I do wish I didn't have to waste a power to get tough though, my build was pretty tight already, but I recognize the need for extra s/l resist.

This was my first brute, and my first melee period, I didn't know about tough and weave when I was leveling until I ran into the brick wall of level 40+ enemies, where I started getting shredded, and when I looked at the forum for advice.

This was pre-i15, and I haven't looked at this character since.

Like I already said, I had nothing in the fighting pool, nothing in the medicine pool, no energize at the time, and no set bonuses. I was at 0% def.

Yeah, I skipped conserve power before, and after getting my first patron pool power, and finding out how squishy I was compared to other brutes, I knew I needed to pick a pool, medicine or fighting. Energize lets me get fighting, which I was leaning towards anyways. It's also one of my favourite heals, fitting elec armor very well. End discount + health regen and a moderate heal, the cooldown can be lowered to something very reasonable, and I can actually save power surge for those oh **** situations rather than, every time it's off cooldown.

Before I got energize, depending on the enemies I was fighting, I'd use power surge on every cooldown. I couldn't fight a boss or EB without it. 40% s/l resistance only takes you so far when you don't have a heal, when you have 0 defense of any type and when the best feature of your set (end drain) doesn't work on most EB's.

Just respecced out of my patron power pool and into fighting, the six slotted energize makes a world of difference! I'm not always rely'ing on my god mode now!

I'm building towards weave, I may need to respec though, I'm at 43 and don't have energize, or anything in the fighting tree.

If I drop anything, it'll probably be mu lightning.

<3 devs. It's like christmas come early, my el/ela brute is my only high level villain and anything with high enough s/l damage tears him apart.

I want my self-destruct power turned into a costume change emote.

I dunno about bad quality for the booster, only quirk I've noticed is the problems with bows. On the other hand, this booster helped me create one of my favourite characters thus far.

I'm wondering how many slots the various WP toggles/passives should have open for io sets. Before sets I would've leaned towards 3 for passives, 4 for toggles. But I'm not sure what set bonuses I want to take advantage of, and thus, what powers I should fully slot vs only three slotting.

energy/energy makes a great solo blaster with two solid AOE's.

Defiance 2.0 fixed all of my problems with my blaster. I can fight any enemy group, I can always stay out of range, and I can keep firing, even when I'm mezzed. My blaster doesn't stop until they die, and in many ways, they are becoming stronger than my brute.

One of the best tips I ever got for leveling a brute, at the low levels, get end/acc enhancements for your attacks. Slotting your attacks with end will do you more good than slotting your defenses with end.

And if you can keep attacking, you can keep fury up, so you make up for not having the damage enhancements.

Man, sounds like you need to play an /elec and then come back....

I just wish things would stop focusing on my brute, he hurts on full teams, he does. Elec/elec fantastic concept character, unfortunately, it creates stupid high aoe threat, and cannot take a punch to save my life.

So It's becoming increasingly obvious that my ELA brute is very squishy, I try to drain end or keep an enemy knocked down, but my base resists to anything but energy aren't cutting it. I'm still levelling, and I'm at 43, but I'm considering building without taking a patron pool.

Thus far I've taken every power from Electric melee except taunt and thunder clap. And I've taken all of the electric armor except conserve power. I grabbed mu lightning, and I'm running hover/fly.

I'm trying to decide between a respec to drop mu lightning entirely, picking up a different travel power, or going for fighting or aid self. Unless I can rely on ball lightning to put my end drain up to the point where I won't need the extra defenses?

How are people reaching such high ranged defense values? I'm looking at a few set bonuses and a few unique def io's and I might hit 20% ranged. Is it mainly power picks that are pushing them that much higher?

Didn't expect this many responses, heh, I stopped checking the thread. But yeah, there really wasn't much for me to do to stop the knockback anymore. It was an outdoor mission, I was hovering directly above them and waiting about five seconds, hitting BU+aim and bombing all of the enemies from above with my two aoe's.

I love my knockback on most teams, because I usually take odd teams to task forces and stuff. My friend and I usually split up when grouping together and solo different parts of the mission. Without it I would probably be dead a lot more than I am now, never expected to run into a person who literally wanted me to not attack though. heh.

Heh, that's what I've found I do a couple checks when deciding to buy a recipe. Is the recipe available for a lower than usual price? Is the recipe selling more often than the crafted? and has the crafted sold lately? plus how many are on the market vs how many bids there are.

I decided to get into setting out my only 50, and shortly after slotting with mostly oranges I decided to play the market game. And I gotta say. This is much harder to get screwed over than I figured. As long as you always remember to undercut, don't get greedy, and sometimes the buyer will give you the going price or even more!

I saw an opportunity with one of the pvp recipes, they hadn't had a sale for about a week, at a going price of 40 mill. I bought two recipes for 1 million, and sold them both for 15 million each. I put up a different recipe for 15 million and got 40 million for it.

I'm up to 130 million, and about 100 more in sales.

Heh, I did a few low level arcs trying to get my steadfast res/def, got a nice amount of merits for them and while I didn't get anything I wanted from the roll, I sold what I got for 20 mill. Looks like some of the lower level arcs are better for merits than the higher ones. And I'm a big fan of checking out stuff I missed, so I'm glad to see it was worth my time.

I'm curious, if you do an ouroboros arc at level 30, do you get level 30 recipes and salvage?

My heroside marketeer is only 22 so he can only store 60 pieces of salvage. Lavitae, if you get the SG to about 310k prestige, that's really all I'll need for a workshop room with a bunch of salvage racks, an enhancement bin, and a crafting table.

Pro-tip, 15 members makes 300k prestige, if you have any friends with alts, or anyone with alts they dont play, it can get you the prestige quite easily.

I didn't unload until they were at half health or so.
