Server transfer advise (before I mess up!)

Hi everybody,

am thinking about a short term transfer for one of my Alts and just need to clarify this point.

When you select the "Server Transfer" button you get a pop up information screen which starts

"Transferring a character to another server cannot be reversed & has the following effects:..........."

Does this mean that:
1. I then have to leave the Alt on the new server or
2. just that I cannot then retransfer it back to the original server when I have finished my project or
3. something else the meaning of which I am missing.

I am just thinking it may be like our "Global" that gets one change only.

Really need to get this clear before I screw up this Alts location.

It means that once the transfer is completed you can't "undo" it. However, you can buy a second server transfer at a later time and bring it back You just can't say "damn that's not where I wanted it to go, cancel the transfer"

None of my business, I'm sure, but what are you planning on doing on another server that's worth $20 to you?

Keep in mind, your toons name may not be available on the server your considering transferring to. Maybe not a big deal if you plan to transfer back later. However, if the toon has an iconic name, you might want to create a placeholder character on the original server as soon as you make the transfer so you don't risk losing the name while you're on the other server.

And if you're WANTING to change the name, make a place holder on the target server with the current name then... TADA! Free* rename!

many thanks for all the info, am a happy puppy with peace of mind because of it all Game on!

As to why the moves, well all the playing family are having a clan reunion and us loner "Black Sheep" are going over to the majorities home server for the BBQ and Screenies and festivities/activities.

We will have a D bash and run family TF's/PvP et cetera and generally help get some missing badges. So if you catch the smell of charred sausages wafting about Spankies boardwalk that will be us!

And of course all this is far cheaper/greener than a real flight to Vegas
