  1. The text field editors in MArc have some of the same glitches that have plagued this game since launch. Cursor jumps off the edge of a cliff, can't always backspace up to a previous line. It doesn't always believe you when you click in the field.

And then there's the perpetual problem that certain fingers hit the keys faster than other fingers and manage to royally barf-up the words I'm trying to type.

    Yeah.

    Yeah, they get advertisements.

    100KB Limit

What is pushing you over the limit? Custom critters? How many do you need to make useable opponents? Are all the enemies Custom?

Costumes are especially problematic. Set all color options that are not in use (or not visible) in a particular costume piece to Black since the files store it in an RGB value. This will reduce the file size significantly.

    Oh, please.

The title says: "Hall of Fame is not realistically attainable," right?

Well, we have one as of this morning. It was attained within the first week. It was attained within the first 6 days. It was attained within the first 140 or so hours.

If things continue at the same established pace, then the first month should have 4, the first quarter should have 12, the first year should have 48.

It's meant to be hard to get. I certainly don't expect to ever see any of mine get there. That said, one in the first week does not equal the "Hall of Fame . . . not [being] realistically attainable."

Stop cheerleading. The guy was wrong in his main point. You saying "NUH UH!" doesn't change that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If my single solitary post on this thread is cheerleading to you then I really hate to see what your definition of "moderate support of a theory" is.

I asked a question. You didn't answer it. How many HoF arcs are up right now? 1 in a week? Please, I've been playing this game long enough to know that THAT small of a number is microscopic. How quickly did we have a level capped hero at game launch? How 'bout a villain? How quickly did we get a level 50 VEAT? The only one of those that took longer than a week was the first, and that's only because nobody yet knew how to game the system. MArc gaming has been pretty obvious since the get-go.

Now, once we know how many HoF arcs are up, how many are remaining HoF in anything resembling a stable manner? If they are bouncing on and off the list like the one mentioned in this thread, that is not a realistically attainable goal. That's more of a realistically teaseable goal.

Some times I forget how terrible these forums are for cheerleading and then I post for the first time in months and you all jump out of the woodwork.

The OP's point has been proven incorrect in that we have a HoFer in less than a week. Is it working as well as we'd like? No, but that doesn't make the OP suddenly correct.

The lesson of the CoH forums? It's all right to [censored], but don't [censored] about the bitchers or you'll be [censored] at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The OP has only been proven incorrect if the game only has 100 players. How many HoF entries are there right now?
  6. Or just drag and drop the missions in the top panel to rearrange them. That's less work and less prone to accidental deletion hijinks.
  7. Arc Name: Luna Rising
    Arc ID: 16834
    Morality: Villainous
    Creator Global/Forum Name: @jdotmi/Kung Ru
Difficulty Level: Solo (Low Level arc, 10-16 / 11-20 range in missions due to escorts/allies)
Synopsis: Longbow has been more active than usual in Cap Au Diable and interfering in the plans of the villain group known as Luna Incognito.
Estimated Time to Play: 30 - 60 minutes
Enemies: Longbow, Wyvern, Terra Incognito (Custom group with an EB at the end)
Link to More Details or Feedback: http://community.livejournal.com/coh_ma/4431.html

This is the first of three planned arcs dealing with the battles between Luna Incognito and Terra Incognito.
  8. My female Witches would like to keep their dignity intact. O_o That outfit is, uh, a bit too revealing.
  9. Depending on your group makeup, pull Romulus away from all the Nictus (keep a tank taunting them away) and then down him (he's cake away from his healer). Then continue the same pattern.

My group took down the buffer, then focused on Romulus three times. Worked like a charm once we did that.

Let me again clarify that I'm happy to be given a gift. There was no reason they HAD to give a freespec out, but the fact remains that they did.

Also, you're wrong on one point. I don't have to wait a week. I have to wait a week in ADDITION to the time I've already been waiting since discovering that I did not in fact have to spend time remaking a toon and regrinding to 50 just to fix some powers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I cannot believe you posted all that. Including everything after my eyes glazed over. I've played this game since launch. I played Regen when you didn't even become survivable until Instant Healing (at which point it became God Mode). There were no such things as "Repsecs" when I started playing. We knew they were coming, but we also knew we had to wait. I remade characters left and right because of errors in power choices at that time. Guess what? I got over it. All of your posts have been "whine whine whine, moan moan moan, this is inconveniencing MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!11!". At least, that's how they read to me. And you act all surprised that people are calling you on it. You're either very young or very spoiled, I can't decide which.

Yes, it would have been great if the freespec came at launch of the Issue. Of course, they haven't ever done it that way before, but it woulda been nice for them to completely change how they do it just this one time.
  11. Wait, why are you complaining about the lack of a respec? Because you have to wait a week? For a free respec? And you're making this big a stink about it?

    Wow.
  12. Because this particular FAQ originated on LiveJournal.

Although, hey, shiny new digs! New people to shake a ban-stick at! Hope the new job and community treat you good!
  14. We could even get evil versions of Hero exploration badges. Not a lot else we could do, but we could do that much. Some of them have wound up in other places.
  15. I did my first Mayhem Mission this morning as Dancing Diva (Energy Melee/Invulnerability Brute) at level 5. First problem: The "door" was the submarine at the far north end of Port Oakes. At level 5, that's virtually a suicide run. I had to rest on the submarine because I had 1/8th of my bar left when I got there. I'd say ditch that door and put it almost anywhere else in Port Oakes and I'd be fine. The mission took place in a portion of Atlas Park.

Got inside. Destructable objects! Although... cars were all level 10... some other things were level 9... I never got a time bonus off a car or crate or barrel, but every bus stop, pay phone, and newspaper stand I hit gave me time. Well, for the first street. Then only the police spawns did.

I kept looking for alternate objectives, but couldn't find any, so I went into the bank and did the heist. My "boss" was a Lieutenant (Villainous difficulty). Probably would have been a boss on a higher difficulty. She was actually pretty easy as a brute. I dinged 6 in the midst of all that.

I then explored after escaping the bank. I found a couple Skulls who were merilly blasting the pedestrians to no effect. Beat them up and took their keys, but no new objectives actually appeared on the map. I accidentally clicked on the Police Department door and wound up inside. Managed to free an Ice Corruptor who took great joy in blasting the citizenry ineffectually for the rest of the time I wandered around.

All in all, it was slightly disappointing. I had virtually no inspirations to use, as I didn't actually get any to drop until I was done with the main mission, and what I did get I didn't need. The AI for the helper needs help. Such as ignoring the pedestrians since they can't actually be killed and attacking destructables when I am doing so. My "Boss" was sorta anti-climactic, but at that level I would expect it to be.

I'm going to try one again tonight with my Mastermind and see how that plays out. I'm thinking setting my pets to "Passive" is going to be the only way to get anything done.
  16. Quick observation from my run in on the Hero side of things.

And I realize this is a nitpick, but it was the first thing I thought of when I found out where the entrance was.

Portal Corp technology is notoriously unstable. Is it really the smartest idea in the world to shove a portal underneath Atlas Park? Especially putting it right next to Azuria's office! Because, ya know, nothing bad ever happens to anything near her or anything (sarcasm? why yes!)... I get the idea that Freedom Corp wants to keep a tight lid on it, but if that portal ever starts to become unstable, it's going to blow a hole in one of the few places that most of the residents of Paragon City actually feel safe!

Of course, the Villain side of me loves it. Perfect place to bust through and take over.
  17. [ QUOTE ]

This will lead to more team deaths/debt. It's mathematically impossible NOT to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I seriously doubt that. The problem with only using numbers and math is you ignore the entire strategy aspect and human beings behind keyboards involved. In a tank-less group, stock up on a few orange pez for alphas. Crazily enough, they work. Adapt to your situations. It's mathematically proven* that adapting to different team configurations leads to fewer deaths!

*As mathematically proven as your assessment, at least.

    +0 = MUCH worse
    +1 = MUCH worse
    +2 = Slightly worse
    +3 = Slightly better

    [/ QUOTE ]

I second the call for this to be addressed directly, specifically, and posthaste by a redname.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're joking, right? I can handle even level minions and lieutenants on any character without turning on a single toggle or using a single debuff. (Except Sappers, of course) If I was intensely bored, I could only attack with Brawl and still come out ahead. +1's I rarely use all my toys for. +2 and +3 are where it starts to get fun, and +3 is going to be easier ultimately with this change.

A full group of 8 is going to be doing a minimum of +2's if not +3's and higher. Yes, before Issue 7 it's going to be noticeably harder, but after that... Well, barring defense scaling amounting to "anything higher level than you auto-hits you" this is actually going to be an improvement. Yeah in PvP you still have Aim/Buildup/YellowPez to deal with, but that's not going to change without completely re-doing the system.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Much like you can't go through CoH and get every contact. You get some of them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

CoV is DRASTICALLY different than COH in this regard. Wanna know why? Because each and every contact in COV has at least 1 story arc that is entirely unique to that contact.

COH contacts are assigned an "origin" and each "origin" has a story arc associated with it. You can get the same story arc from two different contacts in COH, as a matter of fact. They will be on different characters, but they will be the same story arcs. If you read your Souveneirs from lower levels in COH, they reference "your contact" and never name the contact. At higher levels, however, there is only one contact per origin/story arc, and it sometimes will name them (especially the post 40 story arcs). The COV story arcs do name the contact who gives them, though.

Sorry about this screw up. I wanted you guys to test it before it went to Live to see if it made MM's too powerful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's all good, Positron. If this overpowers us, I'll gladly take a small decrease in our damage output. As long as it remains higher than what it was before. I was fine with what it was before, any increase is just gravy in my book.

That said, I have played a /Regen Scrapper since launch. If I see so much of a hint of "Tweak = Small Change" or any variant thereof aimed towards Masterminds my Undead Army will be disassembling your armor piece by piece.

    Just sayin'...

It now has been stated. Positrons post makes it clearly a bug.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My frustration isn't directed at you, per se, but at the fact that fixing bugs should be pretty black & white: if it's a known bug, fix it. But there seems to be some stalling here. They are concerned that MM's would be too powerful if the enh's affected the upgraded powers. This seems intentional. Why test the fix at all if it's a genuine bug in the game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

What stalling? Positron told us about this in BETA, as well as told us that there wasn't enough time to get it fixed and tested during beta to be fixed when the game went live. We found out about it around, oh, 6 or 7 days before beta ended.

Those of us who had been in the beta have been saying this since day 1. That's why it wsa posted on day 1 that this bug existed because we knew it was being looked at and fixed.

And if Positron posting that it is a bug isn't enough to convince you that it is a genuine bug, please quit reading the forums because they obviously will never do you any good.

You know the interesting thing is they are saying we're lying by saying that it never had Psi Defense aren't they? I mean I've yet to see a regenner post anything but that it most certainly did have Psi defense and yet here they are saying it never did. Interesting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just popping in to clear up a misconception. This bit is really a semantic issue. We have an Attribute that applies +Defense to Psionic. We usually refer to this as "Psionic Defense" and do not consider other forms of +Defense that MAY cover Psionics. Turning on The Way Back Machine (thanks to Mr. Peabody and Sherman for allowing its use!) to the very first Live version of the data, I see that Moment of Glory did, in fact, offer +Defense to EVERYTHING because it modified Base Defense. Smashing, Lethal, Ranged, Hamidon -- everything. That was TOO effective. So, at some point (I'm not going through hundreds of revisions to fin out when) MoG was changed so that it only covered the bits desired.

So, if we were lying to you, it was an error of omission, rather than an act of malice. When we get a PM saying "Why did you remove Psionic Defense from MoG?" we check specifically for +Psi Def. Sometimes we have the time to do more in depth reseach into changes, but most often we do not.

Whether or not the 'Hole' in Psionic protection makes the power 'gimped' isn't a discussion I am going to get into, however.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The "when" had to have been during Issue 6. Maybe Issue 5. I was using it in Issue 4 to avoid Psy damage.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I was quite annoyed about the stealth nerf to MoG too. I used it to tank against Carnies and Countess Crey, ya think I don't know it had Psy defence? The only reason I used it was so the damn carnie bosses couldn't sap me and then kill me with their psy powers and it actually made Countess Crey miss me the entire time it was on.

Oh well. I'll go enjoy my Mastermind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was the great thing about MoG in I3. It was risky, but reasonable. MoG had it's crash at the beginning and at the end you could heal up while still protected. I too remember going up against a Carnie Boss and using MoG (because I was too lazy to go back and buy lucks).

I KNOW it had Psi defense. Dangerous to use, but it was there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was literally the only way I survived my first Carnie mission. I had read all the stories about Carnie bosses and thought "nah, I'll be fine!" and then I was dead faster than I could realize my END bar had stopped working.

So I MOG'd it. They didn't even touch me once. And I saw all sorts of pink flying stuff coming at me during that fight.

And I did the same thing to Psychic Clockwork King later in a group.
