Rad/anything should be able to put the hurt on many AVs, although Archery doesn't have any debuffs to help you with killing/surviving the AV like several of the other sets (Sonic's -res makes it top ranked last I heard). You should do pretty good, but it might be on the slow side.
  2. The GPU in the machine (NVIDIA GeForce G310) is rather low end. It won't be able to run Ultra Mode, and it'll have all around poor performance.

The processor should be fine and it comes with a fairly large hard drive (1000GB), as well as having a very large (well, by my standards ) amount of RAM. If CoH is the most intense application you run (like, no photoshop or video editing applications), then you'd probably be fine with 4GB of RAM no sweat.

I'd say find a system with a much better GPU, you should be able to find some for around the same price with a good one.

(also, personally not a fan of Gateway... or Dell... or HP for that matter... that doesn't leave many options )

They said OpenGL, not OpenGL 3.x. Also, according to that press release, SLI just magically works and the Devs don't have to do anything, so this thread shouldn't exist
  4. Please post the output of CoH Helper and HiJack This so we know more about your system.

But DOs don't scale by absolute level like IOs do, only relative level. The only difference between a level 1 DO and a level 50 DO is the when you can slot it, and when it degrades, not in the absolute amount it grants.

These Enhancements are equivalent to a Security Level 20 Dual Origin Enhancement.
This seems to be the clincher. If they're actually equivalent, then that means they're only usable from 17 to 23, and would be inferior to SOs (and IOs), with the exception of the minor buff, in which case it's not a big deal IMO.

Also, do I really need a motherboard for two video cards? I just wanna pay for practical value/usage, not eye candy.
Definitely not. You're going to pay a double for not that great of an improvement in potential visuals. Better to just buy a slightly better video card, than spending double on a setup that's more likely to fail or bugger out (more points of failure, more moving parts, more odds of something breaking).
  8. I know at least once I was complaining in a global channel about the team I was on, and I accidentally sent one of the messages to the team. Yes, awkwardness!

Many times I've had conversations with friends while teaming with them about some inane topic that'd make both of us look completely nuts, and "accidentally" sent a message over team chat instead at just the right time

From a bit of googling, ig4dev32.dll is associated with the Intel Graphics Accelerator. My guess is it's something to do with the driver installation, but would need to see the logs to have a better idea.

    Vista Problem

The method I prefer is to selectively override UAC for just Cityofheroes. To do this, you need to first take ownership of the City of Heroes installation folder (with your user if only your user account plays it, or the Users group if multiple people play it), which defaults to C:\Program Files\City of Heroes on 32bit systems, or C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes on 64bit systems.

Next, you'll need to install Microsoft's Application Compatibility Toolkit and use it to create an override for cohupdater.exe in your installation directory.

Now, you'll have maximized your security and usability. City of Heroes will no longer be forced to run as an Administrator, and you'll still have the protection of UAC (at least if you have the two-account setup, otherwise UAC is mostly just security theatre).
  11. Have you tried logging in with other characters?
Do they also crash, or do they work fine?
If they let you log in, what happens when you go to Steel Canyon on those other characters?
Have you tried logging in using Safe Mode (it's a checkbox on the Updater before you accept the Terms of Agreement)?

You mean in an internal (or at least non-live) build, right? Because I recorded that video since the latest patch (actually minutes before posting).

For me it doesn't happen consistently, but when it does it will not stop respawning until I move.
I figured that'd stop it too (which is why I didn't move until Fraps was running ), but it did continue for surprisingly long after I started moving, making me wonder if there's maybe another trigger for it to end.

If it's happening for pretty much everyone on Infinity, then it's unlikely to be an ISP issue (for either NC or the users), as Infinity would be sharing the same uplink ISP as the other servers on the same coast, so it wouldn't be [I]Infinity[/ I] but half the shards.

    Also, correlation is not causation:
  15. And if you're WANTING to change the name, make a place holder on the target server with the current name then... TADA! Free* rename!

  16. Ah, didn't realize it was pretty much common knowledge I asked on a couple of global channels about it and didn't get any response so figured I might as well record a video and bug it

We tried the checksum file, and we do not seem to have a temp file. I will try the virus protection next.
First off, you should probably post this in a new thread, as it's an unrelated problem (the problem in this thread was a temporary server side issue with the EU update server).

What exactly is your problem? Is your ISP cutting you off, or are you getting some error with the game? And what do you mean that you're having an upload (or do you mean download?) spike of 6 to 7 megs? When are the spikes occurring?

    IO question?

It depends on the IO. Set bonuses would still work, and IOs that act like set bonuses would. Ones that have to proc wouldn't, though.
  19. I just logged into Ouroboros a bit ago and saw something really weird. The Oz portal at the exit kept playing the spawn animation again and again and again and again! It had started up quite a bit before I started recording, and this isn't the first time it's done this (the last time it only lasted a few seconds).

Has anyone else seen this before?
  20. If that indeed happen, you should /bug it in game, and maybe also /petition it (petitions go to the GMs, and they might be able to fix your enhancements).

Although personally I'd recommend going with IOs (even commons) over SOs, simply because they're far cheaper.

The test server is meant to test the code that's going to later be on live.

  24. Note that the problem isn't fixed, you just have a work around. Next time a patch comes out, instead of downloading ~1meg-100megs, you'll have to redownload the entire game.

My guess would be this is most likely a conflict between CoH's Updater and Vista/7's UAC Emulation mode.

Yeah, the new missions are very cool, but maybe work a bit better solo than on a team?
That's a very good point I didn't think about (I spent about an hour and a half doing those two story arcs solo on my Em/Nin Stalker... so much death! And two shivans totally wasted!). I'm not sure how they could expand something like that to work well with teams... seems like only the mission holder is ever at all involved with the story on teams... which sucks for TFs as it's hard to try to read the story as you're going along.

It's be nice if they fixed the mission dialog window to not go blank for several seconds every time someone zoned or a dozen other random things occur, it really makes it hard to read the longer ones when you keep getting shot back to the top.

    ---
On teams, though, you can throw bigger baddies with interesting and different powers like Protein's Power Siphon (which I'm not sure what it does, 'cause I ran like hell every time the warning flashed up) to spice up the combat experience. I think there's a lot of combat mechanics that could be adapted from the old RPGs (like Chrono Triggers) and fit in fairly well with the game (many of which probably don't need any new infrastructure) that won't really make it harder so much as more varied and more interesting.
