  1. Got my first earlier today as well...... Fortunata/Placate. Looks to be around ~4mil blueside.

(But then I followed it up a couple hours later with a Hecatomb - Acc/Rech. Whee!)
  2. Details of the Boosters can be found here.

Any additional costume pieces you get from purchased items (boosters, full game editions, etc) can be accessed any time you can access costume pieces.... i.e, during character creation, or when you go to a tailor shop in-game to change your costume.

(The choice of boosters is the bonus for the Architect Edition, btw, not Good v Evil.)

There is a conspicuous lack of pictures in this thread.

    Here you go.

    And, for contrast....

And another thing, I'm just curious, why do people play mmo and solo? I assumed the point of mmo's is to play with other people? Solo is way to boring for me. Just my opinion and I know it may suck to some people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, we may be questing solo, but we're playing *in* a world with many other people. Massively Multiplayer doesn't imply grouping anywhere, just that the game world is inhabited by many many players.

    --------

As for the OP..... yeah, that's why I don't group. I can never be certain that I'll have to stop at a moments notice, and I refuse to be the rude guy who abandons the team in the middle of something.

    So, I never team.

I don't mind the paint-on clothes. In fact, I actually like them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Semi random thought - I find it interesting to see people in a Supers game disliking "painted on" outfits...... because "design painted on a basic naked form" is the basic standard for comic book heroes. Yeah, you then add details like capes, utility belts, etc, but the standard generic "comic hero" is a naked muscle study covered in ink.

(Not to say that this is the One True Only Way. Just that it's kind of a basic feature of the genre. )

The platypus is awesome because it is actually representative of what used to be an incredibly common type of mammal (egg layers) but now they're all that is left of that branch of the tree.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I think the platypus is awesome because it has venomous spikes on its back feet!
  7. [ QUOTE ]

It's the legs. More noticeable when bare foot/high heels.

My main has her legs at the middle mark. In her normal boots (Large Heavy Buckles...pretty much on any outfit that will allow it for her) her legs look fine.

Minute I put her in a bathing suit/bikini for the SG beach/pool party *sigh* Her legs look way to long.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmm, good observation. I bet that's why I always think my girls' legs are waaaay too long in their civvie outfits - all the hero outfits have bare/tights/fishnet legs and stilettos. But the civvies are all long pants. With the stilettos, I can see that the heels are up off the ground, but once it's concealed by the pants legs......

    Hmmm.
  8. re: capes

If I recall correctly, Watchmen also had some "capes = bad news" bits in it, talking about the heroes from earlier decades.

    Level Stuck?

I got my scrapper through the 40-45 range doing story arcs (Division:Line, Evil Countess Crey, Melvin and the Malta, Eternal Nemesis, To Save a Soul, Welcome to Vanguard & Serpent Drummer's arcs in the RWZ, etc, etc). The story arcs in that range have lots of door missions, so you end up getting plenty of XP.

    Sounds good.

Hearing people say things costs millions of influ has me wondering if I need to be on a budget!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but if you're not making low level IOs, you can sell all that salvage you get on the market to help build your bankroll for later. Some of that stuff goes for silly prices. Especially if you catch it during a shortage.

The market's also good if you happen to get a lucky drop that you don't want. (Like, my first character got a Respec Recipe drop around level 18. Once I eventually got enough Inf to pay the market listing fee, I sold that sucker for 75mil. Whee!)

Freespecs that are handed out cannot be banked.

Thanks, I'm not sure how I got it so it definitely was free.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Everyone got one when Issue 15 hit, in case they felt that any changes/balances/bugfixes messed up their build.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

Usually when I hold a cc I ask that there be no powers OR weapons... this includes shields, swords or guns. Many people get really upset with me but when I host cc it's all about the costume not the accessories. Your costume should tell all that there is to know about you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I'd think that a well designed costume would have those elements (weapon, shield, whatever) as part of their total package. After all, if you're a gun- or sword-wielder, that style should be reflected in your outfit..... but it's also based *around* said weapon. So the weapon should be carefully chosen and colored to support the rest of the costume.

Conversely, *badly* chosen accessories (weapon, shield, clashing and overlapping auras/powers) are a sign of *bad* costume design. If someone thinks lighting off half a dozen toggle auras looks good.... they deserve to lose.

    /shrug

(Obligatory real-comics example: I can't see presenting Captain America's costume without the shield. The shield is a big part of his image.)

Instead I came up with the brilliant idea of handing 5-10m to random people with A) no vet badges and B) no AE badges
The only people I found were on trial accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I can imagine that's tough to find. As a new player (5 weeks) I escaped the AE thing in favor of seeing the regular content.... but I still went to AE at lv5 when the contact popped up, and tried one short mission solo. So I've got a couple AE badges.

    -------
In some cases, CC's seem rigged. In other cases - yeah, the people running it may just have a different idea of aesthetics than you.

I entered a "Patriotic-themed" contest on July 4th. When I went to Icon to make my contume, I thought "hey, lets make a clean and clear design, without too much clutter." Personally, I think it worked well. Maybe not enough to win, but.... Meanwhile, the winning costumes (while clearly thought out and well designed) were much more busy and complex than mine. So, even if I *did* think mine was the best, it obviously wouldn't have been in the eyes of the judges. Them's the breaks.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I have a decision to make.

Mad props on the Girl Genius pic, btw!!!

(Yeah, I've thought about making a Not Agatha™.... maybe an Elec or Energy/Device blaster. /chuckle)

Could it be a new class of giant monster causing havoc?
    A meteorite shower?
    A doomsday device?
    A superpowered virus?

    [/ QUOTE ]

A doomsday device, that summons a meteor shower, that releases a superpowered virus, that mutates people into a new class of giant monsters, that cause havoc!

  16. I know I don't represent every new player, but...

Hi! I'm a new player (coming up on 5 weeks). Previous MMOs - lots of WoW, poked a bit at Vendetta and Sword of the New World.

I think I've done..... 4? AE missions. They had some potential, but I can always go back to them after I've seen the regular game.

Been mostly solo, so I haven't done any TFs, but I've been trying to hit every story arc that I can manage. (It was kind of annoying in the earlier ranges, since I had to turn off XP in order to get most of them; but now that I'm in the high 30s, there seems to be plenty of leveling space to fit all the arcs in.)

So...... not *all* of us newbies are getting sucked into the AE farm PL'ing.
  17. This might be a silly noob question, but....

I just got lucky on some merit rolls (Mako:Lethal, Kinetic Combat/E/R, Miracle:+Recovery).

Was all hyped about the Miracle, ran off to my base and crafted it, started to think about where to slot it correctly...

...at which point the question occurred to me: Hold on, I'm a Regen scrapper with Quick Recovery and Stamina. Do I really *need* this?

So, what do people think. Is it worth slotting, or would that be massive overkill and I should just sell it?

    Thanks!
(Fire/Regen, currently level 38. Been playing about a month.)
  18. Also, you can't get any more enhancements right now, because your tray is full of level 1-3 ones.

You can either trash those (drag them to that little garbage can), or *sell* them. Obviously, low level ones aren't worth much. But at higher level (and higher quality) they get pretty good.

Basic enhancements can be sold to any of those Field Trainer npcs (like the ones standing near the level-up NPCs in Atlas/Galaxy/etc.) Dual and Single origin ones can also be sold to those guys, but you get the most inf if you sell them to the correct type of vendor.
(For example, a Magic single-origin enhancement will give the most inf when you sell it to a Magic Store.)

You need to clear out that tray before you can get any new enhancements.

(And.... doesn't the Ticket Vendor in AE sell enhancements, too?)
  19. Ah, cool.

    Thanks for the clarifications.
  20. And another big Thanks! to Fulmens for helping me get the Prestige to upgrade my SG's base from that silly little Combo unit to some *real* Energy and Control systems.

    (100mil matched)
  21. I'm kind of new to this IO stuff, so I have a bit of a silly question.

Main character I'm running now (Fire/Regen scrapper) has Build Up as one of her powers. I'd started slotting it with the Gaussian set.

What I'm wondering is... how does the Gaussian / Chance for Build Up IO actually work? Would it even have any purpose (besides set bonuses) being slotted in the Build Up power? Or is it meant for attacks that can somehow be slotted with Gaussian?

    /confused
  22. And it's on the paper map that comes with boxed CoX games....

    ....as Overbrook.

(Yeah, it's all very nice and immersive for the map to list all the city zones by their "official" and original names.... but it can be quite confusing for a new player trying to figure out where the heck they need to go.)

    Costume Emotes

Or, if you want to make a keybind:

    /bind <key> cce <costume slot #> <emote>

    example:

    /bind numpad1 cce 2 CCBackflip

    List of emotes is here.

And an important thing to note is that the costume slots start numbering at 0 rather than 1.
  24. [ QUOTE ]

Champions Online is currently trying a more free-form system, but the restrictions seem to be creeping in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I find this somewhat amusing, because back when I was hanging around with people who played the pen-and-paper Champions game.....

....they were constantly talking about all the restrictions GMs would put on character creation in an attempt to prevent the powergamers from making completely broken monster characters.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Unless, of course, Dr. Aeon and Crey Industries are launching some master plan to get everyone hooked on virtual reality so they can tend to their schemes unobstructed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ....it's all a Nemesis plot.

    --------
I'd just like to interject that not every new player is doing this. I've just cleared my first month, and I think I've done..... 5 AE missions?

Way too many alts, three at lv20, my main just hit 35 - and she's been trying to hit all the zone arcs. (I made a basic checklist from the wiki, and have even turned off xp at the X4/X9 levels so that I could finish some.)

On the other hand, I play 99.9% solo and haven't done a team mission or TF yet. Ah, well.

The AE thing seems interesting, but there'll be time to play around with it once I've seen the regular game first.
