is set to spawn for 2 would it? Which you can do on ANY task force currently, should you so choose. As for the setting it for an 8 man spawn to start it. . .you could just turn it back down again once you are started. But then again, you could have also just gotten a padder.
I do know that for the TF question, the requirements for a TF will not change because of the difficulty tools. So if it's a TF for 8, then you have to have 8, no matter what your settings are. I'll try to find the posting where this was addressed, but with the Dev Digest not working, it's not as easy.

    Found it:

Let's say an arc begins at level 1.

Some missions are intended for level 5.

I gain level 10, before I get to these missions. Now I've outgrown them.

Can I skip them and pick up the arc from a later mission or is it lost to me and I should Ouroboros it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're in the arc ( the book icon appears in the contact window) then you will have to complete it to clear it. The arcs do have a level max ( the same as the contact's max level). So if you were doing an arc in the 5-10 range, didn't finish it, and came back to the contact at level 30, you'd still have to complete the missions and they would be set at level 10.
If you use Ouroboros, you will not complete your unfinished arc, but will start a new flashback from the beginning.
The good news is that even though you get no XP or rewards from very old arcs, you will get the merits on arc completion.

This also illustrates the answer to the question that seems to come up every so often: If I delete my only 50 hero/villain, can I still create a Kheldian/Soldier? If the flag gets reset on your account, then no, you won't be able to!

Just FYI, this is pretty standard with most MMOs. Blizzard won't reimburse you, nor will SOE for hacked accounts.

It is imperative as others have said that you do not use any risky net behavior. The chance of someone randomly targetting you just through an ip trace or random port pings is next to nil. It is usually done through malicious programming or tactics to get your account information, such as the ones the gold sellers use.

I've been playing MMOs for approx 10 years, and I've never lost an account or been compromised in any game.

It's unfortunate about the information sites, but its a risk in any industry.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That just reminded me of my old WoW account. I played the game for one whole month then came back to CoH.

I uninstalled the game, canceled my account, deleted my credit card info and left their world for good.

About a year later I get an e-mail from Blizzard. "Your account has been banned for using a bot"

    o.O?

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

I hadn't touched the game in a year, long after my 6 month account had lapsed. I hadn't gone to any fan-sites that could have had a keylogger; so the only thing I could figure is they either fudged something up in their security or someone got into my account somehow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got a similar email from them. I had the trial, hated it and never upgraded. About a year later I get an email from them saying my account was banned for prohibited activity. I replied to them to tell them the account had to have been accessed fraudulently, since I had never upgraded it. I got a response that the decision could not be appealed. I explained that I wasn't appealing it, that they could ban, delete, or blow up the account for all I cared, just that somehow the account was hacked. I got another email from a senior GM that their prior response was the final decision and the account would not be restored...I gave up after that....

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Wow. . . .seriously, wow.

Makes me glad I didn't do anything more than laugh, shrug my shoulders, delete the e-mail and laugh some more.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought I was being helpful, that they would want to know when an account was being used in a fraudulent manner, but at least it showed me how poor their customer service staff was, and made me glad I never subscribed.

So, in other words, you get the most people playing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it's because you get the most people playing.
  18. Basically it's mixing and matching IO's in different sets to get the most bang for your buck. The downside is since you never have all of one set in a power, you won't get the set bonuses.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
The mission that unlocks the Science Store contact in Brickstown contains Rikti, if you prefer a non-hazard zone / instanced alternative.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I use this option on any character that can't handle the hazard zone sized spawns, even a mob of monkeys can be deadly!
  20. Are you sure you didn't get the merits? I've been hit with the crash on exit bug, and when I logged back in, I didn't get any notification of a merit award, but my total merits had changed.
So now when I run a TF, I look to see how many merits I have at the start, so if I crash at the end, I can see if I got the merits.

I really am not happy about having to burn through 2 earned respecs just to get one. It would be nice if they added rather than lose what you have.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I never have understood the whole freespec/respec thing. Can someone explain to me (like i'm a noob) exactly what happens if I have, let's say, made a respec recipe but haven't used it; what happens to that? Do I lose it or do I have 2 respec's available. Also, same question for respec trials if I claimed the respec.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK...here goes...there are 2 types of respecs in the game, earned and free. Earned respecs stack, you get them from the respec trials, vet rewards, respec recipes and from the 1st Patron arc for villains. They are all redeemed the same way, by visiting a contact in Galaxy (heroes) or Nerva (villains).
Free respecs are granted by the devs for various reasons: major power changes or anniversary celebrations are the most common. They do NOT stack, think of the free respec as a toggle on your character...it's either on or off. The grant sets everyone's toggle to on...if yours was on already, then nothing happens. You claim this respec by either typing /respec or visiting the above contacts.

I have another question: This article mentioned about characters under level 6 or so. What would cause a level 17 character's name to become unreserved?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since they have not run the script yet that unreserves the names, the only names that would be unreserved now would be from the last time they did this. At that time, any character under level 35 that was on an inactive account for 90 days was subject to getting their names claimed. So a level 17 character from back then could have lost his name.

Funnily enough, I never noticed the invasions were turned off.

Okay, time to ask an incredibly stupid question. I had a name for one of my characters, then stopped playing for about a year due to various reasons. Came back, and had to get a new name. If this frees up my old name (assuming it does), how would I go get it back?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You would purchase a rename token, or credit and apply it to your account. When you do this you may then try to capture the name you lost supposing it is available.

    Ex

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why do you have to purchase the rename token before finding out if the name is available?

If I paid $10 because I wanted to change my name to Dorkfish and then found it was taken and I didn't want any other name other than Dorkfish or my original, why am I being charged $10 when I make no change?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you go look on the Training Room, you'll see that they have added a "check name" button, so you can check to see if Dorkfish is available before you ever buy the token. By the way, it's not...
