Most Corruptors are LOVED on teams (especially Strike Forces). If you have one of the super popular powersets (Thermal, PD, Rad, etc) and put it in your search comment, you'll probably have a hard time fighting off the invites! You'll get there simply by playing
(being part of an active SG and global channels will make it even easier to get on teams) -
Quote:And coming up with some back story saying you're a woodland pixie isn't going to change that one bit. The (OP's) logic is simply invalid, the conclusion does not follow from the premise (in addition to the assumptions being sketchy). You do not need to come up with a story to dictate your power's appearances... but you can if you want to. You don't need to come up with a back story for anything about your character... but you can if you want to.You can also paint yourself with thick layers of eyeshadow and mascara if you think it's cool. That doesn't mean that other people will think the same. Nobody is stopping you, but your efforts may not necessarily be appreciated and may elicit unfavorable comments. Nobody is infringing on your freedom to make your character and powers look as you want, but that doesn't mean that there are good and bad ways of doing that, and an easy way of getting it wrong is overdoing it, or colorizing something just because you can.
I know a lot of people in game that doesn't give a damn about back stories for their characters. They play the game because they enjoy the leveling system. Because they enjoy the enemies. They enjoy the Dev created content. They enjoy the ability to customize their outfits. They enjoy the social life. They enjoy all sorts of different things, none of which requires you to give a damn about the reason that your energy blast is green instead of blue (because, you know, energy is blue!... oh wait, no it isn't! energy is every color and no color at the same time, 'cause every single thing in the universe is comprised of energy and nothing but).
Quote:Eh. It may be relevant at this point to consider that roleplaying existed long before MMORPGs and was largely a non-visual medium (and in this form, still is). I'm really not happy with the sloppy terminology that calls everything that isn't raw game mechanics "roleplaying". Visuals or game lore are aspects that can contribute to a roleplaying experience, but can also be totally separate from it. Warcraft games had lore long before there was either an MMORPG or RPG for the world, and video games, regardless of the genre, have actual graphics instead of stick figures, yet that doesn't mean that you are roleplaying. These very forums allow you to customize your avatar, yet we are not roleplaying here.
Personally, I rarely ever roleplay in CoH (I find the environment to be not conducive to creative make-believe games, and prefer tabletop games instead). But I still appreciate the visuals, for completely roleplaying-unrelated reasons. -
Again, the Shadow Shard and the Shadow Shard Reflections are already in the game.

Quote:I see that analogy as suffering the same fundamental flaw. The OP's argument was primarily: Come up with a reason for it, and everything will be fine. But having bad makeup and a reason (you're a tramp!) doesn't suddenly make it good. The Star Wars prequels main problems was decades of anticipation and build up, it would have been nigh impossible for Lucas to have made another without pissing off a lot of fans. The problem was exacerbated by poor writing (further exacerbated by campiness), not overuse of CGI (as was already said, there's been many well received entirely CGI movies, Toy Story being another a classic example). If you want a different analogy: There are good and bad ways to use makeup. And the bad ways can be very bad.
My point is mainly, reason be damned if you want. If you think a character looks cool, then that's good enough. It doesn't need to really make sense in reality... this is fantasy and a game, after all.
Quote:I'm not sure where the reference to "roleplaying" comes from, though. Roleplaying and a thought-out visual appearance are unrelated concepts in my book. -
Like what was already said, I'd recommend against trying to build for +regen. IMO, slotting for Defense and/or Recharge will get you the best results. Getting a decent amount of Defense (much less soft capping!) will make your character incredibly powerful.
Quote:Try uninstalling Mid's via the Windows Control Panel, then installing the new version.though I encountered an error with the update and therefore cant check it out. -

Quote:With i16 and Super Sidekicking, Exemp/Malfactoring was changed so you get to keep powers up to 5 levels higher than the level you're lowered to.
My primary tier 9 and secondary tier 8 in Siren's Call? Why am I able to use these powers now?
Quote:I have a crab spider... Well, his FIRST build is crab spider, his second is bane. For some reason I cant get rid of the crab backpack for one of my costumes. Anyway around this? Or do I need to keep the huge target on my back while PvPing Bane style..? -

Probably something uninteresting like a lame-*** typo...

I also apologize for my writing style as it tends to be creatively coarse. -
There's the /optionset command which lets you set all the options from slash commands... with the notable exception of the audio controls! They should add MusicVolume and SoundFXVolume to the list of options in optionset (you can see them all with /optionslist).

Quote:Why would I bite when I figured out a way to lick your elbow in just a matter of seconds? Hell, I've come up with a variety of different and highly appropriate ways to go about it:
Aww come on Kit! I had one good bite...and it was from a 42 year old! - Get a blade of some kind, or use your mouth, to cut off your arm above your elbow (meaning, your upper arm)... Then, once it falls to the ground, pick it up with your other hand, and lick the elbow.
- Open a door, stick your arm through, so that your upper arm is against the frame, then slam the door shut as hard as you can (I'd recommend a metal door). It might require a few dozen goes, but eventually the bone and flesh should be akin to jello, and it should be rather easy to twist it so you can lick it.
- Cut off your tongue, then rub it against your elbow.
There ya go. A variety of easy, do-it-yourself ways to lick your elbow! And you can do them all from the safety and comfort of your own home! -
People that didn't really care about RP before aren't gonna suddenly care about RP now... People also made garish outfits before with no issues. Sure, it'd be best to have a reasoning of some sort, but I don't think it's as serious as you make it sound (then again, the new star wars movies still made him a fortune).
IMO, the analogy doesn't really apply too well, as you'd be using the exact same amount of special effects whether or not you have an RP excuse. Sure, having a reason is great, but it's really not required...
And what about my Fire/Thermal Corruptor... She's had the exact same costume since I made her:
But now with Issue 16, I can customize the powers to make it look cool, logic be damned:
Sure, it's be fairly easy to explain blue & black fire realistically... but how many people would ever actually know unless I flat out tell them? Does spiderman go around saying 'I got bit by a mutated spider!' or superman spam his globals saying 'I CAME FROM ANOTHER WORLD!!!!'... Sure, silly examples but... okay, I just wanted to say something silly -
The OP's post without all the flamebait:Quote:
- I want a jet, motorcycles and cars. I want one of those Ugo’s you see all the time with the thumping stereo.
- I want more interaction with my environment. I want to see a car banana when my giant character lands on the roof then be able to throw it at a Sorcerer.
- I want to be able to swim under water.
- I want five story robots to attack the city. I want a MECH that shoots rockets and peppers targets with bullets.
- I want citizens who aren’t bipolar, alternating between strolling like a zombie or running around like a freak and I certainly don’t like them pushing me around like I’m on roller skates.

Quote:And if no one noticed it was your mission? If no one even noticed you were gone? Was this some sort of important or significant mission? This belittling of your team seems much ado about nothing...
One thing I do know is that in the case that I was involved in if those guys had just used some common courtesy we wouldn't be discussing this now. -

Quote:I imagine something like this would be appropriate for you.My vote: Death animation by Origin.
You may all now throw spears at me and impale me on the nearest stake. -
I'd be up for death customization... although turning it into a power that does damage or something worries me a bit as potentially being able to be gamed... although a goofy power (like causing all the enemies around you to switch to dancing as their idle animation and nothing else) would be hilarious... Okay, now I want powers that adjust enemies idle animations

With SSK, I'm far more willing to exemp/mal down. Most of my characters probably have some sort of lower level they'd prefer not to go under (i.e. sometimes I respec the character in a way that's really broken at lower levels... like only having 1 attack on a melee AT until the mid-20s), but I'd probably be willing to go down to any level above that, and if the cause was worthy (i.e. good content, friends, good reward, bored, etc) I'd probably join anyways... even if I was on a 49

I don't like your story. It seemed to be building up to the obvious climax, then you deflected that with what looked like an obvious chance of redemption, then you shatter the reader's hopes and dreams with the last sentence. Excellent work, you magnificent [censored]!
But in all seriousness... It was a hilarious (+sad) story... double sad since AE farms are so i15Oh well, they can't always have a happy ending!

I don't find Atta that bad... I DO find those late semi-filler missions that have the MASSIVE maps (5+ story tech lab with multiple sets of elevators? seriously?!?!?!) to be simply unfun, as they're just needlessly long without much at all happening on them.

I think that'd be a good idea, along with occasionally resetting everyone's flag to show them as having a global name change available (once a year should be often enough).
