all things considered why is thorn barrage so wimpy
[/ QUOTE ]It's got a long animation time, it does mostly lethal damage, it's single target, and it's got guaranteed knockback. I am honestly flummoxed as to what this power is doing in the tree at the rank it is - there's no surprise and delight, no oomph to thorns at that point. It's very similar to Power Burst, too.
I don't get it. I really don't. If it had perhaps some kind of long-lasting toxic DoT, or the like, it might make more sense, but as it is, level 38 powers continue to be a spectrum of great-or-totally-irrelevant.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thorn Barrage should be like Throw SpinesI actually thought it was a Throw Spines clone until I looked in Mids, my plant/thorns dom got deleted at 35.
-
Nothing is as evil as Radiation Emission. Nothing I say!
-
War Mace is also a good choice, with good ST and AoE. Clobber's guaranteed stun will stack with Oppressive Gloom, this way you can stun bosses.
-
So I have this lowbie sonic/sonic that I'll be using for teaming only (so I didn't pick aid self).
Question is, what to go for in set bonuses? I went for recharge just because of Liquefy and chaining shriek+scream without shout, dunno if it's worth it. And I still have two slots to spare... Also I know PBU will affect Liquefy but I'm not sure if it will do anything else for me, I never had it, so I'm torn on the epics too.
Any comments?
Thanks in advance.

I get what you're saying, didn't think about it before since I'm a MM n00b... Anyway I guess there's no way my pets will go over 43ish% defense (Shadow fall+enforcers+maneuvers+def uniques), unless I was /traps.
I might consider taking Provoke in place of... er... something, right now I'm doing the toggle pulll with Darkest Night but it seems my pets grab some aggro using this method. -
Actually Air Sup is a great idea, that's what I did with my DM/DA scrapper. I put combat jumping thinking about your defenses but it's a very nice mitigation tool (which you'll need as a lowbie shielder) and does a bit more damage than Shadow Punch.
-
I'd skip Shadow Punch altogether or move shadow maul after stamina. Something like this:

Hey all,
I have a lowbie spines/dark and I noticed that if I add 2 slow enhancements to Quills (lvl 50) the slow aspect goes from -16 to -29%.
Has anyone tried this? Is it noticeable?
Thanks! -
Never had problems forming my sewers group after AE. Both on Freedom and Virtue.
-
Ask in the PVP forums, you will mostly get guesses here.

My experience with Justice is a bit weird because it seems to me everybody blind invites you which is kinda annoying, but ymmv of course.
[/ QUOTE ]
that's not a Justice thing, that's an MMO thing. and i find it annoying too.
[/ QUOTE ]
I know that's part of the game but I got scared by the quantity of blind invites I got on Justice. On Freedom I almost always get a tell first. In fact, all my invites since I returned to the game (past 10 days) have been preceded by tells, I only played on Freedom since I came back. -
I ended up deciding for a Thugs/Dark
he's level 14 now.
With 38% from enforcers+maneuvers+pet uniques I'll have my pets almost softcapped with the 5.8% defense from Shadow Fall. I'm happy with this, plus I'm at 38% ranged def.

Well Leo_G, that's why my thread's title is 'Lolz'. Getting a carbon copy with lower recharge and a bit more damage instead of Fire Melee or hell, even Ice Melee.
-
Asolar, if you only have 3 slots for High PAin Tolerance, make it 3 heals.
Maximize heal on RttC too, don't bother with tohit debuff unless you have spare slots.
Fault should be slotted with a Stun set like Stupefy - it needs heavy accuracy which Stupefy provides.
And imho WP Tankers are the ones who need Taunt th most since my Blaster can pull aggro off Willpower's weak aggro aura with Snap Shot (yeah it happened on a TF. Several times). -
[ QUOTE ]
No, it does full damage to all targets. You're confusing it with Blaster and Dominator T-Strike. Brute and Stalker T-Strike is a 'true' AoE, and is weaker at ST damage than the Blaster version.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you sure about that? I thought other enemies only took the smashing damage while the one being targeted took all of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not anymore. I was proven wrong in this very thread, apparently the targetted enemy take smash+energy and the others take only energy. Meaning that T-Strike is quite gimp (in Brute numbers, the targetted enemy would take 84 damage and the rest 40ish, less than Lolzing Hands, and with T-Strike it's harder to hit enemies behind you).
And I thought it was my best attack after L-Rod. Oh well, elec melee seems more and more disappointing to me. -

*shrug* I like that I can find a lot of people on freedom. I can make up for the level 42 invuln tanker that ONLY runs invincibility and acrobatics ("so I don't get knocked down") with the extra defs and conts that are available on a high population server that thinks kin + stoner + emp = "team"
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, you should see the crazy RP builds I find on Virtue
I like Freedom, I like calling it Freedumb. It's nice to start a villain at level 1 and find a 8-man team to get you to level 8 in Mercy Island almost as fast as the sewers (I say almost because there's a lot of travel time in Mercy).
And, anyhow... To find good players you just have to join 1 or 2 of the most popular channels (I have 4 for Freedumb myself). That's where most of the the good players are. Besides if you've been playing for more than 6 months and didn't make good global friends who know other skilled people, you're doing it wrong.
I like Virtue too, and I like Justice a bit. My experience with Justice is a bit weird because it seems to me everybody blind invites you which is kinda annoying, but ymmv of course. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've added everything up to the Elec/Elec sets for Scrappers & Tankers. They're next on my list. I can't add Earth Assault, because that's a new set, and I can't add Broadsword to Stalkers (which I still think was a stupid choice...) because we don't know what will be dropped to make room for Stalker signature "attacks".
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure Whirling Sword will be removed from Stalkers just like the Katana PbAoE (Lotus Drops) was dropped from Ninja Blade. -

I rolled a character in freedom last week and I honestly couldn't stand being in AP because of the sheer stupidity that was going on.

What does this have to do with the OP not seeing SR scrappers in Freedom? -
Plus with the new Zephyr IOs you can soft cap without tough/weave making your build looser and less end-intensive (although I agree you feel almost like you don't have a secondary till 22 and SOs). Example:

Sure! You can use Crushing Impacts on your Malllets, Stone Fists and Seismic Smash and Obliteration on Tremor, plus Stupefy or Absolute Amazement on Fault. Since you'll have more wiggle room (no need for tough/weave for example) you can also use the taunt sets for recharge.
Don't forget recovery bonuses tho, both Stone Melee and Stone Armor are end pigs. Mud Pots is the most expensive taunt aura for tankers iirc. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is like a trainwreck. I can't look away. I can't bring myself to post something constructive and helpful, either.
[/ QUOTE ]
See? And even being the 'troll' here I did post something constructive in my first post:
'Shields is fine, it provides defense, +HP, decent resistances, a great AoE attack and a damage enhancing aura.'
But the OP chooses to ignore even detailed answer like Umbral gave.
Hey OP, go ask Powerforge how bad shields is, he only soloed 70 AVs with his, no inspirations or temps! -
Well it's not easy, it requires 65% global recharge and as much movement bonuses as you can get besides 3-slotting Swift (although you will still be very slow with Rooted on, but you can do like me and bind a key to toggle rooted only in battles - and in most of them you won't need Rooted anyway when in Granite as you have your status protection anyway).
I don't have a granite tanker but my Granite Brute runs fast without rooted (22ish Mph versus 24 mph on a normal toon with sprint on). Basically all my IO sets went to recharge, regen and movement bonuses. Build below for reference (you won't need Tough/Weave in a Granite Tanker btw):
